My 4 months old baby doesn't pick his head up when on tummy. Instead he licks his fingers and keep head down. Also he is not holding any toys. He just hold our fingers

I actually cried when you said that it's normal for a baby to sleep 30- 45 mins for their naps in the day. Had so many people telling me that they should be do at lest a hour and my little boy just want sleep that long in the day. Loving hearing from an Australian

Thank goodness i found your channel. I was constantly worrying that my baby wasn't getting enough sleep and that her naps were too short because i see other mum's reporting their 4-5 months old babies were napping 1.5-2hrs per nap. At least now i can relax knowing my baby's naps and total sleep hours are within the normal range. Thank you!

I love these. My grand daughter will be 4mo tomorrow and 100% she is right on schedule. It's funny, because she dropped her 4th nap today and fell asleep an hour early tonight. The 35-45min naps surprised me about 2.5 weeks ago, but we just rolled with it.
    Thank you so much.

thank you for your great videos! But when you say babies of 4 months age sleep up to 5 hours on their first session, you are referring to bottle fed babies? Because neither my daughter nor any other baby of her age we know sleeps that long while being 100% breast fed. I've heard that bottle fed babies tend so sleep longer so I guess that goes for them? Our daughter consistently wakes up every 2-3 hours... there have been sessions of 5-6 hours but these are rare.

Hi Emma, I’ve been following you since my 4 month old baby boy was born! Thank you so much for the great insights! My question is I’ve been told to train him wake-eat-play-sleep cycle. But he wouldn’t sleep unless I feed him before he goes to bed and because I’m only breastfeeding I can’t tell how much I feed him each time. So, it’s been really difficult for me to follow and that made me feel bad 😞. How important is it to follow the cycle and would he naturally learn to fall asleep without the training?
    Thank you so much!

Hi Emma. I learned a lot from your videos which I recently found😊 My baby turned 5 months just last week. I am concerned with her difficulty in rolling and also she hates tummy time. She is having a hard time lifting her head (maybe because of its bigger size). She has an Apert Syndrome anyway. Is it normal that she develops late? We are from the Philippines.

He does almost all the things you’ve covered in this video, except for the lifting up his chest with his hands open, he goes in his chest but he keeps his hands closed, only when he gets tired, he opens his hands and goes on a swinging mode so have to roll him in his back again or else he cries.. he also rolls on his side sometimes and does a full roll but with assistance. Many thanks 🙏🏽

Hi Irina from what you have said I would not be concerned. He sounds like he is doing well!
The only reason I would be concerned is if his hand is always fisted and this is preventing him from being able to hold onto toys. But if his hand is only fisted when lying on his tummy then that is ok.
But as always if you are worried check in with your little one's doctor as they can see him in person and complete an assessment.

I was wondering if you could offer me some advice. My newly 4 month old at night time will sleep a stretch of anywhere from 2-6hrs. It’s never the same. One week she slept, 4hrs,5hr,6hrs then recently it’s 2-3 hrs then up every 1-2 hrs. (B Feeding 2-3 times). Is this normal ?

My son doesn't take sound sleep at night he wakes up very frequently. He sleeps peacefully in the day time. During day, his naps are really long. In fact I shouldn't call them naps. How should I change his routine? Please help. It's getting very difficult for me to handle him at night

Is it okay for the baby to sleep straight 5 to 6 hours during the night or we should wake them up for feeding every 2 to 3 hours?

I have a dumb question. Does 4 month actually start right after 3rd is completed or is it after the full 4th months? when they say : this is what your 4-month-old baby can do, which time do they mean? I'm so new to this

My baby just turned 3 months and has passed all these milestones except sleeping through most of the night. I know he’s not 4 mos. yet, but even at 3 months he still has 4 feedings between 23:00 & 7:00. He’s primarily breast fed, but I give him 4 oz of formula before bedtime at 19:00 and his first night feed at 23:30 to try to keep him fuller longer. If anyone has any feedback or reassurance that this is normal that’d be much appreciated !

Hi @Julianna Versola what your little one is doing is perfectly normal. It is rare for a baby to sleep "through the night". When people refer to sleeping through the night at this age what they generally mean is that they go to bed late and wake early. So for example they might have their last feed at 9.30pm and sleep until 6. But this is not the norm.
At 3 months of age it is normal for babies to be waking 2 -3 times a night after having a longer stretch of sleep (4-5 hours) at the start of their night time sleep. Which is exactly what your little one is doing. So your little one is having a feed at 7pm and then waking for a feed 4 hours later. This is perfect. Generally that first stretch of sleep will increase as your little one gets older.

I find your videos very helpful. Thank you. I have a 4months old baby who does cat naps through the day. She still takes 4 naps a day and goes to bed at 6ish. She falls asleep on her own but unable to lengthen her naps.. When she reaches about 6months old, would she be able to do it? Will that happen overnight....? I am quite frustrated with my baby's cat naps and beginning to get a bit worried.

Hi Saemi glad you liked the video. It is amazing your little one is already falling asleep on her own. Catnaps are expected at this age and since she is already able to fall asleep on her own then I would expect that by 6 months when her body is ready she will start to lengthen her sleeps. Just make sure the room that she falls asleep in is very dark (I have a video on blackout blinds which might be helpful). That way when she wakes between sleep cycles she won’t be stimulated by everything in the room and will go back to sleep.

@@EmmaHubbard Ok so I will have to wait till she is older. I am so glad that you are telling me that as other sleep trainers haven't told me that which makes me think that I am doing something wrong. My daughter falls asleep on her own most of times. Some naps are not as successful as other times, so I carry her in my carrier. But I mostly put her down in her bed in the dark room. Thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate it.

Hi Saemi I definitely don’t think your doing anything wrong. Very impressed she is able to fall asleep on her own. Not all naps are going to go smoothly but if the majority of naps your little one is going to sleep on her own then your definitely not doing anything wrong.

My baby is 3.5 months and just started taking significantly shorter naps, which was stressing me out as I didn’t know why she was waking up so quickly. Thanks for the reassurance that these chances are just a normal part of development.
