My Mom sang this as she was passing away with cancer. She was weak but sounded like an Angel and Joy filled the room. I'll never 4get it. My Dad and I held our breath as we listened. 🙏 ❤
I was a single, pregnant woman with nothing but the clothes on my back, and an empty apartment with an air mattress for sleep. God provided for me and healed my relationships with my parents. In 1988, it was still very taboo to be pregnant and single. I went to church and received a lot of cold, judging stares. One time a young lady sang this song and I was overwhelmed with all the deep love Jesus had been showing me. These words were my words to Him. I still listen to that song every couple of months or so. Now I’m 61, happily married to a great Christian man. I have two children and 4 grandchildren. I’m so blessed. If ever I loved Him, it’s now!!!
My Mom passed suddenly without any warning. I was with her that morning and dropped her off to spend time with her granddaughter on her birthday. The dreaded unexpected call came she being taken to the hospital. She was 90 minutes away in another town. By the time I got there, she was gone. I cried so hard from the depth of my soul. Next morning as I was crying uncontrollably, her radio in her room was on the Christian Radio she listensto 24 hourss daily. Suddenly this song came on, and something took hold of my heart as I listened to the words and found such comfort in the beautiful words of this Song. It was like she was telling me, I am with Jesus, and I couldn't be more happier. In the days and weeks after, this song kept coming on her radio from her room. And each time i would be frozen as i listened to her telling she was loving Jesus, now more than ever. I still grieve her passing, even now. In two days it will be seven months since my beloved Mother went to be with Jesus, but I sure miss her so much. Thought I would share.❤❤❤
Oh my goodness, as I was reading your testimony my heart went out to you. Your darling mother would've been taken to heaven by Jesus to be with our Father! I was touch by your words as my beloved mother passed and I was heartbroken. I have never heard this song before until after her passing. I fell in love with the words as it reminded me of my mother. Your mother would be Jesus' faithful servant too throughout her life. It is hard, but you'll learn to live with your mother not being there. The loss doesn't go away. I am deeply sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences and sympathy goes out to you and your family! 🙏🙏🙏💜
@maxinedeleon4357 You are so precious beloved one of our Lord. Thank you so much for your gracious words. And likewise my deepest condolences to you and your family in the loss of your beautiful mother. It gives us more reasons to live our lives with heaven in our hearts because our mothers are there. In the words of another hymm, "When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus, we will sing and shout the victory!" Jesus is coming back for us one day, even as He promised 🙏 🙌 ❤️ Praise God. May we live holy lives with pure hearts, for Jesus said, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." Matthew 5:8. God bless you 🙏
On a bus tour around Jerusalem we stopped at the Church of All Nations next to the Mount of Olives. We were met by one of the monks that keep the church and told not to talk or make noise of any sort in order to be reverent. As we all knelt at the altar where it is thought that Jesus prayed before He was arrested, I was overwhelmed with an urge by the Holy Spirit to start singing "My Jesus, I Love Thee". I am a singer, conductor and voice teacher , so I am used to leading singing, but I hesitated because of the monk's warning. The Lord kept insisting that I sing the hymn, therefore I started singing. All those who were kneeling (and maybe others) started singing with me. It was one of the most profound and anointed times I can remember. God's presence was so overwhelming. After we stood up and were leaving the monk came to me. He was thrilled that we had sung and it had blessed him and all that were around. I can never think about this song without remembering the blessing of following God's instruction to worship in that holy place!
Dear Brother, 49 years ago I met the Savior. Rescued from the gangs, drugs and violence of the Chicago area gangs. As the days went on I wrote the whole hymns on index cards...ending up in inches thick. I memorized these and other hymns. Having suffered a painful spine injury 6 years ago, it's hard to read with comprehension. Pain is a mean taskmaster, but God's grace abounds! I also committed many scriptures to memory and in present these memories come to mind and feed my soul. Thank you for your videos! I appreciate your sincere respect for these truths.
So sorry to hear about your battle with pain...... I too have had pain issues ......but when I listen to words of encouragement from Joni Erikson Tada, I am strengthened..... She shares Christ in short messages., called "Diamonds in the dust "! May you persevere through your trial and bring glory to God.
