When Crusoe struggled with the barrow and spade and suddenly lifted both up and carried them over the undulating ground.... what a clever moment, so impressive for such a tiny tot💞.
I would say you picked the best area to homestead, not like two families in north italy. They have to dig out floors, sump pumps, heavy stone roof to repudding.
Tara your vegetable garden is divine! Crusoe is learning so much from growing up on the farm… his problem solving skills and independence is impressive.
So much in just one year…new kitchen, tiny house finished, vegetables growing, fruit trees growing, a swimming pool, greenhouse, and chickens! Well done Newbys!
I watch your videos with my 19-month old. One of the only channels I can watch without him wanting me to change it because he is obsessed with Crusoe! He waves at him and says “goodbye” at the end of the video. He even dances to your music 🎶 Thank you for helping to keep both him and me entertained, keep up the good work!
Hello Newby family. Tara, what you did with the basil you can do exactly the same with Rosemarie & lavender. Just make sure there are no leaves on the stem that go underwater, as it rots & contaminates the water. You can put several in each bottle, just refresh the water every few days. You can make Rosemarie & Lavender hedges with all these sprouting cuttings. Beautiful. Great to have the pool back. Keep you all cool through the summer. Veggie garden is looking fabulous too. Stay well & happy, won’t you all! Cheers Noeline! 🇦🇺👍❤️❤️❤️❤️
For the watersystem; If you don`t really know where the pipes are going - you can always use some bright red or orange food coloring in powderform at your local Indian/Pakistani store. By then you can easily see the red spots over there, and there an even over there. Happy Holi 💙❤💚

You have accomplished SO much in one year's time !!! Watching Crusoe grow with his personality blossoming is a treat - he must be the youngest gardener ever!
This is one of my favorite videos so far. I loved seeing Caruso figure out how to get his wheelbarrow where he wanted it. I loved seeing the love you both showed to your children. I loved seeing the farm prosper using what was available. It's such a gorgeous place. I envy you both. And yes, John, I also loved seeing how you figured out the irrigation problem and learned a bit about it.
Hi there friends. Good point. The pool is far to tall for Crusoe to climb into, and when he is tall enough to climb in, he will certainly know how to swim, or just stand up in the water, it’s quite shallow. For the chickens and wildlife, the couch in the corner will certainly aid animals exits if they are unfortunate enough to fall in. This unlikely scenario is one we will keep an eye open for, so far no issues to report. 👍
Hi Newby Family, happy Sunday to all of you! I loved seeing Crusoe independently solve the wheelbarrow problem. Children can be so independent if adults let them be, like you are doing on the farm. Have a great start of the week! See you on Wednesday.
Another entrancing vlog as always. It's fascinating to see how the harder you work and the more love you show your land, the more the land starts to reveal its secrets.
I still have fond memories of cleaning my uncles irrigation tank with friends and cousins every summer. We would clean and then we would allow us to use it as an all natural swimming pool all summer. I’m sure as Crusoe grows he could then invite his friends to help out. They would absolutely love it and cherish these memories. Happy Sunday to you 🇵🇹
The garden is just flourishing! All your hard work is paying off Tara! The pool will be great again this summer when it is super hot! I pray the water situation on the farm continues to get better🙏❤️!Children learn from their parents & Crusoe is learning more every week & his vocabulary is absolutely amazing! Both you & John are such great parents!🙏❤🙏Blessing’s
I love my Sunday mornings with you all! Always making me smile and grateful for life! Crusoe displayed great problem solving skills with his wheelbarrow and he is forever delightful to watch as he grows up! Your family has done so much in a year and thank you for sharing! Have a lovely day!
You've achieved so much in the garden this year! ❤ With the real heat coming on I do however think you should consider mulching at least the most water loving plants. I think you'll need som help preserving the moisture and preventing the soil getting too hard soak up new water.
I think once you mulch a small portion of your veggies and see the difference it makes, you will never go without again, especially if there is not a lot of rain. I find mulching keep the soil moist for at least 5 times as long as no mulching. Even those lovely leaves would work well.
I love how you give your little man the freedom to roam and do his thing. I used to reel my daughter in way too much. Seeing your family makes me realize I’ll need to let my grand kids get messy and let them have space to be and explore. Can’t wait for my daughter to make me a Grandmom because I’m following your lead!
