THE new remix of Beatle George Harrison Living in the material world in the mid-week Album ranking in the UK charts is # 10. Not bad for starters. Friday November 22 will be first ranking hopefully higher so this album has sold pretty good alot better in sales than Mind Games! Great show guys! Busy Beatles time of the year! Great remix by Paul Hicks and Dhani Harrison! Great album by George sweet spiritual George!
How cool of the late, great Quincy Jones to introduce Ringo at Montreux, which, under the title "The Really 'Serious' Introduction," opens the LIVE FROM MONTREUX concert album.
Excellent discussion. Good points made by each panelist. I enjoyed hearing your takes on the remixed original album and the alternate takes. I bought the 2-cd version of the album and I am very happy with the overall sound and packaging, although I wish the estate would've made the decision to include the lyrics. I've always enjoyed this album and the Paul Hicks remix makes me enjoy it more. Well done, folks! 🙂
LITMW has always been one of my favorite solo Beatles albums. Like Ken, I really love George's spiritual side. I haven't heard this remix yet (thanks to delayed shipping by the Harrison site) but based on your comments, I really look forward to hearing it.
Great call on Nicky Hopkins. The early take on "The Light That Has Lighted The World" is sublime. In terms of the piano, in my opinion, it's right up there with Nicky's playing on, say, "Jealous Guy" or "You are So Beautiful" or "Angie". Fantastic. The stripped down versions of George's songs always impress. And listening to them reminds me of how he "deprived" his fans of an Unplugged album in 1992. Just think: he could have used Eric Clapton's band considering that's what he did for the Japanese tour. Another "if only" to ponder. I'm sure he would have introduced the ukulele into such a set.
This release has been a disaster. On 11/15, release day, I got stiffed by both Amazon and Acoustic Sounds on my Super Deluxe version pre-orders. I got nothin'. The set is on backorder everywhere and it doesn't sound like any more are coming. It's done. Most people who have pre-ordered the Super Deluxe box set are getting the shaft. Sounds like there's plenty of blame to go around starting with the Harrison camp who didn't order nearly enough sets to be produced to meet the demand. How pathetic is that?
I fully understand the frustration. I can only assume that excess inventory was a concern. Back in the day, record companies were always being over optimistic. Excess stock ended up as cutouts in the bargain area. My record collection at that time was full of such records. I came across lots of great records, but the record companies/artists probably didn't make much out of them.
Great discussion. Thanks to all!

Hi Ken, Tom, Joe, & Kit, very informative and interesting as usual. Playhouse picked up the barnes and noble orange vinyl of liamw.

I meant to say “Is it rolling Bob”. Comes from the spoken intro to Dylan’s “To Be Alone With You”

To be alone with you ..is a spoken intro by Bob Dylan from the song “To Be Alone With You”
