Hey, sir! Thank you for taking part in the video and sharing your knowledge! Every voice advocating for the misunderstood life forms around us is so important. Also…great name. My name is Travis also. 😄
I had a yellow sack spider living in my room. I called it Jennifer. “She” would go from one corner to another. This went on for about 4 months. Then I found her on the floor. I put her next to one of my plants and brought her a spoon of water. She came over and drank. I’ve never seen anything like this. She only lasted about a week after that. It was very touching. I really liked watching her.
i enjoy cellar spiders in the same way. bring em water or leave a dirty place by em to attract flies. last one was my dude frank and hed hang in the shower just posted every day.
When i vacuum the floors i always try to avoid any corners that contain webs or spiders, i try and moving them up high. Spiders are great at hunting mites and bed-bugs as well, which is amazing. I never kill them.
7:05 "Those big eyes aren't just for show; they have really good vision" No wonder the wolf spider looks so confused, it's like "bro what is this thing that's being shoved up in my face rn... 😦"
I had a cob web spider beside my kitchen sink one time and she was the best pest patrol ever. I hate spraying poison around the kitchen area. She kept my kitchen free from stink bugs, that for whatever reason decided to start invading there. I told anyone that came over to not mess with her or her web. She became like a pet to me and my wife and we didn’t even like spiders at the time. We would even feed her little bugs we’d find roaming around. She sure changed our view about them. Now if we ever see one we leave them be, and let them have their little slice of paradise in our home, undisturbed.
All good n well if they STAY in the corner trouble is many don't you can have one sitting in the corner of your living room ceiling then in a day or so it's disappeared you then find the thing in your bedroom..
I used to be afraid of spiders, but after owning my own house and dealing with flies, mosquitoes, and roaches, i welcome them in my house. I just dont want them to suprise me.
@@spartanhawk7637 yep, inform them of house rules. All our guests on=bey the rules. Infact, we know when a newbie wanders in because we always have to save them from drowning in the pet water. We fish them out with an orangewood stick and put them in the plants to dry out.
One of my favourite behaviour traits of the cellar spider is, when it feels threatened it will start to shake the web really fast. It is really impressive to see.
sometimes when im bored i touch them and it always makes me very happy seeing them going insane in fast circles.... they are like too00OOrrrNAADDOeoeOOo its probably verrrrry mean of me, but its just so funny
@@shadowkilla1093 no, you are probably stressing it out a little bit, but you are not really harming the little guy. It is quite entertaining to watch them spin.
@@EgonSorensen whenever I got close to it, the cellar spider felt threatened so it would be defensive, but I didn't know it was trying to be invisible. That would make sense though as those things are so thin and moving at that speed, it certainly would be hard to track if an insect or a bird wanted it for lunch.
Oh that’s what two of em were doing in my bathroom. They made each other spin. I thought I jarred the web with the toilet lid or something. Great to know. ✌🏾
“I bet there is a spider watching you right now.” Sir I clicked on this video bc a jumping spider has been slowly crawling around my ceiling for 4 hours and I want to know why he’s just hanging out up there. We are watching each other. “A jumping spider might jump on you from the ceiling.” I feel like fate is setting me up right now with my current situation and this video recommendation.
Another thing to add about the mischaracterization of brown recluse spiders, while their bites _can_ be dangerous, less than 10 percent of brown recluse bites are bad enough to cause necrosis. Additionally, less than 1% of black widow bites cause serious symptoms, and there hasn't been a reported death due to a black widow bite in the US since 1983.
Ive heard the only reason the bites get so bad is because they aren’t cleaned. Straight up people have reported verified bites WITH A SPIDER for proof, and after cleaning with soap and water thoroughly, the only symptom they experienced was pain around the bite. For both species.
When I was taking an arthropod biology course in college I was told “whatever you do, don’t kill cellar spiders. They’re the oldest roommates to humans and they will be more than happy to keep you safe from actual dangerous spiders”. Cellar spiders are friends not your enemies.
