SORRY ABOUT THE MUSIC VOLUME! I edited this video entirely on my phone which has the bottom speakers broken, and without headphones (rookie mistake) so I couldn’t really tell the volume balance until watching it on another device later. Will try and be better about music volume in the future!!

Duuude, driven a previa myself and they’re great vans. The previa you have is a 5 speed manual and the one I have has a 4 speed automatic transmission and the previa from the 90’s also came in a supercharged version as well.
I’ve worked on mine so much where I knew everything about the previa and I felt so connected to it and it felt like a space ship.

I owned one for four years, but it was automatic, rear wheel drive, dual zone front/rear climate control.
These minivans are legendary. The AWD version was a little more problematic, but in all these can go upwards of a half million miles. They're also mechanical oddities. Under the hood is an engine oil reserve tank. To add engine oil, it goes in there, not directly into the engine. The system adds oil to the engine as needed. It has a flat inline 4 cylinder engine that's more sensitive than most to variations in the oil level - that's why. There are two access hatches for the engine. The driver seat flips back, pull back the carpet underneath and turn a handle, a hatch opens to reveal the throttle body and dipsticks. The passenger - front under the passenger seat (removed by bolts) has a larger hatch to access the valve cover and exhaust.
These minivans all came the same length, there was no extended version, but they're big enough to swallow a 12 foot long roll of carpet - and the hatch will close. The body build quality was phenomenal, however, the cab-over design means 3 star frontal crash rating, so be mindful.
Previas had hands down the coolest options. There was the single or double sunroofs, the rear sunroof being huge. There were swivel captains chair seating, rear audio, etc. I've owned all the weirdest minivans including the TransSport and Lumina APV, but the Previa is a truly unique vehicle.
Toyota followed up with the Sienna, which is arguably the best minivan ever made. The redesign and launch was to address the frontal impact safety concerns

We had a GLT model and at that time it was luxurious as hell !! 4 turning independ seats, front fridge, double sunroof, folding bed !! It had seen so much adventure , miss it really, it was part of the family !!
Never broke down , it was incredebly reliable and fast for the time.
(I think you'll get a better result by trying with a heatgun on you bumpers)

Just seen a 1991 toyota previa for sale on Craigslist in Monroe , N.J. I totally forgot and have not seen one of these in 30 years . Wow they were futuristic looking even still to this day.

Great video! This is going to clean up really nice. It may be worth spraying the bumpers with some black trim paint. I've used back to black a ton, but it only seems to last a few washes.

My Previa has been with me for many years, it's a workhorse that I have put through some terrible times. My favorite van ever, your Previa has the same paint scheme and makes me want to rejuvenate mine . Thanks the video was great.😉

I've always coverted these Toyotas, I'd love one converted to EV with spaceship sounds to go with the futuristic styling. They are still one of the best vans Toyota or anyone else has built.

We had the tiny Toy Van before the Previa. It also had the mid engine. Sitting on the engine was weird but it handled like an MR2. Put black pentagon shaped stickers on it so it looks like a soccer ball LOL⚽🏐⚾⛳

There’s an oil reservoir under the front hood. As long as you keep that filled you pretty much never need to check the oil dipstick under the seat. At least that’s what I did with my 1991 Previa. Good luck! Many happy miles to come!
Just saw a nice all trac in the junkyard. It looked like it was impounded but ran before. It had 276,000 miles. All the ones i see have upwards to 400,000 miles. Congrats on your new previa, they are great vans. Watch out for the sad shaft bushings and valve cover leaks.

Many fond memories being picked up in the “egg” by a high school friend.. off with the gang to see a movie, bowling, baseball games… then when older it became the party and clubbing designated driver vehicle. Lots of good times in the Previa!

I am in shock there’s another egghead obsessed fan of Previas. I ALSO have a 5 speed Previa. Rwd model. I have owned it since 2014. I swapped out the tired 200k neglected motor for a pristine JDM engine and refreshed $2k worth of OEM parts! Obsessed? Yes. If you’re ever in Atlanta area, find me!

I had no idea they made these in manual until I saw one on marketplace a few days ago. The funny thing is the front seat area is so tiny if you're over 6ft tall. My friend had one as a kid and it was so cool and different. They never did sell a lot of these here in the US

@@AnnieKeller It is hard not to enjoy the Previa. So well made, great to drive, and fun to fix! If you ever get stuck, I have done many repairs on my 1991 Previa and have a good stock of hard-to-find parts. Always glad to help. For example, I just fixed my side-view mirrors which had been "flopping" up and down when I drive. Searched, but found no info on how to do this or any video, so figured it out, made some custom parts, and my Previa is even more fun to drive now (and safer too!). Thank you again for your video!

ahh provincetown, no wonder road looks familiar i miss the previa my dad had a 1993 awd model, i prefer the 1996 with supercharger and captain chairs but never seen a manual previa , anyway good luck on the project

Wow, I'm impressed. Previas are as rare as hens' teeth, especially with the 5spd! I've yet to drive one, but I did test drive it's predecessor, a 1987 Toyota Space Cruiser. (I regret not buying it). I also regret not buying the Nissan Vanette which appeared on my local FB Marketplace a few years ago. Nice to see somebody else with my strange taste in vehicles!

Mate of mine had one of these, theyre called a Toyota Tarago down under, theyre sooo common, now and then you will see them pop up on market place for a steal, especially the 5sp and they usually have 100s thousands of ks on the clock.

i had a 1993 toyota tarago 5 speed manual mateee roughly 8 months ago. She ran like a purr, the only issue was it was a ex painter, and he got drunk and rolled it all over the car and u got sick as when u step in and drive for a few minutes LOL but mate o mate it was reliable lil donkey only had it for a month or so and dipped out on it saying good bye for $1300 aud. it had 324,000kms
BY THE WAY SUGGESTION THE MUSIC IS OBNIXOUS and pretty much loud just 10% back of it-it.
If memory serves me, that thing's running a 22R4 motor rather creatively mounted, right? That thing was the unkillable engine of the 80's, anything made by Toyota with rear wheel drive used it, and it was considered unusual if you didn't get at least 300000 miles out of it..
