This, honestly was a masterpiece reaction by you two, to a masterpiece episode. Long, Long, Time is perhaps my favorite episode of anything anywhere. I think my favorite moment of yours was the shift in both of your expressions when Bill started singing. Music is emotion made manifest into the air, and you guys connected to it immediately. The actors and writers were the apotheosis of S tier for sure. Making us have feel like we experience a whole season with these two new characters and seeing their life together, all while in a single episode. --Joel, against his own will, is showing some father instincts towards Ellie. He doesn't want to though, he doesn't want to open that bottle of repressed trauma feelings. --Note that Ellie, who almost never actually follows Joel's instructions, stayed in the chair when Joel told her to while he went outside to process Bill and Franks deaths. --There are theories suggesting Frank was an EMT or some other responder before the fall. Evidence being how he didn't panic, kept Bill talking, and knew to disinfect his hand and the wound after Bill was shot. --Bill getting shot seems out of place because he is such a tactical well planned thinker. Why even be that far out in the open while shooting and making yourself a target? Because that is what his goal was. To keep attention on him and far away from where Frank was. --Bill taught Frank how to survive, Frank taught Bill how to live. --This is the biggest deviation from the game in the series. In the game we actually meet up with Bill, except he is cold and bitter. It is suggested he was never able to fully open up to Frank (their relationship wasn't explicitly stated but it was hinted) and Frank eventually had had enough and left. Only for us to find him later, dead by hanging himself, due to having got bit. he left a note saying "Screw you Bill". Both versions utilize the same narrative purpose of chipping away at Joel's emotional walls, they just take different routes to get there. ----Game version shows Joel what he will become if he keeps himself closed off. ----Show version shows Joel what can have if he lets himself open up again.
Oh very good points!! As I stated in a comment out on the regular thread I believe that Bill was quite possibly in the closet before the outbreak!! I imagine that the prepper community and the community that would have the kind of arsenal that bill has are also people that do not look fondly upon the gay lifestyle!! I imagine that Bill has perhaps never had an actual physical gay relationship before Frank showed up!!
@@bernardsalvatore1929 Oh definitely, I believe he even told Frank while in the bed that he'd only done stuff once before, with a girl a long time ago. Plus with the world ending in 2003, gay marriage wasn't even legalized yet, so neither of them got to see that victory in their world. As tragic as their deaths were for us, they perhaps got the best ending anyone could likely ask for in this world. They grew old together and lived in relative peace with art, food, hot water, and autonomy. And went out in a way of their choosing. Without therapists in that world, I can easily understand Bill not wanting to go back to being alone again.
Everyone needs to read this comment! It's such a perfect episode for me, everything was so thought out. Even the radio at the ending of ep1 ties into ep3- the creators cared so much about all the details in this show.
The original director's cut of this episode was 2 hours, and Craig Mazin said "I cried so hard; it hurt.", and he ended up cutting it down to this length. Hoping they release the 2 hour version someday.
Last Of Us co-creator Craig Mazin stated during the podcast for the show "We didn’t necessarily want to specify what frank had for the audience, it was either MS or early ALS but it was a degenerative neuromuscular disorder," said Mazin.
Also, one of the more beautiful parallels of this episode is how when we first meet Bill. He's this "survive at all costs" person who has a panic basement under his house. He then goes on to take his own life with his soulmate, because he was satisfied with his life.
“I used to hate the world, and I was happy when everyone died. But I was wrong-there was one person worth saving. So that’s what I did: I saved him, then I protected him.” I love how through Bill, Joel learns that it’s okay to open yourself up to love and being loved by someone else again. For Bill, his person is Frank, for Joel, his person is Ellie. I also love how in small little ways, we can already see that conscious or not, Joel’s fatherly instincts have already kicked in: he is angry with Ellie but still gives her his jacket to keep her warm in the woods, he makes sure she’s eating, he doesn’t want her to see the skeletons, and he helps her buckle her seatbelt. Once you’re a parent, you never STOP being a parent. It’s just so wholesome and pure! 🥹🥰 Keep up the great reactions-you’re both amazing! You guys brighten my days with your content!
