Same. In so many instances where you see someone react to something traumatic in movies or TV, its so exaggerated. I've seen peoples initial reaction to some pretty sudden and horrible things before and its truly exactly like this. Its a sound made from a place of shock and fright. Its like when someone jump scares you. When it happens you don't have time to consider how to react, its just an instinctual reflex. I'm not sure if that reaction was hers alone or if she was coached to do it that way, but it stood out to me as the most genuine reaction I've ever seen of something that someone hopefully never has to witness.

And when Joel watches Ellie and Sam play soccer, there’s a split second where he glances at his watch…he’s remembering Sarah because she used to play soccer too. 😢❤️ And the cry/whimper/scream that Ellie let out when she watched Henry unalive himself was so real-Bella is such a good actor! Also-it’s interesting that Joel taking the time to bury Henry and Sam is a direct contrast to how he numbly just threw that dead child into the fire in episode 1…it’s showing how their deaths have affected both Ellie and Joel. A painful episode, but one that’s important for the progression of their journey.
I would add that Elie's attitude at the end is more about the fact that her blood didn't heal Sam, she felt useless, so she want to get to the place where they'll make a cure. That is why she wrote ''sorry'' on his grave.

Hey you two! I've been a huge fan of TLOU for almost 10 years now and really like your reaction videos to the show! Keep up the good work. :) The actor who plays Sam is Keivonn Woodard and he is actually deaf in real life. I think he did an extremely good job! As did Henry's actor, Lamar Johnson, of course! I look forward to the next episodes with you. Stay as you are! :)
Amazing portrayal of sam and henry.. know its hard to watch but the payoff is worth all the heartbreaking moment's thus far.. So please keep going... Endure & survive ❤
it's only implied in the show, but it's stated in the game that the infection progresses over time when the person isn't killed or disturbed, from nearly human to increasingly fungal like clickers, and then presumably on to the big guy, and who knows what else? so since the KC military drove all th infected underground a long time ago, they ALL became clickers. which is terrifying given how hard it was to handle 2 or 3.
I’ve seen this episode probably like 6 times now through different reaction channels and I never would’ve noticed the limp if you didn’t post it out. No one picks up on that, that’s insane
20:00 When Henry and Sam ran out from cover then came back, that was a nod to the game when the AI would make NPCs do something stupid like that. It happened a lot in the game. The sniper wasn't the doctor. Kathleen killed the doctor in the last episode.
@@calebd.5005 I agree with Caleb here though this is definitely the most difficult episode the emotional roller coaster that the average viewer has is all over the charts. Shock, Fear, Love, Friendship, Anger, Sympathy, Hate, Fear (again), Shock (again). This show is very emotional and many processes of emotions to come.
25:08 In case you’re wondering, that big guy is called a Bloater. That’s what happens to victims who’ve been infected for a very, very long time. Its body is like plated armour and they’re incredibly strong.
They are strong because Fungi cell walls are composed of Chitin The same stuff that makes up crab and lobster shells Chitin is SO strong that Engineers at the University of Houston are using Chitin and 3D printing techniques to produce high-impact multilayered coatings that can protect soldiers against bullets, lasers, toxic gas and other dangers.
[Bloater has entered chat] Kiss: "What... is... THAT!" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- lol "Endure And Survive" could have easily been named "How far Would I go?". Every episode is a testament to love in some way, and in this one Henry revealed how far he would go (good or bad) to keep his brother safe, Kathleen revealed how far she would go to avenge the death of her brother, and each shows us how blurry and volatile the moral line is when it comes to our loved ones. I love the distinction though between Henry being self aware enough to know and feel the price he paid to save Sam, vs Kathleen, who had no notion that investing (sacrificing) everything to kill Henry and Sam was wrong in the slightest (she even accuses Henry of that very thing). She let tunnel vision take hold, while Henry had thought it out and made a hard call. This all puts a spotlight on Joel and his dedication to family. That even though he feels no hope for the world at all, he keeps going to protect family. To keep his promise to Tess, and find his brother Tommy. He's taking this girl, a living representation of everything he lost 20 years ago and likely the biggest trauma trigger in the world, across the dangerous country for Tess and Tommy. He's killed people again for these goals, which we know is something he doesn't like but is willing to do to protect family. Which way will he lean as the story goes on? Self aware like Henry (like him we know Joel is inherently a good person)? Or dissociate (like we know he is his trauma response has become) and have tunnel vision like Kathleen? As for the horde of infected, my best guess is that when FEDRA "cleared" the tunnels a few years back, they really just pushed them all back to a specific section of the tunnels and sealed it off. Infected go through stages as the fungi take over more and more of the body (devouring the host from within and replacing the host's tissue with its own). Assuming it doesn't burn through a host too fast and become a mural (like the one Tess gasped at in episode 1), you have Runners and Lurkers, Clickers, and now Bloaters. More fungal tissue means harder to kill and more powerful in general. The Bloater is probably the oldest infected in those tunnels (maybe even one of the 20 year olds) while most of the others were in some stage of becoming Clickers. Now that they are loose, that city is toast. Toast garnished with mushrooms. Awesome reactions, I love seeing people jump when the horde comes out of the hole lol, but that ending is always hard. I cry every. single. time.
