      Although I sort of agree with your concept, I would have to say: no.
      While Mr Mustaine is a better musician and composer, the true founders of Metallica are James and Lars, the band has always gone in whatever direction they wanted.
      Both bands are unique though.
      Metallica really lost something though, when Burton was gone.
      And I love Ellefson’s bass as well, very apparent on Megadeth songs.

      Yes sir the 80's the end of an era when you had to have some sort of musical talent to be a successful and popular musician. Now all you need is a computer and few vocal samples you can annoyingly repeat over and over and over until your iq physically drops. Don't have to learn any instrument, don't need to write any lyrics, don't need to personally have rhythm or be able to differentiate pitch, hell you don't even need to be able to sing or remotely carry a tune and somehow people think they're musicians or artists. It's just sad. Music was special because it required natural talent along with dedication to learning an instrument and or countless hours of vocal training and practice. Bands had to be able to synchronize together to form something beautiful. You had to be poetic enough to capture your listeners. Now you just need electric robot sounds and a digitally altered phrase repeated indefinitely. Whatever I'm just too old (39) and actually enjoy being impressed with talent.

And *all* his solos were re-written by Kirk (they were super fast before, yeah, but Kirk came up with something that, while not as technical, was a lot more musical to be honest). I'm talking about a rhytmic pattern under the verse of Sandman which are palm muted 8-notes on E string with an accent on F5 on the first note of the measure and in case of Peace Sells you have the same palm muted E as a pedal note and changing power chords (G#5,G5,G#5) at the end of each measure, but to untrained ears it may sound pretty similar. Of course the endings of these riffs are quite different and accents are technically in different places in a measure, but I've heard many people saying they find it similar somehow.

Vin is good at that. Metal are mostly love it or hate it for so many reasons. But be true about it ,for if you like one song and dislike a similar song later you will in a way lose credibility. Dont fear the viewers and their reactions cuz we know you are new to metal so you are allowed to say that was too much noise, crap, good, loved it and so on. We metalheads have found our metal, now we kinda want to see you find yours. Keep em videos coming!!

  • @Zombinatrix

    He wasn't mean to dogs!!!!! He got into a fight with the guys because he (Mustaine) said, "He (Hetfield) kicked my dog. I was selling pot. When I would go play in concert, people knew that my pot was sitting in my apartment just saying, 'Go ahead and keep me company.' So I was broken in on. People stole everything that I had; all my stash. And I figured, screw this. I'm gonna get some dogs to stay in the apartment when I leave.
    So I got two dogs and I took one of them up to a rehearsal one time and she put her paws up on Ron's (bassist MCGovney) car. And James kicked it right in the side. I was like, 'What did you do? It's a dog, it's what they do. You don't kick animals.'" And then Mustaine beat the shit out of Hetfield and Ron, as he should have. They kicked him out after that.

    Enter Sandman was released several years later, but the riff is quite different. during the years the world of heavy metal went busy (mid 80s to early 90s), you can find lots of riffs having a similar vibe. that galopping style got pretty standard and it's really hard to tell who's done it first.
    btw, nice pick for a reaction vid, again. if at any time you like to do Meshuggah again, please do Clockworks. :)

  • @RussellBrant_Live
    @RussellBrant_Live 3 года назад +1

    They didn't just steal riffs. It was originally Dave's idea to include the prayer they used in Enter Sandman. They also had ripped off an entire song. Dave Mustaine wrote the entire guitar parts James used for Metallica's Four Horsemen, and in retaliation Megadeth released Mechanix which is the same riffs just faster than Metallica played it.
    You should do a reaction/comparison video of the two songs.

    I believe the 'mean to dogs' story is when Mustaine was in Metallica. He took one of his dogs to rehearsal and it was being playful, jumping up on people and James Hetfield kicked it in the chest. Which understandably pissed Dave off and he ended up punching Hetfield out. It's in his book like that anyway.

