I still use Windows 7. I think the newer operating systems are ugly, non-intuitive and harder to navigate. Mine does all I need it to do without having to have everything bang up to date. Win 10 and 11 are both awful to use in every way, in my opinion.
Using Windows 7 is analogous to walking out of the house for a fortnights holiday, and leaving all the door and windows open, and hanging a big sign on the door saying" House empty for 2 weeks: rob me.
@@tonywise198 - LMFAO! Such a Paranoid Exaggeration. Your analogy is not Comparably relevant to the matter. Hey, do you also Enable your Windows Updates for Win. 10/11 believing it will protect & secure your PC like so many Delusional Sheep on here? Until one day your PC Unsurprising won't Boot up to your Desktop due to a Windows Update , or your PC slows down, or Programs just stop working properly for some odd reason. Or perhaps your PC gets infected by some Nasty Malware or your Machine gets Hacked even though you Religiously do Windows Updates on your Win. 10/11. And then just a big "Maybe " you Realize that the so-called popular Professional advice to do Windows Updates and use the Newest OS out there may Not be necessarily so Wise after all. I've Repaired many people's Computers that believe Blindly all the Above nonsense until they Realize its a bunch Baloney the Hard way.
If the os is working no compatbility issue then its ok just dont click suspicous links and you will be fine most of the time but i would recommend using supermium instead of Chrome was not updated on Win7 since early 2023.
Win 7 was by far my favorite version from Microsoft. Then they forced my machine to update to Win 10, and I hated everything about it. In Win 7 I could control which updates I would or would not install, and the MS telemetry was minimal. With 10 and even more with 11, MS was collecting information on which app I was using and how often, etc. For me that was the last straw, so I reinstalled Windows 7, replaced Explorer with Firefox, replaced Office with LibreOffice, and disconnected my machine from all Internet traffic, so I can occasionally use some very specialized video editing apps such as object removal. Anyway, aside from my one Windows computer, my entire family now uses Linux. In particular, my favorite distro is Kubuntu KDE Plasma, which I consider even more superior to Windows 7, as it is Windows the way it should have been, plus it is free and without any spyware.
Definitely agree on the forced updates they do suck, I hate Microsoft telling me which updates I need with no option to skip a specific update if it's known to cause issues.
I'm still running Win7 on one my laptops, and can honestly say it's still my fave. Moreover, I actually need it for running some legacy hardware and software which don't work well on newer Windows. Just because and OS is "no longer supported" it doesn't mean that a tech savvy person can't use, to the contrary. With a good antivirus, Chrome or Brave browser, it's perfectly fine. imo Over 12 years of using it, never got a virus, malware, or ever got hacked.
Windows 7 sluggish? Woah there thats a lie, come on ,windows 7 uses about 35 to 38 processes to do anything modern you like while windows 10 is using more than 100 processes so i dont see in any world how a system that runs 62 less processes or more can be slower than 10,and windows 7 doesnt use the turbo feature that 10 has already if 7 had the turbo mode enabled not only would been crazy faster but already without the turbo it surpases 10. Windows 10 uses fast boot 7 doesnt ,if 7 had the same thing it would won,try and set windows 10 without fast startup,7 cant be slower cause by having less processes running on the system also the network load on your connection is lower disk usage cpu gpu everything when i installed 7 on my 10 pc,it was nasa level fast less than a second everything opens and loads,so no Windows 7 is the fastest modern Os,from windows operating systems.
at a point, i had two systems. a decade old laptop with win7, and a desktop (i5 2400 with a amd hd5450) on windows 10 enterprise, which was quite usable, and by far the best version of windows 10 ever, but for basic tasks that don't benefit from the better hardware, windows 7 was somehow faster, even with all of the aero graphics settings at the max. a much cleaner experience.
thats cause windows 7 lists all the services as 1 process and windows 10+ lists every service as a process all the windows versions since vista have been ui overhauls. saying one is objectively better than the other is delusional
As long as CPUs and UEFI keep having security holes most home users will never be safe no matter how many Windows Updates and new versions of Windows u install
A good reason to use CSM/Legacy where possible, UEFI was basically trying to reinvent the wheel and is actually a lot less secure because the OS in UEFI mode has a lot more control over the BIOS than with legacy.
@@himmelskibet That is so false, legacy mode is a compatibility layer which emulates a traditional BIOS. You are not reducing your attack surface, you're increasing it while also giving up protections such as secure boot & other newer features which increase security. If you look at the most secure consumer hardware, it isn't running in legacy mode, its running open source firmware like Coreboot with active dev teams & more robust code.