Btw the right hand man of Kathleen is actually the mocap & voice actor of Tommy in the game. (Infact there are 4 voice actors from the games that are in this show) Also the endure & survive is actually a short comic books series(written by Neil Druckman writer of the games & show) that you can find hidden in plain sight throughout the game. Also loved the yellow railing when they enter the tunnel. In the game you follow anything that's yellow to find where you have to go because it's kinda difficult sometimes. Also don't forget the ending of this episode btw how Joel was looking at their grave thinking. Saddest scene ever was seeing sam sit there slowly turning into infected but still his consciousness is inside but because sam was deaf he didn't attack anyone until Ellie actually touched him so sad to see that also he probably was alive inside & attacking the person he was looking up to. Also to answer your question no. Not all were clickers as Ellie says the ones with musroom like exploded head are clickers. There are 6 stages we have 4 of them in season 1. 1st stage is just runners which are fast & mostly human like (we saw in ep1) 2nd stage is stalker (we will see in future episode) as name suggests they are silent & are very difficult to hear when they are coming for you. 3rd stage is clickers (atleast after 5yrs od being infected the infection spreads through their heads & eyes don't exist anymore hence they click & use echolocation instead. 4th stage is bloater (which we saw that huge guy in this episode that's like 10+yrs being infected. (Ellie also asks this to tess & Joel in ep2 beginning) 5th stage is shambler probably will see in season 3 & 6th stage is the Rat King mostly will be season 4.
It's amazing how the series puts us in dilemmas and situations without a definitive answer, and also subverts our certainties in a few minutes. As you said, it's not black and white, there's a whole gray area of variables. It's brilliant how Joel in the hotel tells Henry that Endure and survival are redundant and mean the same thing, considering that's what Joel has done his whole life, endured the pain of loss and fights to survive on a daily basis. But seconds later the series shows through the death of Sam and Henry that Endure and survive are not the same things, because Sam didn't survive, and Henry didn't endure.
Having played the games in all its multi release version .... this one still hurts! 😢 Nothing can prepare you! And tht final 'I am sorry' is an inwards look of Ellie you dont experience in the game!

@@HayloAndKiss As the French would say, "F**k yeah! Escargot!" Lol. Can't wait! Just a friendly heads up, there are two versions of the first game, the OG and the remake. Both tell the same classic story, but the remake is sipping whiskey clean while smoking a cigar next to a fireplace while recounting the tale. Lol. Cheers ya'll.
Fight the infected but fear the living. You have now met a Bloater It doesn't matter how long the series has finished, this episode will always hurt the heart. Take care, H&K
The big infected guy is called a "Bloater" in case you didn't already find out. In the game, he is the toughest infected to kill, and throws spore bombs at you that weaken you over time until you die, or he rips your head in two if he grabs you. It takes Molotov cocktails and nail bombs to kill him, as well as a flamethrower.
This episode hit me hard.. and i played and beat both games and it still didn't prepare me for this emotional breakdown. Great writing and great reaction ladies. Y'all are natural at this. Thank you! Btw, When Joel said "They didn't follow the rules so they all got infected. The way he said it was directed towards Ellie not ever following the rules.. that was a little dad moment coming out. So adorable. It reminds me of my dad..
Another great reaction. This show can definitely be emotional at times. I played the game and knew what was coming and I was still in tears. One thing the show does well, beloved characters often die off camera or in a way to not focus on gore and being gruesome. It's one of the things I never liked about The Walking Dead...every death seemed to have to outdo the previous in how gory it was, and it just ends up taking away from the emotional feeling. Ellie's reaction to Henry's death is far more impactful than showing it.
Another absolutely horrifying thing in this episode is when the infected horde, in the last seconds of the scene, heads towards the city and you realize that there is no one left to defend the inhabitants 😱
the infection level is time-based-- basically the longer an infected ferments, the more it... er, levels up? so that explains why years and years of shoving the infected underground resulted in a bunch of clickers, as the fungus fully ate away at their heads and replaced more of their bodies. the big guy is likely one of the ones Joel mentioned in ep. 2, infected that have "been walking around for 20 years."
