Caution on buying this I went through 2 already. Your contacts got to be polished perfectly then still might not work after game is taken out and back in. Customer service is super on their part but sending my second one back today. Looked awesome when I got it to work. For 450.00 it should work all the time not 10 min putting game in and out to get it to work. I had high hopes for this system.
I had similar issues, although nothing so bad that I wanted to send it back. Luckily with the new jailbreak firmware, it runs ROMs directly off an SD card.
ionmyke Ya I seen that but for the price I expect a flawless product, My old NES has no problems playing the games but this new system does? Not worth it.
I actually took the step of opening mine up and soldering on a new cartridge connector. Haven't had any problems since...not for the feint of heart, though.
I own the Mini Nt as well as the AVS, and IMO they aren't even close to in the same league, but I guess it depends on what you want to get out of it. The Nt Mini's RGB output in addition to HDMI was a huge selling point for me, as a PVM owner. With Kevtris's jailbreak firmware, it now runs ROMs directly off an SD card, with better compatibility than an EverDrive. On top of that, it also supports Sega SG-1000, Master System, Game Gear, and Colecovision ROMs, with many more 8-bit consoles to come. The price is starting to look pretty reasonable, zero buyer's regret here.
The AVS has compatibility problems with all green stripe carts, xexyz, gradius 2, everdrive n8, more games. doesn't work with the microphone, has no analog video output. Updates have been sparse. I had one for 4 months and honestly can't recommend it.
Next batch of AVS consoles come with an improved slot, so no more green tripe cart issues and Gradius 2 was fixed with latest firmware. Microphone support is not really that imporant and while analog output would have been a nice bonus you could just buy an NES for your analog needs. AVS is less than half the price of the Analogue NT Mini, so its worth reviewing.
There is an ultimate cheat for Zanac that ONLY works with the original toaster NES. It is complicated, but trust me it works. 1) Insert the cart and turn on the system 2) Once you see the title screen here is what you need to do. Press down on the cart and let it rise very slowly to the point where it breaks the connection circuit and the title screen music freezes. Once you here that the music has frozen push the cart back down into the locked position and press reset. Now, look at the high score on the title screen. If the high score looks like a bunch of jibberish, then you have performed the ultimate trick for this game. If the high score does NOT look like a bunch of jibberish then keep trying until you get it. 3) Once you see the jibberish start a game then pause it. By pressing select while the game is paused you will see your score changing. The first number(s) represent the special weapon for your ship. Just keep playing with it until you find the one you like. 4) Here is the weird part of the trick. Plug the Zapper into port 2. With the Zapper connected, pause and unpause the game and you will immediately be warped to the next stage. Unplug the zapper if you want to remain on that stage. You can plug and unplug the zapper at will. I've known this trick since I was a kid. Due to its oddity, it has stuck with me. Again, it just takes practice to get this trick to work, but trust me it does.
Personally I think the Retrobit AVS is just as good and a good half the cost. Decent update and support too. Though a few of my repro carts don't yet work in it.
I had an AVS and sold it. The compatibility was poorer than expected, updates are very sparse, even the maker of the everdrive doesn't support it at all, stating it does not work like a real NES
Kevtris has not made any core for 16 bit consoles, but he has a number of 8 bit consoles done. Including the Game Gear, Sega Master System, and the Coleco
i watched a video he did on the sega cdx, and he played TRUXTON 10/10 on it, and then i decided to take a look at this 10/10 game and yes i can confirm it is infact 10/10, i now play it every morning for 6 hours
I almost bought one but then i found out about the avs. With the money i saved i bought a bunch of famicom games off ebay. love me some akumajo densetsu. The analogue looks great tho.
Yeah 450 bucks is too rich for my blood. Especially when the Retro AVS can do the same thing for less money. Even getting a new based model PS4 is like 250.
Lone432345 The AVS can't do a fraction of what the Analogue NT Mini can do. It's good, but honestly with the amount of other systems (around 20) it supports / will support AND true Analogue video out (light guns! CRT display!) and ROM loading which works better than the best available flashcarts I'd seriously revise that opinion.
