WITCHER 3 ► Gaunter O'Dimm' s FIRST APPEARANCE (White Orchard scene)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 27 сен 2024
- Master Mirror's first appearance and conversation with Geralt is way before Hearts of Stone. Gaunter O'Dimm helps Geralt in his search for Yennefer in the very beginning of the Wild Hunt storyline. If you aren't certain how this is, Gaunter O'Dimm is the main villain in Hearts of Stone Expansion of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.

Ahh, now I remember the bastard
MerkinMuffly O Dimm: awww, i am hurt that you've forgotten me :/
LMAOOO me too
Same
Same same he wasn't significant at that time and i was struggling to learn how to fight and shit
Ridicolous how well they tied in the DLCs without ever really Advertising them in the game.
Dark Souls and Bloodborne did it just as good.
the way they made him disappear here... could've never guessed
Genius.
Part of it is that the Witcher has so many colorful characters that O'Dimm doesn't really stand out until he shows up again. And appearing at the start of the game, briefly, you can easily believe he's just a coincidental meeting.
@@mrxxbrian I honestly thought that he just exited quickly, never thought that he just disappeared, teleported out of there; CDPR did a tremendous job with Gaunter O'Dimm here, when we first meet him, we think he's just some guy that's very well informed of most things, until HoS came out and we find out he's...something else entirely, something we still aren't sure about; as I said, CDPR did a tremendous job with Gaunter O'Dimm

"I'm not omniscient"
The cheeky bastard.
Of course he's not omniscient, when I asked him he didn't know where Ciri is.
He never lies.
Consumer JTC yea, he only bends words so much that they lose their real meaning...
Imbaseal I believe it's because Ciri has Elder Blood
i love how O'Dimm just vanishes
Something that I didn't even notice properly even on the second play through of the main campaign, but now after starting HoS for the first time and watching this back, it's bloody obvious ain't it!
First time i was confused, tought was a devs oversight...
He doesn't. He's to the left of the screen glitched under the ground.
@@Coregame3 incorrect, he also disappears exactly the same way the second time you meet him
@@mrxxbrian he's literally to the left

"Dude that was like 300 hours ago, no I do not remember you"
Lol exactly, the devs made him so much like an normal npc that he really got lost among all the cool characters.
I remembered him immiediately
@@krzysztof4607 well congrats to you (that sounds sarcastic, I'm not being sarcastic). In all honesty, looking back, the way he spoke was very... Intriguing for some random NPC. But, nice one, for knowing who he was.

And that would be great, by the way.

First time I met him on the boat I was scratching my head and had no idea where I was supposed to know him from. Started a new game a couple years later and nearly shit my pants at this scene.
Gaunter: "You look haggard."
Geralt: *dying from toxicity, veins popping out of his face*
good thing i didn't choose the cocky dialogues 😂 that time i had no idea that this bastard is like the Satan of the Witcher universe.
I want to say that I DID, but... all I remembered is that I wondered why this random guy received an unusually long screen and dialogue time without providing any really useful information. CDPR did well with O'Dimm! :)))
Satan? That's an understatement.
Vedlom sounds pretty accurate to me.
probably would of laughed off the remark or came back with a greater comeback.
I reckon Geralt's response to the "Is this about love" question would be "None of your business", so that's what I chose. I mean, why would he tell a random merchant (and I thought that he was just like everybody else) about his complex emotional relationship with Yennefer? Surely Gaunter wouldn't expect him to so easily either.
Always laught when geralt say a very patient Witcher
He didn’t know he can get spooned at any moment
Odimm: Ha. It will lift your spirit.
Geralt: Can't you see all the veins popping on my face? My spirit is already floating.
Odimm: To your health
Geralt: CAN'T YOU FUCKING SEE MY TOXICITY LEVEL RIGHT NOW?!
_I'm not omniscient_ Reminds me of Goethes Faust; Mephisto: _I'm not omniscient, but I'm aware of many things._
edi don't forget Marlowe's Faust :)
Oh HELL NO.
I've always wondered how characters written in that quietly confident manner always seem so intimidating. It's something I've always wanted to perfect for my own writing.