Crusoe's new haircut has transformed him from toddler to little boy! Great find with the water pipes. That will make it so much easier to irrigate the vines. I suggest putting in a multiple hose splitter at the pump to control the pump's output so you can only turn on the lines for the pool and irrigation at that site individually. I'd still keep the cutoff bibs at the distal sites too. The transformation of your quinta over the past year is amazing! Your land has to feel very loved with the transformations you've made.
He has definitely transformed into a toddler now Nanci! Thanks so much for your suggestion regarding the irrigation, will definitely keep that in mind 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Glorious Sunday to all, all is well in the Newby farm, vegetables growing, pool being cleaned, Crusoe at his best in the garden and Sawyer becoming more and more lovable. Nice to meet and know more from your cousin Nicole and her beauty products. Wish her and her husband safe return home. Cheers to you all Tara and John enjoy your pool days, summer will be hot🌄🌅🏖️🏡🇵🇹🙏🙏🙏🥰💖🌺🦋
All is well on the farm Joanne, we are so happy with how everything is turning out. Thank you for your well wishes to Nicole, she will be back in a few weeks time for a bit and then she heads back to South Africa. Sending you lots of love friend 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
We get full, lovely content every time you post your daily progress on the lawn and gardens! I actually feel a bit lazy sitting here while you three work your bums off! I'm inclined to get up every once in awhile to get something done while I listen happily while you crack on! 🥰🤩
Love your new opening and ending music and ary of your family. So creative and happy. Crusoe is always a JOY to watch helping you. I am so excited about your new discovery. I can hardly wait to see Sawyer in Crusoe's foot steps. Every week your Sweet Farm is becoming more and more amazing. Congrads on One Year!!! Always Donna USA
🌞🌱💕Happy Sunday Newby family! Thank you for once again making my beginning of a new week so much lighter! The garden looks so amazing - can’t wait to see the tomatoes reddening on the vine :) also thank you for watching out for the little creatures - salamanders - because they all help out in way or the other on your farm! 🦎🦎🦎 Wishing you a happy sunny week - well hopefully some thundershowers mixed in!
How amazingly things grow so fast because weather and rain quickly change-you will soon a good strong garden 😊...and how cute and very inteligente is Crusoe and a hair cut just made start looking just like a little boy, no more a baby 👶...and his adorable brother looks just like him🤗
Thanks for the lovely comment Ilona, I couldn't agree more about Crusoe's haircut. He looks more like a toddler now. Thanks so much for watching friend 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Cruseo is such a clever wee boy, working out that he needed to lift his wheelbarrow and spade over the rut in the garden, always a pleasue watching your videos x
Oh, those chickens and rooster running to see you was so sweet. Looks like you are getting the irrigation system up and running. This summer will be so much better tor you Tara as you won't be carrying a baby bump around. Little Sawyer has such a huge beautiful smile. John i am so glad you dont do the tree pruning en masse and that you go back the next day to see if more needs doing. I hope you and your husband enjoy your travelling Nicole. Crusoe getting stuck with his shovel and wheelbarrow, then solving it by just picking it up and carrying it shows he has the same problem solving mnd as his daddy. X
Another super episode. Thanks for sharing your life on the farm, in such a happy, positive way. Crusoe has grown so much, a proper little boy who has a love for the land and a joy in helping. Mom and Dad, your patience is to be admired. Sawyer is growing too and look forward to see him start toddling around soon. Much love ❤
Finally the swimming pool has come back to its formal glory, what an excellent job, Tara, John and Crusoe!! The leaves will be food for your food, very right again. Carrying on with dayly projects is now a dayly success. So pleased to watch how you overcome new discoveries. And Crusoe following you wishing to help... reminding you the noughy bamboo.. thanks for sharing this with us ❤
Water water 💦 everywhere! Your delight with the discovery of new water sources on your land was like watching an exciting mini adventure movie; without the drama of having to fight off wild creatures (salamanders) and jump off cliffs to the water below! 😂❤ Thanks again for sharing your fun! By the way, your cousin is so sweet and lovely.
Water everywhere Lauren! We couldn't be happier! We love that this discovery reminded you of such an exciting adventure movie haha Thanks so much for watching friend 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Tara, the next time you have a project like cleaning out the pool, invest in either a transfer shovel, which is the same size as your digging shovel that you used, but it has a horizontal edge, which allows you to just scoop up what you want to pick up. Alternatively, you can get a scoop shovel, that you would use for farm animal bedding, or snow. Both of these implements are really helpful on a Homestead. I feel like y'all have used a pressure washer on other things at the farm. If so, this would be an ideal application for a pressure washer use. If I'm wrong, go get yourself one… What about incorporating drip irrigation with the gravity fed line?
