this 1971unite the world message is so needed in 2017....
@Jamarkus Hall And 2021 too...
@@BabyMonkeyAlpha And 2024 !!
Whitfield and the Funk Brothers level a jam that holds truth behind the lyrics being sung.
They will never be forgotten god rest their soul. Eddie,Dennis,Paul and Melvin.
Richard and Damon also
Ollie and any others that Saaannng as a Temptation 😊
David and Elbridge as well
No other has or will sound like Dennis Edwards, or the original temps!
Also seeing Don Ho and Cass Elliott ...wow!
2021 and I still feel like the whole world need to listen this
2024!
Variety shows where all the guests and host sing together for a finale- love it! They don’t make programs like this anymore!
OMG! I remember seeing this performance as a kid..I always remembered the black and white gloves and the power of the song. I couldn't remember which show it was on. Andy Williams of all places ! Fantastic ! I remember the close ups of Dennis Edwards face as he belted out the lyrics. Great, great performance.... and LIVE too !!!
I love all things The Temptations.
I like the David Ruffin era Temptations and the Dennis Edwards/Psychedelic era Temptations.
I have never seen them perform this song. This has got to be late 1970 or early 1971. And I thought I saw all of their videos. Great stuff!
I remember it vividly. The song was new, it was on the Andy Williams Show. It would be on this group's last studio album together "The Sky's The Limit."
Yes It is. Ive heard the song ovrr and over again. Just never seen them perform it
Wow! This is RARE!! Thank you @DiscoNights1987. This also HAS to be their rhythm section. Ain't no way in hell Andy Williams' rhythm section was this funky! This also had to be weeks, even days, before Paul's departure and Eddie's, also. What a find!
I can easily tell. By 1970....Dennis Edwards' Afro was more pronounced than it was in 1968 and 1969. So we're talking late 1970/early 1971.
@@3912James ya this looks like around the time they performed Psychedelic Shack In 1970 on Ed Sullivan
I can see why Aretha was so in love with Dennis. Good Lord that man is FINE...
@Linda Hines And regretted it later in life. That's men for ya!
He was fine, so was Eddie.🥰
Whitfield and Strong could toss message lyrics that make you comprehend the life of reality.
And this is still so needed in 2021 😢.
So many if their songs are needed today!
The temptations thread's is what they call groovy the harmony and singing is what groovy
Dennis, could blow vocally upon this song
I LOVE MOMMA CASS ! 😊
Loved this song...almost the Temptations' "hard rock" song
Profiles in Pittsburgh working on through me baby truly fabulous. United with the black and white gloves was what we stand for United States of America. Otis Williams of the Temptation group & probably a few in the background are still alive today Patel this wonderful story of this video. Bless all of you vocalist and musicians in this video
Profiles in Pittsburgh this video is so important today calling for Unity and United America for all of the people around the world to come and joy this land. Are United States of America. Thanks for this video and love of our nation. Brother Andy Williams rest with God because you are truly his chosen vocalist in the days when we were sad and about how to live with one another. Thanks for your show and your guest on it. Sister Noir Parker Carter amen hallelujah
Dennis Edwards... sigh! I see why "The Queen of Soul" was all stirred up./
LOL! MY FAVE TEMP. WAS SHE SMITTEN?
Aretha Franklin wrote Day Dreaming for Dennis Edwards.
@@debiowens3310 you're right, she did.
the original Temptations forever nobody can take their place
Dennis was finally getting songs 'meant' for his voice on this one I see - never heard/saw this before - thanks for the upload
They were getting down once again. My Temptations sounded amazing that night. Proves once again that they can sing anything. Very talented. Most people can't walk and chew gum but these brothers were walking on one beat and singing on another with perfect pitch. Melvin was killing the bass line when he started the song! That's my boo forever. Andy and Mama Cass was gettin' it too. I was in my room shouting ya'll better sing the song! LOL. Thanks for the video.
MAN I TOTALLY BLOWN BY THIS DISCONIGHT YOU REALLY REPRESENTED TEMPTS ROCKS EVEN CASS AND ANDY WILLIAMS WERE GETTIN IT IN LOL
This has got to be a Norman Whitfield Song!