@@7udorush308 they have. You could disable shit that would cause problems in gaming. For example DWM (aero glass). Your windows looked like shit but you had no input lag anymore, when playing in windowed mode. In windows 8.1, 10 and 11 you have input lag when playing in windowed mode. Thats why windows 11 released the "windowed optimizations" and Nvidia has reflex, but it's still not as good as it would be if we could just disable any styling shit get an ugly windows 11 to play windowed mode like it would be fullscreen when it comes to input lag.
I still use my HP Win7 laptop as a media center with apps no longer supported, including legacy games that are not emulated. No online stuff ever. G'day Mate 👍👍👍
What Windows 7 users imply when they say they are fans is that they want to see the ease of UI & usability of this in the next OS's like Windows 10, 11. I can't disagree with that AT ALL.
right we want to be able to use the windows 7 UI skin especially for win 10 cause the interface is hideous. win 11 looks pretty good except for the bulky ugly oversized start menu. Not having built in UI tweaks for the taskbar sucks too.
I have two computers.. never thought I'd ever say that.. one of them has Windows 10.. I still have my computer with Windows 7.. I'll never get rid of it.. and you can't make me.
I loath windows 10 with every fiber of my being, but am forced to use it. It sucks, has more problems I can't seem to solve, and is generally just a pain in the shorts, and I'm not even talking about the spying, bullying and commandeering of my computer by microsquish. They think they own my computer, and are always pushing me to install crap I don't want, or log into their network or whatever. They are clearly acting like "big brother" from 1984, not even trying to hide it anymore.
As long as you enjoy living in the Stone Age. The latest generations of AMD and Intel processor features and enhancements only work with the embedded code that's supplied in Windows 11. You can stick with the old favorites, but the smart kids will be far ahead of you in no time.
yep and they both have more processing power than windows 7 did. There's a huge difference in how fast win 7 and win 10,11 update as well. Plus win 10 and 11 come with their own AV and windows 7 doesn't.@@Britec09, @musicmat1001
When i last reinstalled Win 7 2 years ago i made a point of cloning it onto another hard drive for safe keeping so i dont need to go through the update hoops again if i needed to start over.
You wouldn't have to, with third-party programs such as Simplix UpdatePack 7. It takes about half an hour using an SSD to do a full update from a clean install. It only takes about an hour on an HDD. Nobody in their right mind would use Windows Update as it's a convoluted and lengthy process where half of the updates are deprecated by ones installed later in the process.
Thats my plan as well, but I've been wondering about actually going back to Windows 7 now. I feel like I can make it work. Though once Windows 7 & 10 truly stop working with modern programs I'll have to switch to Linux because there is no way I'm using 11 or beyond unless Microsoft adopts the same values in OS design that Windows 7 had or Linux currently has. My main thing is I play lots of Roblox & luckily it still supports Windows 7.
@@murilof000 Just consider that most Desktop Linux operating systems have basically zero security & that its the norm to append sudo to a command anytime a program asks for it, people just blindly give root access to whatever program just because it asks for it. Linux historically was considered secure only because it was obscure which is the worst type of security. However much of that is still true today, very rarely do people on Linux install anti-virus & most of it is fairly basic like ClamAV. So long as you're not blindly downloading stuff & visiting untrusted websites, you're probably fine. Also how will someone know your even using Windows 7 to attack you? Likely your browsers user agent, simply get a user agent changer & set it to Linux, so attempted exploits would be designed for an operating system you're not even using. Of course have an anti-virus, but for even more protection you could get an ad, tracker & malware blocking DNS service. Mullvad VPN makes the best VPN BUT, they let anyone use their DNS servers for free. Switch to their ad, tracker, & malware blocking DNS server to block known malicious domains giving you another layer of protection. After all this is said & done, you can likely continue to use Windows 7 indefinitely without a serious worry about security provided the applications you want to use are still supported or are satisfied with the version you have.
Yep because Win 7 dont have all the spyware like 10 and 11 has as have you noticed that Win 10 for example uses around 32% memory at rest ? where as Win 7 only uses 20% of the 10gb ram i have at rest , so yeah that could explain the better gaming experience
I am not sure what is funnier: the fact that this guy claims that Windows 11 patches are safer (after so many disastrous releases) or that anyone would ...pay for any Microsoft updates ever!