You guys are enthusiastic, giving thoughts but still paying attention and not missing things (so many people talk over key moments and get lost), and you feel the emotions the show wants you to feel really strongly! Really great reactions. You’re gonna blow up!
The shot of him looking down through the mesh wire before was him prepping the cover for the hole. He doubtlessly put sod over it to hide its location.
That’s weird because this episode ruined the entire show. With or without this episode changed nothing as far as the show’s concerned. Simple liberal ploy to push the gay agenda. The ending was great tho. In the end, AIDS did it’s job…🖕🏻🇺🇸👍🏻

Lmao I can't imagine being so nonchalant about freaking earthquake injuries, suddenly I'm thankful about living on the middle of a tectonic plate lol. Wish a speedy recovery for Kiss, that must've been scary. Btw, you two are genuinely the most entertaining reactors I've ever seen, you're gonna shoot up in subscribers in no time!
Haylo is really good- she has good insight and is thoughtful. She is one of the few reactors who picked up that Joel stacking stones (at the beginning of the episode) was a memorial for Tess. I get emotional every time I view this episode- great writing and acting. Hope that Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett get nominated for awards.
With the infected in the beginning. I thought they were trying to illustrate the fact that Ellie has no more fear of infection. The number one way everyone dies is never going to happen to her for any reason. I also think she was reaffirming to herself that there’s nothing human left in them anymore. It didn’t look like it felt pain when she cut it and it’s eyes were just following the knife because the light was bouncing off of it.
I didn't give this show permission to ruin me. I signed up for a zombie horror and instead got the most beautiful hour long love story in TV history. Then we had to work the next day!
Keep watching! Don't give up! Yes, there is more sadness ahead. But it's worth it. It's an incredible series from start to finish. I'm obsessed. I'm still watching this stuff 4 months later!
"It almost got me" *episode* "and I took that personally" lol seriously this episode is some of the finest writing, acting, everything... this is why the art exists. They did a masterful job diverting from the game for this. In the game, Bill is alive and bitter and resentful. Frank got infected and didn't tell Bill. He ended his own life and it broke Bill, leaving him angry. That becomes a kind of dark "what if" shadow of what could have happened. This becomes the story arc that Frank and Bill could have, should have had. A hope that love can be found, lived, celebrated, and honored, even in death. They won. They beat the apocalypse. Their humanity survived through it all.
That was a cool reaction, I love the way you bounce off of each other. This episode is so well done, as a gamer it felt like a perfect adaption from game to screen. It gave me insights I didn't know I wanted and I really hope everyone gets proper recognition for it. We get so much mid content pumped into our eyeballs on the daily. Seeing you two get emotional at Frank playing the piano made me worry for you, knowing what was to come. This episode is up there with some of my all time favourite episodes of TV. Game of Thrones, Mandolorian and Midnight Mass have my other favourites but I wont tell you what episodes, just in case you haven't seen them. Great reaction guys. I look forward to seeing more from you. I hope ur chin is healing well, Kiss. ;)
A beautiful episode written and acted magnificently. to get two characters to be loved and emotionally connected to the audience is a testament to the show. Obviously we all love Joe and Elie and action and adventure but this illustrates good story telling is always the winner in the end!!!
Love how you just let yourselves feel what the episode gives you! Emotion is what makes these reactions so good and truthful. Also just how naturally funny and charismatic you both are! Love your content :)
I know you guys are young, but in my 49 yrs of consuming media this is a top 3 all time episode for TV (alongside the pilot of Lost and Game of Thrones' Red Wedding). LOVE your reaction ! Bill's giggle when he eats a strawberry kills me every time. It would be lovely if you took a few mins just to talk about how you felt about the episode afterwards !
