Unbelievable. When I first started getting interested in Mario 64, the first A-press save I was there for was SOTT 6x with the Pedro spot, way back in 2015. Never did I think I'd be sitting here, on a late night in 2022 after seven years of fascination with this game (both as a viewer and TASer myself), watching that same star get obliterated 0x. This wasn't one new tech that blew the star up, it was the culmination of an absurd number of ingenious ideas, pulling together every tool available and pushing their limits, all to systatically pass each & every obstacle. This star truly feels like a celebration of everything this game has given us, and the immense progression of understanding and ingenuity which has been achieved over these years. Brilliant work everyone involved. Truly brilliant. A monumental achievement many years in the making, and I'm glad I could be still here to see it!
This is a true marvel of human ingenuity. Fighting for every inch of height. Every single time you'd make it just a bit further, I'd realize "oh my god, he's just getting up here to set the HOLP again." Creating each stepping stone, one at a time. The final ascent was a joy to watch. Contratulations on this momentous achievement!
After 9 years, 1 month and 29 days, TTC is finally conquered, with Stomp on the Thwomp resulting in 0x A Presses, every single TTC course completed in 0x A Presses and everything else. There are 14 A presses remaining, now there are only 11 unique A presses or technically 14 and all to be saved, and TASers can't believe they finally done Stomp on the Thwomp without using a single A press, or 0x A Presses. Props, thanks and congratulations to these TASers in the A Button Challenge community that made the world's most monumental task possible.

Genuinely thank you to everyone that contributed to this masterpiece of a peak-ABC strategy. You Gods deserve a break after all this.
I am in awe. It wasn't that long ago that completing this star without jumps was beyond anyone's wildest dreams. Now, through six hours of insane object manipulation, weird physics abuses, and lots of bob-ombs, it's possible. Over the years, there have been many stars in the ABC challenge that I'd dismissed as impossible, and yet time and time again you've proved me wrong.
I am in utter disbelief. This year was absolutely historic for this challenge, especially considering the hardest 0xA course was DECIMATED

After all these years, the literal pinnacle of TTC was finally conquered
Unbelievable! Mind-blowing! There was no guarantee AT ALL that TTC 0xA would ever be possible. No one in development could have even remotely considered designing SM64's levels with the ABC challenge in mind. We're seeing history be made right in front of our eyes! The amount of steps needed to pull this off is absolutely insane
That transparency effect for walls is seriously impressive. It's so effortless and smooth and it helps visualize what's happening by orders of magnitude.
The fact that this is also finally down to 0 A presses is also incredible. So many years, I'm really excited watching this!
It's like watching someone challenging Mt. Everest. The height, the careful routing, the injuries... You can't imagine someone jump-diving while climbing a tall tall mountain, right? Huge kudos to everyone involved, working because there's star up there
Bro when I saw this notification I literally started yelling like a maniac, this is huge!!! You guys managed to collect the most “vertical” star in the entire game without ever having to jump. Incredible stuff
Almost all of the combined magic of the A button challenge is compacted into this one A-Press save. I would imagine this is what an older brother would do to impress a little brother. I showed this to my dad and he walked away in 2 minutes not knowing what was going on.
I feel like a small child seeing a plane for the first time. Just pure amazement. The smile/minute count was through the roof.
Enormous thank you to Marbler. You took the role of the leader and delivered in such a short time. Incredible!
Enormous thank you to Pannen. Obviously we wouldn't be here without your years of effort.
Enormous thank you to Sjmhrp. Your number crunching for the squish cancel ascent was the revolutionary key to this victory.
Big thank you to ds273 for the final piece of the puzzle.
And also thanks to fifdspence and all of the rest of the ABC crew. All of your dedication is highly appreciated.
I can't believe it! One of the holy grails! The "Beyond the Pole" teams have already solved 2 of 3 challenges in so little time. Truly, this is the most exciting year in the history of the A button challenge.

