All forum discussion I saw about the use of non OE filter by dealers
    www.ridgelineownersclub.com/threads/premium-guard-vs-honda-oem-oil-filter.241419/
few things to note after looking at the mice type on the filter
    1) it is made in Vietnam
    2) it says designed filter so it is a private brand filter dealer owned brand name
sort of like the House brand of your local auto parts store
I am going to order a Premium Guard (made in China) - pg4612 from amazon
    www.amazon.com/1971-2020-various-Mitsubishi-Infiniti-Chrysler/dp/B000W24ZOI
and use it on my Honda Odyssey then cut it open to see if its similar to the Precision Parts - ppg4612.. the pg4612 is a 5k filter. and my honda odyssey oil change interval is about 3-4k using syndetic blend oil
I may also try ECOGARD X4612 which is similar made in China

What Idiot Honda Dealer would Fit ANYTHING other than the Blue colored Honda Branded filter ?? .
Clearly a dealer willing to Risk his franchise for nothing..

Why TH is a Honda dealer installing an aftermarket filter, and a non-spec shorty 6607 application size to boot. Is it a dedicated (Honda only) dealer? The Fram 7317/14610/(50/7356 is the spec size, equivalent to Honda A02 OEM filter size. The PPG doesn't look bad, but I'd want spec size and a silicone adbv if possible. The OEM A02 is Fram made filter with silicone adbv. It's nothing special, IMO. Lots of quality choices in 7317 size with silicone adbv and metal caps if that is your preference. Even though it looks decent, I wouldn't be happy with Honda dealer using an aftermarket oil filter.

exactly; I also found on some forums other dealers doing the same thing. and using ppg4612. I purposely did not mention dealer I went to. it is a honda dealer but they also have used cars on their lot that aren't honda's I dont like fram filters unless they have metal endcaps. 7317 yes is what fits it, however 6607 will also fit it and is just shorter in size the 7317 by-pass 9-15psi and the 6607 is 13psi according to fram's website. been using st6607 for numerous years, as it would fit multiple cars in the family (Honda and Nissan) well the Nissan is no more I sold it.

@@dfields9511 Yeah the shorty 6607 will fit and work, just shorter. Honestly wouldn't be too concerned about bypass psi. Nissan actually specs the 6607 on many vehicles, that even though the longer 7317 will fit and work on them too. All things equal prefer the longer filter. Still, no self-respecting/honest Honda dealer should be using an aftermarket filter, imo.