I've been in earthquakes in the Bay Area and Mexico City but I missed the big one in Mexico City in 1985 by 2 months and the big one in the Bay Area in 1989 a year before attending college. It's amazing to feel everything around you that should be solid turn into jiggling Jell-O. Glad you got out lightly with so much glass around.
Some of the best storytelling I’ve ever seen. This show is a writing masterclass. We all felt everything you guys did! All in like only 40 mins of television. Amazing
I can't wait for your reaction to episode 5 and the finale! I love how both of you respected the emotional scenes: never belittled them, or made inappropriate jokes for the sake of levity--unlike other very popular reactors on RUclips. Good job, girls. Please post the next episode tomorrow hehehehehe
Such a great episode, I'm enjoying you ladies reacting. I've finished the game multiple times, and I loved the show. It's funny, there were a ton of people posting their crying reactions to this episode and the shows' creators were like, this was supposed to be the happy episode haha. I mean, I absolutely cried, and it is heartbreaking, but, it's really a beautiful story. and considering how most people live and lose their lives in this world, it is pretty happy :D
One of my favorite things about Joel is he shows some of the truest signs about being a real man. Being able to recognize his mistakes and admitting to them, and realizing he has done wrong. It took him a long, awful road to get there but he eventually did.
Man, my reaction to several key scenes and the entire episode itself was very similar to yours. I thought it was cute, it moved me; the direction, the soundtrack, the script, really.. this series is a very faithful adaptation!
Big hole is covered by grass or leaves so it's camouflaged. Can't distinguish the booby trap at all. It's not just an open hole. Saw somebody else ask how Frank ended up in a hole, so I figured I'd clarify that he isn't just an idiot for ending up trapped.
Great reaction to a great episode. You guys have great emotional intelligence and you pick up on a lot of good details. Glad to take this journey again with you two!
*BUMMER ALERT* I'm so glad found this channel. My sister in law used to say. "When I was a little girl I would cry all the time because I always wanted a sister, but now I know I just had to wait!" She was my best friend. She's been gone for two years now, and it's been hard. I'm starting to get older. I'm getting fine lines from laughter over jokes that she never got to hear. I'm becoming a person she never got to meet. Grief hits me when I hear celebrity gossip about people she loved that I had never heard of. I used to remember those things so I could tell her about them, hoping to be able to see her blind reaction, because they were always the best. Grief hits when I watch shows I know she would have loved. She would have LOVED this episode. I wish I could have watched it with her. I might not have gotten the chance to see her reaction, but I know she would have reacted exactly like the sister on the left, and I would have reacted exactly like the sister on the right. She would have teared up at the exact same moments. Her hand would have covered her mouth at the time time. She would have burst into laughter over the same moments. She would have asked me to hold her hand when Frank tells Bill that it's his last day. I might not have gotten to watch this with you, Jess, but for 36 minutes, I got to have a sister's night with you again.
Another great reaction, I'm already addicted to your channel! This is easily one of the best episodes of a show I've ever watched in my life. You guys are great, I'm gonna try to get my wife hooked on your channel too, lol.
I know this was well over a year ago nearly two, but the fact that you had the bar's cameras catch the earthquake was nuts! Glad you're okay and by now you're fully healed lol
Bro, the part: “Its a boy!” and the way you were noticing it and the facial expressions made me laugh a lot. Your reactions to the episodes of the series are very good!
"Older means we're still here." These two guys came of age in the AIDS pandemic, then lived through a Class 2 apocalypse with the cordyceps pandemic. Every day they survive is an achievement to be proud of.
As a Gay man who has been in a committed marriage for 10 years this episode was hard to watch for 2 reasons…. 1. because of all the hate this episode received but secondly because it hit close to home and got me scared of what I would do if I lost my partner, my best friend. I loved your reaction and your reaction had me crying my eyes out. Thank you Ladies for understanding what Love is despite what others try to portray about Gay men.
