- Sitting independently is an important milestone for babies. The best age to encourage babies to sit is between 4-6 months, after they gain head control. If your baby is not sitting independently yet at 6 months, don't worry! She just needs a little extra practice in these positions. So take her out of those devices and get her on the floor. Her little muscles just need a little encouragement.
Remember to sit behind her for short sitting practice because babies fall backwards a lot! I was only sitting next to her for demonstration purposes.