This was my grandfathers favourite song. He passed in 1948 aged 91. He was born again in a war prison cell when a bright light shone into the cell and grandad fell to his knees and asked Jesus into his heart. He was immediately set free from alcohol aged about 20 yrs Praise God
This has been my testimony for a long time. My Sweet Momma lead me to Jesus at age 4. She loved Jesus and the Chinese women and Children in Formosa (Taiwan) and they loved her in return. Several years before she died she was in the hospital, sitting like she wasn't there, hunched over, not noticing anything, eyes were cloudy. The Chaplin came in and ask me if he could talk to Momma. At my answer ,"yes", he, said, " Mrs Fischer do you know Jesus? The Change was Dramatic. She sat up straight, her eyes were sparking as she said with enthusiasm, " O Yes, I know Jesus" It touched my heart in a mighty way. I sang it for her at her funeral in tribute to how much to how she love Jesus and served him.
This is the song chosen to be sung at my funeral, because I love Jesus, and I want the unbelievers to know I belong to Jesus. I am not being morbid, but joyful.
This song takes me back to Zimbabwe, in 2008, just after the burial of my father. My grandPa could not make it to the funeral on time, he only arrived a week later because there were no cars and buses in the rural area where we used to live. That evening when he arrived as we were doing our evening prayer, this is the song that was sung, We were all caught up with emotions, singing " Jesus I love you". After that the old man prayed and asked God to take care of us. That was a very hard time even economical, things were just bad, but God carried us Through. Today, 16 years later, I'm singing it alone my mother and my grandpa have died too. I miss them every day, hoping to meet them in morning when Christ comes
My daughter is blind and autistic. She loves music and especially anything that praises Jesus. She has assigned certain songs to family members I’m not sure why. My husband’s song is Blessed Assurance, her grandma’s is Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam and this My Jesus is mine. If I start to sing she will stop me and say ‘My Jesus’ which means no you are to sing only this. It reminds me of my deep dependence on Jesus and His love for me. I like the words ‘ if ever I loved thee’ because it contrasts my limited love with His perfect love.
After i gave my life to Christ as a young man i joined a small open brethren congregation in Fiji. This is where i first heard this song and it realy touched me. I later asked to have it sung at my wedding. The minister said it was not normally sung at weddings but i insisted abd we sung this beautiful hymn that i love to sing.
I m from.Burundi The song has been translated in kirundi My mum used to teach us the Bible when we were kids and she urged us to memorize that song by heart (the 1st song that I memorized) So that song is the first song I know about Love IIn my first step in life I learnt the Love of God before anything else I learnt to sing and say" Jesus I love You ,before even to declare love to anyone else In our burundian culture parents don't declare everyday that they love their kids ,they just do actions to show love😂❤ Now I m proud of my parents for that life lesson 😊 Because it has kept me up to now I love God before anything else
I am 69 years old , I have had a very ruff childhood , and just recently learn horrible details of that time , people as a child I had trusted and loved were monsters , I knew God saved me from what I did not know , today I know some , devastation filled me, was having a hard time praying , until I ran across this wonderful understanding , Jesus saved me because he loved ME a nobody , I had redecated my life to the Lord , to be better to love better to be that sheep who does not keep stumbling , I want to be that sheep that will hear come thy faithful servent , I believe to my core that I am loved wanted and secured in the arms of Jesus forever more ❤
Keep on, dear one. Jesus cannot lose you. You cannot lose him. The Father gave you to his son and Jesus says not one will be lost whom the Father gave him.
I always loved this song as a child growing up in the 50’s. Now I realize that it was because I was singing to Jesus not just ABOUT Him like so many songs.
This is a song that can be recognised when young BUT gets ever so much more precious as the older we grow. We can see how much more precious what Jesus did for all of us and how we can narrow it down just for us. Amazing and Thank You!
This was one of my Mom's favorite hymns and I hummed it to her as she was dying. I was too broken up to actually sing the words, but I knew it was comforting to her. She could hardly wait to see Jesus.
