Great to see a full year’s hard work summarized in 50 minutes! 230 years of rubbish cleaned out and the bones of the building laid bare, providing a base for the plans for the renovation to move forward into the next stages. We can see sooooo much progress !!!
Thank you. That was lovely from here in the UK (and thanks for doing it in English). To preserve these old European buildings is a wonderful thing. I recently had a 200 year old line press - huge cupboard I had bought 20 years ago, no one buys them now due to Ikea etc. However an old country house took it last week and I felt so glad it was going to be destroyed and lives on to fight another day. One general message to all house holders though do not keep all that stuff in attics. When my son bought his house I spent ages clearing stuff so the loft was entirely empty - so many people must have left things thinking they would be used later. No they won't be used later - throw it out. Danke schoen.
I love old furniture and I am so happy that I have found some really great pieces. But you are right I could have done without all the old stuff and trash that was left behind. Thank you for watching ❤️M
It must feel awesome to have that place demo'd, cleaned out, reno'd, updated and cleaned up yet again!🤗 Definitely a massive amount of work but that brought massive satisfaction! A lot of old 'treasures' and history here. It would have been cool to have a metal detector expert come in before anything was even touched, who knows what treasures were hidden in all the rubble and the ground that was moved?🤔 WELL DONE!!👍 Wishing you well on yet another year of progress in 2024🎉
That farm must have been a bustling place when it was active. It so sad to see these wonderful old places become so run down. You two are fabulous people for taking on such a challenge. I hope it turns out the way you want while doing credit to the buildings themselves. Keep there spirit if not there function. Brightest Blessings to you both
Thank you so much. Yes there once was a lot of life in this house and it’s buildings. We have great plans and dreams for this place, so it can once more be a lively and happy place to live and thrive for us and for those who come after us. Lots of work ahead of us first. Thank you for watching !
What big spaces! Numerous buildings. What looked like an old barn could be converted into another house! I love the way you decorated the upstairs! Just subscribed! I am going to enjoy this!😎. How much land did you get with it, if any? Until next time! ❤️🙏🏼😎👋🏻Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you so much and welcome aboard 🙏. We didn't buy any extra land with it. The area is about 2000 square meters which is spot on perfect for us. Not too small, not too big. L.
So nice to see you both again! Thanks for this great video, it's unbelievable the progress you've made so far and how much work you've put into your house. I'm really looking forward to your next projects. Take care of yourselves! 😊
Succes toegewenst

Well done. Seems like 3 years work. All those areas and layers in the areas to clean. My goodness. Love the rooms you have updated, especially your kitchen. Can't understand the previous owners who had all that space, yet crowded the kitchen with laundry items. Can only put it down to not wanting to walk too far. Yet the house has so much space. Lots ahead, obviously. Congratulations on 'tying the knot'. Best wishes from Australia.
Thank you, it is hard for us to believe too, that we’ve only been here a year. This used to be a two family home. We are currently living upstairs in the ‘apartment’, there used to be (and will be) a large kitchen downstairs. Yes lots to come! We fear it will get worse still before we can start making it so much better. But we have a picture in our mind of how awesome it is going to be.
Hi Mark I have a1991 ford Laser and I love her.Has 151,000 on the clock the engine and automatic transmission are all still great I have had her for 10 years and n3ver want to part from her.Your car still looks great too.
I think we have filled five large skips so far and put out a lot of trash for pickup too. Waste management is a big challenge here. Hi 👋🏻 to you in beautiful Australia. M
Thank you! We submitted samples of all suspicious materials we took out to a lab for testing. They were all clean, except for one small pile of debris in the garden shed. Which we removed carefully. Thanks for caring, and providing feedback 👍. L.
@@lex.and.marianneWonderful to hear that 😊 Was thinking that these floor plates (probably pvc) always contain asbestos but this are really great news :-) I am also renovating an old farmer house in RLP but way smaller and unfortunately with very basic fachwerk. There are also this plates but buried under screed
You've worked hard but when you revamped the bedroom you laid the planks wrongly. It's essentially a floating floor so some breathable membrane would have been nice then lay planks on but not in same size lengths. You have to stagger the joints meaning you should have cut the boards .......
Thank you! We know. It is only a temporary floor, we want to reuse those floor boards again one day so we laid them as easy and fast as we could with minimal cutting.
For some reason I couldn’t close caption it so that I could read the dialog. Video was sped up so had some problems hearing/understanding occasionally because of the accents. I don’t know if it is you guys that can choose whether we see the CC=closed caption or not. I have no idea but it would be nice to have it. Then people speaking other languages can do the same thing. If those languages are available. Until next time!😎
Was watching this video and thought the whole time „that looks just like our area (Hunsrück)“. Then you showed the old maps and I was shocked! 😅 it‘s really our area, that‘s so cool. Do you know from when this map was? Because the names of the villages are so different now.
Good bezig.
Not sure which Maxine you are referring too. The round barrels turned out to be an old washing machine. The green machine in the barn was something to mill grains and animal food. Thank you for watching M
The ground floor is nearly ready for repairs and rebuilding (although we're not 100% yet if the current ceiling will stay or go). Also we will soon be in the attic installing insulation and building a room around the stairwell. Beside that, there is still a lot of clearing and cleaning to do, especially in the barns. L.
I'm cringing watching you demo each room onto a lovely parquet floor....and then you took out the floor! I'm not quite sure why you totally gutted the house. Will you keep anything of the house's past?
We have to gut the house. Many of the structural wood beams are severely damaged and need to be replaced/ strengthened. There are also beams in / under the floor. We’ve explained this in earlier videos. We aim to restore the house to its former glory, showing off as much of its historical beauty as we can. But first we have to make sure she can survive another 200 years. And that she is fit for comfortable living again. Thank you for watching! M

Watching your time lapse, I would definitely say a labour of love for both of you. It's staggering how much you've achieved.👍❤

Great editing…. You have done SO much. Have you counted how many “skips” you have used?
Hi from Hervey Bay Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
I think we have filled five large skips so far and put out a lot of trash for pickup too. Waste management is a big challenge here. Hi 👋🏻 to you in beautiful Australia. M
Amazing hard work. Sad you didn’t protect your lungs but hopefully you’re lucky in the years ahead.
Thank you! L.
Great series :-)
Do you were aware that these linoleum like plates in the kitchen and floor are probably floor flex ones which contained asbestos?

Crazy effort to save a bunch of rotten wood, you don't have to tear it down and build according to today's needs what you need.
