This episode was CHILLING... It really proved the point "There are worse things than infected out there." The writing and performances were a little TOO good. Just wow.

18:18 "It wasn't venison. IT WASN'T VENISON!" My favorite part.
I just got to this part and I’m laughing so fucking hard at their reactions. 😂 it’s perfect
Couldn't have scripted a better reaction! 🤣 Y'all need to turn that bit into a short.
“They’re going to eat biscuit. I shouldn’t have named it biscuit” 😢
But hey... biscuit and gravy! 😢

10:11 The truly demonic laugh after the dark af "Children shouldn't speak unless spoken to" joke got me so fucking good, the vibes are always good
I died laughing at that.
I would vote for that slogan, if a politician would use it.... LOL
I was crying 😂
That was the moment I decided Haylo is my favorite person ever 😂
joke?
Y'all, "Venison, ewww, more like Benjamin!" killed me. Most entertaining reaction to this episode hands down. 21:10
That was a really good joke lol

Good afternoon girls. Fun fact: Troy Baker, the actor who played James in this Episode, is the voice actor of Joel in the Game, and did motion capture too.
I was about to comment the same thing :)
Yep. The voice actor of Marlene in the games also played Marlene in the show, tommy was perry (the crazy lady who hated Henry’s right hand man), and Ellie was Ellie’s mom
I love the synergy between you two, the blurt everything out Kiss and teh more down to earth Haylo.
The look Haylo gave when kiss said biscuit... priceless.
I really hope that you 2 are gonna play the game after the show is over.
Part 2 though, that's going to be an experience.
There's a reason everyone is terrified of Joel.
Predicting the child bride thing at 13:45 was spot on. As we later get the reveal that the preacher is a predator, the entire episode gets a different tone when you remember (or rewatch) the details. The way he looks at Ellie when they first talked, how he is from the start offering her acceptance and protection, and from the beginning planning to accept her in the group but of course not planning to accept Joel, and most disturbingly, the fact that he was a teacher, says he always had a 'violent' heart, and says with experience that 'fighting is the part he likes the most', so its basically spelled out that he was a predator teacher before the cordyceps outbreak.
And the fact that this sick fuck was actually a teacher in the old world, around children daily
Due to personal experience I knew his intentions the moment he says “I can prove it!” in the shed. Didn’t like the weird flirty tone and just knew he was going feeling her out to see if he would be able to groom her.
Yes!! Great job figuring out David's real intentions. We love your reactions.
Looking back he was most likely also interested in the girl who lost her father. She probably wasn't as interesting as Ellie to him, but his interactions with her were weird.
@@Evija3000 I think he had his eye on her until Ellie came along and he saw that violent streak and swiveled over to her instead…which is why I think he slaps her. He was already defensive of Ellie by that point. He’d made up his mind.
This is your best work! 😂
My new favorite reaction vid
Take as many breaks as you need to compose yourself.
Your fear, your outrage, your Jim Halpert glances at the camera, your nausea, your sense of humor and silliness. We’re here for it.
Fun fact: Buddy Boy James, is played by Troy Baker, who played Joel in the games. He is a truly brilliant actor who doesn't get enough recognition. The signature "Baby Girl" of Joel was an instinctual improv by him when he was putting Sarah to bed in the game. It just slipped out and Druckmann recognized it as being perfect and worked it in as the symbolic element to show when Joel bonds with Ellie.
Troy Baker. Doesn't get enough recognition. What?
He's in like every video game. If people know one voice actor it's Troy Baker.
@@dermade83 He's in a lot, but I never hear his name dropped in discussion. The one I always hear is Mathew Mercer. And if Baker had the recognition he deserved, he would have been given a bigger part than James. I would liked to seen him as Jerry (Abby's dad) so that he's briefly teased in season 1 and appears in the later seasons.
@@chuckmanion1128 Mercer is well known after Critical Role, before that I've heard his voices in many works but I didn't know his name yet. Troy Baker, however, I heard everywhere.
@@nitrokid I feel like the issue is just that voice actors aren't recognised enough in general. But when they are Troy Baker is definitely among the top known ones.
Your face when she said "I named him Biscuit !" was epic !
"I shouldn't have named it biscuit." had me dying lol
I could be a little dark and twisty for saying this, but this is one of my comfort episodes. In rewatching it, I noticed that Joel grabs Ellie’s bag when he’s out in the blizzard.
1) Such a dad move.
2) He didn’t lose hope he’d find her.