@@Felsparx Just clear out the cobwebs when the cellar spiders are done with them, much better to have cellar spiders sitting around in corners quietly than giant house spiders running back and forth.
one of the best videos ive watched. I have SEVERE arachnophobia. To the point where when i see the spider in the start of spider-man I have to look away from the screen. Ive been trying to get over my arachnophobia by watching yt videos on them occasionally. This not only taught me about spiders, but made me more at ease from them. I had a roach infestation for about 6 months and I was freaked out everyday. Psychologically it was getting to me.. then one day I saw a spider...with in a week the roaches were gone.. I am sure that was not the only spider in my house.. sure enough I saw quite a few during that week and apparently the word got out to just about every spider.. "free room and bored!" man they earned their keep. I never saw a roach again.. I was so happy. I know this sounds weird but I felt so safe with those 8 legged guys hunting.. and unless you have a really bad roach infestation appear, you will never know what I mean.
Ironically ye, I had a roach infestation, and then spiders eventually came in 6 years later. The roaches are pretty much gone, and all I see is the occasional spider roaming around. Sure there are a few roaches around, but I only see them every now and again as opposed to every fucking minute.
It was a great surprise to see my 2 favorite spider "hunters" content creators working together! Loved it, and wouldn't mind more in the future, for sure!
I have 2 spiders in my house, each has a web by a window. My girlfriend saw the cobwebs and just about wiped them off the sill... I was like "ever see a fly or mosquito in here?" They are great roommates!
0:58 fun fact: in Dutch/Flemish we call them "trilspin" which translates to "tremble spider". Probably because you can sometimes see them trembling or even shaking in their web.
Right? I've seen some massive ones. So I thought. Not sure if that one is just a different species of the ones here in the Midwest US or what but it was huge.
I had one that big on my shower curtain. Brushed against my face as i was getting in. It was fist sized. Thankfully i was getting into the shower, because i indeed pooped a little.
I had a phiddipus audax living in my house for almost a year, and it developed a funny and particular pattern it would do every day - it would do a slow, methodical lap around the edges of the living room ceiling. I always called it the perimeter check. I really enjoyed watching it do its little patrol. It was also very aware of me - I was working from home at the time and had my desk in the living room, and I would see it come over and watch me sometimes. Once in awhile I would look up and find that it had dropped on a thread to hang next to me, just getting a closer look. A curious little creature. You hit the nail on the head comparing them to cats - I always think of them as little cats too.
I envy peoples ability to be so calm with spiders. Im quite calm when I see one, but if I feel or see it near me I cant take my eyes of it. I dont know if I have a weird issue but im really trying to get over it by watching videos like these.
@wingdingdmetrius8025 They are cute but I live in a country where spiders are very small. So a bigger spider would prolly still scare me. No matter how friendly it looks. It's the legs and the freaky crawl they do and the way they hang on threads.
When I was in the Marine Corps, I was stationed in Iwakuni, Japan. The base I lived on had a large black widow population. When arriving to the base, all new personnel had to receive a safety briefing and the black widow spiders were part of the safety briefing. They talked about "Never put your hand or bare foot in a place you haven't visually inspected first". Like never put a foot in a shoe/boot without checking inside first. Never reach your hand somewhere without first looking. Despite the safety briefing, black widow spiders weren't really significant. I spent a year at that base and I only saw a handful of black widows, and never inside a barracks room. They were always in places like storage sheds, where it's dark and quiet and not often visited by people. And I never heard of anyone ever being bitten by one during my year on the base. However, they are definitely aggressive. In the rare instances where a Marine would have to retrieve something from a storage shed, the black widows would actually become active while you're in the shed. I even heard some Marines say that black widows would descend from the ceiling on a web strand, right above them - like the spider was actually coming after them. I never saw this myself though. So I don't even know if that is true. I saw for myself that black widows are very aggressive and ANGRY spiders - but I wouldn't think that they are so aggressive that they would actually do something like GO AFTER a person. Anyways, sorry for the wall of text. That's my experience with black widows. Oh, and on the Parris Island base in South Carolina, there are TONS of brown recluse spiders. I saw a ton of those ugly guys.
