  • Having a reliable timepiece on your wrist, is a must in my world. Whether helping my keep track of distances covered or knowing how long something has been cooking, a good wristwatch is still preferable to the many high-tec
    alternatives out there.
This is the one I use and have been using for many years.

Great little watch I have owned one for 5 years now and it is the favourite one of my collection. I put it in the inside of the window at night. When the sun comes up it starts charging. Put it on after breakfast and thats all the charge it needs. I only adjust it once a month on the 1st and its only a few seconds out at the most. I am really pleased with it. Thank you for a very interesting talk.

I'm getting one for Xmas off my daughter. £35 from Argos. I swear by Solar powered watches. I have a Citizen eco drive which is 18 years old and a Casio Wave Ceptor Tough Solar which is 17 years old. Both are still going strong. They were both £100 and similar models are now at least £150 which makes the Casio Tough Solar a great buy

Great watch Neil, I've had one for about 9 years and it's been a great wee watch. The lume is not great but I can live with that. Great features and nice and light and I love the solar power.
Don't know what's happening with the sound but starts off great then gets really quiet when you are talking about the watch features then back to normal when talking about the strap.

I have the same one and I do construction. Just bought it to beat up and 8 years later it looks like crap but it's still kicking. 👌 super cheap for what you get. The strap is starting to tear but other than that it still works pretty well.

I love how banged up it is. Thought it was a G-Shock at first.

Pros: it's analogue, tough, lightweight, solar and cheap. It wears easily for its size. Cons: the lume is weak, the only feature that illuminates is the tiny digital window, and the WR is fairly low for any extended periods under water. Overall though at this price it's a no-brainer.
BTW someone who worked at the now-defunct Casio store on Carnaby Street told me that almost every watch they took in for a battery change had the silicon sealing ring badly seated from new, meaning that the watches were barely water resistant at all. Well worth taking the back plate off and checking; re-seating the O-ring is very simply done.

Not tough at all. Very weak imo. Strap springs are flimsy as hell. wore the letters off mine in less than a couple weeks and broke both strap spings in the first month

I use the Casio PRW-1500, which is also solar powered, features easy one-touch operation of it's Altimeter, Barometer, Compass and Thermometer. Also includes radio-controlled time (WaveScepter) technology which updated the watch anything up to 8 times daily so again never wrong. Bought it a a present for myself when I left the Army, updating my original Casio, which I've had since the 80's and is still working. ATB Malcolm

on aliexpress there are straps and replacement bezels for it. just unscrew the 4 screws on the front and the bezel comes off and a new one from aliexpress is cheap. you can make it look like new and even change to a different colorin no time at all.

I bought the watch for 40 pounds. I set it 5 days ago and the timekeeping has gained 2 seconds. Very good for the money including the solar battery. I have another casio which is a g shock model and the time keeping is the same. So once in a month and half I set the time -15 secs and it is as accurate as it will ever be, and it takes less than a minute to do this thing(good also to enjoy using the watch for something coz I normally only do for checking the time)

I have the red version of this. It is pretty good, as he says. And cheap for a solar watch. The only issue I have is the digital hands are sometimes not aligned right with the analog hands. And figuring out how to adjust them so they match up was not easy. Fortunately there is a video on RUclips showing how to do that. Overall I would recommend this watch.

I've just bought one - still £35 in Nov 2023. Only the hands are (temporarily) luminous. What I don't like is that it's difficult to read once it starts going dark. Would be better if the hands, numerals, and indices were in high contrast white. Terrific value though all the same.

We notice everything, even to the point that your watch has an Altimeter too. I love my EDC CASIO Watches albeit, my solar version, I've stored as I prefer my G-SHOCK Range. The other downside is that the straps that come with it are too wide for that compass to safely attach to. Win some, lose some, I'll find a hack for the original strap to attach the compass.

@@couchcamoteChannel yeah. Some people like watches. They are convenient and reliable. I'll just keep using my phone. I live in the southern part of a highly developed Island and there's no real wilderness to speak of here. I never wander far enough to get into any difficulty. If I lived anywhere that had real wilderness, I'd probably get and use a time bracelet.
