  • In this video BMW explains how to precondition your Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle.
For your comfort, the interior of your BMW is cooled, ventilated or heated by preconditioning, which is standard for all Plug-in Hybrid and Electric Vehicles. This way, the temperature in your vehicle will feel comfortable at all times.
To activate the system your vehicle needs to be in rest or standby state.
The preconditioning can be switched on using the BMW Operating System settings.
    Go to:
    - CAR
    - Settings
    - Climate comfort
    - Auxiliary climate control
Here you can choose between "Start now", "Preconditioning for departure" or select "Departure schedule" to set different departure times for different days of the week. This way you can make sure that your vehicle is preconditioned when you want to leave.
It is also possible to activate the system using the BMW Connected App, which can be used to activate, stop or plan the preconditioning. To do so you don’t even need to be in close vicinity to your vehicle. Just select "Climatise now" and "Confirm".
Good to know: If preconditioning is used during charging, less air conditioning power will be required during the journey. This way you will benefit from an optimised range.

I need a car i could heat up or cool off with an app. I live in Connecticut and our winters are extreme. Can the 2019 530e actually heat the interior if the temp is below 30 degrees Fahrenheit outside? I dnt mean just air circulation, i mean actual heating. Thanks

I would be grateful if you would clarify the following ...
BMW says, 'If a time of departure has been set at least three hours in advance, the high voltage battery will also be preconditioned.'
So on the remote app setting I have departure time turn on. Should I also have Climatisation turned on.
BMY says, 'If immediate preconditioning has been initiated or the departure time is less than three hours away the HV battery will not be preconditioned at all.'
I assumed immediate preconditioning is ‘Climatise now’ and that’s literally for heating up the cabin.
BMW says, 'It can also be noted that both preconditioning (cabin and battery) are using power from the HV battery, but if the car is plugged in it will start charging the battery.
      '
BMW says, 'If the car is plugged in with only a standard charger (the standared charger being the Type 2 to three pin plug that comes with the car I assume) the preconditioning will use more power (approx. 4000W) than what the car is able to draw from the socket and the car will hence not be fully charge at the time of departure.
      '
How can you get around this if the Type 2 to three pin plug is your only option?

Add it to the app. Not everybody leaves at the same time each day, or goes to work the same days each week.

For everyone out there here's what turning on the Climatization via the app takes out of the battery for 15 mins cabin warming when NOT plugged in. 3% ! Fantastic and this is without the Heat Pump. Outside temp 3C after 15mins cabin 22C

    • @Funcle
      @Funcle Месяц назад

Wow - exactly what i was wondering. 3% is worth it on cold days

I have a 330e if I precondition my car the range drops significantly. On a full charge I get a displayed range of 24 miles (what happened to the advertised 36 miles?) actual mileage is much less. If I set the preconditioning for my morning departure I get a displayed range of 18 miles even though the car has been charging all night and still plugged in. It takes the power to precondition from the battery not the mains, why is this? I do not have a charging point just a 3 pin plug lead but I wouldn't have thought this would make a difference.

How can you choose which temperature car is for example preheated (in cold climate)? Is it always the same temperature what was left to the AC settings, for example 22 degrees Celcius? Or can you change it via Mobile App?

Hi! Hope some BMW persons are still following this old thread. I have a 2023 BMW Plug-in Hybrid. I know how to switch on precondition with My BMW App, in-car menu, and the Diamond button on key fob. I already set the 'diamond' button for precondition. However, I could not figure out how to switch precondition OFF with key fob after it is activated. I want to cancel it becaue I may delay or cancel the trip and does not want to drain my battery. I tried pressing the diamond key again, double-press, long-press. None seems to work. Checked all available owner's guides and online resources but could not find the answer. And after switched on, how to switch precondition off in car without affecting the air condition settings? Again, I know how to turn it off in My BMW App but asking here whether it is possible to turn it off with the key fob and how to turn it off in car. It would be nice to be explained in users' guide. Thanks in advance!

I have a 2023 BMW X5 50e - if the car is plugged in to my BMW wall box pre-conditioning will not activate on the departure timer, if its not plugged in it does. I've been back to the dealer and they don't know why this is happening. Its so frustrating.

Can I do something about the climatization input failing to send to the car (BMW i3 2018)? Sometimes it works, other times it does not.

While BMW lives in the past, they think shareholders will buy into their drivel by hiring 65 year old retired marketing professionals to produce embarrassing and cringe worthy 90’s style marketing hype like Vision, M Next vaporware while customers are already driving the future in next generation Audi’s, Mercedes, Tesla, Jaguar, Nissan, VW and Korean vehicles. KUDOS to these forward thinking auto makers and thumbs down to BMW. When I see these douchebags who think they are so cool driving off into the sunset in their 2019 gas sucking and polluting ancient BMW’s I can’t help and judge these BMW owners and short sighted
and obviously poorly educated who just love the badge to boost their ego.

Jaguar had to recall 44,000 vehicles in march due to excessive emissions. Who's polluting now?