I am sorry for your experience. I think you might find that the episode got as much love, if not way more love, than hate. Its just that the hate is louder, and our modern filters (media) focuses on the negative in a big way. I'm not even slightly gay, I absolutely HATE woke culture. But this episode was sublime. There was (in my eyes) no political message. Gay relationships was not touted as being better than "normal" relationships....it was just....A....relationship. And it was beautiful. That is the way forward I think. You dont need the political drama. Just show it like it is. Love will prevail because it looks the same for everyone.
This received hate? Well, for sure because of its topics, but i wouldnt say it was universally hated. Im straight like an arrow and not in any way affiliated with any woke groups or whatever, but this episode just broke my heart and i love it for what it is. Im a fan of the game. This deviates FAR from the game, and i still ship the episode. This is just exceptional film making and a beautiful lovestory. I dont care whom loves who. If its real, its real.
@@RoxxSerm Yes there were the typical culture war homophobes who came out and trashed the episode. If you look at the episode ratings it is the lowest rated episode when in actuality it was probably the best or one of the best episodes of the season. I didn't say it was universally hated but it was definitely trolled hard.
I'm genuinely ignorant here, this episode received hate?? HOW??? Granted, I am not from the US so maybe there's more polarization over there but I gotta say, this is one of the best episodes ever made. Any show or genre. Just read the other comments about the hate and I see now. Culture war homophobes are the absolute worst tbh. Like, get over it already lol.
I watch a few reactors channels. The best by far are the ones who really feel what they're watching. You guys are great, and have gone to my joint favourites with Cassie and Carly from PiB. Keep up the good work.
I've always appreciated TLOU because it felt like the infected were second to the actual story. It's a story about family, friends and loved ones, and the infected just happen to be an additional obstacle.
To the "why is she doing that" with the zombie in the wall, you're partly right. Also though, she's unimaginablly sheltered, grew up raised in a military school, having never left roughly the downtown Boston area. She had never seen an infected at all before, let alone up close. So ya, she's weird by any standard, but who wouldn't be, lol. "Do they bleed like me" maybe one might ask, or do they feel pain? Mark my words, in spite of the fantastic job the actor does showing her kinda weird, curious, macabre side, Ellie will grow on you!
You two are epic. You have a new sub. So crazy how no reactors I have seen so far really mention the door the house closing by itself when Joel is at the bedroom door. To me that seems as if Bill and Frank's spirits left their home, knowing that Joel and Ellie were safely there. ❤
11:48 It wasn't a giant hole until he walked on top of one of his traps! That's what he was doing at 10:03 , and you commented on that! Just sayin' !!! Loved your reaction............xx
13:02 out of all the reactions ive seen i dont recall anyone else noticed him doing that. nice catch! 😃 its a subtle look that i really felt was a breaking the forth wall moment.
Yes, it was totally a memorial. Celtic & Norse cultures used/use rock stacks for memorial and spiritual purposes. I've heard that some First Nation tribes did/do as well, but I don't know any specifics on that.
Just a fun fact, in the original game, Bill and Frank's story was wayyyyy more tragic. They ended on bad terms, and Frank killed himself whilst Bill continues living.
as apocalypse lives and deaths go, bill and frank got pretty good ones, survived the shit, found love, had a good like 16 years together, went out together on their own terms and satisfied with their lot. certainly beats being killed by raiders or fedra, or being ripped apart by infected, or bitten and becomming one
Btw i think the 80s song that starts playing at the end of episode 1 must be the start of the Playlist which starts automatically if not reset so it's great detail that basically bill & frank die in shows time line just few days before tess Joel & Ellie leave their apartment. &that's why when they reach the house all trees are dying. Also that 80s song was an hint that something bad gonna happen in next episode. Loved the little ester egg the mask as in game you have to wear a mask (9:10)as spores spread the virus not just bites. God this show was masterpiece just like the 2 games.
LOVE y'all's reactions and bravery putting yourself through this series. The answer is yes, pretty much every episode will do this to you. Brace yourselves.
