He says see ya pretty much because he thinks that Arthur is still gonna meet up with them at copperhead landing with the money. You don’t know when it’s the last time you’ll ever see someone. In the help John ending Arthur basically tells John he’s making a last stand and that’s why that goodbye was more emotional because they both knew they’d never see each other again
100% Man first play through I did high honor and helped John. I just finished my second last night And went back for the money high honor. This ending was just so badass along with the music that I think both are just fantastic no matter the choice. Each ending suits Arthur’s character And seeing Arthur help everyone he could but leave a path of destruction on his final day was just amazing.
If you max out your stamina and fight a pure defensive countering fist fight with Micah, you can actually beat the shit out of him for 5 long satisfying minutes before the cut scene.
I prefer this ending honestly, after having enough of Dutch and Micah's bullshit Arthur finally confront them with anger.. Plus giving Micah something to remember Arthur each time he sees his own face is worth it
I truly believe that in the low honor ending, if Arthur goes for the money, he does it for himself. The high honor version though, he does it for John and his family.
Exactly. Except I still think low honor Arthur would go back to John and split the money with him. High honor Arthur would just give John and his family the whole 40k and live the rest of his short life being a wanderer. Low honor Arthur would use his cut of the money to go west to a sanitarium like he said to Rains Fall and try to delay the inevitable
The impact of John and Arthurs last talk is way better,John doesn't need help...but be needs his brother And also Dutch stepping on Arthurs hand, great moment
I just noticed something about this ending. If you go back for the money with high honor, you’ll be able to slash Micah’s with your knife leaving him with a permanent scar, but go back with low honor then you’ll be insulted more as how you’re much slower and weaker.
@@MLGProMaster-tu9tz imo his redemption was putting the money aside and saving John, an act of selflessness. It fits better that he's at low honor for that so that you're not already a perfect man
@@MLGProMaster-tu9tzthe game is red dead redemption, not just redemption. They are bandits and murderers, they are only redeemed in blood and death. Canon Arthur is most likely low honor, doesn’t mean he didn’t have some redemption before his death, but like bill, Javier, Dutch, and finally John, there is no true redemption in this story other than that which is found in the embrace of death.
During my playthrough, I took path of high honor and in the end when you have to choose between money and saving John, thoughts rushed in my head. - But John, YOU need that money, not me. We have to take them, Abigail got the key. - Whatever you choose I will return to my family. - AHHHH, SCREW THIS MONEY, time to save your sorry ass.
Has anyone tried to lure or throw him into the fire? 5 years playing this game and I still can't bring myself to go back for the money. Believe it or not this is the first time I've even watched it. Thank you for making the video and being part of the #RDR2 RUclips community
As much as I love the ending with Arthur on the cliff watching his final Sunrise before succumbing to his TB along with his injuries and exhaustion i enjoy this ending and find it more satisfying because you get to blind Micah in one eye plus Arthur goes full on Beast mode too and went out in a Blaze of Glory
You fail for abandoning the objective. I’ve never played this ending because it just seems wrong to me, but it just really seems like the game wouldn’t let you go back on your decision. Just like how you can’t bring back the people you’ve killed during the story, you can’t go back on your own choices.
No, you die facing east both times. Going back for the money ends with Arthur staying up at the sunrays through the tree line, implying he’s seeing the sunrise. Helping John ends with Arthur on the ground, staring at the actual sunrise over the valley, signifying a new dawn for his brother, and the beginning of a new century
Fun fact if you choose this ending with high honor. In the final mission American Venom, Micah will have a scar on his left eye where Arthur slashed him in the face.
I love how, in this end, which technically is the low honor one even if in high honor arthur just kinda looks at the sunlight and dies, I also like the idea of this option showing arthur as not much better than Dutch since he goes out bitting, scratching, like an animal and being led by greed and selfishness. I really think this end is the low honor one because it's the one where arthur dies for nothing, crawling out of a cave, while in the other end arthur goes out fighting with his last sparks of flame to make sure that his brother would live giving his all for someone he trusts and loves just like in the entirety of the game and even when faced with a fist fight against a man who has the upper hand he doesn't back down because he knows why and for who he's doing this, and when all is over he gets to die the way he wanted (from that one talk with hosea and lenny).
