the difference between slayer and other band is that slayer holds a mirror to humanity better than anyone else.
Tommaso Famularo Not more that Death tho
It smashes you the mirror into the face until you scream...
@@treytreyrob1 A lot of death is simply pretentious drivel. Earlier Death albums were yes, but after Human and maybe ITP Chuck just wrote anything.
@Mark Hammond Except they don't. Hell the only one in Slayer that believes in the Devil is Tom Araya because he's catholic.
@Mark Hammond You're a fucking idiot you know that? Christ man get a clue, you realize they are pure shock value, Tom is catholic, and Kerry King/Jeff Hanneman were atheists. they don't believe in the fucking devil lmfao.
Lol. You guys went from Smiling to Terror in mere seconds. SLAYER has done it's job.
I love this comment. 🤘🏽
Like as soon as tom said nightmare...they turned into kids getting introuble 🤣
The blank dumbfounded stares are the best of any vid they've done.
@@Incab Slayer had done their job yet again. \m/.
Couldnt have said it better.
Who else was watching this and smiling saying “this is slayer for ya”
I would of started them off with War Ensemble but Silent Scream is a badass substitute.
Racershane21 that look on the faces of the mentally ambushed 🤪🤪🤪
Slayer exposing evil. Holding a mirror to the soul of humanity
People think most metal is about being evil but listen a little deeper and it's usually just violently against evil.
The expressions on their faces when they began reading the lyrics is priceless.
I absolutely love this song.....from an era when Slayer was simply eerie, heavy-as-f*ck, and just totally dominant. No one could touch slayer in the 80s.
Best slayer reaction i have ever seen/heard , by miles . Super intelligent breakdown of the lyrics , you guys deserve way way more subs .
Whoa! That’s huge !!! Thank you! This vid earned song of the week after our first week of reviews! Thank you!
Whoa!! Huge compliments!!! Glad u enjoyed it!! -Sori
VinAnd Sori your welcome !!!
Its a shame because slayer reaction vids usually bring in huge amounts of views , which turn into subs. Heres hoping that your channel grows and grows . Peace !!!
I agree! Finally someone gave the credits Tom Araya deserve! I suggest review the song 'Disciple', very good lyrics. Great guys, keep it up!
Seriously, though. I don't think any Slayer fan has dissected their lyrics in such depth. Well i certainly haven't and i have a Slayer tattoo and named my 1st born Araya. I think yalls right, this is the most brutal pro life song of all time.
“A shock to the system.” EXACTLY what Slayer was and still is about✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼
This song is one of the reasons I love heavy metal. It is not afraid to tackle uncomfortable subject matter head on, and not hold back.
Love it when brutal truth brings awareness. Slayer = greatest thrash band of ALL time. G.O.A.T.
Wayne Hadsell Nah Kreator
Agree. .. slayer
@@HardKore5250kreator, pleasure to kill stands up with just about anything in the thrash world
@@HardKore5250 Kreator has no nuance, just far left nonsense.
You both rocking out, then coming to the realization of what you were hearing. You began to truly listen and not just hear, and seeing the transformation of shock upon your faces was truly priceless. I enjoyed your analysis of what the song made you feel. You have my sub.
Blunt but makes you take notice of a horrible thing.
I personally like writing that gives you the brutal truth.
Tru story ! That song got song of the week last week!
ding ding!

This Song Is On South Of Heaven
And It Came Out In 1988
@@joeteague4058 would have been better if they had played south of heaven and let it bleed right into this like it does on the album!! 🤘🤘
LOL The look on your faces were priceless...Slayer minces no words. Its the harsh truth in all its brutal madness. Great breakdown. I was going to tell you he is a pretty devout Catholic but I see others have mentioned it. Great Job guys.
Appreciate it my man! Welcome to the fold!! 🤘🏾-Vin
Lol which part was priceless?? Lol -Sori🤘🏻
ding ding
I kinda laughed at your demeanor change. went from rocking out to speechless awe. the knd of reactions I think people want to see in reaction videos, especially of metal.