Me and my friend found a jumping spider of some sort in our class, I hate spiders, but I adored this one. We instantly decided it had more character than everyone in the class, it’s side-stepping and hopping about was adorable.
Fantastic video!!! Rlly nice to see Travis featured as well… with every upload you de-stigmatize these beautiful creatures even more, honestly it’s just so refreshing to see a relatively large creator who doesn’t intentionally fear monger or sensationalize our creepy crawly companions. On a different note… hopefully you’ll be able to film yellow sac spiders and hobo spiders on your own someday :)
I really liked the flow of this video, no segment felt like it dragged or was unnecessary and I learned a ton even in those condensed presentations. I think you executed on the ex situ presentation style well, you’re giving me some ideas of what we could do with our new videos. Great work man!
We have a brown recluse infestation in a corner of our house. Every time I see wolf or jumping spiders I place them close to that corner in hopes they join me in the fight. We see them so often, I'm usually able to identify them by the way they orient their legs. Most spiders seem to have their legs half up and half down like an x, but recluses seem to point them all forward or spread to the sides.
Last I saw my cellar spider, he was headed up the back wall of my bathroom. He is a hardy little fella, the fact he has survived my cats for more than 3 days is a real testament to his cunning.
i don't have cellar spiders in my area, sadly enough but I always wanted some. I do have hobo, brown recluse ,jumping spider, giant house spider, and on occasion an occasional wolf spider that got lost and wandered in by accident. I've interacted with hundreds of these spiders in my home over the decades, and they are no bother at all. I just gently coax them only my hand and carry them to my basement or laundry room to act as free pest control if it is too cold outside to let them out. Never once have I been bitten and that is because I am careful for them to see my hand as just another bit of terrain to walk on, NOT a predator or other threat. So I am very glad there are folks out there making these videos to educate people. I think half the fear is due to a total lack of understand or knowledge of them which ends up in more bites because if they were calm rather than acting like a rampaging Godzilla, the spiders wouldn't feel the need to fight for their live sin one of the only ways they have available to them. Thanks so much for all these videos!
what a funny comment... but i just cant be sane w something like a brown recluse/ black widow in my home.. but i definitely wouldnt cause them to attack me.. good on you but i couldnt pick them up
Here in Japan, we sometimes get the massive huntsman spiders bigger than our hands wandering into our houses. But despite the jump scare factor, they usually only wander in when there are prey insects to be found inside and then leave just as suddenly once they take care of the problem. I had one sitting outside in front of my front door staring up at the door a while ago and was like, "please, you don't want to come in, there is nothing for you." I do have tons of little jumping spiders though. Haven't seen as many recently, but at one point, I could count 7 males in my room at one time.
I would wake up a few hours later from PASSING OUT if I stumbled upon a spider the size of my hand when I picked up a blanket. I know spiders get a bad wrap, but that is a little much for me. They need to stop sneaking around and we'll be alright haha.
man that was a really great video, i honestly learned alot. even tho i'm all the way across the pond here in denmark, i still very much appreciate all our cellar spiders and orb weavers, i usually let em just chill as long as they're not making webs were i walk.
I LOVE jumping spiders. They're so cute. I have jumping spiders living in my study probably cuz the window doesnt seal perfectly. Luckily they seem to take care of all the unwanted bugs and sometimes they just come out to take a look around and watch me draw. Absolutely adorable.
Cellar spiders are definitely underrated. Here in the UK there was our version of a house spider (as big as you'll see here) in my bathroom in one corner. In another corner was a cellar spider and like David and Goliath, a day later the cellar spider took him out, which completely surprised my uneducated self. Since then I have a new found respect for something that used to freak me out.
I'm in the UK too... In recent years we've played host to a large population of cellar spiders in our house, with at least one big one in every room, and lots of tiny ones you have to really search for. Normally, every September/October we'd be catching and releasing at least one large house spider every night, sometimes more. To the point where we'd lose count. This year, we've only seen a couple in two months. All I can assume is the cellar spiders have basically wiped the house spider population out.