Helping John regardless of high or low honor is the only option here. It was Arthur's goal since beginning down the righteous path to help John and Jack and Abigail escape. In the end Arthur truly won because he saved 3 lives. That my friends is true Redemption. Easily the greatest story in a video game ever told. Doesn't even feel like a video game really, it feels like real life. When a game developer can accomplish that, it is then that they have reached true greatness in my eyes. Yeah Rockstar is most well known for GTA. And GTA is a great game no doubt! But RDR 2 is just on a different level. It's the stuff that legends are made of.
Technically I’ve always thought of the return for the money ending as helping John too because splitting up to get the Pinkertons off his back makes sense to help him escape.
Making this choice is complex. Bc it's pointless for Arthur to go back for the money for himself aaaand it's weird for Arthur to go back for revenge when he says throughout the story that "Revenge is an idiots game". It's out of character... and yet he's already dying with nothing to lose and it's a distraction for John to get away. But then your honor goes down if if you choose this option. I always decide to stay and help John. I just played this part of the game today again. I love it!
I wouldn’t say it’s weird, but rather contradictory, which makes it all the more human to me. I prefer him helping John, but people tend to make rash decisions that don’t adhere to their morals when faced with situations like this
First time playing the game, i was full honor and knew for sure i would go for the "good" ending, but when i was faced with the choice i just could't decide. Then when the timer started running and self picking "help John" i figured why would i let Micah and Dutch escape with the money. Knowing i was gonna die anyway from tuberculosis i decided to take them with me. This ending feels so real, i'm sure in the heat of the moment Arthur would't necessarily think straight, and neither did i. Masterpiece Rockstar
Something to note here is, in this ending Arthur bites Micah, which probably infected Micah with TB as well. The future of this ending would have Micah inevitably dying to TB as well.
@@trondboi2034since arthur was pretty close micah could have gotten it still, and he probably was breathing while biting so the air would have gotten in him along with the rb. A big stretch but still a possibility
Except that doesn’t happen at all 😂 The only thing different is that Micah has only one eye. Also it’s an airborne illness which means everyone in camp would’ve been exposed but I guess rockstar kind of forgot unless Arthur’s tb wasn’t contagious somehow
Not only do I think this ending is exactly what Arthur would do I also think he would use this action for 3 goals 1. Draw attention away from John as he makes his escape. 2. Take the money not for himself but to make sure Micah and Dutch don’t get the money at all. 3. Settle the score once and for all. Any and all anger and frustration boiled up over the course of RDR 2’s events is gonna implode on this showdown. Not only does this ending show the kind of strong man’s man that Arthur truly is but it also shows the good heart in a unique way only a very bad man can do. This ending takes my favorite spot by a little bit. Perfect story telling in this sequence ⭐️
Personally, I love the high honor ending on the mountain. It’s just too poetic for a man who’s spent literally his entire life fighting, to have his last few moments be the most peaceful ones he ever knew. This ending seems like it would be the actually that Arthur would go for. But like I said there’s just something incredibly poetic about the high honor ending.
I made a mistake of choosing this option on my first playthrough. I knew I fucked it up when I lost honor choosing it. My logic was that what's the point of the game showing the Abigail scene giving Arthur the key? So I thought the game wanted me to remember that and return for the chest. Well, mistakes happen. Still glad I gave Micah that scar though.
I did remember the key, and I still saved John. My thought process was that I could both save John, and at least make sure that Dutch and Micah don’t get the money. Arthur was buried with that key, so they lost in a few different ways that morning
This was my ending in my frist playthrough. I thought if I went with John we might both die so I returned for money to sacrifice Arthur for John. I didn't know there was a epilogue. And now that I have seen all the ending, I still think this is the best ending over going with John. It just feels right that Arhtur had lived a high honor life but would choose something like this as a dying ember. Truly a remarkable game.