@@VinAndSori
Never seen a song make you
Speechless than this one
One of my top 10 Slayer songs.
Came for the music, stayed for the shocked faces, thoroughly enjoyed the commentary. Also love the Tool reactions.
Appreciate that!
Missed the whole concept by a fuking mile plus...... uneducated ,terrified children... Please go back to school and get a basic logic, critical thinking education... Reality is hard fact , superstitions are disgusting basterdised fantasy's.! Open mind means proof=proven logical thinking imperical evidence!
1988 South of heaven was the record
Listed! -Sori✌🏻
And nothing else was.
That drumming. 👌
Kudos to you both for quickly recognizing what this is. For or against, it makes one stop and think..
Slayer has been misunderstood ever since they began. They've always talked about very controversial subjects in a very blunt manner. Because of that they have actually been accused of truly believing that way and even promoting it. And while there are a couple of members that have been in Slayer that do lean a little darker in thoughts, Tom Araya is Catholic and has always tried to put his spin in their Style lyrically. Makes for a very interesting listen.
True story
Jeff was just a pessimist, I don't know what his religious beliefs were. Kerry King makes his apparent though.
@Joe Black it's not trendy to do so but it shouldn't be hard to admit that they do have satanic songs... Altar of Sacrifice is literally a satanic worship song
Tom Araya started writing lyrics with the songwriting for South of Heaven. He always dealt with the more lighter side of life using a slayer fitting language.
Slayer tells great stories no more than that.
Thanks guys!!! Warned you it is a brutal and powerful song...glad you appreciated it. Given your Christianity I hoped it would be impactful...thanks for the deep breakdown! Araya was raised Catholic...Slayer has always been about an afront to the senses...to offend, to scare, to shock, this song is some of their best work and very underrated. Amazing that the “Evil Slayer” writes the most pro-life song ever...your reaction was great and hopefully gives others a new appreciation for Slayer.
Def the best recommend to date !
I chuckled when you mentioned "this song is the most aggressively pro-life song of all time" because that's what I was thinking of when I heard the song the first time.
I was shocked!! -Sori✌🏻
the silent scream is the title of a really famous anti-abortion propaganda film from the early 80s
Navi - dir en grey has such a song
Well Tom Araya is a Christian. So yeah lol.
Slayer is intensity
Slayer - Read Between The Lies from the album SOUTH OF HEAVEN. I really want to hear to your Christian reaction
Listed!!!
I second this
@@VinAndSori ...1 year later, where's it at?
Soooo this still needs to happen
Good suggestion 👍
I love that you people have such an open mind about the song. Best reaction video I've seen like, ever.
Awesome! Check out our behemoth stuff!
I'm totally surprised you didn't run in the other direction like your hair was on fire. Or even for releasing your reaction which was more genuine and shocking than a regular song would draw. Respect for looking for the deeper meaning. Aggressive expression isn't always born of hate. It can be born of pain and loss.
ABSOLUTELY
Spot on , dude !
Good comment!
I love seeing reactions to the music I grew up with. I've been a Slayer fan since I was about 16. I'm 48 years old now, and am pretty distraught with their retirement. Can't wait to see what Kerry comes up with next, as he's not ready to retire.
My favorite song off this album. Love this jam. This is one badass song. SLAYER 4 ever.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
This song makes you impervious to pain for a bit. It's like getting a star in mario brothers.
My favorite reaction video of all time. Love you guys.😊
I love you two! Intelligent discussion of a metal song, awesome
Thank you !
I love y'all's reaction to Slayer coming from a huge Slayer fan
Best drums ever
a very Nice analasys. Been a slayer fan for almost 30 years, never seen such an open hearted view ever. Kudos to you- and you are right. Slayer isn't evil, just provocative
Pls, react to Slayer - Angel of Death
Awesome song and lyrics
Have you joined the cult Brother ?