3) Holding on to physical representations of people he’s lost brings him comfort…Frank’s flannel, Bill’s coffee, he makes a rock memorial for Tess, and the watch/butterfly stickers on the wall in his room in Austin, TX/Boston, MA for Sarah. Had he been too late and Ellie was dead (he saw the bag, bodies and dead horse), he would have wanted it as it’d be the last thing he’d have of HER. 😢
4) That bag has everything Ellie owns-it’s her whole life. Being a child who’s institutionalized as she was (in FEDRA school), and then abused can be so destabilizing, and her body probably didn’t feel like her own. Having her bag back was a way to bring her back to a sense of comfort/normalcy, having something that was still HERS. Shows you how considerate and caring Joel is. BRB crying again. 😢

8:15 - This is an intramuscular injection of Penicilin. You wanna insert it and inject it directly into a large muscle as local to the infection as possible. She did an excellent job. And this type of intramuscular injection works FAST AF TOO. Also a huge advantage given these circumstances. One can argue that Ellie saved Joel's life and her own life a second time this episode by doing this so well.
David was the single most terrifying “monster” of the season.
as traumatising as it was, i'm glad you both reacted the way you did at the end. a lot of people see ellie killing david and get excited by the revenge, but they don't really think about the trauma. you both instantly went to a place of "this is going to change her for life" and you're right. this was a pivotal moment for her. glad you both had that line of thought.
“Maybe it’s from a different deer”. Oh you sweet summer children 😂
Love y'all's reactions so much. You're both so genuine and expressive. I was so excited for the notification for this episode.
Again Bella's emoting of rage and terror is impossibly unsettling and captivating.
A prodigy.
Bella is not good at warm emotions. In the game, Ellie was much kinder.
@@владимирмазепа-у3н Sounds more like a writing problem than an acting problem.
@@pyrofly942 Neil Druckmann reworked the idea for the game from Richard Wagner's opera "Parsifal" (the whole game is imbued with mythology, for example, FEDRA /The queen in love with her stepson/ is the wife of Theseus who killed the Minotaur, and Joel is from the ancient Hebrew "Yahweh is God"). According to the plot of Parsifal, this is a naive simpleton who descended into hell and returned to join evil in his naivety. Along the way, he acquires the Grail Cup (looks like the menstrual cup that Ellie received), and uses it to heal the king.
Ellie, does not match the character of Parsifal, who was kind and naive (but they tried to seduce him in hell - David in a burning hut)
@@владимирмазепа-у3н Sure thing
@@владимирмазепа-у3н bella definitely is, i think this ellie is much softer, honestly, look at how she is with sam compared to the game. you just get to spend a lot more time with ellie in the game.
"Heck them kids" is going to live rent-free in my head for the next few days
Also, Episode 1: We meet Joel
Episode 8: We MEET Joel
It's never established how many people spent their last few moments alive tied to a chair with Joel torturing them, but we know that the answer is "more than we'd be comfortable with"
Now we know what Marlene meant when she said she knew what he was capable of...
We at least know he tortured enough people that he knows he doesn't have to ask the 2nd guy anything.
And we meet the joel from the games because troy baker is in this episode❤
(10:05) - (13:19) - (14:00) - (21:11) Your sister was on a roll this episode lol
My personal favorite is the face at 14:54 😂 - Haylo
25:07 fr thought u said “oh i farted” when i wasn’t looking at the screen 😂😂
I've seen a lot of reactions to this episode especially the scene with Ellie and David. A lot of reactors cheered while she was murdering her abuser but I'm quite surprised you guys just genuinely felt bad for her because yes, that's the point of the scene. Ellie lost her innocence to David and I don't think cheering for it is quite the right emotion to feel.
p.s. this might sound nitpicky but this is not intended to be a hate comment on other reactors in general.
I love you guys together ahahaha such good back and forth. Also I have played the game 4 times and watched the show twice, and I still cry when he says babygirl. These actors are unreal < 3
I love all of the episodes but this one in particular really sticks with me. That ending scene never fails to make me feel emotional no matter how many times I've seen it. Give Bella Ramsey all the awards! But shout out to the guy that plays David I had only ever seen him in El Camino the Breaking Bad movie but wow he was amazing in this role super creepy.
Lets go! Feels like I’ve been waiting mad long for this. 1:22 the guy on the left, David’s right hand man is also the original Joel!
18:22 you two are hilarious 😂😂 the gagging makes me laugh so much haha
Thank you both for giving me the biggest laugh I've had in weeks over your response at 18:20 and 18:30 realizing that the cult is eating their friends and family! I know it sounds gross when it's spelled out like this but that really was one of the funniest things ever! Cheers!
"That girl ate her dad!" (bolts from view lol)
"venison? more like BENJAMIN" im dead lmfaooo i love this channel
Great reaction..."Venison, more like Benjamin" had me rolling. This might be the most entertaining reaction to episode 8 I've seen yet. Looking forward to final episode.
