    Generally speaking any board you just wanna use to get around should have a kick tail, its definitely not necessary but you won't regret it, double drop decks are good for long distance pumping but aren't as good at zipping through people, you'd want something with topmounting

    • @dustmemory9891

      Bigger wheels (70mm and up) with soft duro ratings (85 and lower) and quality bearings (zealous bearings get lots of praise on reddit, I find the jehunion bearings from loaded to be pretty good) should get you going faster.
      For reference, I was able to get up to about 10-13 mph on a dinghy (28 inch cruiser with 14.5 inch wheel base) using plow king wheels (72mm with 78a durometer rating) on flat but pretty bumpy ground as a fairly noobish skater.
      Basically, bigger wheels take more effort to get moving but have higher top speeds and stay rolling for a longer time. Just watch out for wheel bite, u might need to add risers.

      Grab the Switchblade. the Evos drops are in different angles so the rear truck does stear less which is helpfull at higher speed...but it is the hell when it comes to ride switch. This makes the Evo very specific for racing. and YES, the EVO is heavy. I sold mine again a few weeks later.The switchblade is "the" allround board for me. You can slide, cruise, pump, race. I got myself the 38 and since then my other board do not leave my trunk anymore. The 40" was too large for me. But make sure you use better trucks (>= Bears) and a few sets of wheels for the different situations. I really like the Orangatang 4 President for going fast and the Hawg Zombies for sliding.

    I could draw some force vectors that could prove the drop through truck style has no impact on anything. As long as the deck height is the same, there will be no difference. The benefit of the drop through truck mount is that generally, the deck height is lower. If you concaved a board enough to have a low deck, it wouldn't ride any different if it was mounted on top of the truck. Neither turns quicker. The forces are the same. The axis of rotation is the same if the deck height is the same.

    • @Bruceillest101
      @Bruceillest101 3 года назад

      Yeah, pin tails are great beginner boards. They are very surfy and you can carve really easy with minimal effort. The dingy (board with a kick tail) is more of a intermediate lvl board. The short wheel base makes it difficult to tuck in at high speeds and the short trucks make it really responsive. I got a bamboo pintail as my first board and I’m out growing it fast Bc I find myself wanting to carve and go faster down hills. Just get something with top mounted trucks. Then go from there. You can also ride the boards at Zumies.

      I have one and actually tried but it is pretty hard. Or maybe I'm just bad.

    • @Ashla_44
      @Ashla_44 4 года назад +6

      more difficult but still doable. The main issue is drop decks dont have kicktails so you wouldn't be able to do any kickturns or tricks of any kind.

      What about a drop through?

    • @Ashla_44
      @Ashla_44 4 года назад +1

      @@AB-oh2nf still doable but you certainly need kicktails to be able to do anything off the ground. also, a drop through means a slightly smaller standing platform due to the cutouts.

    Sorry, I had to comment as you made some technically confusing/misleading statements.
    3:57 What you said and what you were pointing out and what you had in your hands at the time were opposed and confused. Drop-through decks have the trucks top mounted (what you have in your hands at this point of the video). Non-drop-throughs have the trucks bottom mounted. "So they turn quicker." It's not torsion, it's leverage. Bottom mounted boards exert more leverage on the trucks and thus turn quicker than top mounted/drop-through boards. You kinda said this while you were confusingly holding one type and talking about the other. And, the quicker turning is one, but not the primary, consideration between a drop-through/drop board versus a non drop-through/drop board. The main consideration is deck height. Drop-throughs and drop boards are more stable and easier to kick push.
    6:03 "It's a 31.5 inch wheelbase, instead of your 40, 45, um, 60...." You mean board lengths, not wheelbase. A 31.5" wheelbase is huge. That particular board has a wheelbase probably under 17".
    7:08 "So, in trucks, you have your traditional shape..." as you pick up a non-traditional, reverse kingpin truck. Bro?
    And, there were a handful of other things said that weren't right....
    I appreciate that you want to educate us, but you have to be concise, and correct, with what you say. Otherwise, you're just confusing your audience.

    Dude. Im 6ft 4in and weight 295lbs. I want to get into cruising. And at 44 yrs old what are my options? I would love to do a video on introducing longboarding or Cruising for men or women in their 40's

    • @pinkfiffty3094
      @pinkfiffty3094 4 года назад +2

      Nice, you have a ton of options, you probably dont want somethong too flexy because of weight, something like the Landyachtz switchblade 40 would probably be nice its very versatile. Its nice and low so great for cruising and for beginners and just a little flex so it should have a nice feel and is stable so if you want to learn to slide do some freeride or mild downhill later on you can. Just make sure you get protective gear(helmet, knee pads, slide gloves and elbow pads). You also have other options, if you have something specific you want to do this can change things like if you want to dance or be able to manual or freestyle etc.

    What boards would feel most like a snowboard. I’m thinking of getting a longboard but I want something that would feel like snowboarding

  • @samthespark
    @samthespark 4 года назад +6

    The built in wedges on the Evo also make it more stable and steer more like a car...(lower angle baseplate degree in rear, higher degree in front.) That means less turn in the back, more turn in the front.

    • @samthespark
      @samthespark 4 года назад

      Also, all these boards can slide easy with many wheels with the correct technique.

    What board should i get if i just wanna cruise on flat surface?

    • @invictussiempre8705
      @invictussiempre8705 4 года назад +2

      I prefer the Landyachts Dinghy or (if bigger is required) something like a Comet Shred City 35 (which is my actual Pumptrack weapon). For smooth cruising as a beginner you can also get your feet onto a Loaded Dervish Sama, as they are very flexible. But this also eliminates a lot of pump energy. A lot of people I know used them at the beginnign an then went for a stiff board.

      Flat isn't enough of a description. How heavy are you, what is the condition of the roads and is this flat and straight, or are you going to have to make a lot of turns?