Indeed, You guys should agree to Angel of Death :D
Yes!!! Do Angel of Death.... or maybe Dead skin Mask!!!
These guys take everything so literally. It’s all shock factor. Love it!!
I mean, it's clearly a song about abortion. Paints a picture in lyric of child, mothers ans societies points of view.
True it is that good art often times poses questions and scenarios and doesn't answer them. It leaves that up to the viewer. And then viewers discuss what they get from it. And here we are.
King and Hanneman were the lyricists, with Jeff's input being more geared around war and Kerry being more inclined towards religious and societal issues.
Killer review guys, this was one of my all time favorite Slayer songs and you absolutely nailed it.
Araya wrote the lyrics for this song and did much of the lyrics from South of Heaven on (maybe half)...even a lot of the Hanneman lyric credits early were collaboration with Araya but not credited.
Thank you for your opinion , it's much appreciated. This song hits me harder than most... Thank you again and good bless you both....

That double threw the entire song🤘 in my opinion S.O.H album is Dave's finest drum work for Slayer
This is Dave Lombardo at his peak, his drum playing is top notch in this album, although South Of Heaven is less straightforward than Reign in Blood (in fact is way more progressive) i prefer Dave's playing here, it's absolutely spectacular!
I respectfully disagree. Lombardo is not a technician. But he has feeling and "swings it" which is a gift in drumming and not exclusive to even great drummers of the mainstream. His solo material is sub par at best but his vinyl is exceptional. But i agree that this is his best work but more technical than Hell Awaits and Reign in Tomato Sauce. @@JuanIparraguirre
You two have such a wonderful and interesting take! Wonderful! Bravo! Make more videos!!!!
Don't matter what someone says: this is your best reaction EVER.
@VinAnd Sori one of your first reactions and still one of your best. A song that truly shocked and caught you off guard. Your lyric breakdown was on point and it really feels like this song was the beginning of what your channel has matured into - taking on tough subjects. I am upgrading this song to a 10 or at least your reaction gets a 10.
I love how y'all breakdown these lyrics. Slayers lyrics are deceptively deep and complex, OK some songs are just pretty straight forward (Necrophobic). Would love to hear more lyric breakdowns.
South of Heaven - 1988. Remember hearing this when it came out. I was a junior in high school. Brutal
Hands down the best reaction to slayer's Silent scream! There is hope for Christianity (y)
Gotta agree with most of the comments here and the look on your faces was worth it. Great breakdown of the lyrics. They would be lynched today if they brought this out now. Am enjoying the channel.
Great breakdown again. I learned something new.
Ya? What part ?
VinAnd Sori well for one I learned the lyrics for the first time just now so there's that lol. And the part about suffering meaning allowing.
Cool ya I loved it when Vin added that part! Glad u learned something! ✌🏻
A fascinating breakdown of one of the most brutal songs. For sure, this is one of my favourite music reaction videos.
LOMBARDS DOUBLE BASS DRIVES THE DEPTH OF THE LYRICS AND HIS FILLS ARE
TIGHTER THAN A WATER FROGS ASSS
Suffer the children condemned.. Great observation.. Thank you for this
This song is on South Of Heaven and it came out in 1988 great review by the way
Thanks Man! This song won “song of the week” last week
Such an awesome song! Always has been one of my favorite Slayer tunes.
2:21 - The look when you realize an assumed Satanic band has a God worshiping lyricist.
Slayer is definitely the most confusing metal band ever lol
Wrong bitch.
Not assumed satanic at all by the way.
All the band members were atheists, the only band member who believes in Satan is Tom Araya, only because he is catholic.
Kerry King is a card carrying member of the 700 club.
man been watching a few months now and just stumbled across this video, you are very intelligent! gave me a whole clear picture on this song, I've subscribed after this one , thanks lol
What’s funny is I learned to play this song on guitar a decade ago but this is the first time I’ve analyzed the lyrics. It just jumped up on my list of favorite Slayer songs.
