    Honda has a real classic there. If you don't need to take it on the highway, it will drive forever. It just seems like to me they could have bumped it up to 150 cc and been able to cruise at 60 mph. Would have been perfect.

    • @christophermarx8706

      It can't go 60? I thought it had the same motor as the Grom & Monkey?

      @@christophermarx8706 It depends on bodyweight and luggage, but that's what I hear on the reviews.

      In the UK for example you can ride a bike up to 125cc on a provisional licence without taking a test. I am not sure if this is the same in other countries?

      @@christophermarx8706it has a beefed frame compared to the supercub uts based off of whuch is actually faster than the grom i think becaise it has a slight fairing and jt has plastoc fender. The trail is made for puttering a trail or running to buy a quick sandwhich no faster than like 45mph but its got a metal fender and a stronger frame so it weighs more it gets less mpg and is slower than the super cub. The grom also has plastic fender and no luggage rack its got smaller wheels that suck at bumps compared to thrse but are cheaper and easier less rotational mass it gets better mpg but tbe grom isnt as cool as the trail. I just wish the trail wasnt as plastic. You do a lotnto get cost down its a gold product but look at the honda trail 70s 90s when they were brand new they had no plastic basically they had glass headlight. To me the nivelty and utility of thisnis nice for the price compared to things like hybrid camrys these days i wonder with how i plan to have everything delivered if i even need a car when the tractor bike segment is really what is useful 125cc very small and its a lot of plastic. So it could last a long time but its a 3500 dollar bike they sell for like 5k new in the long run they will sell for 3500 for decades junk ones even less it eill be about condition. If jt was left outside all day for 25 years it wont be worth much in 25 years if it has 45000 miles thats about the end for these engines. Age doesnt kill them. Wear does.

    This will be my first bike. I'm not looking for a full size bike. I don't want some Harley fat boy, or a crotch rocket. I just want a bike I can zip around in town on. I like this styling.

      It’s gonna be my first bike as well. Me and a few buddies will all be getting 125cc or less bikes for just puttering around town on. We all came to the same conclusion that a huge/fast bike isn’t necessary for us to have fun.

      This bike isn’t set up to zip around town. For that, get the standard Super Cub. Less $, made for what you said you want to do.

      @@Indyman4288i took msf on a 150cc then my first bike was a 30+ year old honda 650 that could do 120mph but it was real sketchy and then i rode a friends grom once and then i sold my old 650 to him to upgrade from his grom i got a 2008 kawasaki vulcan 1600 that was 10 years old for like 3 grand. At the same time i also had a 2000cc 2008 vulcan kawi i had access to parked right next to it. I sold that 1600 and got a 2024 trail 125 and let me tell you the big abikity to get on a 1600 and get off and get on a 2000 was incredible and being able to do 100mph with ease like it was born for it was really cool and made it so i coukd go farther away easier sure but also i came to realise most days I wouldnt drive 200 miles away and back or more it was nice to have that abikity i got to go on some cool trips but there was a lot of times where i just wanred to go to the grcoery store for a corn dog and pulling out a 1600cc 2000cc motorcycle and then creeping it around the parking lots was a complete asspain nightmare. I dont leave my county 99% of the time and all my plans i have are for around here and so i had riden a grom once circle around a parking lot before and i knew what i was getting into so i bought a trail 125 and it is bettee than my old honda from the 80s or the kawasakis. I put a cooler on the luggage rack as a trunk, its so easy to pull it out of thr garsge i do not even have to sit on it i can wheel it out like a bycicle. My 1600 kawasaki got 40mpg and prius get 55 these days a corolla gets 40 and motorcycle supriror form of solo transport locally and a trail 125 i get 120+ mpg and i mean ill be at full pin for 10 miles itll be at 52-57mph unless the wind it blowing or its uphill and i get like 128 mpg i could actually get more. I top it off once in a while it cost me 2 bucks. Insurance cost 8 dollars and i dont even have to pay it they tell me jjst pay the full price by sometike before a year later. In my honda accord sedan it cost the same price as this scooter and it was 15 years old insurance was 50 dkllars then 55 then 60 and gas was becoming the same way and 4 tires it needed pully belt bulbs buttons you knkw the deal bro for same price i get brand spanking new 2024 led they wont burn out for a long long time long long time light emitting diode way ahead of light bulb. I couldnt eben tame my old 650 offroad it was old and heavy. The 1600cc vtwin heavy. A grom not as good offroad because of tires. To me there is cheaper bikes bro but you have to see how theyre made in china 😂 theyre made in china bro the trail 125 is assembled in Thailand a lot is made in thailand a lot is also made in japan the motor is made in japan by the japanese. Its not a chinese motor. To me it is a great bike because almos tno matter what unless its got problems they will hold some valud unlike chinese bike you buy for 3500 and you have a hard time selling it for 1500. You lost 2000. A trail 125 you buy for 5000 and you sell for 3500 you only lost 1500 and if you buy a corolla.youll lose more. You buy a rebel 300 youll lose more on depriciation.