    A Megadeath is a unit of measurement used by a general that I don’t remember his name but it inspired Dave on his way back to California after being fired by Metallica to write the song ‘Set The World Afire’ on the back of this pamphlet. Anyway it’s a term meaning the death of 100,000 people by nuclear war fare. Also Peace Sells... But Who’s Buying” And “Rust In Peace” we’re titles inspired by bumper stickers.

    Great channel first of all. Now you are looking at the lyrics from a total different aspect than what they were. I was 16 when this song came out, the PMRC was at war with music and mainly metal. The government, churches and anybody with any type of authority was trying to ban METAL. We were told you are all satanist, never going to amount to anything and were going to spend your life in jail or dead. This song came out against the PMRC and the lyrics were aimed at everything they were fighting. What the PMRC tried to do totally backfired on them and made metal even more popular. I saw it all first hand. The Censorship and the Warning labels that are on the cd's and records are because of them. I hope you look at the lyrics from this point of view.

    • @0okamino
      @0okamino 6 лет назад

      Indeed! The song maintains many levels of relevance today, but that is an important point you brought up. Of course, that fight would ultimately be about more than just metal or rap, which is why even a mellow, relatively wholesome guy like John Denver was out there speaking his mind and standing up against the PMRC's art "morality" policing agenda. Anyone with so much as an iota of good sense could tell how insidiously that agenda might effect their own artistic expressions.

    This is a social commentary on a childish perspective. Dave Mustaine was speaking in the perspective of a person who pushes for "peace" when the truth is, peace is not reality. Saying that countries are buying weapons from America for "peace." It's also a commentary on American global politics, where we can say America wants to bring peace, but countries who only know war can not be sold peace, they can however be sold "peace keepers."
    It annoys you because it was meant to be sold to kids who think the song is written in their favor, when the song is really a display of childish opinions on Global policy. The last line "No peace sells" is a give-away of Dave's meaning or opinion, the chorus is Dave's response to the childish ramblings in the verse. The Verse is a reflection of people who claim to have all the answers but they tend to be disconnected with the reality of global politics. The way the Verse was split was a shitty composition mistake because the last line of the second verse really brings the perspective in view, people who claim that they could be president, and somehow think that the job supports "peace."
    The whole album is a commentary on Global Wars, even the bands name Megadeth is a commentary on Nuclear War. The whole life of the band could be seen as an anti-war message, simply by displaying perspectives of evil.

      Yeah, who knew... www.antiwarsongs.org/ ... Seems as if a great many people can decipher the meanings of these songs to mean "anti-war."
      You must be for War then? Obviously, since you are not a humanist or enjoy peace.
      The logical conclusion is that only "humanist anti-war propagandist hippies" protest against war. Only hippies think that war is shit... duh.
      Clown boy over here... so that Black Sabbath song "War Pigs" was somehow not about the atrocities of War? Somehow, "Satan laughing spreads his wings" wasn't to call out people who claim Christianity, yet feed Satan through supporting war.
      Then you bring in Slayer? What does Slayer have to do with this song? Perhaps you need the song "Jihad" by Slayer in order to understand how perspective is used to point out the atrocities of war, those fucking hippies.

    Dave Mustaine was a very angry young man. He abused abused alcohol, drugs and was dealing drugs at one point. He lashed out at others when he drank and was a general terror. He was angry at society, God, religion, the world, his parents (he was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness), himself and finally at the guys in MetallicA for kicking him out of the band. He went into rehab several times, starting in the late 80s, and became a Born Again Christian. He frequently writes about his internal turmoil and struggles. You should listen to the Megadeth song Addicted to Chaos. It’s about his grief over the death of this AA sponsor to a relapse and drug overdose.

    Dave Mustaine was never mean to dogs, he was a pot dealer at the time that he was in Metallica and kept two guard dogs around to watch his stuff. When they were all hanging around outside Dave's place, one of the dogs put her paws up on the side of James Hetfield's car and James kicked the dog in the side. Dave got pretty pissed about the fact that James was hurting his dog and decided to throw hands with James and the former bassist Ron McGovney once they were inside.
