Thank you so much! I'm 49 with terrible oily skin and occasional acne.I have had SUCH A HARD TIME figuring out moisturizing at night without causing an avalanche of problems. You explain everything so well. I have tried going to dermatologists and all they do is make you buy their $90 a bottle skin care line "that the whole office is on and loves". I am running to Target tonight to get the items you listed here. Watching the AM video next! Love you so much! xoxo

This is awesome. I admit I have a weakness at the Neiman/saks/Nordstrom makeup counters for skincare spending tons of money, and lots of my female physician friends swear by some of these expensive products. Now I know everything I need is at Walmart or amazon. Thanks Dr Dray!

Moisture retention has balanced out my oily skin so much! I use the Lightweight Lotion from Cerave in the morning and the Aveeno Skin Relief Cream in the tub at night on damp skin and my skin isn't super shiny anymore. I use to apply those to a completely dry face and my skin would shine bright within the hour.

I just picked up the Hada Labo cleansing oil - WOW! I was using coconut oil to remove my mascara and makeup - but it’s so greasy I had to wash my face at least twice to get all the oil off. I’m looking forward to trying other Hada Labo products as I run out of the things I’m using. Thanks so much for all the great tips and information.
BTW, Avon now has a hyaluronic acid serum and hyaluronic acid gel cream - their “Hydra Fusion” line.

You should do a video on your opinion of 10-step korean skincare. :) Also, do you think Lush skincare or It Cosmetic skincare products are worth it? They can both be pricey but It Cosmetics claims to be formulated by plastic surgeons and I think a video going through the ingredients and explaining them to us would be very interesting!

I really like the philiosophy purity made simple cleanser as an oil-based cleanser without actually using oil on my face...which yes I really loathe because of having oily skin and acne/milia. purity is creamy/lotiony in texture but does a great job breaking down makeup and sunscreen. Would love to see your review of philosophy products!

Thanks to you I bought the neutrogena hydroboost, the hydrating cleanser from cerave and the LRP shaka (although it arrived with parfum). But as I start using all this almost at the same time I broke up and like 3 new milia appear in my eyes. In my face I almost never had used moisturizer because I always brake up so my face is not used to all this products. Also I think it is better for me to use an oily skin routine. That's why I'm seeing this video to know what to change or luckily just add. I will stop using all the 3 things I bought and start using one by one to see what is causing the milia.

Thank you so much for your videos! I'm enjoying them so much! I've been in such a battle with my skin over the years, but hearing your tips, all my mistakes make sense now! I've been on differin for some time but I was not told by my dermatologist that it should NOT be used in conjunction with salicyc acid. The result was my skin burned like hell and I looked like a tomato. So I started hating differin for the wrong reasons, apparently. So I stop going to my dermatologist because of the same reason, I was not seeing results and it was expensive to keep it up. So my routine was to use heavy moisturizer which made my skin oily and full of acne. Then I started using scrubbing products to get rid of oil, thinking the more I scrub, the more the oil would go away. And guess what, I was getting more oil! I would watch some videos and nothing I saw worked until I found you! Finally someone who knows what she is talking about and not giving instructions based sole their opinion, no scientific evidence behind. This week, I've started practicing some of your basic routines and I noticed the difference! My skin is brighter and smoother, no blemishes or evident acnes. OMG, I wish I had found you before all the mess I did to my skin! Now I'm just buying everything you are showing on your videos, so you should get some credits for that! ☺️ Thank you for saving so many skins around the world, you should be very proud or yourself. I've also tried to find the dermatology office to become your patient, but I'm on the west side of H-town, so I think you are a little far from me. But If you happen to open to be in this side, please post and I will certainly come see you! (Not a stocker, just a super thankful "future" patient). 😃 Love your sunscreen &I subscribe (done and done)

You really are a valuable resource of help and information in a sea of misleading cosmetics. Thank you Dr. Dray.
I didn't know that salicylic acid cleansers should not be paired with Tretinoin, so now I'm glad that my skincare worked out luckily, because when I started using a salicylic acid containing cleanser I didn't use Tretinoin, by complete chance! & when I was using Tretinoin I used clean & clear face wash beforehand, so this has been a relief & shock in one.

I had gone to a doctor here, he told me my rough, bumpy, sandpapery skin was just over exfoliated due to my 2% sa am and 0.025% tretinoin pm. he asked me to use a good moisturizer and lay off both sa and tretinoin for a week and then use only the tretinoin with a very gentle face wash. thank you so much for patiently hearing me out as I crib about my skin!! hope you had a lovely long weekend..

Angela Chang - hello, yes I have some acne and clogged pores. I'm no doctor, but from my experience (on a retinoid since 1 year) I can tell you that a purge is common for upto 2 months if you use any retinoid.. and if the sa wash is not over-drying or irritating your skin, there's no reason to stop using it. hope this helps, have a good day!