    We’ve had this bike for a couple of months along with the new monkey. I switch rides between them around town. Practically every time I stop at the shop or gym someone asks me about the bikes. Many times folks talk about the bikes they started on like me in the eighties (I rode the family’s Trail 70.) My nephew comes over to hang out and ride bikes through town and he loves the trail. We have a great time just puttin around on the pooter scooters. They really are a blast. On another note, I can’t wait for the Dax 125 to get here. It’s the most like the trail 70 I’ve seen.

      If i had to rank the honda minis in order of cool factory id out grom at bottom, then monkey, then dax, then trail 125 but sometimes i wonder if dax and monkey are interchangable. The grom is the closest to a conventional motorcycle so that is notable, but the monkey is arguably the most unique in terms of how its kinda stubby designed and i also dont like that about it. The dax is the opposite its long i like that but the trail is my favorite because its the most useful in the real word.

      I hope we skip that, and we do 125s and 250s because honda could make a trail version thats got the rebel 300 engine with the 6 speed and they could up the luggage rack capacity the speed it could maintain higher it would be better for crossing alaska more timely manner. Ive come to actually like the 125 more than I thought though it is more capable tban youd expect tbh I mean its literally a tiny piston

      Its 1.4 and i am 6 foot tall 155 pounds up or down depending I also have a cooler sideways on the back for maximum wind resistance, i will putter the side road to town at like 3t 40 45 maybe i tale the 55 in the way bacm if its not busy ill do 53 most the way full pin and i ride around town speed limits under 45 sometimes 25. Sometimes i speed uo slow sometimes i speed up fast and i still get 128 mpg i have a very well rounded route i hit a little of every road in my area in a day fast ones slow ones imbetween ones. I still get 128mpg. Id get more mpg if i didnt take the 55 road as much and also i could accelerate slower or brake longer i do engine brake downshifting as the manual reccomends to do as you come to a stop slowing down. If i hit the sloe road i to town each way every time and i didnt go 5 over i coukd get like 150 mpg i bet you. I just dont becuase i like to open up tbe firebreathin 125cc amirite boys 10.25% of a liter. You really want to let it eat and have fun too you can expect over 100 mpg even if you are fatter and go full throttle everywhere i think. The kighter you are the less you ride on 55mph roads the closer to 150 mpg you could get. I am 6 feet tall a little skinny i have diet issues intestinally so i am aerodynamic not fat butni do have a red cooler sideways i suspect that affects but its also stereotypically the right thing to do it doesnt look as good if i mount my cooler longways. Mpg depends on a lot you will get antwhere from 100 to 150 depending on if your fat if its uphill if the wind is blowing if you have the luggage rack loaded up.

    without the original hi/ low gearing which allowed the old trails to climb... well now you just have a nifty looking scooter. capable as a yamaha street scoot.... fail honda. look over the specs, then see without the retro look this bike is nothing special unless you want a local suburban toy, for cruising around town this scoot would be years of fun

    • @BrickNick931
      @BrickNick931  5 месяцев назад +3

      What did you want them to do? lol they gave you more gears than the original / fuel injected / storage racks, so you can actually drive it down the road go to the grocery store or around pit lane and move gas cans around. you aren’t going to be doing 55+ plus cause it’s a 125 to begin with and not a full sized bike either so it moves along just fine for what it is. Throw a bigger sprocket on it if you want that first gear lower. lol