Gaunter O'Dimm
'G O D' thats a nice easteregg CDPR
Holy shit I've never noticed that! Brilliant!
Oh shit
Gaunter O’Dimm, Master Mirror, mirrors cast reflections in which case the initials spell out GOD and a reflection of god would be the Devil himself.
XxFaZeNoScoper360doesNoScopes420BlazeItxX I like your username takes me back to cod days
_OH SHIT_
the most powerful character in the witcher universe, and he sells mirrors
And he gets paid in... souls!
2:48 well he certainly doesn't mix his words
He always keeps to his word ^^
I jumped in my seat in excitement when I saw O'Dimm. I love his character, I wish we got to do more quests and contracts with him.
Fascist
I always thought the way they made him disappear was just a flaw in the transition from cinematic to gamemode.
Turns out they had this up their sleeve from the get go
cdpr showed us their magic right from the start. When I played HoS and Geralt said he remembered him, i was like, who the fuck's this guy?
When i met him he did seem creepy and didnt seem like any other npc and thought he’d play something in the story but next thing u know he becomes the main villain in heart of stone
"Im not Omniscient"
Oh the irony
What a friendly and helpful guy! Nice reminder that not everyone has an ulterior motive.
I honestly don't remember this encounter at all lol. it happened so long ago for me. When he mentions that he helped Geralt find Yen, I didn't know who he was.
Ali Hou maybe he knew that you would forget
When I met him at the boat I didn't remember him at all! Now after finishing the DLC and coming to this video I immediately remembered this scene and I remember thinking that this guy was suspicious and is gonna play like a bigger role than just an encounter and especially with that vanish at the end... But then I completely forgot about him only to remember this encounter now 😂😂😂
I remembered who he was, just forgot his name.
This is one of the first scenes of the game, within the first hour...
The first time I saw this, I was like "....... That was wierd." but I blew it off.
Then I got the Hearts of Stone Expansion. *shudders* Then I realized how amazing foreshadowing can get.
The detail of Geralt looking around for Gaunter because he vanished is genius. It's so subtle that you really wouldn't notice it your first time playing the game but once you understand who that fucker is you go "Ohhhh.. well shit."
just goes to show u shouldnt fuck with just anyone because you might be unlucky enough to run into the devil himself
Ah yes, back in the times when you had not a whisper of an idea who or what he actually was.
Back in the times when you thought that there's nothing special about this guy, just another NPC who you'll never meet again and forget after some time.
And then ... suddenly you do meet him again, he has his very own story and turns out to be worse of a douchebag than the devil himself. :D
I wonder if the developers already planned to do more with that guy when they were still working on the base game. :)
Yes they have. I've read articles and seen some collection of screenshots. O'Dimm appears in the game n MANY places and seems to always be watching Geralt and his activities. I've tried to spot him on my next playthroughs after reading about how he pops now and then in unexpected places as "one of the many NPCs in the background". It's not easy to find him. Waldo is much easier to be found :P
And, also, some of the earliest trailers for the Wild Hunt game have music and bits and pieces of gameplay and screens from the expansions - way before the launch of the Witcher 3 :)
Sure. Here are 2:
moviepilot.com/posts/3676134 and kotaku.com/the-witcher-3-riddle-that-players-couldn-t-quite-solve-1747185043
But aren't these all cutscenes from the DLC? Is he spotted at any point throughout the main game?
Vulkk why didn't they put the expansions into the main game if they had them BEFORE the game was released? so they purposely cut something out?
