Morten Harket, the lead singer of a-ha.
Need no form for auto-tune, he only sing pure human vocal.
    What a singer he is!!!
Take On Me is just a pure Pop-masterpice song!

Hello from Norway! I was young when this was released in 1985. We were blown away and so proud of our fellow Norwegians in the band a-ha (pronunciation ah-hah, as in the light bulb moment). Michael Patterson were hired to draw the video. It was filmed on 35 mm and he drew over the frames. It took 4 months to finish the 3000 drawings used in the video. The video gave the song and the band attention, and Take on me is today one of the most famous songs from the 80s. So is the video, of course. The song has - in the US alone - been played about 350 times a day for nearly 40 years.
The band is well known in Europe and South America. They have had many hits, and released their eleventh studio album in October 2022. They are amazing musicians, and vocalist Morten Harkets voice is of another world. Try reacting to the follow up, "The sun always shines on TV". It's epic, and was a huge hit in Europe. In UK it was even bigger than "Take on me", which reached #2, while the follow up reached #1.

This was, by far my favorite band in the whole world when I was a teenager. I have just fallen in love from this band. Any song on the first album "Hunting High and Low" and the second album "Scoundrel Days" was more mature with amazing lyrics. Even were not so popular as individual singles. I love this group, and I heard any song they made together. Of course, I had a big crush for Morten, and I followed him even his soloist career, because for me, his voice is priceless. Just two days ago, I watched them in an Unplugged Concert with several Norwegian artists... but for me, Morten's vocals got the best part always.

I consider Michael Jackson's "Thriller" to be a short film, not a "music video," so to me, this is the greatest music video ever made. It was so far ahead of its time. I remember seeing it in college when it was released and being so blown away. It is the champ, still the champ, and always will be the champ.

The most expensive video ever made ( along with sowing the seeds of love, tears for fears) a big gamble for Warner. Just 2 guys in a studio put this masterpiece together. rotoscoping is the technique and originally invented by Walt Disney 30s cartoons and evolved over time.

Mags wrote this tune on a basic synth around 14 in a shed at the bottom of his garden. How cool is that !

a-ha is a Norwegian synth-pop band formed in Oslo in 1982. The Take on Me video is based on an animated short film called Commuter [a 1981 short by Michael Patterson, a geat song.

The video for take on me uses a technique called Rotescopy where professional artists were brought in to hand draw frame by frame the comic book scenes while live action is shot too. The video took 3 months to make and has over 3,000 hand drawings in it. The director is called Steve Barron and he made a lot of A-HA videos. I’ve been an A-HA fan for 40 years now they have produced the soundtrack to my life since i was a teenager. I’m 54 now. Take care 😘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Rotoscoping was pioneered by Walt Disney. Tom & Jerry in the 30s. Mags wrote this tune in his early teens. And was originally called lesson one.

@@Nigel-wu5lj Mags wrote the keyboard riff for take on me when he was 13-14 years old while at school in their old band Bridges and the song was actually called the juicy fruit song it’s on youtube if you want to hear it.

Hi thanks for the A-HA reaction (Take On Me) I come from Scotland in the UK and i have been an A-HA fan for 40 years now. They have produced the soundtrack to my life since i was a teenager and i’m 54 now. A-HA are still together they have released 11 albums and have countless beautiful songs it’s hard to pick a favourite because it’s always changing. A-HA are one of a very little number of bands that still produce terrific music even now in their 60’s. Morten the vocalist has the voice of a thousand angels. Try listening to A-HA’s song Summer Moved On especially a live version because it got them into the guinness book of records for the longest note held during a live performance and no one has broke it yet. The keyboard riff was written by Magne (Keyboard player) when he was just 14 years old and Paul (the guitarist) writes 90% of the songs. Hope you’ll listen to more A-HA . Take care 😘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ❤️🇳🇴❤️A-HA FOREVER

Such a pity you missed some of the video - it really makes the song! (One of the all-time great videos; some would say "the greatest".)
    Maybe have another look...?

React to “Weird” Al Yankovic’s music video, “Eat It”. It is a parody of “Beat it”, by Michael Jackson. It is not ahead of its time and people still react to it to this day. He turns songs into funny parodies.
