Absolutely! The cup method works really well, and prevents thread from snagging and looping. I've been doing it for years, and it works well with any type of thread you're using!
I am new to embroidery. I am learning so much from your videos. I have another brother embroidery machine. I have. A question. I am using the mini snap cones. Would I put them also in a cup? I have been putting it on the top spool with a thread cap that you insert I it. I have had the thread get tangled this way. Would appreciate your advice.

This is the worst tutorial. Your camera isn’t facing the area, your hands are blocking it. Not helpful.