It’s 9:02 AM 5-31-24 This Morning for the first time when I Woke up at 7:32 AM - I said “Good morning Jesus”. Then immediately I heard this Song pass in my mind. So I looked it up and played it. It Truly felt to me like Jesus responded back to me by saying listen to this song. It happens quite often that I hear a Song that I have not heard in a long time pass in my mind and I write my own text to myself that says: From: Jesus To: Me and I Date it and Log the Time as a Special Memory!!❤✨❤️✨
This hymn is such an outpouring of love to the Lord for all He did for us, when we were desperately lost and needing a Savior. Every word expresses my love and gratitude to Him. Thank you, Luke, for this beautiful hymn!❤
I live with tinnitus and hearing loss. In the last several weeks this song has taken a place in my brain and shares space with my thinking almost 24/7. Especially verse two. Thank you
"If ever i love thee my Jesus, it is now"! No other time than now to show how I love thee dear Lord! As long as you lend me breath, I'll keep loving you!
This was my Dad’s favorite hymn. Beginning at age 12, I played the piano & he played his violin in church! …then we enjoyed combining the organ & violin, and then my singing with only his violin! At his memorial service, the congregation sang it, having heard him play it on his violin! Cherished memories!
This was my grandfather's favorite hymn. He was the grandson of the founder of Waldheim Saskatchewan. I heard him play this song on the piano and sing it in Langley Prairie, BC when I was about 8 years old. Waldheim became the headquarters of the Mennonite Church. Around 10 or so years ago, I tried to find his grave in Royal Oak Cemetery on Vancouver Island. My son and I sang this song there in memory of him.
Its past 2am 31 may 2024 and my mum sent me this beautiful song,it inspires and I've prayed with it all night particularly for my 94 year old dad who is so unwell. I feel the presence of Jesus in my hotel room in Barcelona now and lm telling Him for purchasing my pardon on the trees of calvary l will love Him till my last breath. It's an unexplainable experience to feel His presence praying with this song .tears keep filling my eyes. God bless you.
I pray your Dad will have comfort and peace and will be strengthened by the hands of the chief physician Jesus 🙏🏻🙌 Be healed by his stripes I pray in Jesus name Amen Amen & Amen 🙏🏻
American Missionaries brought these type of hymns over to Hungary Post WW1. My Grandmother/Mother were saved/baptized by the Baptist Minister, walked 4 miles to church and back every Sunday. Mother sang all the hymns prior to WW2. Then Post WW2 I was born in Germany in 1952 and Oma, Mom and I sang as a threesome in all 3 languages before Father. He cried hearing us sing. I immigrated to USA and left them all behind. Sad. Miss them terribly. But yes, the words as a teenager in all my sins always touched my heart. My redeemer, my Savior art thou, If ever I've loved thee, now in my 70s, my Jesus 'tis now.
"I love thee beacuse thou hast first loved me" ...takes me back to my high school days. The hymn always left me with a lump in my throat. I didn't fully understand why back then but thank God, now I do. .
This has been a favorite song of mine since childhood. When I was in my early teens I asked my mother when I had first heard her singing this song. She chuckled and told me "honey I've been singing this song since I was younger than you are now" So since I believe babies can hear in utero: I have LITTERALLY known this song all my life. Thanks Mom! Miss you.
I love this beautiful hymn, but most churches are not singing the hymns any more and this is really sad. This hymn touches my heart and it makes me cry when I sing it. These hymns draw me closer to my Lord and they bring great joy to my heart!!
Nothing lifts my spirit, heart and soul like singing a hymn like this. It is so sad they are seldom sang in churches today. Thank you Luke, I enjoy and appreciate your programme.
I feel like you do. The church I attend has decided to shelve our beloved hymns in favor of entertaining the congregation with loud electronic music. The voices of the congregation are no longer the focus. I believe the Lord is not pleased.People have stopped singing.
We sang this song at my dad’s funeral. We believed the words reflected his walk with God….from accepting Christ as his saviour as a young man, becoming a pastor, marrying my mom, fathering 5 children and adopting 1… throughout his highs and lows, death from cancer and his ultimate victory over the grave, to an eternity with God. God, I miss him. God, I am thankful for eternal life. ❤
This week we celebrated the life of one of our Elder pastors who passed at the age of 102. The song follows his life and devotion to Christianity. He was still leading people to the Lord just days before he entered his heavenly home with his wife of 81 years who passed at the same time. They had served the Lord with devoted hearts since meeting as teenagers. Untold souls are now serving the Lord because of their love for the Lord. They now rest in endless delight.