Gosh, we're starting to run out of A presses to save, both because we literally have 14 A presses left and because a lot of those may just not be possible to save. Yours and everyone's work on this challenge is frankly inspirational, I love hearing about it whenever there's a development 💖

I remember accidentally doing this entire sequence as a child to pick up this star, just mashing the controller... mashing everything but the A button of course.
I did the same but i got a wild Mew encounter instead of the star
Well ABC crew, you did it. You actually did it.
The absolutely incredible success of the A Button Challenge has peaked, in a sense.
The single most vertical course in the entire game, completed without even thinking about the A Button.
This achievement took many- you know what, I can't even put it into words.
We all know that every single step of the plan requires amazing tech, cleverly put together in a complex plan, with an awe-inspiring concept.
So I'll just say: Thank you. Genuinely thank you to everyone that contributed to this masterpiece of a peak-ABC strategy.
You Gods deserve a break after all this.
Unbelievable. Congratulations to the crew, this is the most insane achievement in this challenge so far!
I am in awe. It wasn't that long ago that completing this star without jumps was beyond anyone's wildest dreams. Now, through six hours of insane object manipulation, weird physics abuses, and lots of bob-ombs, it's possible. Amazing work to everyone involved in bringing all the pieces of this puzzle together, it's absolutely incredible!
Also, I can't believe you can get into hands-free by being pushed off the treadmill while in the throwing animation, and dive while hands-free to grab the star spawner? This is new! I had to go read the notes to get the gist of what was happening at the very end.
I don't know what exactly happened (not a hardcore speedrunner, and sm64 isn't my thing really). But I do know that it's a big deal.
Everyone who worked on this and provided help deserves a round of applause, even I can tell this was a labor of passion.
I'm proud of you.
This is insane. All of you are insane. This might be, quite literally, peak a-button challenge. Congratulations to everybody involved!
Rest in Peace, Bismuths throat
the squish cancels look so cleaaaan this route, and there are so many without hours of manipulation? insane! the minds of the abc crew are always so amazing, congrats on this latest achievement!
It's been done. It's finished. It's amazing. Thank you Sjmhrp and Marbler. It couldn't have been done without you.
This is truly legendary. A long time ago, this star alone took 15. Now it takes 0 and the entire game takes less than that. Waiting for Bismuth's video so i can understand what's going on
This is so fantastic. I stopped checking in last summer and had no idea how much progress had been made while I wasn't looking. 5 whole A presses gone, 4 of them in TTC! This community never fails to impress. Although the methods in these tic toc clock stars are so advanced I can barely follow what's happening, I still feel lucky to be able to see the ABC progress this much. I still believe that a 0 A-press run might be possible.... and if it isn't, I know you guys will eventually make a perfectly optimized version of the next best thing!
Actually 6! JRB Treasure of the Ocean Cave was just brought down to 0.5 A presses last month, bringing the total down to 13.
Hats off (or in hands?) to the ABC crew for managing this insane accomplishment, I can hardly believe how much time and effort has gone into this! Congrats!

This is just utterly mind blowing. Seeing TTC finally be defeated after following this for years is just incredible, you and the community are some of the most dedicated people I have ever seen, it’s only a matter of time before we have a single digit number of A presses left! Seriously huge congrats on getting the most vertical star in the game without pressing A once.
I wish I had something to say here but this is so remarkable that I am speechless. You really undersell this accomplishment with the description. This is way more than one a press save, and I am so happy and proud of you for all of the work that the ABC crew has done. Bravo, take a bow, this is a standing ovation from me.
Over the years, there have been many stars in the ABC challenge that I'd dismissed as impossible, and yet time and time again you've proved me wrong. But this star in particular has always been seen as the 'holy grail' in my eyes. Making it all the way to the top of Tick Tock Clock without pressing A once is something I never thought I'd see happen in my lifetime. And yet here we are.
Congratulations to every single person who helped to make this a reality. I'm genuinely so inspired by all of you. This is one of the most remarkable feats in gaming history.

i am just at awe with the immense dedication that went into collecting a single star. theres something incredibly poetic about how it takes hundreds of clones to bring a single live bobomb up to the thwomp, only for that to be all that was needed up there (and some vsc)
finally clearing tick tock clock is a huge accomplishment and these videos just never cease to amaze me. im really proud of this community. For now the thwomp is stomped, but I have no doubt that some day, some way, you guys will manage to stomp away all of the remaining a presses. Keep doing what you do