Btw the horse's name was Callus (that was its name in the game)
RUclips recommended your reaction for the episode 3. Now I'm here and you get a new subscriber. You guys have such honest reactions.
It was refreshing that everyone was waiting for Joel to save Ellie, but Ellie saved herself
I've been waiting for this reaction, very entertaining Thank you ladies.. "I shouldn't named it Biscuit had me rolling!
You two have one of the best on-camera dynamics (it’s genuine). You can probably tell by all of the comments. Just piling on to please the algorithm gods. Kudos to whoever’s editing, also.
"I shouldn't have named it Biscuit..."
I mean, thanks to that they can now have biscuit and gravy 👀
no signal when biscuit went down 😂... and that look from haylee! another great episode guys
"I named it biscuit" As you're almost crying had me in BITS hahahaha
Haylo & Kiss: "He seems nice."
Me: Uh-oh 👁👄👁
The episode really did the video game justice. Bella's performance made the lodge fire scene even more terrifying.
When I first watched I was so freaking blown away by the set design. It's just about identical to the game! Best game adoption I've ever seen.
It's really subtle but I'm sure it was intentional, but in the shot of Joel hugging Ellie after he calls her 'baby girl', his watch that Sarah gave him is visible right in the foreground. Really great reaction to a rough episode. Come on, Kiss, just one more episode. You can do it! Also, now I want biscuits (but not Biscuit).
Biscuit's name is Callus, btw and Joel actually hated that name, and to see the OG Joel killed Callus 😂
And that's the name Ellie gave it, because they forgot to ask before leaving.
As a standard practice, I now auto-like each of your videos before I watch them! Y'all never disappoint.
Great video - keep up the good work!
You guys are a riot. Some of the best if not the best reactors on RUclips.
This was hilarious! You two of you are very quick at sniffing dangers. Biscuit was great! In the game Ellie named him Callus and Joel hated that name. Ironic the actor who played Joel in the game, James aka Buddy Boy, was the one who shot Biscuit. Ashleigh Burton named him Pepperoni while she was playing game on Twitch, and oh the jokes came pouring in! Love your channel. You are one of my highlights for Fridays.
you guys are literally my favorite reactors thank u sm besties fr 🙏
In fact Biscuit is called Callus but great name 😂
This was an intense one for sure. Bella's acting was once again beyond amazing. If I recall correctly they did the scene at the end, where she was still panicking as Joel found her, BEFORE the worked on the scene in the diner where she kills the guy. So she didn't have that scene to draw emotion from yet when she did the ending.
A part that stood out to me as a call back to episode 3 with Bill and Frank, was this evil and twisted guy here says "There is no fear in love", while the episode with pure love had Bill say to Frank "I wasn't afraid until I met you." Real love of any kind isn't about power, it lets you feel willing to be vulnerable with someone, to open up. Thats not fearless, its courage and you can't have courage without some fear.
"What is he a ginger?!" Five minutes later..."I need water and maybe some GINGER ale." You slay me.
These has been the best reaction to this episode I've seen. You guys are amazing, and so freaking funny. I like how calm and collected Haley is and doesn't flinch at the more disturbing parts. Kudos to Bellas performance in this episode and David's actor as well!! He played the perfect creep!.
"I named it Biscuit 😭"
*cut to Hailey doing her best Jim Halpert impression*

Thanks!
22:40 The guy who gets stabbed, is played by Troy Baker, the man who played Joel in the video game which this show is based on. It's so cool that they added these people in the live action version as well. :D
1:15 this part of the show actually takes place in Colorado, and as a Coloradan.. can confirm that it is awful in the winter, especially in the East where they're at.
How are your reactions so wholesome and addicting! I find myself checking the channel every 1-2 days for a fix!
Speaking of the looks we occasionally get from Haylo.. If anyone watched their reaction to The Last of Us 1x01, when Joel is introduced (Pedro) Kiss got extremely excited and said "Yass Daddy" and Haylos face: priceless :D
Ty for another awesome reaction girls
i wait every week for these, i go get some food sit my ass down and enjoy while i eat hahaha
"What town?!" Joel asked so calmly.
Man im sorry you guys had to watch that 😢 you guys are so amazing just for being able to keep it light and funny throughout such a heavy episode though 😅 kiss really had me cracking up during this whole episode lol another great one guys thank you ❤
Hahaha, I was laughing alot about this reaction video, you are so funny!
at 17:30 the guy being interrogated beats Joel’s usual test by touching the knife soaked in his blood to the map, leaving a spot his friend can easily identify. Joel knows he’ll get nothing more out of them and moves on the spot quickly as its his only play. They can’t be left as a threat to him in their living state.