I actually do have both the AVS and Hi-Def modded NES. Both awesome in there own ways. But the Analogue has a few more features the others don't have. Changeable pallettes, more scaling options, analogue outputs, and also can be turned into a Mastersystem or Colecovision.
Well yeah because the Analogue NT has both the NESRGB and Hi-Def mods installed. And Yeah that's true about the Mini in particular, that it can be unlocked and changed into another console because it uses an FPGA unlike the original Analogue NT.
Does it output the additional sound channel that the Disk System uses? What about other cartridge chip compatibility? (Japanese Castlevania 3, for example).
You can also get the Retron 1 which plays all NES games for $20 and for $60 you can get the Retron 3 which plays all NES, SNES, and Genesis games and is compatible with all controllers.
how about a review on which is the best Batman game on all platforms from the original 90's Batman movies. my favorites are Batman Forever for the Sega Mega Drive and Batman Returns for the SNES.
Wouldn’t it be nice if they still made it though? I’m sure not dropping a grand to get one on eBay. Of all their products, this about the only one I want to put money in.
the main selling point of this thing was that it used original hardware, but now its just a really expensive counterpart to the retro usb avs, with barely any features to beat the avs.
timespacedub you load the games from the sd card. Also other 8and 4 bit systems. Also a copy NES to rip your own games and saves. It was the creator that released the custom firmware.
Mojo I pre ordered mine because I thought something like this would happen. Apparently they are not making any more. a few of the youtubers were saying. if that's true, you better start saving as when word gets out, they will skyrocket in price. especially now that you can hack them and put the full nes games library on them. 😀 👍
I don't want one to hack it. I want one to sit on a shelve and look nice. I didn't want to play Nintendos game and pre order one. I doubt they'll completely stop making these because that would be leaving money on the table. Nintendo get no benefits from letting price skyrocketing on the used market and leaving customers unsatisfied.
More than a PS4 or Xbox One. Looks amazing but I love my Retron 5. I also love emulation so not a problem. 😁👍 Oh and it can play Truxton and M.U.S.H.A. I have a real copy of Truxton which plays and a fake copy of M.U.S.H.A. which plays.
RiSe/L2 ReconZ I mean you could always just mod one of them for HDMI, or get a scaler, though making Nes games not look like crap on a HDTV isn't exactly cheap.
Are you paying for these consoles or are you being given copies to review for free? Just curious, that's kind of important information, especially when downplaying (by not specifically mentioning) the $449 price tag.
+CaptainLumpyDog anyone looking to buy one might care, for starters. If you give something a positive review and are recommending that item, it's only ethically responsible to disclose that info. A review of a product where there is a recommendation to buy it is much more credible if he paid the 450-500 for it and is satisfied with the purchase, than if he was given the 450-500 product as a gift, which could add an inherent amount of bias. Weird that my question bothered you enough to comment and then come back 15 hours later to ask "who cares".
BlazeFalcon The AVS is a hardware clone not emulation, so you needn't worry about incompatibility with any of the NES/Famicom library (barring zapper games) the only trade off is that it's HDMI only but that can be bypassed via a converter to standard media outputs like composite and s-video
I love you Lord Karnage and will listen to anything you say, but this seemed more like a promo than a review. You didn't really seem to get into the actual product and capabilities.
Seriously, this was a piss poor effort at a review. I actually got better info on this console from the first 5 comments than I did from the entire review. You guys can do better... cmon man.
Wow... now that was a bad review. Almost nothing at all said about the system itself, and about half of it was advertising and credits. Didn't even mention the recent cores that play other systems. Pitiful.
Meh, I'll just stick to a real NES. Way cheaper. And I don't really see the point of playing physical in the first place if you don't use the original hardware. May as well use emulators at that point.
awesome as always. its just great to see new videos from u mann. The DSLR quality is top notch.
*"It does lack blast processing."*
I died.

