  • I haven't been able to focus lately, and ADHD doesn't make things any easier. So I decided to try different methods to improve my focus for 30 days. I tried all sorts of things, including Nootropics, fidget toys, a digital detox, the Pomodoro method, and meditation.
A huge thanks to Jude from‪@BeingIntegrated‬ for talking to me about the power of meditation, specifically for those of us who have ADHD.

Hello Laura, what an accurate description of my experiences before heavy task accomplishments! When I fell on this video, after watching your bare foot transitioning, I couldn't believe not being the only one to literally suffering from the torture to accomplish a difficult task! Feels like we belong to a different dimension, but have to constantly readjust to fit in this 3D world.
Thank you for sharing an honest journey into such a familiar situation.

I use a timer in the opposite way. If I'm doing a task I have my watch vibrate every 10-20 minutes, and that vibration is a reminder to check in and make sure I'm still working on the intended task, rather than to take a break on the task. I also use it if I'm doing something I'm likely to get lost in - the timer going off every 15 minutes yanks me out so I don't waste 4 hours cutting my hair.
ADHD meditation is often much more enjoyable if I focus on a specific visual or a specific noise (like a bowl sound bath), or I need to be moving (stretching, yoga flow, tai chi).

I don't (didn't) have ADHD. But my focus and short term memory has evaporated since indulging in social media for a few years. Long form thinking type of tasks have helped (reading/writing) with focus when I engage regularly. But short term memory is gone... For now. Great video!

I adore this video :) It felt like a description of what I've journeyed through, but over the course of a lot longer instead of just one month haha! Accept I haven't tried Nootropics yet. I have found meditation to be so helpful, and I love what you said about it helping accept our feelings instead of sort of magically find calmness or focus. Also, it's a total myth that we need to stay still through meditation! Thank goodness lol. Doing a digital detox I found it was tough to have less distractions, that "quiet" was deafening and almost made me anxious at first... But then it became calming and I added music back in :) I love the way you did the pomodoro technique, that's super clever!

Your videos are so entertaining, informative and pleasing to watch. I'm really confused why you don't have a lot more views. Keep it going.
As a fellow Adhd guy. I can highly recommend tai chi. It's mediation in motion. Very nice for us fidgety people

Thank you so much! That means a lot. And I'll have to give tai chi a try!

you could try fixed point gazing meditation one day, i found it to be more doable with adhd since i have something that is external (the light of a candle e.g. or a yantra) also its interesting to move your attention around your field of view while fixing your visual on the same point.

lol, she really did took Alpha GPC for 2 days, expected it to kick in as if it was a stimulant, and then completely abandoned that route?
Nootropics, the 90% at least, do not work that way