Good video. I did a lot of testing and integrating updates offline via DISM many years ago. Getting windows 7 fully updated was tricky because there were certain updates that had to be installed first and in the right order before the rest of the updates. I mean to remember it was around 150 updates in total to get it fully up to date back then. In windows 8.1 it was even worse, there were around 270 updates, nowadays it is probably around 320 updates to get it fully up to date. Have done the same with Windows Vista with SP2 but don't remember how many updates it took to get it fully up to date. The purpose of this testing was to have windows as fully updated as possible after installation.
Windows 7 and Windows XP will still work the operating system itself is not the problem. The problem is that you won't find updated software that supports it because most vendors have stopped support for Windows 7. So has Google Chrome and Firefox. As you showed us in the video. When you tried to install Google Chrome it installed a very old version that was the very last one to support Windows 7.And that version is probably years old. The same thing happened to me when I installed Firefox on Windows XP 3 years ago. Now it's the same thing on Windows 7 and 8. I didn't want to upgrade to Windows 10 and I tried to put it off for as long as I could. But in the end I had to get off of Windows 8 because I could no longer get any web browsers or software that supported Windows 7 and 8. So I installed Linux Mint. If you continue to use Windows 7 or any old version of Windows you won't find many (if any )web browsers or software that supports it. So you will have difficult doing basic things like viewing this site or any websites. And you need a good browser in order to get online to do anything. Even other things like video chat or Skype won't support Windows 7 and the old versions of Skype won't work. So the answer is no Windows 7 is not useable now because you cannot find many software that supports it. It's the same thing with Windows 8. I liked Windows 7 better than Windows 8 and Windows 10. Microsoft should never have changed Windows and made it like it is now. But they have and there is nothing we can do about it. Except go and find another OS and I have. I found Linux and I would never go back to Windows now.
I think you can use 7 or XP, with the caveat that you'll have a bad time trying to go online so I won't daily drive them for that. The Supermium browser built to support old Windows OSs helps some.
@@Britec09 Thanks Brian. I have noticed that a lot of the people on here who have channels about Linux are Windows users like myself who have changed to Linux because of the way Windows is now with Windows 10 and 11. I think more people will be moving to Linux because Microsoft seem to be making changes to Windows all the time making it less and less user friendly. Windows 7 was one of the best versions of Windows and I don't know why they started Windows 8 and changed everything. In windows 8 Microsoft took out most of the features of Windows 7 and XP and replaced it with that Metro theme. Then it got worse with Windows 10 where you cannot even disable automatic updates. Now with Windows 11 it's even worse. You cannot even sign in to your own computer without a Microsoft account. So no wonder people are leaving Windows. I don't see staying on Windows 7 or 8 an option anymore because it's no longer supported. And if you cannot do anything on there there is no choice but to find another operating system. Which is Linux because there are many Linux distros out there. Linux Mint are set up for new users coming from Windows who are trying Linux for the first time. Also Zorin OS is but I use Linux Mint and now I have started using Debian and it's better than Windows 8 ever was.
@@AndreaBorman You can create local accounts on Win10 and 11 without the need for a MS account. MS do pester you though to login with one. Its not a simple thing to do, but it can be done. But Win11 is trash. I predominately changed over to Linux a few years back, although still keep Windoz around for a couple of things I can't do on Linux (or just easier to do on Windows).
uh you have it all wrong use legacy updates and let it do all the work installing updates. No need to use edgw we now have supermium web browser which is a current chromium based browser that is always updated to the latest version. There is also now an extended kernewl for 7 that lets us use the latest firefox on 7. My computer is from 2012 and its not slow at all running windows 7.

Also ended up with a bunch of corrupted files when I updated and never figured it out till today. Did you end up doing it?
I have 6 laptops running win7, no problem and will continue until I can't. Yes I have win 11 laptop, I am old IT guy, started on win 3.0 till retirement with win 10. I do not actually ever install win 7 just image the drives from a master. In my experience, it is not any slower then 11 the way I use it. Mostly use is internet, old software and older games. Have not used antivirus for more then 10 years, so far nailed everything coming in, but that was part of my job so my situation is different, not much impressed with any newer antivirus software, great for slowing computers down.
Eh I have bitdefender antivirus on my gaming pc and doesn't even make up more than 1% of my resource usage in the background. Sure maybe antivirus slows down budget and midrange PCs.
