  • Would you watch a show about beauty history? This 6-minute "Sizzle" is currently being pitched to networks. It’s a dream of mine to travel the world exploring beauty culture and makeup genres that have existed throughout history. I would love to hear your feedback! The possible name of the show is Beauty Complex, a play on words but I’m happy to take any suggestions!
    Thank you to Walt Paper, Sacred Boy, and Kabuki Starshine for allowing me to interview you and share with the world your amazing art.
    Walt Paper- / therealwaltpaper
    Sacred Boy- / sacredschneidmiller_of...
    Kabuki Starshine- / kabukinyc
    Not only will I explore ancient and current beauty rituals but we’ll see firsthand toxic ingredients, application techniques, and even what certain shapes or colors signify within that culture.
    In this video, we’ll learn about the 1990s NYC Club Kids and how their makeup and eye-catching looks inspire beauty today, then attempt to recreate a look inspired by their art.

I'm a huge fan of his and watched every video he made that was released on YT. I adored getting to see that world and Nelson's perspective as he navigated and ventured through the scene in NY at that time! Wish I could've been there to see them in all their glory! He even has video of Ethyl Eichelbeger performing several plays she wrote, preserving her art and creativity for future generations to marvel at. I love Ethyl so much. All the wonderful friends, characters and players that Nelson associated with in those days. Many of whom should still be here today, including Nelson and Ethyl. 🖤🖤🖤

      @RnR-Rebel Год назад +1

      @@ForReal_Lauren - I *think* Nelson was just an acquaintance if I’m remembering correctly. I wasn’t really into the “club kid” scene; tbh I think we were too “old” in our late 20s-early 30s! Not “old” in age, old as in we’d been dressing wild, doing crazy hair & makeup for well over a decade by then, you really tend to settle into your own personal style mashup (still always playing @ 63😉) by that age if you’re a creative. Many of my friends were in drag shows & I learned *more* about hair & makeup from them then at cosmetology school (bless😘); so I did know Ethyl (RIP😢, very kind to me, again more of an acquaintance) & others before the “club kid” scene. My friends & I never stayed static so we’d be involved in many scenes at the same time. The NYC underground scene was so wild from the mid-70s until gentrification started; once there were no more dirt cheap apts for us “starving artists” who made it *the* place to be it wasn’t nearly as exciting🙁. C’mon what other time in history would an artist open their LR as a gallery show because no gallery would show their work but now it sits in places like MoMA? It was like the Wild West but for creatives & some of us never stopped thank goodness! Love & respect to you as well! 🧡🎸🎶⚡️

    I just discovered your channel, but I'm already enthralled! This is so incredibly interesting, and not to mention inspiring, to see the things that paved the way for how makeup as an artform came to be presently.
    One thing I'm grateful for in recent times is how accessible the freedom of self-expression has become for kids. I hope we continue to move in a direction where young adults and teens can choose to express themselves in whatever ways they want without judgment.

      After doing that Victorian video recently, I could not agree more. Maybe in some parts of the world line small towns you might be judged for wild makeup - but with social media the creativity out there - it’s just amazing to see. We certainly are living in a wonderful time for makeup…if there was more sustainable ways though I would be even happier ❤ thanks for you lovely comment!