My parents sung duets around the piano. They instilled a love for hymns in me. My Mother taught me to play the piano by playing Hymns. I learnt this one and memorized it. I have been privileged to sing it in front of a Salvation Army church. The lyrics make it so personal and one of my favourite hymns. My Jesus, I love thee ....my Jesus this now. ❤❤
The stark contrast between the crown of thorns that Jesus wore compared to the glittering crown that His faithful ones shall wear if they continue to follow Him to the end ....
The verses that have always stuck out to me are the beginning of the third verse and the end of the fourth. "And sing when the death dew lies cold on my brow. As a child, I thought they were so somber. As I grew older, I realized he was saying he was going to love and praise Jesus all the way to the end. And then that first line of the last verse, "In mansions of glory and endless delight, I'll ever adore thee..." So glorious! Where verse three talks about dying, verse four reminds us that there is life after death!
Absolutely powerful.thank you so much for reminding us of the old times religion songs written. I grew up with these hymns, as children we grew up at the home alter singing and praying. Beautiful memories asxwe onward Chridtizn soldiers. The line speaking to me , is when the death dew lie cold on my brow . The crown is waiting in life and Death. The light in the Mssion of life. I will sing with the glittering crown on my brow. I love my Jesus Tis now. 😮 The death dew change to a crown in the Masion filled with light. God bless you Luke.
Thank you for presenting the history behind this hymn. It's also one of my best hymns. It's always the chosen hymn I sing during the hardships of my life. It comforted me at the memorial service of my son 4 years ago, knowing that even through painful moments, nothing will separate us from the love of our Lord. God bless you!
One of the most beautifully written hymns. It has been one of my favorites since I was very young. The words are powerful and so full of meaning. Thank you for focusing on this lovely hymn.
Amen. This is my favourite song. My Lord ministered through this song when I was praying in grief and fell to the ground singing this song just three days after I lost my dear husband in 2010 quite young at 51. His touch of comfort has been so strong all these 14 years and He has not left my side. I truly love my Lord Jesus. My husband loved Him too and though a Robotic Engineer, he served as an organist in the local Church for 25 years.
I sang this when I was younger at church. I like the first line of the first verse just to know that Jesus loves me so much and to He’s mine is so amazing, it’s beyond comprehension. And I can’t wait for heaven to see Him and love Him evermore.
Five years after my hubby rested in Jesus, this song comforting words touch my heart as Jesus death and resurrection is my living hope of eternal life and glory forever. Amen
I learned this as a young person at c hurch and enjoyed it on the mountain retreats each fall. Such a comfort .I'm now 82 and sing it often as I do need him all the time !!
I was raised in a Southern Baptist Church in the 50's and 60's. My Dad was the pastor, so I was there every Sunday, morning and night. Therefore I know many hymns. I woke with this hymn on my mind this morning. Thank you.
First heard it in mission school, few months after my conversion. The part that says "I love thee because thou has first loved me" would cut deep within, that he has loved me first! I still ponder a lot. However, y earnest memory of this was in a mission field in a distant land with people of a different culture and language, but that we'd sing and adore the Lord together with this brother playing the piano for us and the other who never knew English very well but still strum the guitar made me admire the unity amongst brethren. that we can connect thro the Spirit and adore God even when we don't understand one another's language. How beautiful heaven will be when we all speak one language
When I was about 12 or 13 I remember singing three or four verses of this song at my grandmother's nursing home as a solo presentation to them. This was almost 60 years ago. I do not remember being a bit nervous, although in my twenties and thirties I would have a great fear of speaking in public. My dear Lord and Savior Jesus was with me, calming and encouraging me even when I was not aware of it back then. For whatever reason, even though we attended church regularly and I knew who Jesus was-- I had no idea at that time that He could help us in our day-to-day life. With His mercy and Grace He has allowed me to grow much closer to Him and understand much more of the depth and the riches of His Love. Your thoughtful videos are a part of that learning process. Thank you so much for your inspired work on sharing these lovely hymns that I thankfully remember singing.🎶 May God richly bless you.💫
JESUS is my breath, my heartbeat, the blood in my veins! My morning, my night.. forevermore! Let us thank Him together for this special week-end Passover❤❤❤
Dears the absence of our beloveds r painful but our hope is in our lord jesus christ one day we ll be there with our lord an will see our beloveds be happy an be ready an waiting for our lords coming
I grew up with this hymn. We would sing this nearly weekly at our Breaking of Bread service. The lyrics speak so well of our Lord's Death and resurrection.