Ohh that's what my little Eloise was! A cellar spider! She was a darling, and I spoke to her everyday when I did the laundry. She was one of the few spiders I wasn't as scared of.. I'm still trying to get over my fear of spiders by learning more about them, and she really helped me with that.. I don't want to be afraid of spiders, and my Eloise helped me a lot with that :)
Love these "debunking" videos. So many people here in Los Angeles believe cellar spiders are actually brown recluse. I welcome them. A little too much. My fiancé says we have way too many now. 😂
Yeah I'm from Nebraska, where brown recluse are common enough that you would think most people would be able to identify what they look like. But sadly, most people see any brown-ish spider and think it's always a brown recluse.
Same, I honestly just let the non-threatening spiders live in my house. They kill other bugs, they regulate each other too and they don't bite me so why wouldn't I want them to keep pests away?
@@escapetherace1943 house centipedes are another one that get a bad rap. They don't cause any damage, rarely would bite people, and they kill practically every pest that would be in your house, including spiders.
I don't really mind them making a web in some obscure corner. They literally vibe on their webs all day. The cellar spiders are like the OG pest control too as I am sure they kill many bugs you don't want coming up from the basement.
I live in a basment... and yeah, these spiders are great pest control.... I do have other spiders, I'm not so fond of... squash those... the the corner spiders alone
I'm glad to hear somebody else describe jumping spiders like cats. They are curious, pounce on their prey like a cat, and also will chase laser pointers (just make sure you don't blind them)
12:06 yup I found this one actually outside this summer on a plant I was about to trim. I moved it to a tree nearby, I have arachnophobia but this spider with the orange striped legs I thought was so pretty, and it was huge, looked well fed. Didn't feel like hurting it especially if it WASN'T in my house 😅
I have at least 3 or 4 brown house spiders which live in the corners of my ceilings. They keep my fruit fly population in check, so I never hurt them. If I catch them roaming in my bathroom or kitchen, I move them elsewhere.
I already know so much about spiders, I have owned wild spiders, like wolf and jumping spiders, and honestly, I watch these videos mostly just to get any knowledge I don't already have. I also just love your content.
I don't really keep pets but if I find a spider web I usually make sure to not clean it up because I hate mosquitos a lot more than spiders. The spiders eat them so I don't have to spend 30 minutes trying to find the mosquito while I am trying to sleep.
Very informative. I especially appreciate the close-ups, allowing easier identification of each spider's features. It will make it easier to identify brown recluses now. And I like the confirmation of what I already suspected about cellar spiders. I'll be more gentle to yellow sac spiders from now on.
I’m not sure what spiders I see but I saw some just recently, I was changing a garbage and one lil dude crawled out. I just made sure he got to his new destination and moved on. We live in total harmony. I love spiders.💜
My cousin told me having cellar spiders in your house is good luck. I know she's full of it but they do eat other bugs that want to intrude, so I just leave them, when they're gone I just clean their web up! Love the channel
I can’t stand them they are some of the creepiest spiders out there how can you love a spider what about it is cute a cat and a dog are cute some of them anyways but no way your convincing me a spider is cute
@@jameson1465 no it’s not lol and a cat with 6 eyes and eight legs sounds like something straight off of a horror film it sounds disgusting and horrifying
My father was in the military at a teaining base in recluse country. They told the guys who were out doing field training not to sleep under the trees in this certain thicket because it was super full of them. Guy ended up taking a sleeping bag there and trying to sleep because he didn't think they were an issue but turns out about a dozen or so took exception to him when they crawled into his sleeping bag and him rolling startled them. Guy ended up dying from over a dozen bites. I also have a quarter sized jumping spider with white dots on it behind my TV. I just let him vibe, bro is like the doomslayer the way he vaporizes the roaches that try to eat the cat's food.
It's so awesome you and Travis are buddies. It's definitely a small world. I'm subbed to him also. You guys are awesome, it's nice to see you Collab with him and Jack.
This is one of my favorite videos you’ve done, Master Spencer. I think everyone would benefit from seeing it. Those cellar spiders appear fragile, but they are surprisingly tough when it comes to taking on other spiders. I’ve seen footage of them shooting web from a distance. Fascinating spiders. But then, they all are in their own way, and all have an important purpose in their ecosystem.
