  • CRISPR saCas9: It's the greatness of spCas9 "miniaturized"!
    ➜ Dear fellow gene editing enthusiasts, thanks for following our Molecular Minutes series--we hope you've had many gene editing adventures since! Have you heard of saCas9? It's a newly discovered nuclease that could change the game for CRISPR-based gene therapy. This "little" nuclease is small enough to fit into an adeno-associated virus and has already been busy editing the genomes of living organisms. Exciting, right? Watch our video to learn more about this CRISPR Cas9 system!

    Good job on the video. This was a fun update. Could you leave links for PubMed references to the papers you reference?

    Question, can Criapr be applied as a treatment for conditions like myopia?

    • @abmgood
      @abmgood  4 года назад

      Hello Samuel,
      Unfortunately, myopia can not be corrected in an adult eye by genetic editing. Modifying the instructions/DNA can stop the problem in future, but it is not possible to fix things which are already defected.

      Hello Raul,
      Yes, theoretically the CRISPR gene editing system could be used to modify melanin expression levels.

      Hi James! Thanks for watching and commenting -- there are many scientists in the field as well as companies that now offer CRISPR Cas9-related services. At abm, for instance, we offer sgRNA design services as well as a variety of cells that express Cas9. You can find our CRISPR products/services here: www.abmgood.com/CRISPR-Cas9-sgRNA.html