Now babies, we all knoweth that Uncle loveth his TEMPTATIONS of the Dennis, Otis, Melvin , Paul and Eddie type. Uncle loveth those five gents in a way that he canst not loveth any other five gents !!! But all the other forces coming alongside them (Ed Sullivan and Mama-Cass type) and with them are also being appreciated by this Uncle who only seeth how the world needeth to 'Cometh Together' as per The Beatles !!! And for those being 'too drawn' unto Dennis' voice and looks ... remeber that Aretha Franklin (ReRe) saw him first !!! DO NOT TRESPASS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY !!!
Dear publisher 'DiscoNights1987' ... We loveth The Temptations ... and for promoting them ... we only loveth thee too !!!
I declare the Temptations kinda reminds me of the Ninja Turtles how they rock well together as a teamLOL! David Ruffin or Dennis Edwards is Michelangelo, Eddie Kendricks is Donatello, Paul Williams is Raphael, Melvin Franklin is Leonardo, and creator Otis Williams is Splinter LOL! TEMPTATIONS+TURTLE POWER FOREVER everyone LOL!!! 🐢🐢🐢💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💯💯💯
The very last TV appearance was on the Ed Sullivan Show. One of the songs performed was "Just My Imagination". Eddie was thoroughly pissed by that time, and was ready to leave. He stayed long enough to fulfill their TV itinerary through the spring of 1971 before departing the group. Check it Out! Ciao!!!
This line up was awesome too....great sound not seen these days. Mama Cass. Wow I forgot about her
But it was David Ruffin who Convinced Kendrick of quitting The Temptations by (1971) and going Solo
Its so interesting how this song is more relevant now than then, so sad.....
Beautiful Performance by the legendary temptations 💎⚫⚪. This is needed in today's generation we need to unite and come together.
That was November or December of 1970, Judi Messina; just a few months before Eddie Kendrick's & Paul Williams' sad departure from the Temps. It was also one of their last television appearances with this classic lineup.

WOW... Outstanding performance. 🎵🎶🎵🎼💖💞💖..
THIS IS OUTSTANDING,,,,,,,NEVER HEARD THIS,,,,,,,,,,,,
The Temptations, Andy, Mama Cass and Don Ho. Only in the Seventies.
And why not..music brings us together
Wow
Lord Yes!!!
wow you showed us an amazing archive again. thank you!
Venny Tania Glad you enjoyed! Hopefully there will be more to come soon. :-)
Of Course Without Hesitation Over Here Showing Support - Thank You - Peace & Blessings Symone
Dennis Edwards replaced a legend and became one himself the Brotha could blow
I loved Mama Cass! She was the first Queen Sized entertainer who gained fame despite her size. Our birthdate is the same date, as well as Smokey Robinson and Bobby Rogers, February 19.
TEMPTATIONS still working to bring everyone together. Music makes people Happy. Thx ❤❤❤❤❤
Fantastic! Never seen this before.
The masters of steps that to this day can't be touched. The boys of Funk aka Funk Brothers
The lyrics are truly reflective of the international conflicts and political upheaval going on in the late 60s and 70s. I wonder what the Tempts would sing in 2017 to reflect the current state of our world.