7:50 Every time I see a tan jumping spider I think of my spood 😢I had her for about a year and found her in a death curl one morning with no prior signs. she was extremely cute and inquisitive and made me change my mind about spiders and she was the first spider i got to see actively hunt something which was awesome to see I will always remember my mamas . Ps mamas was her name i called her that a few times and it stuck.
Little rectification for the cellar spider : their venom is actually very weak, even against arthropods. The reason why they're able to take down big insects and even large spiders like Tegenaria sp. is thanks to their extremely long legs that they use to entangle their prey in silk while keeping a safe distance between them. It's only when the prey is entirely wrapped up in web that they inflict the bite and start eating.
I have orb weavers outside my back porch who take care of all of the mosquitos and gnats. I watch them make their webs every year and I’m glad they come back!
The cellar spiders are savage and brave, they literally hunt down a large yellow sac spider that was just roaming lmao. These guys don’t let their size get in the way of obtaining food lol
As a kid, I used to be really creeped out, by cellar spiders, they would be in little corners of our home, both inside, and out, in southern California, where I grew up, great video Spencer, see you next Saturday 🙂
I’m a biologist too. I love spiders and I keep several species in my classroom to show students that they are our friends. Currently I have a female Western black widow and a Carolina wolf. Both are hunters which makes them so much cooler than most spiders. My widow is so intelligent that she built a web over the opening of the cage. When I feed her, the cricket gets caught in the web and she comes running over to kill it (widows don’t usually catch prey in their webs but instead use them to sleep in for protection and go out to hunt). The only web in the whole tank covers the entrance. Hilarious
I have a few phobias including arachnophobia but I am still fascinated by the sources of my fears. For example I love learning about spiders or the ocean because I think it’s kinda cool, but then I see a spider in real life and scream like a little girl. Btw I didn’t sleep after watching this. I kept feeling like a spider was crawling on me over the smallest hair moving.😂
Absolutely love this channel! Love this collab too! Thank you for all of your hard work and amazing quality content. I always look forward to your vid drops
Do you mean cellar spiders? Because "Daddy Long Legs" or "Daddy Long Leg spider" is a common name for both cellar spiders (Pholcidae) and also harvestmen (Opiliones).
I don’t know why I watched this because I knew it would cover what’s common in North America, here in the UK I think the only thing close that I’ve seen is a cellar spider looking thing in houses
You guys are very therapeutic in giving a better understanding of spiders. I have arachnophobia. But the thing about these underrated friends is, they seem just as afraid of me as i am of them. I seldom see them, except for the cellar spiders. Theyre everywhere, mostly in the cellar.
Omg the collab happened. Love having known that ahead of time. After seeing this vid I think I misidentified a hobo spider as some sort of weird wolf spider. Must've been nice to have such easy access to the subjects for this one :)
Once as a small kid, I remember we had a jumping spider living in my parents bed room, mostly chilling on the ceiling. They wanted to get rid of it. But I said, that he was my friend and so the spider stayed. For long:)
I have cellar spiders in near every room of my two story farmhouse. I’ll see them with flies occasionally. The most I do about them is clean out the dead parts of the web. They’re actually quite fastidious of their active web. You find parts with dust, they’re not using that, feel free to remove it. In my bathroom we have a long window with plants in pots all along we keep watered and pretty. In that cluster of plants, we have a cobweb spider that does an amazing job of dealing with bugs or flies that happen there. They are useful, and I’ve come to appreciate their utility.
I love, love, love spiders - thank you for giving them some positive attention 😊 I'm a fellow biologist working on her degree, and a huge advocate for people to understand and appreciate our native creepy crawlies. Finding spider eyeshine at night is a favorite activity!
@@ArthurKirklandsFavorite No, not really. The largest common spider I'm aware of is the "cardinal spider", and that thing caps out at a leg span of 2 inches. The most dangerous is probably the "false widow", and that's just because they can bite, not because their bite does any damage, really. If you are worried about our wildlife here in the UK, just remember that our most dangerous wild animal in the country is the badger, and a lot of our bugs look goofy asf. Look up "candy striped spider" or "zebra jumping spider". Even the UK's version of the huntsman spider is harmless ("green huntsman spider").