I would like to recommend Hatebreed - Supremacy of Self. It helped me get through some tough times when I was younger.
Hatebreed!!! Finally a hatebreed recommend !! PLEASE tell me you’ve joined the cult so we can list it??!!
VinAnd Sori I have. Even got a few of my buddies to watch with me.
Legit! We’ll push your request up
slayer never holds back, i love these guys so much, my great regret is not seeing them live before Tommy packed it in and of course before Jeff died, MFIn slayer forever...
New subscriber. Love how you guys break down the lyrics. Very open minded review...it's this non judgemental approach that has brought me back to Christ. I'm stoked to find more and more people who follow Christ and still appreciate metal thank you for your intelligent reaction and breakdown.
Nice to finally see proper assessment into Slayer. From a fan who saw them in 1986 headlining for Overkill and Motorhead. Most Slayer songs are written this deeply and well about said subject. Great video, thanks. Keep listening to Slayer!
my take on " sanctify lives of scorn "
back in the " good ol days" when unwed pregnancy was taboo... peopel would secretly get abortions, so as to avoid the " scorn " of an illegitimate child being born... the " sanctify" is sort of a " removal of the problem" and hiding the " sin"
One of the best reaction vids I’ve seen. It’s very long winded but quite in depth. I’m not sure I have time for all these though.
You should revise your titles to "BREAKDOWNS". Reaction doesn't cut it. Very nice lyric breakdown. Top notch. People don't usually dig in to lyrics like you do. Props to you two!
Appreciate that Jeff!!
As Tom Araya said: "We want to create as much shock value as we can", well there you go guys!
Slayer' s master piece !!!
Thankyou for being smart, and dealing with this honestly.
Awesome reaction, loved the analysis. Keep up the great videos and the motivation. :)
Suggestion: Never too late - three days grace
I usually don’t like three days grace, but the one x album is great and I think it would be interesting if y’all did a breakdown on that song.
Such a hopeful beginning of this channel
People just think its all noise...no one ever really listens to what metal musicians are saying..and if they did they would understand the world a lot better...this song is brutal...yes, but its a brutal truth....but people hear the name SLayer and minds close. Take a listen to what they are saying...you would understand your children more and understand some of the pain in this world
This album shaped my childhood and who I am. Kudos for this video.
Ne Obliviscaris - And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope
I've been a Slayer fan from the beginning, literally. I'm the same age and grew up in the South Bay between the guys in Slayer and Hetfield. Thrash was the music we were waiting for after the hair band fiasco of the early 80's.
It's interesting to see younger people discover and appreciate music I have known for so long.
I'm a little younger, and in Texas...but I knew way back when. Thumbs up!
Your faces...
I just love how you liked the song and then boom, lyrics appeared. Raising awareness is what we do. ;)
Thy art is murder - holy war, I think you two would have fun with the lyrics
Hi. Vin And Sori. What album is called South of Heaven by Slayer album came out 1988.
They saw the Silent Screams videos before they wrote this song and it affected them very strongly is how the story goes.
My favorite slayer song
Vin and Sori:
if you aren't aware , Tom Araya ( vocals ) is a practicing catholic....he was * raised* as such
im sure you see the influence. :)
So now you are in shock!
I loved your faces. I thought for a sec that Sori was about to cry.
What were you expecting? It's Slayer! LOL
It was so hilarious. LONG LIVE SLAYER!
CLUTCH - Mob Goes Wild or Spacegrass. Fear Factory - Securitron(Police State 2000) Great discussion
+
Did you get us a subscriber? Vin must like fear factory cause I found an old cd of theirs in the basement while cleaning! ✌🏻
Sweet they are awesome, ive cleaned kitchens listening to them and ive never cleaned so quick. Clutch are athe best hard blues groove rock band on the planet. If you mean am i subscribed then yes, i hit it during your LOG 11th Hour vid which was great btw
Awesome clutch is on the list for sure !