I actually, in the "Go with John" version, killed micah because i had been in so many bar fights before this part. No secret ending, I just lost the mission.
I fought him perfectly and didn't get hit at all (besides the unavoidable hits which are literally scripted) and lost. Theres no way to kill him without mods during the fight.
Idk about that version but I know in this ending you were able to kill Micah if you landed enough knife hits (which is hard to do because he always parries unlike other npcs) but if you managed to kill him the game wouldn’t progress and you’d be stuck pretty much. There’s videos showing it happen on ps4
Don't like how contrived the knife fight is, Micah just materializes from somewhere on the left to tackle you. Then your guns go to wherever he came from. This ending is clearly the second option rockstar though up when they realized they needed a "Bad" choice.
@@daahorse1652yeah true, but I I prefer the fist fight. Makes more sense than repeatedly stabbing eachother with the knife. Plus gives Arthur a slightly less painful death.
the knife fight was way more badass than the fist fight. I hated how weak they made arthur in the other ending. This one he goes down like a warrior, even gets to slice out Micah's eye. The fire and music make this a more cenimatic ending as well
The fact that you can slice Micah's eye off and it stays scarred for the rest of the game is enough to say that you're wrong. I actually think this is the first ending they made, hence the inconsistent audio quality.
This is the canonical ending... watch it again. Its the only ending where Micah picks up the money. There's no other scenario where Micah gets the money. The scene with Abigail moments before the Last Ride, where she gives Arthur the key is the clue. That scene is irrelevant if you dont go back for the money. Arthur (good or bad) says they have to get John the money during the last train mission. That was to be the money for John n Abigail to start anew. John explains to Mr. Dickens, Abigail was cheated out of her "inheritance" (the camp savings) from her brother (Micah). This would only make sense if Micah stole the money. The only ending where Arthur "wins" the fight with Micah. In the others Dutch betrays Arthur by keeping him from killing Micah (steps on the gun), but doesnt stop Micah from killing Arthur. Micah said he prefers 5-6 good gunmen who can move fast. Then why does he have a gang of 50+ and how can he afford to keep all those mouths fed? If he left with the money with only 1 eye, he could afford to pay that many men and would have to because his accuracy is shot. Why does Micah fight differently in the end? When breaking Micah out of Strawberry or during the last Sean mission, Micah is a single shot sharpshooter. 1 shot 1 kill. In the epilogue, he a spray and pray. Would make sense he fights that way of because hes got One eye and his accuracy is shot. The final newspaper shows Micah with a bum eye because a scar shouldnt show in a black and white photo. Arthur tells Mrs. Downes about the afterlife, "I hope its hot and terrible, mrs Downes, otherwise id feel like id been sold a false bill of sale". He telling US that any ending which isnt him in a burning place is false. High Honor, go back for money is the one True ending.
First....who cares.... Second its players choice Third..i doubt theres a canon ending where the end will allways be the same...Arthur will die.. So....who cares about if Micha picks a bag or not... Canon would be Micah not getting this money becauese he gets the blackwater money either way...

I'll never see this or any other ending than helping john in high honor on my gameplay, I simply can't deal with the fact of Arthur not having his redemption in the ending, so, thank-you for this video!
I think Micah stabbing Arthur can be relate to camp encounter where Micah is sharpening his knife then you Antagonize him with Arthur saying: "Hide your knife your not impressing anybody" Something like that. Then Micah will rebut with :"You'll see someday"
this whole scene plays out like weird fan fiction. "he needs to tell dutch Micah is the rat" is the whole convo, but it lacks all the gravitas of the help John ending. no "I gave you all I had,'' no, "John made it...he's the only one. I tried, in the end...'' just "HES THE RAT". Dutch doesn't even seem upset. remember in the help John ending, he just stares at Arthur, "I....I...'' realizing what he's done.