It reminds me of my high-school days,we used to sing these hymns in the chapel before we could go to classes and it brings fresh memories of my christian walk in High school. That line "If ever I loved Thee my Jesus, 'tis now." reminds me that today is the day I ought to love God,not tomorrow ,yesterday is gone but today. Thank you for the good work you are doing. Kindly keep them coming
This is such a beautiful hymn. It is personal. So touching. My Jesus, I love thee, I know Thou art mine. The lyrics speaks for itself. One of my mom's favorites ❤ I simply love the old hymns. Thank you!! God bless!! I've just been listening to Paul Baloche's version. So beautifully sung. What a powerful song!
This song was one of my father’s favorite hymns. It was sung at his funeral when he died of stomach cancer at 65. It reminds me of him, reminds me that he is with Jesus, and reminds me that I also have a personal relationship with Jesus as well. Someday will sing together.
I was raised in the Church. My Daddy was a music minister before he surrendered to God's call to attend seminary and become a Pastor, Preacher, Teacher & Missionary for Christ. So... I can't remember never knowing this beautiful song! One of my greatest memories, is from college. At John Brown University, three AWESOME voices: Suzie, Kim, & Melissa would sometimes sing this song in beautiful harmony during Chapel. It is forever embedded into every rafter and the lovely stained glass of the Cathedral of the Ozarks! I still remember the sweet presence of the Holy Spirit!!! ✝️And indeed they sang every verse when it was the special music for Chapel. For ppl young and in college, to recognize the value of this old song, is a very blessed testimony of our Jesus! ✝️ I'm so glad you chose to feature this song!🙏
Hello Luke-- LOVE your videos!!! My Jesus I Love Thee is one of my favorite hymns!!! I sing it to my Jesus in the mornings!!! Thank you for Blessing me and all who listen to all that you bring to us!!! ✝️🎶📖🎶🙏🎶⛪️🎶
I am so thankful that Jesus loves me and that I am His and He is mine! May I live loving Him and loving others with His love! Thank you, Luke, for sharing these amazing hymns!
One of my favorites. My wife Karen and I had the congregation sing this at our wedding 30 years ago, and I’m still so glad we did. Thank you for featuring this old hymn and sharing your work in assembling the back history of this old hymn. - j.a.c.
I usually begin my day ministering to the Lord at the piano. This morning, I began with this song. It was a real cry of my heart. Thank you for sharing it.
I became a Christian at 15 years old. Because of this I ended up going to a Christian College, Gordon College in Massachusetts. It was there that I first heard this hymn and loved the simplicity of it. I could identify with the words because I felt that God pursued me and chose me and made it really easy to say yes for him to come into my heart. So, he first loved me. Later, I realized that A.J. Gordon had written the tune and also founded the school I was attending. Even though I very young, I decided that I wanted this hymn to be sung at my memorial service whenever that would be. I am now 62 and feel the same way.
This song is a testimony of my changing life in Christ. Anytime i heard it , tears would not stopped coming from my eyes. I was living in sin even though I was in church. But one day I heard this song on a radio station immediately the Holy Spirit brought me conviction, I repented from those sins and right now I'm living for Jesus, because He loves me more! Thank you brother for this ministry ❤
One of my family's traditions is when we have a family gathering, that we have a group singing session. This sometimes also comes down to a duet, trio, quartet, etc singing. On one occasion it was a smaller gathering and my brother who is just older than me had a hymnal out and asked me if I would sing the harmonization to "My Jesus I Love Thee". I had always known that I loved this song because as you say, it is such a personal message song. My brother asking me to sing it with him made it even more special to me. Since then, every time I hear or sing this song I think of this special event between us.
bellisimo ministerio el que haces contando la historia detrás de cada himno y luego interpretarla con esa preciosa voz y magistral interpretación de piano... magistral es todo!! El Señor te bendiga!!
My mom had just been discharged from hospital after being there for two months to do a pacemaker surgery then got T.I.A. Her friend sent this song to play for her. 🙏
My children and I were singing this as my husband was taking his last breaths and entering heaven🩷😭. Thank you so much for this beautiful channel in such a dark world. God bless you and your ministry 💕
This hymn was a powerful part of my early days as a believer. I went to a Steve Green concert by myself, arriving late because I just found a babysitter at the last minute. I was probably the last person to be seated in the large auditorium. The usher took me to the front row, middle. I was enrapt! Steve sang this song as an encore, sung totally accapella with a modulation on each of the verses. I felt His presence so personally as I soaked in the beauty of these lyrics and the powerful melody sung by the spectacular voice of Steve Green. WOW! I want to use it at my funeral.