Love your reaction to this! I’m gonna have to go back and watch your reactions to the first two episodes and I can’t wait to see how you react to the rest of the series
Honestly my favorite reactions to this episode are anyone who says “is that Ron Swanson!?” when Nick Offerman takes that mask off. They realize how perfect he is for this role and how special this performance is
Well, I don't know about EVERY episode, but keeping tissues nearby is probably a good plan. Great reaction to a great episode. And, where did that earthquake happen in California? I'm guessing up north but I don't remember one happening down here in LA anytime recently.
You girls have great chemistry, are funny, smart, and impressively wise (loved the fact you pointed out how much we take simple things for granted nowadays), stay like you are, for a starting channel, you definitely will go far, if that's what you're aiming for.
"Hope there's nothing bad down there." Just Ellie.😂 Frank climbs up out of the hole like "Bugs Bunny" to Bill's "Elmer Fudd". I wouldn't have been surprised if Frank said, "What's up doc?" "Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?" I'm a 70 yr old married gay man, Ron & I have been a couple for 34 yrs and I just love the representation this beautiful & poignant episode brings forth of middle-aged to senior gay couples. 🥰👨❤👨🌈 Thanks for your sweet and positive reactions.
Important to note, marriage equality wasn't legalized in Massachusetts until 2004. So, at no point in either of their lives could their relationship have been recognized as a fully legal union. Thus, making their decision to get married that much more important.
A Masterpiece bit of Writing, Acting and Directing. Loved the Reaction! I Never in My Wildest Dreams thought We would see Such a Love Story in a Post Apocalyptic Show. Amazing!

also... "I don't know if I can keep watching this if its just going to be crying every episode" was exactly my thoughts after watching this one!
Craig and Neil did poetry. The impeccable cast. keep going girls
Some of the best storytelling I’ve ever seen. This show is a writing masterclass. We all felt everything you guys did! All in like only 40 mins of television. Amazing
The final scene with the window and the drapes moving in the breeze is the menu screen in the game
44 years old swm. And this is probably the most beautiful episode of television I remember ever seeing.
Great reaction you two.
Even though you may cry every episode, you'll still be addicted to it.
Man, my reaction to several key scenes and the entire episode itself was very similar to yours. I thought it was cute, it moved me; the direction, the soundtrack, the script, really.. this series is a very faithful adaptation!
So glad to have found your channel with this series. Your reactions are so endearing.
You know this episode will probably be up for an Emmy nomination, Plus the series.
Now this... This is some genuine heartfelt reaction.
Awesome video, girls!
Great music in this episode! Fleetwood Mac followed by Cream, can't beat it!
The funny thing is the first time I saw this episode I cried at the end. Now I cry when Bill starts singing.
The hole was covered. You can see him covering it with camo netting with grass and leaves on top in the little montage.
That little “I can’t handle this” dance killed me😂
Haylo's smile lights up her entire face, so beautiful to witness.
Big hole is covered by grass or leaves so it's camouflaged. Can't distinguish the booby trap at all. It's not just an open hole. Saw somebody else ask how Frank ended up in a hole, so I figured I'd clarify that he isn't just an idiot for ending up trapped.
I wouldve fallen in regardless lolll
Great reaction to a great episode. You guys have great emotional intelligence and you pick up on a lot of good details. Glad to take this journey again with you two!
I had the exact same reaction when Frank first showed up. Immediate distrust right up until they kissed , and then I still didn't trust him haha.
*BUMMER ALERT*
I'm so glad found this channel.
4:50 "A little bit of revenge or something?"
"Yeah, some sort of resentment built up..."
Nice catch on this detail, both of you!
28:35 In the nature of daylight is a great song. First heard it at the beginning of Arrival.
This episode was amazing, and your reactions were wonderful.
Please continue!
@@Kaspisify yeah here in Germany it was overall super praised by the audience and critics. Dunno what that says about us but that's the case.
Another great reaction. I've watched a lot of reactions to TLOU and you two are very good. Looking forward to the next one.