I'll use my windows 7 computers online, but not for anything where security matters. I might not be able to keep hackers out of my windows 7 computer, but I can keep my sensitive data off of it.
ATMs use Windows XP. Saw a few old people using Windows 98. So, there's no excuse saying Windows 7 is dead. Plus, Windows 7 uses less processes. So, I can't blame them sticking to it.

My experience with speed is completely counter to yours- I have a computer with a Windows 7 partition and a Windows 10 partition. Identical hardware, and yet Windows 7 is probably 2-3x faster across the board. I never feel like I'm waiting for my computer to do something when I'm on 7.
i still use win7, adore it. easy and fast and setup exactly how i want it for years and years. got the 'classic start menu', middle mouse button folder shortcuts, superantispyware, ms essentials. i also have a win10 machine that i despise using - especially the updates that many times stuff something up... what i would like is new directx support on win7 or give me a win11 that operates and looks exactly like my win7 and i'll buy it, don't want anything different.
@@Britec09 - On a half decent machine Win7 is flying. In fact I'm still using it on one of my 2012 Asus G75 ROG laptops with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD, honestly it's faster than my identical model Win10 laptop. I took good care of it over the years carefully tweaking everything to my liking.
Windows 7 definitely isn't slower than Windows 10 or 11. Why would it be? It's a smaller install and is less bloated. Although I will say its performance is optimized by running it on era specific hardware so that drivers can work and do their job fully.
I'm running Windows 7 Professional on my laptop and Ultimate on my gaming rig. The API-Extention, as well as a free vpn and anti-virus, I'm doing fine and playing my Steam games just fine
I still use Windows 7 and in fact just a couple of weeks ago did a full clean installation after years of no issues to see what the experience was like these days on my daily driver. It's nowhere near as much hassle as portrayed in this video. I am using rather high-end Windows 7 era specific hardware though, and I do have all my Windows 7 programs and complementary software saved offline for easy access. All my updates are done through Simplix UpdatePack 7, which works completely offline and took me just half an hour to update to the latest version from a clean installation. The whole process from installing Windows, updating it, and installing all my drivers took less than 2 hours. My system boots in just seconds, and that's with an extended POST process due to an onboard RAID controller. It's honestly never been easier and is actually a faster and more seamless experience than at the height of Windows 7's success. These tech RUclipsrs don't have a clue!
I'm a system builder and my wife is a programmer. We have 3 Win 7 machines here at home. I use Driver backup software and Simplix on X79 chipset M/B's. Simplix has all the Telemetry removed as well as all the bad crap. It is easier now to fresh install than it ever has been.
7 has always been cool....surfing, premier pro, music production, photoshop....not a problem....just bought i7 nuc with windows 11.....will install windows 7....i have wacom setup with vista....mach3 set up with XP....for over 10 years....solid
Official builds of Windows 11 is bloatware, crapware and spyware infested. If you're going to use Windows 10 or Windows 11 use Ghost Spectre's version of it and opt for "install with Windows Defender" from the get-go. Every other option is for skilled/advanced users who know what they're doing and understands the risks of not having Windows Defender installed from the get-go. Ghost Spectre has a README file with every revision he puts out. And he basically states "installing Windows without Windows Defender is at your risk and you will not hold anyone liable, so unless your Mad Max, installion of Windows Defender is a must-have, end of story". Windows 7 still rocks and is a representation of Bruce Campbell's Ash J. Williams character when he states "Hail to the King 🤴 Baby!".
Truth be told I'm not entirely sure what would happen if the updates happen. Would it force Windows Ghost Spectre to revert back to baseline in terms of themes and usability, possibly so. The updates are on Pause until 2070. You may re-enable it and the process will do it's thing as any standard version of Windows 10 and Windows 11.
@collapsingruins I couldn't have said it any better than myself. So in essence, my strongest suggestion to you from IT Specialist to another IT Tech/Tech-savvy/Computer Enthusiasts is to not have any sort of Windows updates enabled. From painful experiences Windows Updates have this nasty tendency to bog down systems even more so with gaming rigs. Believe me you're not missing out on anything, when Ghost Spectre puts out updated revisions of his custom OS, he nicely integrates the major/hotfix patches for Windows and trim the fat and bloatware nonsense. Cheers 🍻 P.S. Windows Defender. Don't leave home without it.