If Im high honor I alway choose to help john, makes more sense to me and their talk feel more emotional. And yeah you get micah's eyes but I prefer to wait for american venom
This is the only ending where it seems Arthur actually dies from TB, the stab wounds definitely sped things up but i think he died from his sickness after falling unconscious while he watched the sunrise
yeah, there are 4 endings theyre both the same just depending on honour canon ending is high honour and helping john 2nd ending is high honour and getting money 3rd is low honour and getting the money and the least canon//worst ending is low honour helping john I think
Strangely in the 5+years since the game came out I have only finished it way back then never seen the part where Arthur decides to go back and leave John... the way Arthur shouts dutch and Micah come get me I feel that deep down that's what Arthur would do... yes I chose to help John further but the way he says those lines fits the Arthur Morgan you see in majority of cutscenes to me. Dutch massively let Arthur down after all those years a little revenge with aggression fits Arthur
It does make sense the most. Micah popping randomly on that steep hill to get to Arthur doesn't make sense, Dutch being there even more so. Also, it would explain Micah missing all those point blank shot in American Venom with him, missing an eye.
@@Tonius126eople seriously overestimate Micah’s accuracy. He has ONE feet of badassness, which is the that shootout in Rhoades(can’t remember how to spell it) In that ONE shootout he pops three guys fairly quickly, in that same time Arthur can and has killed 6. One for each bullet. Nobody mentions how in that same fight, if you are fast enough as the player, Micah outright comments on how deadly Arthur is if you kill everyone in the gunsmith before Micah gets a shot off. Which is possible, because Arthur was always faster and more accurate than Micah ever was. Not to mention that when the grays step out on the sheriffs porch, there’s maybe 4 or 5 of them, Arthur can kill all of them before Micah lands a lethal shot on any of them. Micah was absolutely fast, second fastest gun in the gang no doubt. But he simply was not as good as Arthur was and he knew it. Which is why he never truly duels Arthur face to face. No matter the ending, Micah ambushes Arthur and takes his guns out of the equation as quick as possible. Much as I hate Micah, he wasn’t stupid. Certainly not stupid enough to actually draw down on Arthur by himself. That alone should tell all of us what we need to know. All fanboying aside, Arthur truly was the fastest of his time, aside from maybe Landon Ricketts as we never have really seen Ricketts draw and shoot in rdr2s setting.
It's definitely not as impactful, but I doubt very many people have had high honor and ended up going for the money. They had to write in some type of ending that made sense for the situation, because it's a game of choices and consequences. I've always wondered what happens if you have high honor and go back for the money, though. I could never do it, I always choose to help John.
@@erkandjurk6090 I actually wondered the same thing people told me arthur survives for a bit longer then the other endings, I actually didn’t even know about this kind of ending in high honor and i thought it was a complete contradiction to Arthur Morgans character because i thought his intentions were the same as they were in low honor but it’s different
@@erkandjurk6090 I picked it during my first playthrough (with high honour) but not because I was thinking out of greed, rather I presumed that I was going back for the money so that John and Abigail would have enough to buy the ranch and be safe. If the option was "go with John" or "get Revenge on Micah" I would have been more likely to pick go with John since it made sense with how Arthur kept affirming the view that Revenge is a Fool's game. It was a kinda cool ending though knowing that Micah had to live the next 8 years blind in one eye and constantly reminded of Arthur so I didn't hate the ending, just wish it was more clear what going for the money meant.