James from the cult group is the original Joel's Voice actor in the game . Love your channel
You both had me laughing so hard...literally dying hahaha
lmao you two were so out of control on this one, I love it ❤️
Howdy from Texas. I’ve watched a dozen reactions to TLOU but y’all are the best!!
This was one of, if not the best, reaction video I’ve ever seen from anyone.
This episode is so tense and traumatic and you guys had me laughing so much.
A lot of other people have already told you what I was going to tell you regarding James/Game Joel, Callus, etc.
This episode was very faithful to the game, probably more than any episode thus far.
As always, y’all are so quick to catch on to things other reactors don’t until later or miss altogether.
Haley, you were so good about the first needle but then you got a little evil with the second needle. Kiss caught on though. Loved the side-eye towards your sister Kiss!
Just a fantastic reaction. So good I’m gonna watch it again. 😂
Keep it up ladies, you guys are awesome!
First off-I love you both so much and how open and comfortable you are with your emotions. It makes me so happy. Your reactions bring me so much joy!
TW: SA…
Loved how we finally saw a glimpse of how dangerous and vicious Joel once was. It all comes out when he knows his little girl is missing…he violently killed Mrs. Alder’s mom in Ep 1 to save Sarah too. Moral of the story: Joel’s love language is protection, whatever that costs, and love can bring out the best and worst of us.
My heart broke when Ellie killed David-you can tell she’s taking out all of her pent-up trauma, grief, anger and pain onto him. He preyed on her worst fear, which is ending up alone. So when she leaves the building, she probably thinks she’s alone until Joel shows up to remind her she’s not. I think this is the first time we’re reminded, as an audience, that at the end of the day, Ellie may be wise beyond her years, sassy and strong, but she’s still a little kid (14 but still), who’s gone through an unimaginable trauma of being violated and needs comfort in this moment.
Bella’s portrayal of Ellie’s trauma response (the screaming, blank stare, panic, mumbling incoherently) was so raw and real. I think we could all use a big bear hug from Pedro Pascal when we’re sad/scared. 🐻❤️🩹-the way he delivered the line “Hey, look, it’s me.” was so gentle and soothing. Joel doesn’t save Ellie physically, but he saves her emotionally in that moment.
I’ve watched a lot of reactions from therapists and people who’ve experienced SA who say that the way Joel comforted her was such a great example of the way you should be with someone who’s been traumatized: he doesn’t ask her what happened (talking about it can be re-traumatizing), he just holds and rocks her, tells her she’s safe, and then bundles her up in his coat to help get her warm. Juxtaposed to one of the first things David (who views himself as a father to his group) does to Ellie when he takes her is strip her of her hat and coat-shows you what a true dad would do.
I hope Pedro, Bella, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckman know how cathartic and healing that final scene was for many people, and I applaud them for handling such heavy, disturbing topics with such care. ❤
Couldn't agree with you more, Well put.
You had me at "More like BENJAMIN!" lmao
I fucking love how hilarious you two are. I laughed out loud several times this episode.
I have been waiting for this episooodes' reaction! Just FYI the actor who plays James is Troy Baker who actually plays Joel in the video games :D :D

quick reminder that pre apocalypse david was a school teacher... working with kids...
also by his own admission he's always been violent... and the fighting is the part he likes best...
I have watched this episode at least 3 times with you all and laughed so much.... brilliant work young ladies.... "more like Benjiman"... damn hilarious!!
Ok this reaction has SO many quotable moments!Thats it, y’all are my fave!!
This episode is an allegory for satan and jesus. The three temptations while he's alone from his "father" without food in the desert, tempted with food, then power, etc. Right down to David surrounded by the fire of hell at the end when he totally pulls the mask off and not even seeming to notice or care. Neil Druckmann alluded to this all, it's pretty interesting as he's Jewish and really into allegorical storytelling. I mean, you even get david basically referring to himself as a false god and father, feeding the foesh of man to his "sheep" like sn antichrist sacrament. It goes pretty deep once you think about it. I'm not Christian but i find it fascinating.
"The fighting is the part I like the most" implied that this is not his first time doing it.
Now remember he was a teacher...
18:20 Someone NEEDS to clip this for the best reaction highlight ever.
"That girl ate her dad!"
I just finished The Last Of Us for the 1st time and looked for reactions. In trying to find Spartan and Pudgey's reactions, I saw you two beauties and loved each one. You have no other shows I've watched, but if you ever start Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Stranger Things, or any movie I've ever seen- I'll be back.
