the Desmosedici has just got more beautiful with age ... in fact it is timeless, it hasn't aged at all, every time I see one in the flesh I want one, they are hard work and expensive to buy & maintain and the newer V4S is a better bike by far .... but Give me the 07 Desmo every day of the week !

When I rode Jerez living in Spain there where three desmos on the track, one leaked oil, the other wouldn’t start and the other had to come in for brake issues, glad Ducati has moved way forward from those days. Older ducs where just maintenance nightmares, I’ve owned three now mostly newer ones and can’t say bad things about them, probably the quick shift on the RSV4 is smoother than the Duc, just my two cents.

I'am a Honda fan! But t he older Desmosedici is so beautiful, the design of it stands out so much more than the panigale. The Ducati Desmosedici for me!
The only bike more desirable than the D16RR is a Honda in my book.
The NR
Desmo RR one of the most beautiful bikes ever made, also on of the most difficult to ride. Ergonomics is not good for the street. Got the chance to ride one on laguna, only started to feel right after I got it on the track.
Having owned a D16RR I agree - they are a track -oriented bike, the gearing is all wrong for the street, 1st is too tall and the dry clutch is a bit of an on/off affair when it`s cold, don`t expect a smooth power delivery and supple suspension - I nearly got bounced out of the seat when I hit a few of Australia`s infamous potholes, Comparing it to my 1199S panigale was a laugh - one has no rider aids, the other has so many I got lost in the setup-menu on a few occasions and it ended -up almost unridable. One hell of a bike, I nearly cried when I sold it..

RR from 2007 very hard to drive at limit..V4 totally another bike more electonic control, simple, for everyday. The superleggera 100,000€ 159kg...another world bike....

Yep - I live near Phillip Island, having owned a Desmosedici and ridden it at the Island I found I was 39 seconds slower than the 1.30 that he was doing ! a lot of that is lack of skill (and power compared to the genuine race bike) but you`re correct - Stoner had the talent and skill to do what few others can, he was a Master -class in Moto GP and I wish he was still at it now..

As the owner of a rsv4 factory s1000rr and a Panigale v4s and the Ducati is a raped ape it’s a monster on the road the track it does get hot on the cheeks and thighs but that’s just weight loss lol
Why does the Desmo sound so good? What’s the difference?
V4 engine of D16RR/Desmosedici has pistons inclined at 90° like an RSV4 against 65° in the case of Panigale V4.

The RSV 4 Aprilia has a 65 degree V4 which makes more power (just) than the Panigale V4 !

Practicality isn't everything. The Desmo moves me like few bikes ever made, and doesn't have to win in the 'rational' column to be more desirable.
Getting ready to move my D16RR to Spain. The noise restrictions in Germany are getting way out of control even though it's a EU policy. If you get stopped in one of the many traffic control points they will keep you there for at least an hour going thru everything on your bike, even down to the millimeter ie angle of your licence plate, how far that plate is from your rear tire.

Duc's are like Harleys they always break down,Japanese bikes are far better but duc's are pretty though
I have owned 5 Honda's, 2 Yamaha's, 1 KTM, 1 Triumph, and 3 Ducati's. The Ducatis didnt give me any more problems than the Japanese bikes did. What Ducati did you own that gave you this experience?
@@brybry8276 Same here, have had several Japanese bikes and a couple of Triumphs. Bought a 1098s in 2009 and still riding it to this day without any issues. Did scheduled maintenance, that's it, never had a breakdown. Every other bike I've owned gave me more issues than Ducati. I'm up for my 48000 km maintenance this Spring & looking forward to my 13th season on this "unreliable piece of over priced junk".
