    As a former longboarder turned esk8, your videos are gold bro. These wheels are all used in esk8. The esk8 world are raving about the dad bods. I almost fell for the hype. Your video has confirmed my reservations. Like you, my favourite wheels are the 107s and for the same reasons. Abec make the best thane. Their rebound is just the best. The soft 74a duro means more grip and a cushy ride as opposed to 80a dad bods. And man I need grip. My sliding days are over! I look forward to watching all your Large wheel reviews. Lastly, I'm not sure if you ride in the wet, but there's a new 105mm hydro wheel you might want to check out. Peace from London bro. Subbed!

      Yeah man, thank you for the support. Yeah you share the same ideas I have, I thought I was the only one lol. I definitely have to check out the hydro wheels because there might be some races that will be rained out, I gotta be ready.

      I am unsure if the ABEC11 x Evolve 107's are different from the OG 107 Fly wheels, but had a set of these and I didn't enjoy riding them at all on my Evolve GTR Esk8. I found they had great grip right up till the point they didn't. They would then let go completely, would kind of vibrate across the surface of the ground and I would end up coming off which always left me weary when close to the limit of traction. Perhaps I didn't persist with them enough and learn their limits maybe?
      I have spent loads of time on the orange 80a Orangatang Caguamas and absolutely adored the way they feel. They grip well and perform really predictably at the edge of traction and in a slide but they would become tiresome on longer rides. I had considered trying other big wheels but given their expense I was a little hesitant after I didn't like the 107's.
      When the Dad Bods came out, given my positive experience with the Caguamas, I got my hands on a set as soon as I could and haven't looked back since. Given they are a good bit larger there are some trade offs at the edge of traction compared to the 85mm Cags but they are a good amount more comfortable and deal with rough surfaces much better.
      Comparing them to the Evolve x ABEC11 107's I find the Dad Bods behave in a much much more predictable way at the edge of traction. This is very true when traction has been lost at unexpected times. To date every time this has happened of the Dad Bods I have quickly found traction again and kept on my way. In comparison I found just about every time I had similar situations on the 107's the complete loss of traction had me loose control and I would eat it.
      The Dad Dods are my choice for long distance rides and I have heaps of 50+ km rides on them with complete confidence. With the 107's getting little to no use I sold them. I caught up with the guy who bought them recently and he loves them so perhaps it was just me.
      At the end of the day someone who loves a certain wheel may dislike another and vis versa. Everyone has their preference or style and there is no right or wrong.

    Fantastic vid! Been looking forward to this one! You mentioned that the dad bods can outperform the others if the roads are smooth. So I wanted to ask, do you think the path for Broadway Bomb is mostly smooth enough for the dad bods to outrank the others? I know some parts can get really bumpy but Broadway bomb path tends to be relatively smoother I feel. Or does the ground need to be even smoother for the dad bods to outperform boas and abec 11s? A similar followup question would be: what wheels would you personally choose for Broadway bomb between the three you reviewed in this vid? Let us know! Once again, great vid!

    • @Mr.MeetJay
      @Mr.MeetJay  Год назад +1

      Hey thanks for the question and I appreciate the support. So, I don't think the Bway Bomb is smooth enough for the Dad Bods to outrank the others. They have been making it safer but in terms of the pavement, they only have a couple sections that are re-paved to be really smooth. The wheel that I would ride for the bomb is the flywheels, but you can't go wrong with the boas either, because they have a nice acceleration. If you get stopped at any red lights, they will acceleration better than the others and get back to your race speed quicker. So if you stop and start a lot that may be something to consider.

    Where I live (Germany) the Boa Constrictors seem to be by far the cheapest while dad bods and flywheels cost about the same here. Only other cheaper option I found would be the HAMBOARDS PU 97MM. So in conclusion I personally would get the Boa Constrictors alone frome a price to performance ratio.

    I've used all 3 of these wheels.
    For a while I was riding abec 11 107's on my pantheon trip and by far they were my favourite out of the 3 because they had the best roll speed and it glides over rough terrain very well.
    I've moved homes a few months ago and the roads here are a lot smother. Because of this I now use the dad bods.
    The dad bods are nice and light, they have very good acceleration and on fairly smooth streets the dad bods roll much better than the boa's and Abec's
    The boa's I feel are just about the perfect wheel for all types of street. They perform similarly to the abec 11's (it's like a more durable abec wheel) and I'll be using these wheel in a future project I'll hopefully post on youtube.

      Yesterday I got my ABEC11 111MM wheel, which is very big and heavy but very stable, it can comfortably pass all kinds of roads, it is a bit heavy to push, but when the speed is up, you can push and pump at a very low frequency to maintain the cruising speed. I've only used three big wheels, the boa100, the dad bod and this abec111mm, (no 107, because I bought 111) The boa100 has good shock absorption, but the drag is very high and the speed is difficult to get up, and it slows down very quickly. The dad bod push is very easy, fast and has a good battery life, but for now I prefer the abec111, which pushes me past my limit speed. Look forward to your review of abec111. Esk8er here. I rode cyclone 110s throughout a soggy winter. Rubber wheels win over pu when it comes to grip in the wet. Though you lose a ton of range compared to say abec 111mmn and abec 107mm or any other urethane wheels. Rubber sticks to the road more than thane. So out of the 3 you mentioned, the clouds will win easy.