I remember after school opening IE 9 going to RUclips and watching ytps or play Friv games I upgraded my laptop to windows 10 from 7 years ago like 2019. Even though I don't regret upgrading it, 7 will be forever my childhood
My brother and I both take computer based subjects at school and we write them on the same days, what we would do is one uses my mom's computer and the other uses my late grandfather's computer, but that thing packed up. I told my school about it and they borrowed me an old computer that used to be used in the IT lab, but hasn't been used in a while, anyways I got it working, but it has Windows 7. I don't have a problem with Windows 7, it's quite nostalgic really since it's the one I learnt how to use a computer with Windows 7. I just worry that it's not safe to do research with consudering how old it is, regardless I'm really excited give it a go
I have old games and software that run better on 7 and an old netbook that can't be upgraded to 10. ( Seems like a good match. ) I only use an updated linux system for banking. The important thing is for people to differentiate a secure operating system from one that isn't, and use each appropriately.
I honestly prefer holding on to Windows 8.1, I discovered significantly better gaming stability with it over 7 in my own comparisons. Not sure why it's so maligned, only major functional difference I see is the full screen Start Menu.
I still use Windows Vista on an HP Z420-offline of course. And yes, it's faster than Windows 10 and Windows 11. It's lightning fast. Before my finger has released from the mouse button, the program I've clicked on has already fully launched. And mind you I'm running Vista in 4K with that speed.
It is my liking of the Windows XP and 7 interface that now has me running Linux Mint. I do have an XP laptop for a legacy interface that only runs on IE, but it never goes online. Linux Mint is the natural progression for people who like the classic windows interface.
recently restored 5 different laptops to the out-of-box factory restore, cleaned up factory crap and trials and started the updates... I started on a Friday and finished the last one on Wednesday LOL! Most of the laptops were 2010 and I just kept walking in the room and clicking next, reboot, search for MORE! updates. Because I wasn't sitting in front of the computers the entire time and just doing in my spare time took a little extra time but yea, takes forever. None of them could really play RUclips well 160p and almost 360p, truly horrible machines to use but I wanted to get it done. I also did a couple Vista laptops and have some XP laptops to tackle at some point. Just projects for fun, not to use.
Win 10 isn't much better. I had an old Dell optiplex I picked up years ago cheap for a project that had Win7 on it. I updated it to 10 (which took a while), then installed the updates for 10. Still going days later as well LOL.
Still got windows 7 on my kids PC its great for gaming, i love it better than my windows 11, i prefer Linux based OS, currently i'm on Ubuntu 24 which does works great for me...
My modified win 7 computer with ssd and i7 chip is actually super fast compared to my work windows 10 and 11. It runs like a dream. I have constant problems at work. Plus the forced updates are super frustrating.
"Dead OS" . Didn't feel dead to me. Runs like the clappers compared to Windows 10+. Yes I know there's browser security issues. But for quick browsing as an enquiry facility, can't beat it. Wouldn't do the more privacy-sensitive stuff of course
I got Win 7 working on my VM following f=your update instructions and the screen resolution now works fine. Interesting that Windows Defender is still updating with the latest definitions and Edge browser was installed with one of the updates. Didn't think it would be supported on Win 7.
Windows 7 seems maybe not the best thing to use anymore but you can bet moneyn there will be an army of windows 10 out of support users. (Which will include me) due to Microsoft saying screw you your cpu cant run 11 for no reason.
You say that there’s nothing wrong with Windows 11 but then you reported in another video that Windows 11 is going to start recording desktop screens every 3 seconds and your thinking of going Linux…that is a wise move👍🏼
I have a few PCs running Vista and 7. I only use them for music, DVDs, typing assignments, stuff like that. I have a Windows 11 PC that I use for sensitive information tasks.
I wanna try Windows 7 because some older games won’t work anymore on Windows 10 that’s why I went out and bought another hard drive so I can have both Windows 7 and 10 downloaded at the same time.
I agree with you. I installed Windows 7 on my PC just to remember what it was like. Took hours just to install all the updates I could and it is considerably slower than my windows 11. After I found an easy way to debloat and remove all telemetry on Windows 11 it got even faster. It's like you said if your computer is very old you are better to install Linux on it. I use Linux Mint on a PC that is too old to run Win 11. Linux is actually a very fast operating system.
Can You Still Use Windows 7 in 2024 ? Answer, yes u can ! 12 minutes saved right there. Yes it can not only be used.. but it can be used safetly.. and done right with a few tricks it will continue to have security patches for it for years to come. you are concearned for security on windows 7 and you are not concearned for security on windows 11 that is a fully spyware OS? i dont even mention the bloatware....