Another great reaction! I’ve played the game over 10 times (the second around 8 times) so I knew exactly what was coming and it still just wrecked me. Ugly crying. That scene HURTS. It hurt every time I played the game and it hurts every time I watch a reaction, and I’ve watched the entire episode myself three times. Pain! I think what’s amazing is the ability of the actors, writers, creators of the show, etc., (and game) to make you care so deeply about these characters in such a short amount of time. In the game Sam was Ellie’s age, the show he is 8 years old. Ellie’s reaction to Henry shooting himself is ridiculous great acting. I know my own reaction, my wife and kid’s reactions, all the reaction videos I’ve watched and yet Bella’s ACTING reaction is more real than any of them. Bella definitely deserves at the very least an Emmy nomination (so does Pedro). Once again ladies, thanks for sharing your reaction to this amazing show. Y’all are awesome!
i love The Last of us( game) an seeing your emotial reaction like yours is one of the things that i like because it says that the story works not only for gamers it works for everyone

When the show came up I watched a psychologist react to it… she said that if anyone were to watch the show never do it at night and specifically alone because this show required someone else to offer emotional support do to the big impact it has on people and it’s best if there’s someone to talk to and not get bottled up
That's the hardest episode to watch of the whole series. I think it's a great episode but I was also already prepared playing the game though this version was much more sad because Sam was way younger and Ellie finds out the night before and tries to save him which is touching.
The death of Sam and Henry was a real tearjerker in it's own right. What makes it even worse, is that during the episode, Henry reveals to Joel that he never actually killed anyone before. First time he had to kill anyone, and it was his kid brother. Show is great at telling tragic stories, that's for damn sure.
So people mentioning that Sam didn't hurt Ellie because he was deaf often miss that the same concept was introduced in the first episode of the show. The grandmother in the wheelchair was also practically deaf, and if she hadn't been, Sarah most likely wouldn't have been able to come upon the kitchen scene without being attacked. The fact that she wasn't immediately noticed bought her enough time to get outside to the truck.
Thanks!
Someone please explain to me why would I pay someone money for me to watch someone to watch episode of someone.

it's only implied in the show, but it's stated in the game that the infection progresses over time when the person isn't killed or disturbed, from nearly human to increasingly fungal like clickers, and then presumably on to the big guy, and who knows what else? so since the KC military drove all th infected underground a long time ago, they ALL became clickers. which is terrifying given how hard it was to handle 2 or 3.
Ladies, if you find The Bloater to be shocking, you are NOT ready to meet "His royal rattus highness" a.k.a......THE RAT KING!😈
I'm so ready for the rat king
I’ve seen this episode probably like 6 times now through different reaction channels and I never would’ve noticed the limp if you didn’t post it out. No one picks up on that, that’s insane
I'm so glad that they incorporated a lot of the voice actors from the game into the show.
i never noticed the limp before, amazing catch! and of all the reactions to this i've watched (😅)
literally no one picked up on that
Loving the reactions! Was looking forward to this one!
Keep going. This was the hardest one. Next episode is great and one of my 2 favorites. Pedro's emmy submission for sure. 🙂
I love you two so much 😂
“Speaking of Joel, I need a cup of Joe”
“Stop.”
Wow, great pick up with the limp, I totally missed that.
20:00 When Henry and Sam ran out from cover then came back, that was a nod to the game when the AI would make NPCs do something stupid like that. It happened a lot in the game.
The sniper wasn't the doctor. Kathleen killed the doctor in the last episode.
If it makes you feel any better, you've made it through the hardest emotional scenes
have they though?
@@BipolarBLKSheep I mean, it's still definitely tough lol. But I feel this is the end of the super duper sad.
@@calebd.5005 lol I’m not so sure about that. This whole show is gut wrenching, just in different ways each episode haha. No spoilers 🤫
@@calebd.5005 I agree with Caleb here though this is definitely the most difficult episode the emotional roller coaster that the average viewer has is all over the charts. Shock, Fear, Love, Friendship, Anger, Sympathy, Hate, Fear (again), Shock (again). This show is very emotional and many processes of emotions to come.
are you shore about that ? 😂😂😈😈😈
25:08 In case you’re wondering, that big guy is called a Bloater. That’s what happens to victims who’ve been infected for a very, very long time. Its body is like plated armour and they’re incredibly strong.
They are strong because Fungi cell walls are composed of Chitin
The same stuff that makes up crab and lobster shells
Chitin is SO strong that Engineers at the University of Houston are using Chitin and 3D printing techniques to produce high-impact multilayered coatings that can protect soldiers against bullets, lasers, toxic gas and other dangers.
Wow even though I played the game and knew what was coming I didn't notice the limp. Nice catch!
27:40 I've watched this episode multiple times and never noticed Sam limp to the bed. Really nice catch
Another great reaction :D. When I see a new vid from you two, it makes my day!