@@ArthurKirklandsFavorite sounds like a normal housespider - they will just chill out in webs all year until late summer or fall, then they (males or females, can't recall which) go out roaming for a partner, so they will wander all over the house seemingly at random :)
I leave them alone. They eat any wandering bugs. I find piles of dead roley Poley carcasses in the corner. Plus the jumping spiders help with my indoor plants. They are friends!
2:32 I feel awful, I've probably killed so many of these cause they look so similar to a brown recluse. But I'd sooner be safe than sorry especially since brown recluse are so invasive (as far as I've been led to believe) but I always prefer to err on the side of caution. Little wolf spiders tho mmm I could hug the lil fellas
I've had a little jumping spider living in my car for months, and its just cute. I'll be driving down the road and he'll just kind of dangle in front of me from a single thread of webbing, or a couple of times just decided to sit on my steering wheel as I drive. I did get a bit nervous one day when I found him on the outside of my windshield while driving to work, but once I stopped a stop light, he scurried into a safe crevice to get inside my car (I assume) because a couple of weeks later he said hi, dangling before me again. Haven't seen him in a bit, probably because its been cold for the past couple of weeks, but I do hope to see him or his family again in the future.
I'll also try to keep any spider in my apartment at least during winter season, as I've heard from another animal youtuber, that cellar and house spiders can get freeze to death, when it's really cold outside. I have for example a cellar spider right now sitting in a corner of my bathroom ceiling, minding his (or her?) business and a small house spider in my living room. Once it gets warmer outside, I'll set them off on my balcony, where they can crawl somewhere else, but will probably end up in my apartment again, because they will find another way in. But for now, they can rest and hunt here, if they are lucky to find some food...
@@MyWildBackyard saw one in my house and it’s been defending my door step ever since. One day I saw it fend off 3 small wolf spiders and it won I was so proud
They played too many videogames and were like "I want to have a really cool special ability and I want it to be a range attack with a movement impeding effect and also poison!"
Interesting piece about the cellar spider and calling out the arms race story. I would have assumed the same thing. It's rare a venom develops to one specific type rather than just being effective to all types. Great video! I subscribed
Brown Recluses are everywhere in Dallas, Texas. All homes, all suburbs, all businesses. 99.9% of all born and raised Texans have had a bite from them or at least an encounter in their own home, fatal and nonfatal.
I'm in Southern Ontario, and we've got yellow sack spiders as the most common household spider, along with some sort of little house spider and a fast fuzzy-looking black spider that might be some sort of jumping spider. Smiley face jumpers sometimes come in to visit from outside, too. We don't evict spiders anymore, since if they're here, they're finding prey, and that's likely a net positive. We've got house centipedes too, and they give me the willies but they get the same pass. Probably the coolest arthropod I've discovered indoors is book scorpions, they're so odd but interesting looking.
Great video. I have a mutual agreement with our cellar spiders. They get to remain in the out of way places. We get bad flies around in the summer(just the area) until we started keeping these guys around. We just clean back old webs leaving some, occasionally relocate when the babies are hanging out with the mother. It has been quite interesting learning from these spiders, they're almost like pets in an Addams Family way.
Found a black widow in my Jeep 2 weeks ago after putting the back seat back in. I keep it in the basement here in NY and was in a rush so I didn't bag it up last time. Cars aren't safe either, my dude.
I LOVE jumping spiders! They're adorable and sometimes can be pretty tame even if wild. Their curiosity also makes them fun to watch. I've owned a couple of them and watching them hunt can be interesting too.
We have a south facing patio with an overhang (in colorado) and it's a favorite spot for bold jumping spiders! they get pretty large, the biggest ones being about the size of a penny! The best part is, being active hunters that don't spin wevs, our front porch is pretty much cob web free! the bolds eat all those pesky cob web spiders... Every so often one of them will find their way into our home, and we have to escort them back outside. It's endearing and very cute how if you approach them they'll spin around and look at you like you've startled them 😅
What spiders do you see in YOUR house?