The money was only a bonus. He knew it would be useless to him and the chances of returning to John with it were extremely low. In reality, Arthur broke. He was dying but he wanted to take Micah and Dutch with him. He wanted vengeance, despite saying it was a fools game repeatedly before. We finally see what Arthur has held back for so long and unleashing what he is capable of. Arthur Morgan is dead as the Micah, Dutch, and the Pinkertons are dealing with somebody else now. I also like to think he knew John wouldn’t want to go back for the money and he only said that so John wouldn’t think he was going back for revenge. Hoping John wouldn’t look back later on and think about this moment when going after Micah in the mountains. I also think the whole fight in the burning camp is a cooler scene than the one atop the mountain. Let alone the music

My own interpretation of my theory is that low honor Arthur still thinks there is time considering he hadn’t changed
@@josephstalin2606 good theory

The impact of John and Arthurs last talk is way better,John doesn't need help...but be needs his brother
And also Dutch stepping on Arthurs hand, great moment
It's still heartbreaking seeing Arthur die, especially knowing he died alone in both endings
I just noticed something about this ending. If you go back for the money with high honor, you’ll be able to slash Micah’s with your knife leaving him with a permanent scar, but go back with low honor then you’ll be insulted more as how you’re much slower and weaker.
"Im half dead and you still cant kill me" was the hardest line Arthur ever dropped ..
Bro ran out of weapon oil and dead eye😂
Lol
I had very low honor and many travelers met their end to my banditry. Even with all that there was no way I could leave John behind
Low honor is my personal headcanon. It just fits Arthur better. He said it many times, he's a bad man.
@@imaguyandabeautifulbutterflybut High Honor is who is to become, it is the name of the game, it is his redemption
@@MLGProMaster-tu9tz imo his redemption was putting the money aside and saving John, an act of selflessness. It fits better that he's at low honor for that so that you're not already a perfect man
@@imaguyandabeautifulbutterflyI did that on my first play through cus I didn’t think n it’s the saddest one cus Micah jus shoots u
If Arthur didnt get stabbed in the kidney he would have won the fight
He even knows when he says to Micah "You cant even beat me when im half dead"
During my playthrough, I took path of high honor and in the end when you have to choose between money and saving John, thoughts rushed in my head.
- But John, YOU need that money, not me. We have to take them, Abigail got the key.
- Whatever you choose I will return to my family.
- AHHHH, SCREW THIS MONEY, time to save your sorry ass.
Well, they had that bag of money to survive plus I had 3k in my pocket 😀
I was just like
“45k is alright John, but I have like 150k in ma pocket so it’s all good”
The greatest game ever made , still evokes emotions from me every time
Has anyone tried to lure or throw him into the fire? 5 years playing this game and I still can't bring myself to go back for the money. Believe it or not this is the first time I've even watched it. Thank you for making the video and being part of the #RDR2 RUclips community
As much as I love the ending with Arthur on the cliff watching his final Sunrise before succumbing to his TB along with his injuries and exhaustion i enjoy this ending and find it more satisfying because you get to blind Micah in one eye plus Arthur goes full on Beast mode too and went out in a Blaze of Glory
Now what if you turn around and go up the mountain after choosing this ending
You fail for abandoning the objective. I’ve never played this ending because it just seems wrong to me, but it just really seems like the game wouldn’t let you go back on your decision. Just like how you can’t bring back the people you’ve killed during the story, you can’t go back on your own choices.
I like how in the help John ending you die facing the west, like Arthur wanted. But if you go back for the money you die facing the east.

For nothing? He held Micah, Dutch and the Pinkertons back lol
Honesetly wish you could dump the money in the fire.
Then John won't get 20000
@@fajnu20that's the blackwater money
The song as Arthur was passing gave me chills.
played it a few times, never gone back for the money so first time of seeing this, thanks!
Make your own game kid, Rockstar who is better than you decided there are more options.
Technically I’ve always thought of the return for the money ending as helping John too because splitting up to get the Pinkertons off his back makes sense to help him escape.
everytime i play this game i make the same decisions idk why but i have NEVER gone back to get the money thank you sm for posting this
this ending seems to make more sense canonically. the epilogue even lines up better with it
Man, Arthur screaming HIIIIIM is killing me!! 😢
I love how it’s all quiet when he says goodbye to john besides the sounds of the nature and their voices
IDk how you could wear that outfit during this final chapter, it hurt seeing arthur so skinny
I would have dones this if it wasnt for the "My brother" line
8:51 Arthur could have kept pushing and survived but he had nothing to lose😢
That low honor sound effect when the music hits is amazingly done.
