I knew nothing about chickens when I got my NH Red. These awesome chickens have taught me. I always was lead to think chickens were dumb. I never knew that chickens show love. Yes very people friendly, One thing I don't like is they boss my ducks around...lol. They have impressed me in every way. They think I am they're mother and have made me open my eyes to enjoy the moment. They know when I grab my shouvel its game on for worms. If you don't like them, I'll take them.
We have a NH Red, Loren. She has survived 2 fox attacks on our coop. She was the sole survivor of 10 chicks. The 4 ducks and goose protected her. She has a loving personality. And has been hand tamed by 4 grand children. As I type this message, Loren sits in my arms in the office.
Yup, I've got chicks coming. It is good to see I made the right choice with little information other than my belief that since I live in NH a bird that was bred here would be a good choice. That and the fact that the RI reds that I have are well suited to my needs and environment. Excellent channel, thank you.
I love the channel! Just found you about a week ago and have been loving the information dense quick videos that give me things to consider about what breeds to keep an eye out for
I have six hens that are supposed to be jerseys, and one of them is absolutely massive. She was definitely older than the other chicks, but I’m wondering if I even have a room for them if they’re all gonna end up as big as she is. She is really tall and really pushy, very long legs and her tail is black blue green
Hi I just got chickens and I only have two but my New Hampshire hen is crowing like a rooster she has never been around a rooster and it just her and another hen. I really looked her over and she looks like a hen not a rooster. What do you think? She is eleven weeks old now.
I also have a NH hen, and she’s 11 weeks old, and vocalizing like a rooster. We didn’t order her, someone messed our order up at L&M; she’s the largest of our 9 girls, is silly and doesn’t like to be held. Cordelia is one gorgeous bird, though!
Wow...what did you do with that boring voice you had in your previous videos??? It sounded like that voice in the Spongebob show ....."one minute lategrrr...."
I’m in Australia and have a 14yo Hew Hampshire hen still going strong. My favourite chook. Thanks for the video

Awesome! Glad you like it
New Hapshire reds go broody often and at 280 e/t, are not as prolific layers at red shavers
Did I get this correct.

Brand new chicken guy. I have 4 NH reds and 4 Buff Orpingtons. Any thoughts on a good rooster breed for them?

Hens sometimes do this when there’s no rooster, the highest ranked hen will take his place and protect/even mate with the other girls

I just got one of these today! There doesn't seem to be much info about them. You're totally right, they really are overshadowed by the RIR.
yeah i have a new Hampshire its sneaky bird comes up behind u when throwing grain out side the coop
Cool video