rewtuser I know they are getting hit hard with returns, The emails they sent me, you can tell they are pissed.
rewtuser for $449 it's completely absurd that you had to do any work on it after purchase.
Was reading about this recently. I wish someone would so a pc engine/turbografx 16 system like this.
Analogue Duo is coming 2021
@@baldchinchilla didn’t happen bro 😎

It has happened.
Why does Mark's smooth voice and delivery do things to my genitals that my wife can't?

You should review the Retro AVS as well, as it seems like a cheaper alternative to this.

AVS is less than half the price of the Analogue NT Mini, so its worth reviewing.
Again, it has literally no issue at all with the Everdrive. Please stop spreading this misinformation.
Maybe the old one. Bought one last year, works flawlessly with my NES N8 and FC N8. Hell my old Retro Trio plays them fine. For $25 cant beat that.
The NT Mini also can output Component Video.
That funk track is so damn fly.

You should look into the retro usb AVS
Personally I think the Retrobit AVS is just as good and a good half the cost. Decent update and support too. Though a few of my repro carts don't yet work in it.
No analog outputs, third time.
Dont you sell your products to Brazil??
Since this device is ATLEAST line doubling with the HDMI output, it would be nice if they put a built-in scanline generator.
God I've always loved the Zanac music.
Zanac was the best !!
Got the new nt mini noir 😎
"Lacks blast processing", you lost me there.
lost you? I'm sure it was a joke. lol
Quiet you, we need to go back to the days of fun, the 90's! It was a simpler time...
lol
a joke?! who on earth would "joke" about blast processing?
I think Goku was also joking.
I wish the console played some of that sweet disco when you turned it on!
RetroUSB AVS is another great FPGA based Nintendo clone and at less than half the price.
charvelgtrs Yup. better choice with the price difference. love mine. did he even review it?
Nope, you gotta blow Mark to get a review in.
I had an AVS and sold it. The compatibility was poorer than expected, updates are very sparse, even the maker of the everdrive doesn't support it at all, stating it does not work like a real NES
Doesn't have analog outputs.
What compatibility issues does the AVS have?
The universe can't handle the power of Vectrex covered in wood grain.
Can't play Truxton.
0/10 Would not buy.
Not cool. Cant start my day without Truxton.
It can actually lol
You just have to download a custom firmware and Megadrive core for the FPGA inside.
Kevtris has not made any core for 16 bit consoles, but he has a number of 8 bit consoles done.
Including the Game Gear, Sega Master System, and the Coleco
Retro goodness
i watched a video he did on the sega cdx, and he played TRUXTON 10/10 on it, and then i decided to take a look at this 10/10 game and yes i can confirm it is infact 10/10, i now play it every morning for 6 hours

I just might get one of these sometime down the road.
I hope you didn’t wait. Too late now.
The Return of the Gamecom! Ahahah that was hilarious.
time travel < Blast Processing
Getting the new version 😎
Instead of a Gold plated version, how about a plastic shell version (NES Gray Colored) to bring down the price a bit.
Just get an AVS from retroUSB ;)
AVS doesn't have analog outputs, second time.
AVS was made for HD in mind only. Get the Hi-Def mod for an NES then, it's cheaper than buying the analogue NT
I actually do have both the AVS and Hi-Def modded NES. Both awesome in there own ways. But the Analogue has a few more features the others don't have. Changeable pallettes, more scaling options, analogue outputs, and also can be turned into a Mastersystem or Colecovision.

I kinda wonder why the guys behind this system haven't made a 16 bit equivalent, maybe one that plays both SNES & Genesis cartridges.
Can it play famicom games that use the additional sound channel such as the Japanese Castlevania III?
What's the difference between the nt mini and retro usb's Avs?
Does it output the additional sound channel that the Disk System uses? What about other cartridge chip compatibility? (Japanese Castlevania 3, for example).
Mario Morales yes, yes and yes.
How about an Analogue SNES?
retro gaming forever
do they have one of these that plays SNES and Super Famicom games???? that is what I really want!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avs or old retron 2 and a multi SD cart is what you need
rarecoolitems Analogue NT mini has built in flashcart functionality. For this alone it's better value than an AVS.
bumtree Looks good
You can also get the Retron 1 which plays all NES games for $20 and for $60 you can get the Retron 3 which plays all NES, SNES, and Genesis games and is compatible with all controllers.
Scooter Ahlers The Retron 1 does not play all games, it can't play Castlevania 3 for example. Also the sound emulation isn't great.
Can someone tell me the name of the tank game? Thanks in advance.
how about a review on which is the best Batman game on all platforms from the original 90's Batman movies. my favorites are Batman Forever for the Sega Mega Drive and Batman Returns for the SNES.
Can you use the Zapper on CRT TV's?
Ya
what game was that with the army tank?
Oh man, an Analogue SMS/FM Sound/Sega CD 32X all-in-one would be killer tits and I would pay a hefty sum.
J.D. Whited Or how about that and Saturn w/ Action Replay II + MPEG card and Dreamcast support?
How'd you get the Analogue to run on a CRT display? Doesn't it only output HDMI?
The Nt Mini allows for digital or analog output. Composite, Svideo, and rgb all work
Analogue should just have one HDMI output, should include the SNES cartridges in the Analogue console, and I am for it.
i agree- analogue really should give us a new vectrex
It looks nice and all... But the real question is, "Does Viral Dog like it?"
Wouldn’t it be nice if they still made it though? I’m sure not dropping a grand to get one on eBay. Of all their products, this about the only one I want to put money in.
what game? 4:38
the main selling point of this thing was that it used original hardware, but now its just a really expensive counterpart to the retro usb avs, with barely any features to beat the avs.
Mark could you do a review of the AVS NES as I want to hear your thoughts on it
I hope they do an Analogue NT MINI for the Sega Master System (and the Genesis too, and the 32X, and the Sega CD).
Which is beter, the analog NT or the retron 2?
Analogue. Hyperkin products are never awesome.
Cool, but can it play Truxton.
if you use the hack firmware you can play different systems like SMS and others...
tinostarks how? It has famicom/nes cartridge slots
timespacedub you load the games from the sd card. Also other 8and 4 bit systems. Also a copy NES to rip your own games and saves. It was the creator that released the custom firmware.
Also he is making cartridge slot adaptors.
It's also going to support the Sega Light Phaser games with the Nintendo Zapper..
Iron Tank is awesome!
I'll just stick with my Fami-com and Nes :3
for that sort of money I'd be wanting something to play mushu.
I'll stick with my modded nintendo nes mini classic with 700 games thanks. 😀
I want a classic mini as well. Can't find it anywhere though.
Mojo I pre ordered mine because I thought something like this would happen. Apparently they are not making any more. a few of the youtubers were saying.