Exactly, i felt much more exposed and vulnerable with win 11 than i ever did with 8.1 or 7... Not going to upgrade to win 11 with any of my pc's again.
Moved to Linux Mint Cinnamon edition from 7. Best free update ever -- all games, office and productivity programs just work seamlessly and no more Microsoft bugs, viruses or updates!
I have actually done this [May 2024], and licenced it too. For a non-commercial user IT IS NOT EASY TO DO. I bought a 20 user licence and copied the installation to a VM that I could simply clone to another 19 PCs. I've used 4. Note that its only available as English-US and the last version of this is 21H2 which can not be upgraded. But yes, supported till 2032 !
Yes! It's more suitable for and old PC like mine. It's fast and clean. I don't have to wait long when opening a window or the OS itself. I have tried WIn10 and win11 but they were very slow on my machine.
With a good enough processor and an SSD windows 7 runs super fast and fine on my Dell Latitude 3540. I love Windows 7 and Chrome is still supported with the latest version but not for much longer.
its to riskey especially for online banking and intering credit or debit card info to many vulnerability holes its a swiss cheese 1 question how did you install the latest version of chorme on it i thought that did not work on 7 anymore version 123
Having Win 10/11 along with religious Windows updates will NOT necessarily Prevent you from being Vulnerable to Online banking breaches , Malware, Hackers, ...etc. Its absolute Perpetuated Nonsense. But rather , Its your Common sense in conjunction with your Internet habits , Encryption of your Username & passwords , keeping your Main applications Up-to-date and Maintaining Regular Backups of your PC system externally & it's Data that will Protect and Secure your PC Mostly from being Seriously compromised regardless if its Win 7 , 8, 10 or 11 , Mac, or a Linux machine. I've been using Win.7 for years until Now by Practicing the above with no issues and Still able to do Everything I need / want to do .i.e. Web browsing, Email, Gaming, Video streaming, Zoom calls, ....etc. The biggest issue for a Older or Outdated OS or PC is really Compatibility with Software and Hardware. However, I've personally have had no issues; I use Virtual Machines and other things Periodically if a software requires Win 10/11. Otherwise, Win.7 and Linux serve me well.
This guy hasn’t a clue what he is talking about. The security update you are talking about are not security updates but rather spying updates, to give more and more restriction unless they get some money out of you, nothing is free these days, when Microsoft realised that they can make money out of you in another way than just for software purchase they had to develop a new Operation system to implement these money making schemes in to it. Remember if you don't pay for the product, you are the product. windows 7 was supported over 10 years, windows 10 only few years, how long windows 11 would be supported? and how long before the operating system would be done on subscription? Yes, the other software manufacturers follow this path and lots of new software won't run on old windows 7. Greed will get us all!
I despise humankind's obsession with change and constantly moving forward believing it's always for the better - it isn't. If something isn't broken, don't fix it. If there's nothing wrong with something, don't replace it. I love Windows 7, and I still used it up until the end of 2021. I wish I could still use it today.
As long as I can maintain an up-to-date web browser with Superium and r3dfox, which you failed to mention are up-to-date web browsers for Chrome and Firefox, along with a custom-configured firewall and electron patches for applications such as Visual Studio Code and Discord, then I don't see any point in upgrading to Windows 10 or 11. Linux is looking very promising, with explicit sync now being added to the new 555 drivers, allowing Wayland to run pretty seamlessly with Nvidia cards. I'm going to wait for the kinks to be filtered out before making the switch. Maybe by winter, I will switch over, but for now, I will continue to run Windows 7. It does everything I need to better and more effectively than Windows 10 and 11. I understand there may be a security risk, but with ESU updates and POS-ready updates, it is just as secure as any other modern version of Windows. You can download almost every single ESU update from the Microsoft Update Catalog; it takes time, but it is possible. I am thinking about making a Python script that collects all the ESU updates and puts them into a singular batch file.
Maybe it's not just nostalgia. Maybe it's that people don't like the idea of giving Microsoft free and complete access to change their computer in any way they want. Call me crazy, but I want to configure MY computer, the way that -I- want it. I mean, would you let a stranger come over to your home and mess with your computer, installing new pieces of software and changing your settings? Then why are you OK with letting Microsoft do that? Why is anyone OK with that???