That moment you realize Frank decided he was ready to die when he could no longer paint Bill.
That intro with the bandaid was too good and it made me realize i need to watch your reaction to the full series. Not just ep3.
This was a wow episode and will go down as one of theee best tv episodes ever in any show...
Love your reaction, all the "awww" moments xd
To the "why is she doing that" with the zombie in the wall, you're partly right. Also though, she's unimaginablly sheltered, grew up raised in a military school, having never left roughly the downtown Boston area. She had never seen an infected at all before, let alone up close. So ya, she's weird by any standard, but who wouldn't be, lol. "Do they bleed like me" maybe one might ask, or do they feel pain? Mark my words, in spite of the fantastic job the actor does showing her kinda weird, curious, macabre side, Ellie will grow on you!
and this was the short version, there's a 2 hour version that's supposedly even more heartbreaking
You two are epic. You have a new sub. So crazy how no reactors I have seen so far really mention the door the house closing by itself when Joel is at the bedroom door. To me that seems as if Bill and Frank's spirits left their home, knowing that Joel and Ellie were safely there. ❤
I never thought about that idea, but I love it!
I onsider it as basically closing the door on joel's relationship with bill and frank, literally.
@@ISavant that too
11:48 It wasn't a giant hole until he walked on top of one of his traps!
You just watched a masterpiece of an episode. Its gonna win awards for sure! nick offerman was brilliant!
Tess is Anna Torv who also played Olivia Dunham, lead in Fringe one of the best Scifi series.
what an absolute masterpiece of television. easily in my top 5 television episodes of all time, hands down.
as apocalypse lives and deaths go, bill and frank got pretty good ones, survived the shit, found love, had a good like 16 years together, went out together on their own terms and satisfied with their lot. certainly beats being killed by raiders or fedra, or being ripped apart by infected, or bitten and becomming one
The "Nudist Gun Thief" comment had me rolling on the floor!
“He's so handsome” Man I laughed a lot because I wasn't the only one who thought it LOL
The most beautiful love story I've ever seen on screen.
I mean this is 10/10 television, no one can deny it
Love your reaction to this!
Definitely start doing some movie reactions. You girls are great 👍🏼
"Hope there's nothing bad down there." Just Ellie.😂 Frank climbs up out of the hole like "Bugs Bunny" to Bill's "Elmer Fudd".
Sorry you got hurt, Kiss. Feel better!
... and it's a very nice Band-Aid!
I liked the way you said “Don’t make fun of my Band Aid” and the other girl had a big grin on her face lol
The whole season is definitely heavy but totally worth seeing through! It’s so good
Important to note, marriage equality wasn't legalized in Massachusetts until 2004. So, at no point in either of their lives could their relationship have been recognized as a fully legal union. Thus, making their decision to get married that much more important.
I'm only in 3 minutes and 42 seconds and I'm amazed at your reaction of the tampon find she actually said " that's like gold" No pos Wow
A Masterpiece bit of Writing, Acting and Directing. Loved the Reaction! I Never in My Wildest Dreams thought We would see Such a Love Story in a Post Apocalyptic Show. Amazing!
congrats you guys are getting them premium adds.. i just had a coca cola and an amazon ad while watching your reaction. hope your channel keeps growing
Watching this over with you 2 has been so much fun, you 2 are perfect together and pure enjoyment to watch, such beautiful women. This show is a roller coaster of emotions, so well written and acted, that just keeps getting better and better. So glad there's 6 more episodes that I get to watch ya'll react to, cuz I am hooked on you two. Kiss, you are stunning, so amazing in so many ways, but Haylo, my gosh, you are the definition of beauty and class, they don't make too many like you. Can't wait till the next one.
I love her barking at Pedro Pascal haha
That was the most dramatic reason for having a bandaid I have heard yet.
We don't get earthquakes here in London though.
This episode, and Ron Swanson absolutely deserve an Emmy!
You girls are amazing. Really enjoying these.