Man you need to change your Credits ! LOL
It'd be nice if they did a SEGA version that could play Master System, Genesis, 32x, and CD.
Close
is there a Genesis version?
There is now
are there any hdmi capable snes clones?
Yes
More than a PS4 or Xbox One. Looks amazing but I love my Retron 5. I also love emulation so not a problem. 😁👍 Oh and it can play Truxton and M.U.S.H.A. I have a real copy of Truxton which plays and a fake copy of M.U.S.H.A. which plays.
A Retron 5 is garbage if your TV doesn’t have a game mode. Mine doesn’t. Makes it unplayable.
Will this work in Europe?
RiSe/L2 ReconZ It should as it is region free.
I have an nes and an av famicom atm. Not sure to upgrade as this things price is just huge
RiSe/L2 ReconZ I mean you could always just mod one of them for HDMI, or get a scaler, though making Nes games not look like crap on a HDTV isn't exactly cheap.
No one:
Old mark: it doesn’t play truxton
Are you paying for these consoles or are you being given copies to review for free? Just curious, that's kind of important information, especially when downplaying (by not specifically mentioning) the $449 price tag.
Torgo Gorgo Mark is a successful film producer. I'm sure he purchased it.
Torgo Gorgo the full size one he had to return.
Torgo Gorgo Quick question: WHO CARES???
+CaptainLumpyDog anyone looking to buy one might care, for starters. If you give something a positive review and are recommending that item, it's only ethically responsible to disclose that info. Weird that my question bothered you enough to comment and then come back 15 hours later to ask "who cares".
will it work with PAL games ? :)
Old comment, I know, but yes. It has support for 50Hz PAL and lacks the 10NES lock out Chip.
heh heh. great tunes Mark.
DOLOMITE EXPLOSION!!!
"No emulation here"
closes video
If they made a SNES one I’d buy
UttR Concrete Looks like your wish was granted. Look up the Super NT.
wassup guys
also has a jailbroken firmware :-)
can it play sd rom carts?
Can you watch a video before asking a question?
No blast processing, no purchase.
Ugh. I want one so bad...
Analogue should make the ps1 pro. If they made it would be a million times better than the ps4 pro so I can actually have 3d platformers to play.
A TURBO VOLCANO!!!!
But does it work with the zapper??
Well ofcourse it cannot play truxton because genesis does what nintendon't, haha.
Looks awesome just wish it was not so expensive. Would rather stick with my retropie.
you can look for the Retro Avs as an alternative. Like the NT it's an FPGA NES Clone but costs "only" half
BlazeFalcon The AVS is a hardware clone not emulation, so you needn't worry about incompatibility with any of the NES/Famicom library (barring zapper games) the only trade off is that it's HDMI only but that can be bypassed via a converter to standard media outputs like composite and s-video
This video and I have the same birthday

tell them to make one that is master system/Genesis
They heard you.
this one doesn't speak german???
I love you Lord Karnage and will listen to anything you say, but this seemed more like a promo than a review. You didn't really seem to get into the actual product and capabilities.
Well I learned nothing about the machine in that video. Just by saying something is ‘awesome’ doesn’t make it a thorough review.
Zanac provides me with better bang for the buck then this system does lol. This thing costs way too much just to play NES games.
That’s why it plays Famicom games.
Not for me for $700. I'm buying an original system at my local retro game store.
Not sure where you got that price, the silver model goes for $450.
