A train running on liquid fuel needs to fill up its tanks from a known fuel storage and embark on a 400 mile run of track with a high rate of success. An electric train needs 400 miles of metal posts to carry the wires, and the train will stop if there is an electric black-out! It is obvious that the liquid fuel is the most efficient and reliable!
Not batteries, Overhead power lines - Catennaries , with Pantograph on Train set to conduct power to electric motors in Train. Used all over the world, some on East coast.
Railroads will probably stop delivering to kalifornia or just charge extra fees for shipments to that state. UPS, FedEx etc already do this to cover the extra expenses caused by kalifornia laws, taxes and fuel prices.
Could someone please explain if more businesses and people are fleeing and CA is losing population, why is building of new housing, neighborhoods, stores, industrial parks, going on through out the State. Where are the people coming from filling the new houses. Rentals are hard to find. If it were just a mass migration of people fleeing the cities to suburbia, or more rural towns, then there would be wide spread vacancies in urban areas, but that is not the case. We have people everywhere, there is no sign of dying cities due to population decline. I just want to know the truth.
Well, citizens are dying out, but people aren't always American citizens, now are they? (This is a reminder that you only need a CA drivers license to vote in any election held in CA, and you do not need to be here legally to get a drivers license. Yes, really.)
In order parts of the world electrification of railways is accomplished by installing an overhead power system, not by using battery powered trains. Likewise, trolley buses are much more efficient than battery powered buses.
California should mandate that all ships coming into port be sailing ships. That would be the icing on the cake. Ahh, back to the days of long boats and wagons drawn by oxen . . . . . .and the uniformed custodians with their pooper scoopers tidying up the sidewalks.
Overhead wire- like on commuter lite rail. Or diesel/electric hybrids. Modern diesel locomotives are basically giant generators providing power to electric drive motors. Doesn't have to be high speed either so it would be retrofitting existing track.
I remember when California finally built the "Century" Freeway. It was over 20 years late and cost between 5 and 10 times what it would have cost when they first wanted to..
Solvable without batteries, but costly and inefficient. In the US, there used to be many miles of freight railroads using electric locomotives powered from overhead electric wires, similar to what is still used on many commuter railroads. *All* of these lines were converted from electric to diesel many years ago, due to the cost and labor involved in maintaining the overhead wire system. It also requires large power plants to supply the electricity to run the trains. Remember that there are mountains between California and the rest of the country, increasing the power needed to get over them.
So IF California bands all diesel engines and oil based energy resources; no food, no clothes, no building materials, no delivery of new EV’s or their very heavy / expensive / non-recyclable batteries 🔋, no reliable electric services. Be careful what YOU ask for. Left California ONE year ago; was there 59 years, Miss the good old days there 🥲. God bless Forbes Breaking News ❤
No problem. No locomotives, no diesel trucks in California. Result: no goods and food come into California.
And no food or goods GOING OUT. That drops revenue even harder.

Yes, really.)
thank you
Who exactly are the people that come up with these mandates, names please.
If I was the train company, I would just tell them no. And let them figure out how they’re going to get cargo to and from.
California will need their own rail system.
I left almost three years ago, CA now only exists to me for entertainment value.
This sounds so like the ending of "Atlas Shrugged".
Well I guess you want get no Freight. The people will Starve.
Newsom for president !! Put America on the fast track to oblivion .
I doubt anybody is calling for battery powered locomotives. Overhead catenary type systems, yes. Batteries, no.
Pulling freight is totally different than passengers
Electric trains don't need batteries. They need an overhead wire for the electricity like they've been using for 100+ years.
The railroads have been phazing out electrifies rail since WW2 as they are impractical.
thats why the rail isnt electrified
thats only a thing for american tramways
instead you just electrify an overhead cable
Im so glad i left cali.
And getting pissed on is referred to as a golden shower.
The ships can come to Houston!
What are we going to do when there are untold hundred of millions or billions of batteries that need to be disposed of.
Why would you need batteries for a train that’s on tracks when power could be supplied
Overhead wire- like on commuter lite rail. Or diesel/electric hybrids. Modern diesel locomotives are basically giant generators providing power to electric drive motors. Doesn't have to be high speed either so it would be retrofitting existing track.
Because there's more graft in battery systems.
Commifornia has unfunded liability of millions of retired state employees for retirement pay and medical care!
I have a meme for this. Bring on the steam tractors!
Wasn't that train cancelled before? After spending billions on it?
At least they know, now it's folly, Mr.Forbes.
I moved out of California and I’m glad I did
Federal interstate commerce laws should prevent California from implementing this, but they can certainly collect taxes for it in the meantime.
Just tell California they can pick their crap up at the state line.
Something is in California’s water.😝😕🫥🫥🫥🫥☠️
We're currently in the middle of a heat wave here in South Cali and I hear that electric vehicles have been stalled due to heat.
Not the golden state anymore. the lead state.