The pain in Dutch’s lets me know fully that he realizes he messed up
Something to note here is, in this ending Arthur bites Micah, which probably infected Micah with TB as well. The future of this ending would have Micah inevitably dying to TB as well.
Not how TB is transferred but one can hope
That is not how it is transferred btw. It is airborne
@@trondboi2034since arthur was pretty close micah could have gotten it still, and he probably was breathing while biting so the air would have gotten in him along with the rb. A big stretch but still a possibility
@@BraidensWorldProductions he has to inhale the bacteria
Except that doesn’t happen at all 😂 The only thing different is that Micah has only one eye. Also it’s an airborne illness which means everyone in camp would’ve been exposed but I guess rockstar kind of forgot unless Arthur’s tb wasn’t contagious somehow
Almost everyone would've chosen to go back for the money if it was instead called "Go back to kill Micah"
Not only do I think this ending is exactly what Arthur would do I also think he would use this action for 3 goals
Bro Dutch's voice when he says "stop this" is so sad he didint want neither of them to die because he cares about them and just wanted them to stop
in the end he died seeing the light of day. Not a bad way to go I say
This ending and music slaps. Severely underrated
Arthur was buried with that key, so they lost in a few different ways that morning
i played this mission with high honor and hearing the music and vocals in this was fire as hell.
Arthur took like 85 bullets when fighting those Pinkerton and was still standing up
Plot armor
He turned to scarface
You gotta love how Arthur is literally shredding his way through the Pinkertons.
I mean John is the main character in red dead 1 and that takes place years after red dead 2.
In my personal opinion, the best thing you can do is to be honorable and finish the game that way. That's when Arthur's death matters.
Im almost there. High honor. Just busted John out of prison.
Keep going buddy, you’re almost there!

@@Gojira_MinusOne untrue
@@Gojira_MinusOne me too
Idk about that version but I know in this ending you were able to kill Micah if you landed enough knife hits (which is hard to do because he always parries unlike other npcs) but if you managed to kill him the game wouldn’t progress and you’d be stuck pretty much. There’s videos showing it happen on ps4
If you take a clearly dying man to go back and get money than you’re pure greedy
Jesus that badass beat as soon as arthur walks back was perfection
0:43 they should’ve had the song triggernometry from the first red dead in this
It’s a banger
Don't like how contrived the knife fight is, Micah just materializes from somewhere on the left to tackle you. Then your guns go to wherever he came from. This ending is clearly the second option rockstar though up when they realized they needed a "Bad" choice.
Just think what would have been if arthur quickdrew and shot micah in the face lol
The same could be said about the mountain fist fight
Second its players choice
Third..i doubt theres a canon ending where the end will allways be the same...Arthur will die..

I feel so bad for Charles he just comes back to camp to find Arthur dead
Charles did the burial for Arthur.
In this ending, good Arthur wants Micah and Dutch dead. Mostly Micah. Very much Micah.
So he'll focus on making sure Micah looks bad.

Dutch massively let Arthur down after all those years a little revenge with aggression fits Arthur
I feel like this the most unrealistic ending because Arthur doesn't believe in revenge, especially with High Honor
The ending doenst make Sense, like ARTHUR said, vengeance is a fool's game
It does make sense the most. Micah popping randomly on that steep hill to get to Arthur doesn't make sense, Dutch being there even more so.
Also, it would explain Micah missing all those point blank shot in American Venom with him, missing an eye.
@@Tonius126eople seriously overestimate Micah’s accuracy.
He has ONE feet of badassness, which is the that shootout in Rhoades(can’t remember how to spell it)
In that ONE shootout he pops three guys fairly quickly, in that same time Arthur can and has killed 6.
All fanboying aside, Arthur truly was the fastest of his time, aside from maybe Landon Ricketts as we never have really seen Ricketts draw and shoot in rdr2s setting.

still manages to be heroic even if it gives you low honor
Such a odd ending, doesn’t feel as impactful imo