Thank you Luke Powell. I have talked with other brothers and sisters in Christ. And we say we don't have to fear death for we trust in God to bring us home to him.But the pain is horrific and we might then say "May we die quietly in our sleep!" This hymn depicts seasons in our lives. Perhaps we were young and came to saving grace. What moved me today and so beautifully is this: I'll love Thee in life. . I will love Thee in Death. And as I lay on my death bed, grateful to have life in you now dying and continuing to praise Thee Lord as long as thou lendest me breath. And finally: And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow, If ever I loved thee, from my time when I received 2nd birth to death dew on my brow: If ever I loved Thee my Jesus Tis now! Amen!
M going to dang ds song on Sunday that is day after tomorrow, today at night m prayer God will heal me as my throat is sore n pain I feel like cry 😭 feeling so emotional now please pray for me n this is very new to me i just come get to listen n got into ds video. Thank you for video 🥺
I absolutely LOVE this hymn, all the verses are extra special to me. Indeed I love Jesus, BECAUSE He First loved me. But verse three is my top favourite "I'll love Thee in life, I will love Thee in death, I will love Thee as long as Thou lendest me breath," When the death dew lies cold on my brow, I want to be loving my Jesus with EVERY fibre in my body, soul and spirit. An absolutely magnificent personal hymn. However I changed a FEW words in the last verse, "I'll sing with the glittering crowns at Thy Feet." I won't have any crowns on my head, they will all be at the feet of my Jesus.
This is the first hymn you have sung that the words have been the same all the way through to what I know & love here in Australia. This is a wonderful hymn to sing to the Lord in quiet devotion. It draws vivid images to my mind when singing each verse & is not an easy hymn to sing without emotions overtaking one. So whoever wrote it doesn't matter except that the Holy Spirit superintended it because both the words & the music are glorious & it falls easily from the lips!! So thank you for choosing it today.
I’m a musician. Depression has ‘robbed’ me of the joy of music for years. However, I suddenly thought of this hymn and googled it on RUclips. This was the first video that came up. I was very tired and, however interesting I’m sure the history behind it is, I nodded off(!) That is, until . . . My goodness! The joy you must bring to the Saviour’s heart! That voice! The beautiful harmonies! Thank you so much for helping me to join you in heart worship of the beautiful Saviour who alone is worthy of all the praise! Now that I’m awake(!) I’ll rewind the video and hopefully remain so long enough to listen to the whole thing! Thank you!
These a definitely the words of a NEW Believer !!! However . . . a new believer still rather naive of terrible hardships of life as a young man would be (accepted Lord @16 & died @ 28) OR a new believer who has spent many years, even decades denying belief & saving grace of a Redeemer, perhaps even attending church regularly but never quite coming to the realization until later in life under more extreme circumstances? Personally, I believe the young man wrote it, but such a young death, somehow the older man came across the song, maybe even at the funeral, or the funeral of the heartbroken mother - obviously was touched by it, so lets give him benefit of the doubt & say he got it published in loving memory of the boy & his mother! Either way, God inspired the words of this song & wanted it in the hearts & minds of His children, God made it happen . . . & I'm delighted that I get to enjoy it. Thank you for sharing this!!! God bless you.
I'm listening from South Carolina and enjoy your videos. I cherish the Hymns and the stories behind them. My JESUS I love thee was a hymn that I learned of back in the late 1980's, I find it very helpful to help me have focus in the right direction as traveling life's journey with JESUS. Years ago I would sing it with a sound track. it's been too long since I've sung this in worship to our dear LORD JESUS.
Paul Sjolund's arrangement of this was one of the first songs I ever learned in a church choir when I was about 10 years old, and I loved it so much but didn't remember who arranged it, and never could find it again until a few years ago. It's a standard on my Easter playlist the last several years.
My Mom sang this as she was passing away with cancer. She was weak but sounded like an Angel and Joy filled the room. I'll never 4get it. My Dad and I held our breath as we listened. 🙏 ❤
I can see this precious gift of a moment now! Besutiful!!!!