WOW great song. Loved it Powerful words. Let's all unite
Gotta love that ending I at least replayed it more than 10
Times😂😂
Gm edagdwg thanks You Tube for sharing this history of respect for yourself and others 💯 God is always around pray changes everything and people these men are staying true to yourself as a child of God never heard this song but we need this right now Linda j peace God is love 🦋🦋🦋🦋💯💯💯🐦🐦❤️🌈🌈🌈🌈🦋🦋☮️☮️🦋🦋🦋🦋
Big momma cass singing with the temptations
Yeah this was Eddie and Paul last album with Sky The Limited. I have the Album and CD. I bought the album back in 1971 and got the CD in 2000. I'm a Temptations fan. I have everyone of there album's. The very first album was Meet the Temptations. They all was around ,22.23. I just found one of their album that got stole from me. Solid Rock album with new Comer's Richard Street and Damon Harris who took Eddie and Paul place. Now that album was hard to find 1972 album. Motown didn't wanna released that again after it sold out. I just found that album 2018 for $12.00. I seen It on another site going for $600.00 way to much. Who ever pay $600 is a fool. That album is not a classic like Meet The Temptations
Yes Solid Rock is still rare.It seemed to be limited copies when it was printed even when it hit the shelves.I got fortunate to find it in a EJ Korvette Store that was closing in 1976.It may have came out of their Warehouse inventory
Yes. I'm an eternal Temps fan, from the "Classic Five" period through Dennis Edwards, and the "Psychedelic Period" on. I also have the "Sky's The Limit" Vinyl album. Check it Out! Ciao!!!
The Sky the Limit album came out 1971 because that was when Just My Imagination came out Paul and Eddie last recordings
RIP, Dennis
Dennis!!!
Terrific group, even though it's a lip sync it's great to see these contemporary performances when they were at their peak. We never to got to see nearly enough of the US performers here in the UK through the 60s and 70s. A live appearance on.a UK TV show was a very rare thing!
MASTERS....
David Ruffin often when to see the Temptations from time to time
Gm edagdwg thanks You Tube for sharing this history of respect for yourself and others God at work 🙏 changes everything and people love this sad people are doing just what to stop fighting respect yourself and others God is always around Linda j peace ❤️💯💯💯☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️
OH,,,,,,YEAH WORKING ON A GROOVY THING,,
Should have been released as a Single, 1st cut Beatles lyrics and Don Ho
if Dennis don't look all kinds of good here...
You done it again :) nice video
Side 1, first song from the album “Sky’s The Limit”. One of my all-time favorite albums. Last Temptation album with Paul Williams and Eddie Kendricks.
Love the Temps. Why do they all look extra tall here or is it me?
Still accurate today!!
This song is more heavy-metal than black sabbath!
Truc de ouf!!!! Manquait plus que David Ruffin dans ce morceau!!!
Hey this is dope
I never seen this video. I thought I’ve seen it all. Eddie & Paul are still here. I’m guessing this is 1972?
Naw it can't be (1972) Paul Williams was forced to Retire due to his drinking Habit at the same time Richard Street Became his replacement. Eddie couldn't deal with the stress going on in with group and didn't want Otis to let Paul go. Right around (1971) Eddie went over to visit his friend and former Temptations member David Ruffin who Convinced Kendrick of quitting The Temptations and going Solo so by the time norman whitfield their producer came up with the hit song just my Imagination (1971) it became Eddie's last song and soon as the song was done he off stage after the house lights dimmed and never looked back. Eddie Kendrick officially quit the Temptations. And Damon Harris became Kendrick's replacement by (1972)
Paul returned for Sky's The Limit. That was 1972.
@@DanielSchmidt94521 Temporarily That Is. I Almost Forgot To Mention That Otis Had Hook Paul Up To Some Oxygen Tanks To Keep Him Breathing. But However Richard Street Sung Backstage As Paul's voice due to his drunken voice. Then he was forced to Retire from singing and dancing. And Richard Street replaced Paul. By (1973) Paul Williams had died.
@@DanielSchmidt94521
Skys The Limit came out in 1971 and that album also had Kendricks' last hit song with The Temptations called Just My Imagination. So no, Paul never returned, he never left at the time this album was made
I always forget that albums are released long after they are often recorded.
Still relvant today
I like the original Swahili version from 1970.
WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE AN EARLY TOM JONES, DO A SONG WITH THESE GUYS.
It is the first time I hear this song.(2023.07.27-21:27-socalled South Africa)
I had this album, check it out on Spotify
I think this episode of the Andy Williams show was broadcast in the USA on Saturday, 24th October, 1970 and in the UK on Thursday, 11 February, 1971.
🌍❤
Okay..I love Dennis leading lots of songs but not this one. it's been said that David Ruffin said Dennis shouts:)..he did😊. TEMPTATIONS ❤️ FOREVER
