Food mechanic is why I stopped playing TW games. It made sense in Shogun, as in that period food production was more important than trade. It does not work in any other game
Sparta doesn't have a port to trade, Spartans: "excuse me wtf? we did have ports, so much for accuracy i guess" XD, i just bought the game, great tutorial.
This is really good... I own both ROME and SHOGUN and really wanted to play them but when i boot them up i always feel really overwhelmed by them this is really helpful gives some useful tips so thank you for that!
***** Thank you :) Just fired up Total War Rome II and put on your Attilla lets play great stuff :) We'll see what happens with Rome II i might pick up Attilla at somepoint. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I've had this game for a long time, but every time I picked it up, I never played for long because it all felt so overwhelming. This tutorial helped a lot. Thanks for posting :)
John Mothershead I've had it since release....... Could never get to grips with it, I've been playing rome 1 and empire, literally only started playing this this week

hey man, currently going through the tw series to see what the hype is about and this video was really well made(it's crazy to think 2015 was 8 years ago), thanks for the tips as they've helped me get into the game.
Would you consider doing a part two of this? I found it very informative and would like some more content, perhaps and intermediate edition. Thanks again for the great video!
Thanks for the amazing tutorial! Only now starting to play the game and it’s completely different to Rome 1 which put me off a bit but understanding a lot more things since watching your video
+Philip Palim Thanks man, I wanted to try and simplify it for new players and not overcomplicate things. Thanks for watching, glad you found it useful :)

Love playing older pc games. rise of nations, other rts, etc... this tutorial was waaaaay better than the games tutorial/ prologue. thanks for helping get into it bcuz I was having trouble in just the prologue and getting my leader killed by the semnites every time I tried. I basically got raped by them. rome beaten.. leader killed... EVERYTIME I TRIED, even on easy. hey I literally bought this game 2 hrs ago. :)
Hi Nick, thanks for the comment. I'm glad you found this video useful. I agree the in-game tutorials aren't usually up to scratch in these Total War games so I'm glad to make these vids to help people. Take care and enjoy yourself.
Finally! Thank you. This clears a lot of things up. I am getting a handle on the game but my biggest problem is beating opposing factions. Never seems to happen. Also prologue is impossible to finish. I have seen many complaints about this. Just watching you explain diplomacy reminded me of school yard antics only on a grand scale and with loss of life. We'll never learn.
Wow, this was awesome man, definitely the best guide out there. Easy to follow, and in-depth without over-confusing. You got a new sub bro! Oh, and I'm from Wales too ;D
+Ali Thanks man, I really appreciate it and thank you so much for subscribing :D. I got a Wales Campaign on my channel that I have been doing, seeing as you are also from Wales :D

@@hannibalburgers477 I still only have 25 hours on this game actually, but because of it I found the Total War Warhammer series, and have over 1400 hours on 1-3, (1000 of those on Warhammer 2)
Excellent beginner tutorial. Just bought on Steam last night, so nice to get some tips before playing a campaign. Are you familiar with the Total War: Warhammer series? If so, are the army movement/battle commands the same in Rome 2? If so, the learning curve for Rome 2 just got much easier for me. I was a bit confused in the Prologue battle screen by the army formation options. Do you have any other video that explain these in more detail? Many thanks! :)
Hi Barry. Thank you for the comment, I'm glad you enjoyed the video and found it useful. Yes, I am familiar and have a guide on the first TW Warhammer here ruclips.net/video/rncYscWAgt0/видео.html There are a lot of similarities with both games, with the main difference being the use of magic in warhammer. Hope this helps.
Nice video, good on you for teaching new players to Total War how things are done! :) You should also expand this series to some of the other Total Wars too, like Attila, Medieval 2 and maybe Rome 1 as well.
I only have a part 1 at the moment, though I wouldn't rule out a part 2 in the future if there was stuff which people wanted me to cover. I'm glad you found this video helpful :)
@Roenie these games can be quite overwhelming the last Total War game was Rome 1 so it's been a while. These tutorials are extremely useful for these games.
Thank you for the tutorial! Now I can actually win battles without getting annihilated when I have twice the number of troops as the other army (I found the secret is to move the difficulty slider down when I start off). Very helpful tutorial!
I haven't played any of Total War, but I am not new to these kinds of games. Its now 2019 Jan and see how awesome the game is. I am overwhelmed by how to begin. The technologies in this game it all we hope for from the old days. Can anyone a give direction how go at this? Your video tremendous but not enough for me I need simple understand. I played Total War Medieval 2 for hundreds of hours. I played the Warhammer versions of Total War and picked it up no problem. Yet Rome 2's interface is Greek to me. Why do they insist with each new Total War on making the unit icons more indistinguishable and the city building incomprehensible? Sometimes simple is better.
Thank you so much man. The game just throws a bunch of text and a few spoken words and expects you to understand everything and win, even on easy. It almost turned me away from the game And I really want to like it.
hope that they will remake this game..RW 2 i love the graphics & the large map & unit details but i love ROME TOTAL WAR 1 it have that golden touch in battles is much easier & tactics & realistic & u wont get tired !!
