Four inch chisel,, make a relief strip all the way down the center of floor. Work two inches at a time , so there is a relief so the thin set has a place to go when it's breaking.
This is the way I used to do it, that way works but is slow, twice as fast to get a good 7 inch angle grinder with a dust shroud and get a good concrete head on it use with shop vac, even leaves it smooth only issue is you have to watch your vac it gets full fast ive done a ton of tile demo and by far is best way.

Thanks for the tips. I’ve been doing it the same way with a 3-inch chisel bit. I noticed you still have some residual thinset left on the floor. A lot of people say you have to remove every trace of thinset before you can lay tile. Is that true? Some of that stuff is hard as concrete itself.
I'm looking to maybe having to do this in the near future, not in my bucket list that's for damn sure - I'm 59. Wonder if soaking the thinset for a week or 2 would turn it into mud...
That looked like a really tough job. Well done.

Any recommendations on what angle grinder to get
Makita
I just poured straight vinegar on and let it sit 30 minutes to an hour. It bubbles and then scraped off with a putty knife. Nice😊
So that works? That’s my job tomorrow so give me a thumbs up if you’re serious
@@hellawaits5528 Just watch out for the fumes. The longer it sits the better. It does bubble to.
Ok I’m gonna try it thank you
@@elizabethharp8107 Oh my it’s working!!!! I now love you!
@@hellawaits5528 just beware of the fumes. It's not the vinegar but the mortar that can sicken.
Wow man nice job!
Uh that ain’t all gone my man. You have a lot more work to do in my humble opinion……but you worked very hard, I know

Hey thanks for posting! Did you put water down on the thinset before attempting to remove?
Yes, just wet the area and remove thethinset , it's helping with dust
Very hard work good job!!
Great job. How many hours did it take to remove all the tiles?
2 DAYS

Thanks a lot
Not on wood !!!
What is the tool called?
Floor scraper: amzn.to/39CiFNn
Thinset removal bit: amzn.to/3thEbih
A concrete grinder would have had that entire room done in about an hour. Lol
Angle grinder will create a great deal of dust!
@@salimahallim7437 vacuum with a shroud and and extra 10 hrs to clean up. This chisel method is exactly how it should not be done
Hammer way 👌
He couldn't seem to make himself get the angle right. looks like the blade was on backwards for the thin set.
Too much work.
It's not possible to lay new tile without having to remove old tiles?
No I guess not.
possible! , if you don't mind adding a few inches then is OK, i personally like it as a new lay
Y would u want to lay more tiles on top of old ones 😂

Rent a buffer with a removal wheel
You could just grind it off bud
missed a spot
