YES! I just started meditating daily and it already has helped me separate myself from my anxious thoughts. I totally agree with everything you said and I’m glad you’re introducing meditation to young people! 🧘♀️
i originally discovered meditation when i started having panic attacks a bit over 3 years ago. they were affecting my life to the point that i could barely sit in class = my grades got downhill very quickly. our school psychologist introduced meditation to me as "breathing exercises" and it took me a while to believe it would actually help. now, three years later, after research, trying different methods, different apps and adding yoga to the mix as well, *everything* feels so much lighter. the biggest change for me is the one you also talked about; realizing that my thoughts don't define me and shouldn't have the full control on me. "i'm not my thoughts", is what i like to say. my ability to focus in class and in exams has absolutely increased as well. bad days are part of life, and also the moments when thoughts feel unbearable but it helps a lot when you know they're *okay* and temporary. i could talk about the positive effects of meditation for hours but the reason i told my story was that i wanted to be "a living proof" of how those 5-20 minutes you take each day to meditate, can literally change your life. it may feel unrealistic to some, which i totally get, but it definitely is worth the practice. thank you for making a video of this topic!
@@zlm08 the app i found the most helpful was headspace! there are also some lovely little clips on different topics & techniques in addition to the meditations. it's also visually very soothing! some features on the app are free but there are also subscription plans available (i liked how you could connect the monthly subscription to your spotify premium, it made the price feel a little lighter hahah) my ultimate favorite method/technique is body scan! there are loads on youtube too :) overall i prefer guided meditations as they make me more conscious of the present moment!
I wish schools implemented meditation more it’s so great. When I was in college (years ago now!) I did yoga for an hour a week to meet the hours I needed as I was doing less subjects and a gcse retake. Our yoga teacher was so great and we just used to meditate and stretch and pause so great. Totally underrated ❤️
Man I started tearing up after the video because her smiling throughout the video made me realize that’s how I want to be…have a natural glow and be happy!
i love u with all my heart omg, you are an angel i stg, the most powerful influence of the most positive things, the world is lucky that people like you exist and i aspire to have even half the influence you do one day, i love you 🦋☀️🧡✨🌸🌈🧚🏻♀️
Love all your videos💕. This kinda reminds me of Salah, which is a physical, mental and spiritual prayer that Muslims do five times a day at specific times. It's really beautiful, cleansing and calming.
the free app 'insight timer' is AMAZING, so so many options for guided meditations, even a timer with ambient sounds and bells for those who would rather meditate on their own. there is an option for literally every mood, feeling or worry. i second you in saying that listening to one every night as i fall asleep changed my sleeping pattern for the better. i so highly recommend xx
I always start meditation and then start feeling happy, and then I leave it and then after some days realised what I have missed but from now I will do it constantly and also jade pls make a video on how to stay consistent
thank you so much for this video wow! I think watching this was the last push I needed to finally start meditating as I've been wanting to for soooo long but kinda just didn't know where to start. I graduated from high school at the end of May and I'm really trying to lessen my anxiety, work on myself and get to know myself a little bit better this summer before I start uni, and I'm hoping getting into the habit of meditating is gonna help me in doing so xxx
Oh my god, I needed this video so much! I wanted to start meditating, but couldn't find a push for it and then you helped me again! I'm so grateful for everything you do, it's incredibly helping me every day, thanks you so much💚 You save my life, love you🌸
I swear you are proper making want to start meditating again, I used to love it I don’t know why I stopped. You mentioned so many things that it helps with that I have problems with like frustration with people and getting distracted. I might try meditating tomorrow haha thanks for the inspiration to start meditating again x
im 16 and was introduced to meditation when i was about 12/13, I meditate most days and it’s definitely changed my life!! sometimes it’s a whole hecking religious experience- I sometimes feel vibrations, have future visions or even just cry my eyes out. mostly though it’s helped me through stress and troubling times in my life and I think it’s so important to encourage it in younger people! Thank you for using your platform to promote such an amazing thing x
I used to meditate every single day, but one moment it did not feel something I wanted to do anymore. So I took a huge break! Now yesterday I listened to a youtube music video where an indian flute was played. And I just sat...did not close my eyes tho, because then my mind just..wandered. I just kept staring at my curtains..feeling the notes of the flute flowing through me like water...and it was liberating. Meditation does something to us, to our brain (and heart :) ). So now I am thinking to meditate for 5 minutes as well... Thank you Jade for this video. You look amazing. And also congratulations for finishing your A exams ;)
Expectations cause anxiety and depression in life and are apart of life as we can improve ourselves through facing challenges. I find that mindfulness and meditation takes my mind to a place that feels like freedom, it feels natural
it’s so nice identifying with you 💛 i definitely can notice a huge difference on my behavior during the days i meditate, i get calmer, more intuitive and in tune with whatever i am doing. so nice and worth it
I've been using breathing techniques for meditation before sleep to treat my insomnia due to severe social anxiety/depression. My insomnia is cured but I was so surprised as it has done wonders for my social anxiety/depression as well...after decades of suffering from sad I've become wired 24/7 to being in a state of fight or flight mode. Practicing meditation really gives me that moment of pause, to take a breath and observe my thoughts and surroundings. Major mood booster too as you feel more control of negative thoughts...its there but your less prone to be triggered by them.
I listen to meditations before I fall asleep and it's honestly life changing. Being able to close my eyes and focus on my breathing is just SO healing!

Excellent video, Jade! I have no idea what you are planning to do with your life, but you sure would make a fabulous psychologist/social worker or something in that field. You have a perfect understanding of stress and how the mind works!
Hi Jade, maybe i'll start meditation and try to practise it every morning. I had awfully stressful and hard academic year and now during well deserved vacation I am sad, bored, have no money to go on a trip or something but still no energy to pick up a job. I have seen many videos about meditation but you gave the actule meaning. thanks...
I’ve been using Insight Timer and Smiling Mind they’re both really good free meditation apps. Insight timer does have some courses that cost money but most of their meditations are free. I’d highly recommend those two! :)
Personally I've tried both Calm and Headspace, and I found out I defnitely prefer Headspace. It's amazing and the aminations are soooo cute ♥
Headspace is great! You can do quite a lot of meditations free! The “basics” pack is probably the best to start with ☺️
