Piers is absolutely wrong about it being bad for both of them. Johnny hit rock bottom after the op-ed. He's now gained substantial support from the public. Had he not filed the defamation low suit, I really doubt he would've been able to secure any movies or get as many people behind him.

I agree that Piers may not be fully aware of the public support for Johnny , particularly here in the states, however since it his job to comment on things such as this , he is kind of obligated to follow the case .

No matter the outcome of this trial, he already won people's hearts. Honestly, if you can't tell who is saying the truth (because as you say "both are actors") you know nothing about human and human behaviour.

I have not watched any of the trial because I am not as enamoured with celebrity as many people are. From my perspective, though, these are people that are very well, and in some instances obscenely over compensated for what they do, but by no means are they special and deserving of the public's undying devotion and allegiance. But if it fills your boots....
Whatever the outcome of the trial, the sordid revelations of two lives lived in such abject disgrace can not be unseen or unheard. And if Depp continues to sabotage his own career with insufferable conduct as reported from 'Dead Men Tell No Tails' the outcome of this trial won't matter.

I’m confused by all the people who say they both look bad, marriage was toxic, and therefore, they shouldn’t have aired their dirty laundry in public; “what is the point of all this?” Etc.
The point is about Defamation: Amber was his ex-wife and she accused him of domestic AND sexual violence. Expecting him to just walk away from that is absolutely ridiculous to me - especially if they’re false accusations!!
It takes a lifetime to build a great reputation, and only a second to completely destroy it. In this day and age where social media is so popular, it’s quite easy to destroy someone’s reputation. A single moment can be taken completely out of context and go viral overnight.
Walking away doesn’t always mean the problem will actually go away and get better.

I always thought they were as bad as each other, after watching this it’s very obvious Amber is the abuser. JD is a legend and was hilarious in court. You know Pierce, for someone who got so upset with Harry & Meghan doing damage to the monarchy (quite rightfully so, imho) and who's bread and butter this actually is, if we're completely honest - you seem over the top righteous about this particular matter.
Sure, private dirty laundry is nothing pleasant to watch and is always better kept private, but I think this ship has sailed the second Amber decided she needed to destroy Depp's professional life and reputation for her own gain. There was no need for that after it was all settled. And frankly, if her allegations are false, and they certainly are becoming more and more suspicious, this is a rather important case on a broader level. Read through the comments and see for yourself how many male victims of DV are coming forward - I know a few in my personal experience, they got their lives literally ruined by similar individuals, but had no way of proving it or making it better.
You might want to take an "objective" stand now because you have no personal experience of a psycho wrecking your career for good (I do, but I also think you've had your fair share of close encounters), but I believe that if you are washing your hands in situations of injustice, you are actually choosing the side of the oppressor.

It is one thing to make an opinion, as millions do; but to make a professional diagnosis based on two people performing for a jury... WOW!

@@judith3218 you're using "diagnosis" veryyyyy lenient. There's many manyyyy youtubers who are doctors, see people on the street, asking if they have an issue going on maybe they can help with. He explains its not a diagnoses and that it's just an opinion without formally seeing the patient and doing the necessary studies. Just because you're a medical professional does not mean you don't have the right to the first ammendment. If that the were the case, heard and anyone else with a public trial could sue the professional experts giving an opinion on TV. An opinion from a doctor or mental health professional, is not automatically a diagnosis
I’ve watched the whole thing, including her testimony from the uk case. She has zero credibility and will be pulled up on lies during cross examination. It’s ugly, no doubt about it but I think Johnny wanted his voice heard, yes he is an addict, but being an addict does not mean you’re a perpetrator of intimate partner violence. Lots of evidence out there that can’t be shown in court proves Johnny to be innocent of Ambers allegations.

I graduated in 2000 and immediately struck it big in commercial real estate until the crash in ‘08 but fortunately saved most of my money. Whenever I go out I look at the bill to make sure they didn’t scr*w me. People that have money don’t p*ss it away. If a woman is turned off by that it tells me everything I need to know about her.

If you was abused / threatened / cheated on repeatedly, kicked when you were at the lowest / then used you in every unimaginable ways - when all you wanted for that person is the very best that you could. Provided the utmost cares, be it security, health, free rents, all while extending this to their friends and families - just to be stabbed in the back.
Would you had just bit your lips and followed their demands? Paid millions - tax frees. And just wanted to move on with your life. Like JD did.

When you never forget the name of the woman who never offered to pay the bill it means you care a lot about who is going to pay the bill, it means you don’t really want to pay the bill. A true man doesn’t care a bout that!
Why are there so many inconsistencies and third parties who all have the same thing to say? That she’s abusive, narcissistic and has been violent before. Her sister, her friend, her ex partner. Her testimony had nothing to back it up and all her lies were pointed out on cross. We brought up our sons to be gentleman towards women. Young men need to know, that if they are in an abusive relationship, it's not even ok to be hit, screamed at with verbal abuse, and used financially, they can speak out. Try to match what Amber testifies with the evidences that they have so far and tell us if it does tally.
