@@marcosdecezare3412 I have that same Monster, which was my first Ducati, and just purchased my second and likely my last bike, being in my mid 60s, a 1098 Bayliss, and I could not be more happy. Ken Tam hi Ken, thanks for asking. Unless it's the green frame Paul Smart, I have one already. I picked up my 1299s Aniversario a few weeks ago. Amazing ride. Did you pick yours up yet? How do you like it?
Brother, what ever your doing, keep on doing it ! That's awesome ! I have my 1st Ducati, the 1299 and I would not have purchased any other bike in the world.
This is so funny. I see my collection taking the exact same route his has taken for the exact same reasons! Had several bikes since my childhood before I picked up my first Ducati, a red 2001 748S monoposto. I dumped so much money into that thing, essentially replicating an R had Ducati exported them to the United States. Full Ohlins everything, 4 pad Brembo's, oil cooler, carbon Termi's, asv levers, BMC filters, EVR clutch, aluminum subframe, 3 pairs of Marchesini's you name it, it's got it. At this point the bike is unsellable. Nobody in their right mind would ever pay what I've put into it. So now it's a living room ornament and a damn fine conversational piece. My second Ducati is a 2007 1098S Tricolore. Pristine and bone stock, which is how I plan on keeping it. Both of these bikes are so beautiful, I hardly ride them. Maybe once a month, if that. Next on my list is an S4RS, hopefully followed by a Paul Smart 1000LE. And if I'm going to dream big, may as well throw a Superlegerra in there somewhere. The problem is, I won't want to ride any of them! So I'm considering a cheap used monster, which I'll probably dump a fortune into and not want to get dirty. Ahh the struggle...

It's hard enough to find and have any selection of 18" rears and 16" fronts on the 1980's Sportbikes, and almost as bad to have a 17" rear and 16" front. Since these are street bikes, and not all in museums, shouldn't it have a 17" wheels from the factory?

I dont wanna be like that but this dude did not know that it already had 17" rear wheel. It was the front rim that was 16.1/2" size. If Desmosedici RR was not a limited/expensive bike I doubt he would buy it. Not true enthusiasts in my book, if you are an enthusiast then buy some bike/car that is cheap yet considered good.
Yeah, I'm gonna have to correct you on this one. The front is already a 17, the rear is 16. When tire manufacturer stopped making the 16 rear, desmo owners were forced to either stock pile the 16" rear tires or do what I did, go with 17" rear. Marchesini made a matching rear that's 17" but I elected to go with carbon fiber instead. Also, 16.5 is only on MotoGP bikes, and also the rear. I bought the bike because it's a bad as bike and still is. In all honesty, the bike sucks on the streets; only place you can have fun on this bike is the track and yes I've tracked this bike. So I have have my original 746 and a clapped out 916 that I cherish... doesn't make me more or less of an enthusiast. Just a boy that loves beautiful motorcycles.
Liam - the reason for changing to carbon fibre wheels is when this bike was released it came with a 16`` rear, no-one makes tires that size anymore so most owners have moved up to a 17`` rear by replacing both front and rear with the carbon fibre aftermarket sets, I bought 3 rears in the original 16`` size when I bought my desmosedici, - one track day will wear a set of tires out, so it`s a good idea to have a few spares..