God bless you!
Beautiful comment. God bless you and your family 👪 ❤
@@DarrenCarrie thank you
So powerful
God bless you 🙏
Thank you for sharing. May you continue to sense and know the Love of Jesus through your grief & time being separated...

Sorry for your great loss. Thanks for sharing.
I have prayed for you and your family. The Comforter of all comfort be with you. Abundant blessings! Jeremiah 29:11
Very inspiring
Be blessed
So sorry to hear about your battle with pain...... I too have had pain issues ......but when I listen to words of encouragement from Joni Erikson Tada, I am strengthened..... She shares Christ in short messages., called "Diamonds in the dust "! May you persevere through your trial and bring glory to God.
WOW , God is good , i am so happy for you , God Bless You Always ❤
The Lord be near you for comfort and fill you with His Holy Spirit 🙏🕊️👑
This was my grandfathers favourite song. He passed in 1948 aged 91. He was born again in a war prison cell when a bright light shone into the cell and grandad fell to his knees and asked Jesus into his heart. He was immediately set free from alcohol aged about 20 yrs
Praise God
Wow!
Praise God indeed!!❤
I love Jesus more than anything else in this world. Jesus loved me first and He died for my sins. I will live to glorify Him for the rest of my life.
P
"I loved thee for wearing the thorns on thy brow" is one of my favourite parts.
Sacrificial li estate. For you. For me.
Love.. for. ***
Oh What a perfect song to have sung at the time You will be with Jesus in the Heavenly Realm!! Glorious ❤
I also want this sung at my funeral 😊
I have always wanted this song to be sung at my funeral. Not that I'm expecting to have one soon . . . 😊
So beautiful I love and know it.
Sung this in Sunday school
Hold on a little longer. You shall see them again in the resurrection morning
@@emeliamangeya1712 surely
You will see them again, and there will be no more goodbyes.
My Jesus I love Thee. Nothing more, nothing less.
A wedding is a great place to have this hymn that clearly presents the gospel! For some that's the only time they ever go to church.
My wife and I sung it on our wedding last week. Its our favorite song constantly reminding us that we love God because he loves us.
I m from.Burundi
The song has been translated in kirundi
My mum used to teach us the Bible when we were kids and she urged us to memorize that song by heart (the 1st song that I memorized)
So that song is the first song I know about Love
IIn my first step in life I learnt the Love of God before anything else
I learnt to sing and say" Jesus I love You ,before even to declare love to anyone else
In our burundian culture parents don't declare everyday that they love their kids ,they just do actions to show love😂❤
Now I m proud of my parents for that life lesson 😊
Because it has kept me up to now
I love God before anything else
God bless you sister, thanks for sharing!
I am 69 years old , I have had a very ruff childhood , and just recently learn horrible details of that time , people as a child I had trusted and loved were monsters , I knew God saved me from what I did not know , today I know some , devastation filled me, was having a hard time praying , until I ran across this wonderful understanding , Jesus saved me because he loved ME a nobody , I had redecated my life to the Lord , to be better to love better to be that sheep who does not keep stumbling , I want to be that sheep that will hear come thy faithful servent , I believe to my core that I am loved wanted and secured in the arms of Jesus forever more ❤
You're THUMB BODY like me. God chose us and new us from before the foundations of the earth were created. Ephesians 1:4
Keep on, dear one. Jesus cannot lose you. You cannot lose him. The Father gave you to his son and Jesus says not one will be lost whom the Father gave him.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God!
Jeremiah 29:11
PTL!!!
I’ll praise Thee as long as Thou gives me breath (favorite line)
Thank you
Compassion for your condition. I will share your comment with my friend who has the same illness you have.
If ever i love Thee my Jesus it is now 🙌🏻🙌🏻✝️
"I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow" has always been my favorite part of this wonderful hymn.
I love this hymn so much that I don’t have words to describe it; I mostly have tears whenever I sing or hear it. A summary of the entire scriptures 💕💕
I pray your Dad will have comfort and peace and will be strengthened by the hands of the chief physician Jesus 🙏🏻🙌
Be healed by his stripes
I pray in Jesus name
Amen Amen & Amen 🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing your beautiful story. Praying for you!