26:42 "I ain't having kids" hahaha that's so real 😭
This was a great watch-along; looking forward to seeing the rest of the season with you 👍🏻
[Bloater has entered chat]
Kiss: "What... is... THAT!"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- lol
"Endure And Survive" could have easily been named "How far Would I go?".
I cry every. single. time.
You make me crying again , Haylo's cry OMG....
Great reaction i can't wait for the next.
This episode it's too sad
Btw the right hand man of Kathleen is actually the mocap & voice actor of Tommy in the game. (Infact there are 4 voice actors from the games that are in this show)
Also the endure & survive is actually a short comic books series(written by Neil Druckman writer of the games & show) that you can find hidden in plain sight throughout the game.
1st stage is just runners which are fast & mostly human like (we saw in ep1)
2nd stage is stalker (we will see in future episode) as name suggests they are silent & are very difficult to hear when they are coming for you.
3rd stage is clickers (atleast after 5yrs od being infected the infection spreads through their heads & eyes don't exist anymore hence they click & use echolocation instead.
4th stage is bloater (which we saw that huge guy in this episode that's like 10+yrs being infected. (Ellie also asks this to tess & Joel in ep2 beginning)
5th stage is shambler probably will see in season 3 & 6th stage is the Rat King mostly will be season 4.
Nothing can prepare you! And tht final 'I am sorry' is an inwards look of Ellie you dont experience in the game!
There isn't enough tissues in the world to stop me from crying 😭😭
Ok, pardon my French, but you guys are adorable. The organic formula you guys have with your polar opposite reactions, Kiss with her le ze faire responses and Haylo just dead pan looks like Jim from The Office at certain beats, chef's kiss. Also Dr. Pepper cream soda is chef's kiss. Lol. You've probably been asked this a lot, but will you guys be doing a let's play of the source material? You guys will love it I think, and may garner lots of views because it's so beloved. Anyway I've rambled on long enough, so let me sign off boomer-style: kind regards.
Thank you so much, you're so kind!! 😭💕 Yes we are planning on playing through the game after finishing the series and we would love to make a video of it!
@@HayloAndKiss you don't know how excited this makes me
Fight the infected but fear the living.
You have now met a Bloater
It doesn't matter how long the series has finished, this episode will always hurt the heart.
Hey at least there was no gagging this episode 🤷♂
Growth 😂
y'all are killing it :)
Y’all are awesome!
i love The Last of us( game) an seeing your emotial reaction like yours is one of the things that i like because it says that the story works not only for gamers it works for everyone
i wanted to give y'all a hug at the end
31:52 Elle is sorry for not keeping her promise of staying awake with him till morning.
and not being able to heal him/help him through that gesture of blood transfusion :(
Oh wow! You're the first reactors to comment that Sam limped in the hotel room! Great catch!
The softening of Joel, the hardening of Ellie
This episode just rips your heart out!
Glad the "biiiit.." was NOT cut out 😅 I cackled 😂😂😂
I read somewhere that the girl who plays the zombie girl in the back of the car is a gymnast in real life and is basically doing gymnastics in the back of the car lol, pretty cool
The actor who played Perry in the show is the same actor who played Tommy in the game.
Marlene got to reprise her role in the series, she was the original actor for Marlene in the game.
Ashley Johnson who played Ellie and Troy Baker who played Joel also get cameos later in the series ^_^
OH, KISS, GREAT CATCH ON THE LIMP OVER TO THE BED!!! I NEVER NOTICED THAT BUT YOU ARE RIGHT!!
Virtual hug! You're more than halfway done.
Your reactions are the BEST!!! ❤❤❤
25:08 BLOATER!!!!!!! 😂
you look great with the curly hair 👩🦱👏👍
This show and game is a ride. I love your reaction. Keep it up. 😍😍
This episode broke me down. 😢😭
THEIR REACTION TO THE STALKER TYPE INFECTED KID "IM NEVER HAVING KIDS" 😭💀
Love this show and i really hope there will be a second season 🙏 I really enjoy seeing you girls react to this. The reactions are so relatebel because i react the same way when i watch the show.If you girls have time i recommend watching Supernatural. That's such a great show❤ Greetings from the Netherlands
Yeah this is one of the rougher ones 💔
When the show came up I watched a psychologist react to it… she said that if anyone were to watch the show never do it at night and specifically alone because this show required someone else to offer emotional support do to the big impact it has on people and it’s best if there’s someone to talk to and not get bottled up
Loving your reactions - and....do you know what your paint color is?
Within the first minute: "I was having a good day." Oh, oh no.
omg Kiss stole my heart! As ever!
one of my favorite episodes, also great reactions
I’d hate to meet Kiss’s 6th grade teacher 😂
Wait til the next episode…. So good
