Thank you so very much for posting this. Decades ago I sang in a choir where the director had the singers dress as Moravians, sit in rows on wooden benches, and sway as we sung this beautifully haunting hymn as though we were on an old wooden ship. This hymn immediately became one of my personal favorites. While the Welsh might sing this with gusto, for me, the slower version (as you've played it) seems to reach much deeper. I love it. Thank you again.
I cant believe nkosi sikelel iafrika, soutj africas national anthem, was based on this particular song.., so enoch whom made that song in 1897 loved church music thats awesome Thanks for uploading 😁
This narrative is hotly contested and there's no real evidence to support that Joseph Parry wrote the tune and Enoch Sontonga merely wrote the lyrics of 'Nkosi sikelea iAfrika'! #DoMoreResearch
Even as a National Anthem, it is Zambia 1st, then Zimbabwe that used this as their National anthems. Zimbabwe later changed to a different tune. Zambia has a soldiered on with their version of God Bless Afrika.
I am so sad. There was another RUclips video by Perfect Piano HD with this hymn tune, ABERYSTWYTH, for the hymn song, God of Earth and Outer Space, which was played faster and on electronic keyboard with some other extras and now it's gone! I found it on January 26, 2019 and listened and sang along with it several times since and now it's gone! I don't suppose you can possibly play this tune again but with deeper noted keys, and a touch faster in tempo, could you, Mr. Remillard? I loved that version, it sounds like a cosmic space adventure. Very manly and daring.

Yeah, I was playing with my band in a church service for the deceased members of the band. We played this, and I thought it seemed very familiar. I knew I had heard something like it somewhere.
Visiting again this November 26, 2022.

Very well done! This hymn and tune has such a reverent depth to it.
I love the old timey sound at the end of some notes of the recording that gives this a vintage, lo-fi vibe.
lo-fi hymns
Lovely performance I am thoroughly touched how calmly you played this allowing plenty of time to recite the lyrics as my own prayer Godly work
Thank-you!
3:01 I love this tune…back in the 60’s my school hymn was Take My Life and Let it Be which we sang to this tune.
This tune is one of my faviueate
My absolute favorite version.
Mine too. However, you should check out my friend Ruth Coberly's version! It is also wonderful. ruclips.net/video/llZOTF5gkb4/видео.html

You have to tell me more! Can you link to the SA anthem? I would love to see or hear it used this way.

I don't have a recording studio yet. It will still be a number of weeks. Remind me in December.
I am actually related to this guy to be honest I just fond this out!!!
AMEN ❤️🙏
Beautifully played, although the Welsh would sing this, as in most hymns, with fervent gusto and emotionalism. I am part Welsh in my ancestry.
Beautiful!
Could you share the score?
I can't find the E minor version, just the D minor which is too low for my voice...

@@AndrewRemillard thank you so much!
It's like a minor version of "God Bless Africa"
That would be very curious! It is a Welch melody.
It was Joesph parry who made it so I commented for that very missing credit
Ummm. if you checked the description I had Parry listed as he composer.
Trinity hymnal #508

Is this the theme tune from SS-GB?
I would have no idea since I live in the US and cannot watch SS-GB

Lovely! I can hear some of the resemblance, but I don't think they are related.