At 2:15 it hits them what the song is about. I love the reaction. Some of the lyrics are more poetic than on topic, but they get the point through very well.
Y'alls reaction about 2:25. Lol had me dead
Vin and Sori, I'm a newbie to your videos, but I love your appreciation to this video. As much as I am a lover of Metallica, I love this band even more. South of Heaven was a breakthru album for me when it comes to Slayer. I was still a teenager when this came out but this album was their best because it was different from their first couple albums. If you get a chance please review Testament, especially Practice what you Preach album
And I am an atheist but I appreciate other views. In my opinion we should be a pluralistic religious society and not specific to Christianity. No offense intended but that may offend some, but too bad.
This is one of my favorite Slayer songs. I love the anti-abortion message the lyrics send too.
Hit the nail on the head!!! Good job guys. Earned a subscriber.
Brilliant assessment
As I was 15 when this came out i couldn’t grasp the meaning at all. Of course being a 45 year old dad now it’s obvious. But think about Tom stays in his 20’s. Having such an articulated intelligent way of expressing his contempt
Slayer gets a bad rep for their imagery and satanic references which slayer has said in interviews was just to fuck with people.
Please react to Metallica fade to black
I was 14 in 1988, and I had the same reaction as you two. The lyrics are brutal. I went to my mother, asking her about these lyrics, she helped me out.
fleshofdanny oh shit I wonder how she reacted to the lyrics
They're also talking about the mental health of the mother
They said that many times.
You mean murderer...
I usually don't watch reactions. But your analysis is clever, wise and smart
I'd love to hear the discussion on Angel of Death by Slayer for sure.
It's about a Nazi who was nicknamed " angel of death" , who performed experiments
This was a great reaction. Slayer definitely challenges the casual listener. Give them a listen and most will find the brilliance in their lyrical storytelling, as dark and evil as it may be. Or, you just rock your brains out and have your face melted by hot ass solos. Well done. Great job.
Love the reaction. I hope that you guys get to do lateralus by tool. It is an amazing song musically and lyrically.
We’ve GOT to do a tool
Series soon. It’s a must!
I have seen tool live twice and it was amazing and had a positive impact on me that changed me forever.
ripper madness YES! One of the most amazing songs musically lyrically and mathematically!
Never really thought about the lyrics to that song until now. Cheers!
It was Dave Mustain from Megadeth who became Christian. Tom Arya was born and still identifies Catholic. Kerry King is a main lyric writer as well. Most of their lyrics are more social commentary than anything else ( all be it they talk about the darker aspects of humanity) .Some of Kerry's lyrics get anti Christian (without being pro Satan if you know what I mean).
Good intell!
Jamie Perdue Jeff Hannemen was the primary song and lyric writer
Bob Glenn Jeff shared song writing with Kerry and Tom. Jeff did write there best songs.
more likely the song is a rehash of a book they read that depicted child sacrifice in ancient times.

Awesome reaction guys! 👍👍🤘🤘🤘🙏
REMEMBER
SLAYER'S CROWD ARE DISCIPLES NOT JUST..........."FANS"
;)
Bow your heads. Again. Now again. Now again. Now again.

YOU THINK THIS IS STRYPER!?!
This was great, you guys are great!
Metallica , Creeping Death
YASSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
The look on both ur faces is truly priceless 😄
kerry king didnt do the wholle solo. Jeffs guitar solos are panned to left speakers ang kerry kings to the right speakers. Jeffs has always had better solos
one of the most influential bands in metal, to this day they have remained to shock people in their own words and music. Tom Araya is an amazing guy too as well as a great vocalist, and Kerry King has remained one of my all time favourite guitarists too. One of the bands which got me into metal. I never looked back.
No one did this yet?............ SSSSSSLLLAAYYYERRRRRR