I had a yellow sack spider living in my room. I called it Jennifer. “She” would go from one corner to another. This went on for about 4 months. Then I found her on the floor. I put her next to one of my plants and brought her a spoon of water. She came over and drank. I’ve never seen anything like this. She only lasted about a week after that. It was very touching. I really liked watching her.

What a horrendous death. Rest in peace, brother.

Ever encounter camel spiders in the the middle east? Those bastards can see you and will aggressively run at you.

I really liked the flow of this video, no segment felt like it dragged or was unnecessary and I learned a ton even in those condensed presentations. I think you executed on the ex situ presentation style well, you’re giving me some ideas of what we could do with our new videos. Great work man!
Just moved in to a new house here in Florida…watching this vid with my new buddy the cellar spider (who was here first) watching over my shoulder!

Yeah cellar spiders are your friend because they actually hunt big and scary spiders for you despite their smaller size, these guys are beasts.

Same, I honestly just let the non-threatening spiders live in my house. They kill other bugs, they regulate each other too and they don't bite me so why wouldn't I want them to keep pests away?

Little rectification for the cellar spider : their venom is actually very weak, even against arthropods. The reason why they're able to take down big insects and even large spiders like Tegenaria sp. is thanks to their extremely long legs that they use to entangle their prey in silk while keeping a safe distance between them. It's only when the prey is entirely wrapped up in web that they inflict the bite and start eating.

Hilarious

I’ve been in the UK for a week and a rather large spider ran behind my bed. Should I be worried at all?
@@Handles_AreStupid The UK would be a great place for hyenas. Maybe we should reintroduce them there to make your lives more spicy?
@@ArthurKirklandsFavorite sounds like a normal housespider - they will just chill out in webs all year until late summer or fall, then they (males or females, can't recall which) go out roaming for a partner, so they will wander all over the house seemingly at random :)
I leave them alone. They eat any wandering bugs. I find piles of dead roley Poley carcasses in the corner. Plus the jumping spiders help with my indoor plants. They are friends!
6:40 HE IS SO CUTE
That scene right there made me really nervous and immediately go out of full screen
You followed the recommendation 🔥🔥🐐
Also I love the content, keep it up
Knew this one had to happen! Love getting the fan suggestions!
0:25 they're under my sheets with me too!?
😢
Yes they are.
How else they gonna cuddle?
i love when i skip an ad just to get another FUCKING ad
great work my man, hope you get famous one day
I got bit by a black widow a few years ago while I was sleeping that shit hurt like hell
The collab I never would have expected.
Also, damn, the carolinensis is huge, I almost thought it was a tarantula.
She was MASSIVE! I used a captive one for this specific demonstration but people do see these monsters in their houses sometimes!
Captured her after I “released” her, for the record
@@MyWildBackyard wish they were in my house
@@cds3703gotta move to Arizona or central Florida- we saw tons of giants in Ocala
Spitting spider is probably the most badass spider out there. Venom laced webs sounds crazy
Super insane. Couldn’t believe it the first time I read it tbh
Travis AND Spencer?! Whoa! All 8 of my legs are shaking in excitement.
Imma be honest man, there are no spiders in this house. It's currently -35°C here (-32°F) Waiting for the warmer seasons though😂
3:27 for spider poop
What?

Thank you. You're doing the Lord's work
@@josephmccarthy6098 no he is not. I don’t wanna know that 😂 LA LA LA LA LA CANT HEAR YOU !
0:23 but im in a car
Found a black widow in my Jeep 2 weeks ago after putting the back seat back in. I keep it in the basement here in NY and was in a rush so I didn't bag it up last time. Cars aren't safe either, my dude.
Same 😂
I LOVE jumping spiders! They're adorable and sometimes can be pretty tame even if wild. Their curiosity also makes them fun to watch. I've owned a couple of them and watching them hunt can be interesting too.
Hunting spiders are so adorable. I didn't know they existed till I saw one here in the UK..
