  • With Heaven & Hell in 2009 Ronnie James Dio played Wacken the second time. He gave an interview to our host Christof Leim in which they talked about the festival and what it’s like to be one of the pioneers of Metal. Once again it is revealed what a most likable person he was and how much he cared about his audience.
Heaven & Hell was a band whose members formed Black Sabbath from 1980 to 1982 and from 1990 to 1992.
WackenTV is the place to find hundreds of clips shot on site throughout the history of the world’s most famous Metal festival - getting more and more on every Monday and Thursday.

I remember back in the 80s reading in all the Magazines how Dio was the most intelectual singer in Heavy Metal, I only started seeing that through the years by reading and seeing his interviews. He was indeed Respectful, Humble and a very educated and smart Man. R.I.P RJD🤘

Ronnie is probably one of the only singers that you can say his voice is a instrument. No body will ever touch his body of work. Rip Dio.

I loved his connection with his fans. Would have loved to talk with him for some time. Such an interesting and intelligent man. He has always been an avid reader and it shows. Take notes kids. You won’t sound intelligent when all you consume is Tik Tok.