She chuckled and told me "honey I've been singing this song since I was younger than you are now"
So since I believe babies can hear in utero: I have LITTERALLY known this song all my life.
Thanks Mom!
Oui! Dommage que nous ne les chantons très peu !
I feel like you do. The church I attend has decided to shelve our beloved hymns in favor of entertaining the congregation with loud electronic music. The voices of the congregation are no longer the focus. I believe the Lord is not pleased.People have stopped singing.
Precious song personally sung to Jesus!! You sang it slowly, meaningfully, and well!! Thank you!
That’s beautiful. Sounds like a wonderful father.
@@Lynoreprice he was 🙏🏾🕊️ 🙂
This week we celebrated the life of one of our Elder pastors who passed at the age of 102.
My Jesus, I love thee
....my Jesus this now.
The death dew change to a crown in the Masion filled with light.
God bless you Luke.
I love Thee because Thou hast first loved me.
Old hymns are becoming more popular these days, this one, we sing in our church, to this day. We are an Assemblies of God church in South Africa ❤❤
I love this song since my early teens, i'm now 65 and i still love singing it.
I love Jesus Christ. I love this song, sung it in Sunday School and Youth and now in my room. It comforts.❤
I'm a missionary and have met Christians in 11 different countries. The bond of the Spirit is definitely there, no matter where on earth you are.
Thank you so much for your inspired work on sharing these lovely hymns that I thankfully remember singing.🎶
May God richly bless you.💫
JESUS is my breath, my heartbeat, the blood in my veins!
I love my sister in Christ ❤
❤
So glad to hear that. My sister who is in heaven could do that. I can't play piano...just pray...but I like music in the morning.
Hallelujah dear sister!!!! ✝
"If ever I loved thee, Lord Jesus 'tis now"..........these are the words I would like to say no matter the circumstances I am in.🙏🏿
One of my family's traditions is when we have a family gathering, that we have a group singing session.
This is my favorite hymn. The last verse is a most wonderful expression of faith. Death does not have the final say.
bellisimo ministerio el que haces contando la historia detrás de cada himno y luego interpretarla con esa preciosa voz y magistral interpretación de piano... magistral es todo!! El Señor te bendiga!!
After I have my nightly prayers, this is the song I sing to my Savior, all 4 verses.
My mom had just been discharged from hospital after being there for two months to do a pacemaker surgery then got T.I.A. Her friend sent this song to play for her. 🙏
I love this hymn . It is one of my worship songs. And I listen to it almost on a daily basis. Thank you Father 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks you for this which brings back precious memories of my departed hubby of 51 yrs together. He treasured this song.❤❤😂❤
All my life this has been and will forever be my favorite hymn. Thank God for instilling these words on the Author's heart. SDG
"I'll sing with the glittering crown on my brow, if ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, tis now"
Thank you Luke Powell. Amen!
Some nights , I am awake for periods of time.
This is one of the songs I sing to keep my mind centered on Christ.
M going to dang ds song on Sunday that is day after tomorrow, today at night m prayer God will heal me as my throat is sore n pain I feel like cry 😭 feeling so emotional now please pray for me n this is very new to me i just come get to listen n got into ds video. Thank you for video 🥺
one of the most affirming hymns of all
I enjoy the history behind the old church hymns. Thank you for sharing! ❤
Happy Easter!
This hymn is one of my favorite hymns!! I love the words!!! My love letter to my Heavenly Daddy!!!
I love thee for wearing the thorns on thy brow if ever I love thee my Jesus tis now
This is the first hymn you have sung that the words have been the same all the way through to what I know & love here in Australia.
My favourite hymn! Thank you for giving the undiluted history.
I’m a musician. Depression has ‘robbed’ me of the joy of music for years. However, I suddenly thought of this hymn and googled it on RUclips. This was the first video that came up.
I was very tired and, however interesting I’m sure the history behind it is, I nodded off(!)
That is, until . .
And say when the death dew lies cold on my brow if ever I loved thee Lord Jesus tis now. Oh I hope I will too.
Ah Luke, you don't know how timely you and this, one of my favorites, hymn are today.
I ❤. This. Song. I. Want. It. Played. When. I. Pass. Away. I. ❤. My. Jesus. 😊
🙏PRAISE THE LORD🙏
Luke
You were meant to bring these lovely words written Years ago back to us