I still use Windows 7. I think the newer operating systems are ugly, non-intuitive and harder to navigate. Mine does all I need it to do without having to have everything bang up to date. Win 10 and 11 are both awful to use in every way, in my opinion.

Also windows 11 is way worse
at a point, i had two systems. a decade old laptop with win7, and a desktop (i5 2400 with a amd hd5450) on windows 10 enterprise, which was quite usable, and by far the best version of windows 10 ever, but for basic tasks that don't benefit from the better hardware, windows 7 was somehow faster, even with all of the aero graphics settings at the max. a much cleaner experience.
@@omnitone Of course, because Windows 7 isn't a pile of crap

Them updates are a nightmare
You wouldn't have to, with third-party programs such as Simplix UpdatePack 7. It takes about half an hour using an SSD to do a full update from a clean install. It only takes about an hour on an HDD. Nobody in their right mind would use Windows Update as it's a convoluted and lengthy process where half of the updates are deprecated by ones installed later in the process.
My solution is simple. Once Windows 10 out of support, i will migrate to linux system and ditch Windows 11 completely. No more Windows OS.
Same here. Although I have offline PCs that will still have windows

I can't upgrade to Windows 11 so I'm going to keep using Windows 10 and try a Linux distro (Kubuntu?) as dual boot.

Glad Linux is working out OK for you Andrea
Official builds of Windows 11 is bloatware, crapware and spyware infested.

Actually I still do! Nothing wrong with it! I don't care! I have used Windows 8, 10, 11. I don't care much for Windows 11!
Yes. If there's a will, there's a way.
recently restored 5 different laptops to the out-of-box factory restore, cleaned up factory crap and trials and started the updates...
Yes you can, windows 7 is the best operating system of all time after windows xp!
Never said is was not the best, just said its time to move on.
@@Britec09 Its so sad
@@Britec09when you try to go to Worse operating systems, its not called moving on, but a downgrade
@@keylanoslokj1806 It can also be called "giving up" and cave in.
But not secure sadly
Time for Linux to get applications for it it’s gonna take off after Windows 10’s death
I got Win 7 working on my VM following f=your update instructions and the screen resolution now works fine. Interesting that Windows Defender is still updating with the latest definitions and Edge browser was installed with one of the updates. Didn't think it would be supported on Win 7.
oh no viruses and hackers from all around the world will fk your PC if you use Win 7 oh nooooo.
what a dumb and ignorant take.
Is it possible but is it also possible in every single operating system, newer versions of windows are not an exception to this
Ok why is it dumb and ignorant
Windows 7 seems maybe not the best thing to use anymore but you can bet moneyn there will be an army of windows 10 out of support users. (Which will include me) due to Microsoft saying screw you your cpu cant run 11 for no reason.
I am still one of those said windows 7 users
You say that there’s nothing wrong with Windows 11 but then you reported in another video that Windows 11 is going to start recording desktop screens every 3 seconds and your thinking of going Linux…that is a wise move👍🏼
I have a few PCs running Vista and 7. I only use them for music, DVDs, typing assignments, stuff like that. I have a Windows 11 PC that I use for sensitive information tasks.
You can use Windows 7 for anything . Including sensitive stuff .
Windows 7 is the most stable and beautiful and lasting os of all time windows 10 and 11 don't even last a year 😂😂
I wanna try Windows 7 because some older games won’t work anymore on Windows 10 that’s why I went out and bought another hard drive so I can have both Windows 7 and 10 downloaded at the same time.
I use win 11 on laptop but 7 on desktop.
And 7 is still such a great windows. Idk why they had to fk it up
I agree with you.
Windows 7 is not slow i don't have problem with it
Can You Still Use Windows 7 in 2024 ? Answer, yes u can ! 12 minutes saved right there.
If anyone Believes that just having Win 10/11 in conjunction with Religious Windows Updates will Protect & Secure their PC from Vulnerabilities , Hackers, Computer crashes, Malware, ...etc, then they're Gravely Mislead.
PC users with Win 10/11 in conjunction with Religious Windows Updates can and do fall Victim to the Aforementioned PC issues as well as seeing their " PCs not Start up or Slow down after Windows Updates ". This part is Not so much an issue for Win.7 or Linux users.
Nonetheless, I'm sure Microsoft and Gate's cronies will Continue to be Quite profitable $$$ the More the Public continues to blindly Believe & follow such perpetuated Nonsense.