Pink Guy well it's not cut content because they hadn't made it yet. They only set it up in the base game then expanded on it in Hearts of Stone, which they would've developed after the base game. So no, it's not cut content and even if it was you can't really argue with how much content is in the base game
Geralt's face says: I better every potion I have before speaking to this sinister fellow.
man did u see the way he banishes at the end,,,oh boy...most enigmatic character ive ever seen in videogame historia ...period
Geralt's face was interesting in that last moment of the cutscene: "Wha?Where did he go? Oh, well, I have important things to do..."
foLLOw the RecKless behind the pillar at 2:53 lel, he sinks into the ground
Vulkk thats exactly what makes his appearence in the DLC so fantastic. As you descriped: „huh..? He just vanished....weird but who cares its PROBABLY nothing. And then in the dlc BAM mind blown
LOL his head was protruding from the ground LOL
Watching this scene back after finishing Hearts of Stone (I'm late, I know) and I never picked up on the fact that he just disappeared from the inn. Thought nothing of it. I now find it pretty incredible writing by CDPR, making O'Dimm seem like just some random guy at the inn, only to have him show up in the expansion. Really threw me for a loop when he showed up on the boat.
Nah hes just underground behind the pillar
O'dimm is like Gman of The Witcher universe.
Thanks for this. I didn't remember that
Now that you watch him here, so early in the game... don't you have the feeling that he isn't exactly a normal random NPC? :)
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist
first time i played and saw him randomly vanish i thought it was just a bug, didn't think anything about it. Bethesda had really set the bar low with some of my favorite rpgs
If they would add a small dialogue after O'Dimm disappears it would add a small hint. Something like "How did he manage to leave so quickly. I can't even hear him at the outside."
I never had a single clue who this guy was during my first play through, didn't even recognize him the second time he appeared and mentioned we already met, imagine my shock when I search it up and find this video.
The foreshadowing here is next level
hearts of stone and Gaunter O Dimm, the best story and character ever told in a game, ever.
TOTALLY NOT THE DEVIL
JUST A TOTALLY NOT SUSPICIOUS MERCHANT
JUST A MERCHANT OF MIRRORS
First time met him, I realized that he was different from all NPC here... all the peasants, soldiers, etc... I thought he was some kind of Priest/apostle... and in the end I also noticed he disappeared as Geralt was looking around for him.
"once I hear something. I never forget" that's because he can control time, in the dlc when he stops the time he quote perfectly what he said to Geralt at the crossroad
Didn't even think of this guy much. I totally forgot about him once he asks whether Geralt remembers him or not once you start the quest, and by that time I had almost 1 and a half weeks of playtime.
Gunter is such an adorable and nice guy, how could you not trust a person like him?^^
That's why the man looks so familiar. When i saw him at the boat, i knew i met him already. Aaaaahhhh witcher. Never fail to surpirse and amaze me
-Geralt, how many potions are going to drink
-yes
I had completely forgotten that I meet this guy made me go thru hell that bastard
Before the DLC ever came out, I remember pondering over this character after I went through this scene. He's a well developed character and just disappears into thin air. I later thought to myself, I wonder who and where that man went. 😆
I have just seen the first cutscene with gaunter o'dimm on hearts of stone, and searched for this immediately. I have to say, that I completely forgot about this cutscene, it was 4 months ago, and almost 90 in game hours prior
Gaunter without a doubt one of the top things this game got so right.
I really didn't expect this guy to be important later on. Really amazing attention to detail
Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting
I wasn’t sure while playing if they had it planned from the start or retconned it. But after watching this again, they certainly had it planned. That last line does it
I knew there was something special about Gaunter right off. Then promptly forgot about him and felt good about myself 40 game hours later.
Yeah me too.
I thought this guy was much more than he was letting on, especially when he disappeared and Geralt started looking left and right like Geralt was confused.
Then I forgot about him until I saw the ship, and I thought he might be a powerful mage.
Though I was wrong, I was right about one thing.
Gaunter is mostly nice, be nice back to him.
There's something about the way his animation feels... different compared to all the other NPCS. Uncanny is probably the word im looking for.
Master Mirror, the clue is in the name: what you see, is what you get.
He isn't evil, we are..
Yeah that's exactly what i thought. He is the incarnation of the evil within the hearts of men. He merely pulls out those darkest desires and then turns that against people in an almost karmic fashion. Who really committed the greatest sin? Olgierd for his lifetime of vile acts? Or Odimm for bringing self inflicted punishment? Both are evil, but the one made the other one real.