The veggie garden is getting better and bigger every time you upload a new vlog ,i love to see the patience Crusoe has when his wheelbarrow doesn't did what he wanted 😊so relaxed he carry'd it towards you Tara Can't wait until i discover Portugal only 3 weeks until my holiday starts Loveley family Newby see you wednesday ,have a nice week👋👍🙏
We are so proud of our veggie garden Adrienne, so excited about everything growing there. We know you are going to love Portugal friend. Thanks so much for watching and we will see you on Wednesday 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Crusoe had so many skills gif his age ,I’m allways amazed ! The fact that he’s allways ready to help and knows exactly what to do it’s just unbelievable!! I love nêsperas,I heavenly had them in years ,it’s very rare to find them here in the states!!Im hoping to buy a três and plant it!! You be accomplished so much ,the vegetable garden looks amazing, great work huys
Thank you for your lovely compliment Dina, we are so proud of our little guy. We are so happy we have a tree on the farm, a family favourite for sure! Thanks so much for watching friend 🍑🌱😊❤️🇵🇹
I agree! Most of the US is too cold for loquats. They need to be grown in zone 8 or above. They aren't grown commercially here because they don't ship well.
Hello John, Tara, Crusoe and Sawyer……great to be able to see you get your irrigation system up and hopefully…by now….running well! How marvellous that a year in and the farm is still coming up trumps. Safe travels to Nicole and her hubby and I’m sure we will see them again soon. Happy Sunday folks…Best wishes and ❤ Julie 😊
Hello Julie. We are so excited about the new discoveries on the farm and can't help but think that there are more! Thanks so much for watching and spending your Sunday with us friend. Sending you lots of love 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
I don' t know if you learned this in your research but if you put fruit in you compost.. you will get fruit flies and they will kill you fruit trees..they love to lay their eggs in fruit..I live in Florida...we battle the fruit flys for all fruits we grow...love your joy and all you guys add to the world..especially your vote for the future with your beautiful boys!
Each time you find out where a pipe goes make a map for future reference. The garden looks great. Crusoe is making leaps and bounds on his helping ability and learning new skills daily. Tara is very protective of t😊he trees. Taking weight off of the down hill side of the trees takes pressure off of it falling over down hill.
Hey there Newybys! Happy Sunday!🙏🏻 Crusoe has the best classroom ever ... the outdoors!❣️ Bring back the pool, put a light transparent canopy over it!😊
Awesome. Crusoe's haircut in the back reminded me of Dennis the Menace. It was a TV show an comic book back when l was a kid. I'm 71 so it was a while ago. His hair in the back stood up. Your farm is lovely. So love watching your videos. Your chickens like it there an they don't want to miss anything. It's so cute to see them following you.
Chickens will go back to their breeding box to lay eggs, so make sure they have access. They usually lay in the morning….. that has been my experience. I let my girls out around 10:am and the late layers will go back to lay. Good luck! Bamboo for a name! Or Bam and Boo
Highly highly recommended for "food for our food" and "We can all go and have a look" including the audience in the event. It's such an awesome journey.
Might I suggest, as a swimming pool owner for most of my life for you to get a leaf strainer with the long extension pole for pools. Daily, swipe out the leaves. Tree shade is great, but not at the expense of making your water-fouled and blue pool paint stained. Reshaping your oak tree as John suggests will help your plumb. You can put a shade sail over your pool area to provide shade for you and to keep your water debris free.
Hello the Newby family, My wife and i have just managed to catch up to this episode. We have watched all your videos from the start of your farm purchase and build. We live in Scotland and i can assure you that you are doing a great job on all the tasks we have seen so far. Keep up the great work and do not give up on your ideal life, a lot of people would give their right arm to do what you are doing. Onwards and upwards, and keep making those great changes. Mike & Sheena Fletcher xx
I love watching how Crusoe solves the problems navigating his wheelbarrow! Preparing nêsperas is such a messy job…I’ve only tried making chutney but can’t wait to see how your pickles turn out…such an easy recipe! You can never have too much basil! 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱
Good Day Tara! You have some algae malingering in your plunge pool. THe best way to clear that up is the addition of household bleach. Is household bleach available in Portugal? You likely can add one gallon of bleach distributed around the edge/sides/perimeter of the pool. Household bleach will eradicate the algae and be neutralized in the process. If one gallon does not completely, clear the greenish cast of the water, add another. There is so much organic material in the area it is unlikely you can overdo it. All the best! 😊
Hi Tara, I usually buy a small vase of basil in the supermarket and then I divide it in multiple plants and durinhg Summer I have a lot of basil. It is great! Your hard work continues. Congratulations!