In all honesty, I like how it smells, but I didn't see an improvement until I started my prescription retinoid cream. LOL Now I'm just using it because it was $80 and I'm trying to finish it, but I keep thinking of the yeast!!! Thanks for keeping us informed doc !!! Dear god, a script of tretinoin costs $80 in the US? I just got pissed my insurance denied it cause my PCP tried to prescribe it after years of me living abroad and getting it for $2 to $3 a tube. Thanks for the price, I will just cross the border to Mexico if I can’t move back abroad in the next year, that’s outrageous for a tube that costs hardly anything in Turkey and Vietnam! The US healthcare system is such bs. Wish pregnant women here could take it upon themselves to ask their freaking pharmacists what they can or can’t use, but between our sue-happy idiot culture and lack of universal healthcare, we are destined to pay way too much for crap that’s been around for years. I’m so disgusted and angry reading this. $80????? For an old medication? 🤢

Sometimes it feels like I can't load anything onto pimples, at the same time benzoyl peroxide dries the life out of my skin

Great video. Easy to follow your oily skin routines. I am oily and I appreciate your suggestions; I understand that oily skin is “cheaper” to assist compared to dry skin (personal opinion) and it’s a bless to have it. Do you have advice for approaching these products (particularly the cleanser, mask, and moisturiser) for someone with seb dermatitis? I haven't seen you cover seb derm on this channel, so I'm unsure if this a skin disease you're able to give advice on.
Otherwise thank you for the clarity of information in your videos! They are really helpful for someone new to skin care like myself!

I would like to do a seb derm video in the future for sure. I am VERY familiar with this skin disease, so i think a video would be helpful in the future. I would hold off on oils, as the yeast I mention here is the culprit in seborrheic dermatitis.

What are your thoughts on dimethicones? I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews, including that it traps everything under it-including bacteria, sebum, and impurities-which could lead to increased breakouts and blackheads. Also, that the coating action prevents the skin from performing its normal activities-like sweating, temperature regulating, sloughing off dead skin cells, etc.
I don't use them in my hair and I've noticed an increase in moisture retention.
Love your channel :) Thanks for all the help!

Hey Dr. Dray! I have a question. Until watching this video, I didn't realize that salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide could not be used together. I don't use them together in cleanser form, however, I use the panoxyl cleanser several times a week (for my acne and oily skin) and have recently started using Neutrogenas SkinClearing line (foundation & powder) , which has salicylic acid in it. Do I need to stop using these together? What do you suggest? Thanks! I love watching your videos! So informative and helpful.

This is a bit off topic, but I was wondering about your opinion on retinoids and other products that increase cell turnover and their relation to telomere length. Do they shorten telomere length, thus being bad to use long term? I haven't seen this addressed anywhere else on youtube and thought you might be a good source for reliable info on this subject.
    Loving your videos, Dr. Dray!

Hi Dr. Dray, I know you used the Pore Cleanser/Mask for oil control, but how will it work for skin that is dry-ish/combination and acne prone? I love a good skincare mask but I am purging my cabinet of unnecessary cosmeceuticals and need good replacements that have researched benefits and help with the treatment of mild acne. Hoping this mask could be a hidden drugstore gem I've missed.
Also, I would love your take on a skincare routine for acne prone BUT dry skin and also your thoughts on the brand Paula's Choice as they are big on leave-on BHA/AHA products. Thank you so much for the wealth of knowledge that you are putting out in the world. The simplicity of your skincare, and your lifestyle are a breath of fresh air. :))

Hi Andrea! I must say! I love the content you bring in your videos. RUclips needs to be more educated on skin💗 You mentioned coconut oil and olive oil in the beginning of your video, but what about using Argan oil or Jojoba oil on the face? I've heard that both those oils are supposedly non comedogenic and are alright to use on the skin, but those sources weren't scholary. I've had friends rave about natural oils. Have you had clients mention them before?

Hi Dr. Dray. Thank you for everything you do for the internet community. You're amazing. I started using the Neutrogena BP face wash/mask and have been using it as a mask everyday. It seems to help my overall skin appearance but right after I wash it off, I get very sensitive, red, stingy, and blotchy marks around my nose and chin. Should I be concerned that this is contact dermatitis or something else to where I should discontinue use of this product or does that seem like a normal reaction?

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  6 лет назад +1

Benzoyl peroxide increases sensitivity and leads to redness and blotchiness, which is why using a moisturizer immediately after use is imperative

I'm using homemade Epiduo(0.1% adapalene and 2.5% benzoyl peroxide). Very effective. Beats antibiotics, tretinoin, and azelaic acid. Thank you so much for the tip. After trying out various approaches, I find this one to be the most effective.