He's like Tahm Kench in lore from LoL. That little trailer they did for him about the gambler. Who is Tahm Kench the monster in the story really? Is he Tahm Kench, or is he simply the manifestation of the gambler's own vices and deeds come to consume him in the end?
Odimm is the evil that lurks in the hearts of humans made manifest. And that's why he's called "Evil Incarnate." An incarnation of our evil, not his own.
“I’m not omniscient” lol
At 2:52 you can see Gaunter O'Dimm's head sticking out of the floor just left of the pole.
The delicious 60fps
And so far no one mentioned that moment, where he said: "Gaunter O'Dimm, at your service"?
When he said that ("at your service"), his gaze turns darker and evil for a moment. It's scares me, anytime I replay this scene.
Gaunter talking about things that "dont hurt a soul". So funny
Damn..I didn't realize, it was him. The one I met in white orchard for the first. Such a genius plot. I never considered him before as this relevant to this game. I thought he was just a normal villager living and drinking there. He's even godly power devil. Malicimo.
Really hope O'Dimm comes back in The Witcher 4
"im not omniscient" ...the foreshadowing
‘i’m not omniscient’ -gaunter o’dimm, an omniscient demon
The moment I saw this dude I knew he was devil incarnate. Mysterious, vanishes and was in the same tavern where we first played gwent
Who came here because you realised that its main guy in hearts of stone...
Everyone
Interesting that he points you to Stjepan's pub in oxenfurt where Olgierd and his men end up staying...
I never knew until know. Totally forgot that we was in White garden.
Just finished hearts of stone, i didn't remember he was there since the begining
how well and good witcher was planned. Man this is breath taking
This reminds me of that guy in Skyrim who asks you for a drinking game and you pass out and you find out he's a demon
At this point, did anyone ever expect that this guy would be the most overpowered character in gaming history?
It wasn't till the 2nd play through I released we met him in the tavern
If a demon wants to have a drink with you, you'd better take it.
im happy i was nice to this guy at first
What do you mean? You think if you upset him, he might have turned you into... a rabbit? ^^
“Humble merchant”
Goddamn, Geralt looks wicked when he's hopped up on potions.
Who would've thought he was the devil. This game Is awesome
Oh gaunter, you sick devil
"I'm not omniscient" 💀
i had just come back for my second playthrough of the wild hunt after finishing the dlcs and what was my surprise when i saw him. altho his character in the wild hunt is more barbaric rather than in heart of stone in which hes more calm and wise in the words he chooses
Dat Aerondight doe 😮
Man his smile is so scary
When i first met him i was like “i am the GERALT, who do you think you are peasant”
Should have ended with Geralt saying "What the devil?" when he disappeared into thin air...
He seems nice.
I always thought he was way to charismatic to be a one off character but then he was until the DLC came and then I saw why. Amazing what they did with him.
lmao its him, he's the one who taught me gwent
To quote Al Pacino from the film Devil's Advocate "Look at me; underestimated since day one. You would never suspect that I'm master of the universe. That's the secret, got to make yourself seem small. The vagrant, the leper, they never see me coming."
maybe CDprojectred have allready composed they story of heart of stone when they publish the game
That's for sure, yeah. One of the very early trailers for Wild Hunt featured a music track from Blood and Wine. It must have been all planned well ahead before production :)
Second time played it a little. And loved it.
I just finished hearts of stone for the first time ever and was absolutely blown away. I’ve heard blood and wine is even better; I can’t wait to play that. But my question is this; was gaunter always at white orchard even before hearts of stone or was this added after that dlc hit? If he was already there in the original pre dlc release, did they always know they were bringing him back for a bigger role or did they add to his story later?
He was in White Orchard from the launch of the game. He was planned, yeah.
Definitely though it was odd the way he just vanished like that. I assumed it was a sign of some significance and that he would come up again later. After all the hours I sunk into the game, I'd completely forgotten about him by the time I got to Hearts of Stone. Blew my freaking mind.
I'm happy to know I'm not the only one who completely forgot who he was.
I should have remembered this encounter. The guy was as as shady as someone can be but I went on with the game and forgot completely about him. Nicely played.
Hum... Now i remember that guy
