@@brvndxxxn That's not necessarily true. 40 years ago, we didn't have to lock our doors and we played in the streets until sun down with no worries of being kidnapped. It was a much more relaxed way of living.

This song is an inspiration to all young women trying to make ends meet and to just survive in the hard, cold World. Finally, they busted through and rose to the top with better treatment, better pay, and equal rights in the workforce. It was the true dawning of a New Era, a wakeup call to all ofHumanity. Women's empowerment movement caught fire. 1970 was a great year for reminding us all about inclusion and acceptance.
Sonny wisely said you can have the song only if I sing it and he kept the publishing rights too. It was a perfect theme song and was a big part of the shows success.

And then it morphed into a "Men vs. Women " thing which caused animosity and basically destroyed an entire generation. It's where all the angry "cat ladies" and Incel men came from. We forgot the most important thing...We compliment each other, and that is beautiful.

This is far the best TV theme song ever written. I enjoyed the first version was not as optimistic starting "How will you make it on your own?", later version "Who can turn the world on with her smile?". It is Mary, and always will be. It has lasted the test of time. RIP Mary, you brought joy and hope to more people than you ever could know.

What a generational impact she and the entire crew and staff had on so many of us. MTM was my mom in the 70’s from the clothing, her attitude, her being a working single mother and just the entire show. I am so glad I was there
She wasn't a working single mother. That was the show Alice. But, yes, Mary Tyler Moore show was iconic. My mom was there. But I was probably the bigger fan when it aired on Nick at Nite.

Yup, Sonny Curtis released a country version of the theme as a single after several seasons as the show became a bonafide hit (which I incorporated into the video).

I'm a Mustang guy, I have often wondered why someone hasn't built replicas of the '70 coupe and '73 Convertible that Mary drove on the show.....I've been to A LOT of Mustang shown and never seen one....
