I never thought we’d live in a world where NBA greats are criticized regulary. Imagine growing up in the 80’s and 90’s and thinking yo one day some kids will attempt to poke holes in Jordan going 6-0 in the Finals and his overall resume. Society is losing its critclical thinking skills. Dream is like a head corner stone in NBA history while Gilbert is just a chipped piece of cement barely visible to the naked eye.

He was a rookie in 2001 so for him to speak so negative about an era not so far removed from his playing days is foolish. We should all know why this is done now. To appease one man and one narrative. Lebron has missed the GOAT mark badly and his career is all but over so his surrogates are out trashing 80’s and 90’s basketball non stop. Even when Kobe was ascending this wasn’t happening. There was always a reverence and respect for the legends of the game.

A lot of younger kids need to watch this video, 'cause Rod is teaching here. His point about today's defense is spot on - in the past, you needed to have a pretty good handle because guys were able to be more physical with you. Today, the rules have been changed to minimize the impact of defensive players - as a result, being able to dribble effectively with both hands, isn't a required skill.

When you hear Gil speak, it seems that a player's worth is based on the money he makes. Its a coping mec for him dealing with his own career. As long as he is paid, a ring ain't the thing. But he knows in the back of his mind that with the talent that he had, he had left a lot of meat on that bone. Last point about old school stars. Gil wasn't a alive to see a lot of them in their era, BUT they were and are alive to see his era and have the right to compare if they wanted. For example, I have seen the whole arc of Jordan's carrer in basketball, and even Lebron's. I have seen stars miss shots, but when all you have are highlights on youtube, then you miss the nuances of what made those players special. Gil act like Jordan's career began in the 90's. I tell people all of the time that my favorite Jordan, was when he had hair! LOL That's when the culture of Jordan was born, before the Chips.

People confuse being fancy with being good. If you do twenty moves and make a dude fall down and then you score that's 2 points. If Stockton does one move, just enough to make space and then scores it's also 2 points. Handles are overrated. You just need enough to get to your spot.

Stockton was crazy efficient with his game. He was fundamentally astute and had a high level of court awareness as a point guard. There was nothing really flashy about his game, and it didn't have to be. But like many greats, they ran into the Chicago Bulls dynasty at the wrong time.

Gilbert Arenas is an example of that generation who were raised by my generation (I'm 51 years old) with the desire to give them the things we weren't able to enjoy when we came up but we failed to give them what we DID get and that was a foundation of respect, manners and decorum when it comes to our elders and people in general. Gilbert knows better, we know he does, and he himself knows. He's trying to create a character and schtick to stand out from other athletes on social media. It's sad but I can't even be upset

Think about it on a rational level. Whenever Giannis struggled in the playoffs, it was in the half court when teams clamped down and collapsed on him in the defense. With Hakeem, he’s developing skills that will help him combat this.
Arenas is looking at this from his mindset which a 3-point, shoot from the outside mentality. He’s not even considering a slower, half court type of game.