Yeah i dont think being up to date is gonna matter. Im on windows 10 but i probably will run it after updates stop. (Cpu unsupported)
12 minutes saved watching video, but hours lost updating Windows 7 with loads of errors and outdated browsers with slow browsing. I rest my case.
@@Britec09 - I personally Generally would not Update Windows 7 with Windows Update and Rarely have in over Decade without issue. Therefore, I rest my case as well on that front. lol.
However, I do believe in keeping Browsers and my Software updated and thus, my PC errors or issues have been Minimal over the Years.
Anyways, I agree to disagree with your Stance on doing Windows Updates ,overall; and more so with Win 10 / 11. However, Brian, you do whatever makes you feel Comfortable.
Enjoy your Easter weekend. Cheers.
@@E.Wiseman Have a good Easter
Been using windows 7 on my Laptop for more than 11 years .
In Virginia, USA the commuter train still uses Windows 7 on the train status monitors at the train stations. They are planning on upgrading those monitors later this year
Hopefully not to 11. That OS is a mess.
Totally agree. Was a great ride while it lasted, but now it's time to move on.
Yes it can not only be used.. but it can be used safetly.. and done right with a few tricks it will continue to have security patches for it for years to come.
And wtf are you smokin Britec.. its if anything FASTER for broker and general use vs w10 or god forbid the even more disastrous pile of shit w11.
If you have w7 running and its somehow slower than w10 then you need to learn how to properly build a PC
and don't forget.. w7 is an OS.. w10+ is NOT an OS it is a service.. they are NOT the same thing in more ways than I care to even think of counting.
you are concearned for security on windows 7 and you are not concearned for security on windows 11 that is a fully spyware OS? i dont even mention the bloatware....
Exactly, i felt much more exposed and vulnerable with win 11 than i ever did with 8.1 or 7... Not going to upgrade to win 11 with any of my pc's again.
In short: if you take special measures, win 7 is still perfectly good
Really, the same measures you would do with any OS connected to the internet : common sense
Windows 7 works fine, but the downside is that many programs are not supporting it anymore.
And many programs are not supported by Windows 10/11
just wanted to know if it still works and runs newer stuff, not get lectured on if its a good idea or not. whole lot of yammering in this video
im still on windows 7, not rlly sure when i'll leave it (wish i never had to :'
Sluggish? Bwahahaa! No way, u doing something wrong then.
Moved to Linux Mint Cinnamon edition from 7. Best free update ever -- all games, office and productivity programs just work seamlessly and no more Microsoft bugs, viruses or updates!
im on windows 7 right now
If telemetry is an issue with Windows 11, it makes no sense opting for Windows 7 while using Google and Chrome.
I still use Windows 7
You know if you want to use Windows 10 you can use an LTSC + IoT and get extended updates until 2032
Otherwise, Win.7 and Linux serve me well.
true. banking on computers shouldn't be the norm.
Don't worry about banking.Banks have strong firewalls and other safety systems in place, there's absolutely no problem.
We can and we do.
I have 2 Mac's that both Apple and windows doesn't support... Back to Linux 😂
I believe someone recently released an extended Kernel for Windows 7. 🤔
Would not trust it, same as the unofficial updates
Still use Windows 7 home 64bit on my pc build in 2015.
For me, as of this day I have a computer arcade in my house,,I still use Windows 7.
Someone hasn't heard of supermium
Hi Guys this will give you all a good Laugh , I used to work for Waitrose and guess which OS they still use on all their business PCs ? Yep Win7 lol how have they not been hacked ?
I use windows 7 like normal, no problem at all frankly speaking, even e-banking. No update, just SP1 and ZoneAlarm. Please.
I still use windows 7 with Ryzen 5700x and 32gb Ram . Work's perfect ❤
I have dual boot with windows 10 and I prefer W7 experience.
Firefox is still supported but it is on ESR so wont be for much longer, if you use it behind a router with a good firewall / security and are not stupid online then yes its still pretty usable for now
The latest Firefox and Chrome browsers won't even install on a fresh Windows 7 installation. ESR updates are only available on an existing system.
@@jacksquat55 No? Firefox ESR will install on a clean 7 install
@@himmelskibet It's pretty much irrelevant at this point. ESR will no longer receive updates after September 2024.
It's time to move on. Or stay off the Internet...
I've still got a Windows 7 Pro laptop. It's now mainly used for video capture and processing, as there's no Win 10 driver for the video interface. I've removed all my personal data files and uninstalled Chrome and all it's stored passwords etc.
