Great show as always!!!! What a busy and fun year with activity and releases from the group and all 4 solo members. An expensive but fun time! I hope that Man on the Run gets a limited theatrical run next year!
This was one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. Shameless plug- I did a video review on my channel "Tony D's Music Channel". Another ironic thing from this documentary is that George Carlin appeared with John and Yoko and 20 years later he replaced Ringo Starr as the narrator of "Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends". It was the first time I had seen John this happy in a documentary.
Having seen the week-long show when it first aired in 1972, I thoroughly enjoyed your podcast looking back on the historic week of daytime television...thank you all!!
The Mike Douglas Show was filmed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where I lived at the time. I was 15 when this was originally broadcast. I watched the show when it was broadcast but do not remember much of it.
The week was remarkable and way ahead of its time, yes like a modern Podcast ! Apparently Chuck Berry played Johnny Be Good in a different key to the band and surprised John into playing a solo, which he winged ! This whole period is astonishing and brave, but perhaps what is breathtaking is we are still battling these issues today! Sadly people dismiss Lennon 71-72 but i think he felt it was proof ending the Beatles was correct, he seems liberated And perhaps explains his utter despair after the rejection of STINYC and the one to one concert? The walk into the lost weekend is put into context? Lennon knew after this period he couldn’t be himself think openly because the media and establishment were too powerful! I enjoy his music after but there was some balls in 71-72 ? Great informed show Thank you
The Memphis segment was historic, and Yoko's hysterically funny when she makes that sound, but I remember Memphis being more melodic. I don't think Lennon sang the tune, it sounded more like he was talk-singing.
With the populist politics today and that many people supporting Trump this could have never happened today. The people would have shouted „communists!“ all the time on social media and probably stormed the tv show. Sad times.
I know the four of you stick up for Yoko, defend her, etc., and don't like any Yoko-hate, but this clip is hysterically funny. ruclips.net/video/LPh5yYp9-PU/видео.htmlsi=FyypING1uXZipxTK
Full disclosure, I'm not and was never a fan of Yoko. That being said I do respect her right to represent her art and music anyway she chooses but I do think you did try to gloss and smooze history a little especially with the Memphis segment discussion. It was dripping with the molasses yall were pouring over it. Just my opinion, I could be wrong
This was another really good and thorough discussion of the film. Now, I REALLY want to see it.
Great presentation! The show covered everything that that is going on Beatledom!

Great discussion, looking forward to seeing this one day. thank you 🙏
Great TMT episode. I remember watching the week John and Yoko were on. It was a fun week to be cutting classes to be home! Thanks !