Hi Newbys We've been following your journey with glee, thank you for the real life content, no frills, no fake, just real. I might have missed this so apologies if you've already shared...please share more about who did your closing jingle and animation. Thanks a mil xox
All around your homestead, things are growing, blooming, thriving❤❤❤ Figuring out the hidden connections and making it all work for you is thrilling! Crusoe is so precious, as is baby Sawyer😍😍 I'm going to try the basil trick...we have lots of tomato plants which need companions🤩 And I LOVE the homestead map...puts it all in perspective🙌🙌🙌 Stay safe, be well and see ya next time👋👋👋👋
Crusoe est passé au stade de petit garçon avec sa coupe de cheveux. Je suis ravie de votre méthode d'éducation cela me rappelle mon enfance. 🤩❤️❤️❤️❤️🇫🇷
I 💜 your videos. I especially love the map drawn at the end, with the animation. How wonderful! Hearing the ideas of moving water using gates really reminded me of farms in Northern Japan because they have little channels and gates in order to control where the water goes.
I'm so happy your family is thriving in Portugal. I miss Portugal 🇵🇹 Born and raised there to the age of 6 before we immigrated in the 70s. Are you guys learning Portuguese? I know. It's not an easy language to learn, mostly because of the pronunciation, I think. So many Portuguese immigrated to GB (I think you guys are originally from there) that it fills me heart that you guys ventured out to Portugal 🇵🇹 and making it your own home as well.
Crusoe is definitely the smartest little fella ! Picked that wheelbarrow right up ⬆️ !!! He’s so cute 🥰. And Sawyer is too !!!! Loquat pickles ? I’d never heard of that… but I would love to taste one !!!
Thank you so much Annie, we are so proud of him. He problem solved that so well. We will definitely let you know how the loquat pickle turns out 🍑🌱😊❤️🇵🇹
Happy Sunday, Friends! 🌞 I bet you can't wait to make a SPLASH in your pool! 💦 Pickled 🥒 loquats SOUNDS scrumptious, YUM ME! 😋 See you on Wednesday! ✌️ Lots of hugs, Mikio 😊💚
I absolutely love watching your boys. They are some of the cutest little guys. Crusoe helped getting pool ready because he knows how great it will feel when he’s in it. I bet Sawyer will too. How exciting for you to keep finding surprises on your farm. I’ll be curious about your pickles taste. It was so nice for you to be able to have family visit. Take care.
We are so proud of both our little boys and what they have been able to achieve. Soon they will both be running around on the farm. We always love it when family comes to visit 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Cruseo struggled to push his wheel barrow due to his spade handle too long,he worked out what to do by picking up barrow and spade to carry, he is so smart for his age. What about covering your pool in winter so you don't have to have a big clear up when you want to fill it I spring. ❤
Hahahahaha!!! Crusoe I love you!!! AND I love your wellies!!! Grown ups of the happy family, you've got to make sturdy iron (that which is in 10x10 or something like that squares) covers for all your open water dumps. You just turn down the ends all around, you cover it with fine mesh and your pool, the rest of the small dumps are safe from falling leaves or falling children and salamanders.!!! Keep up the joy!!! See you on Wednesday!!#✌🌻🐝🌈
Just love watching your journey on your land! It reminds so much of when my two boys were little and our family built a straw bale house by hand on our 30 acres here in Australia. We also grew most of our own food and had chickens and a peacock! I can totally relate to all the problem solving required on a farm and the frustrations that can come at times with lack of water or too much water etc. You have a gorgeous piece of land and buildings there. Wishing you all the very best for achieving all your goals. You have done amazingly well so far and your little ones are delightful. Enjoy every moment because time really does fly by.💖🌟😊
A good suggestion -as I own a house and pool similar in France… At the end of summer place a large plastic tarpaulin sheet on the bottom of the pool -then the following spring it is easy to gather up all four corners together and carry out the foliage
Have you ever considered rabbits? in Hawaii they keep them in transportable cages which they then move about the lawn. The rabbits mow and fertilize for you. They reproduce like, well, rabbits so you can make Rabbit Stew and/or sell/give some to neighbors and friends.
Crusoe looks so grown up since he got a hair cut! Awh, it's a little bit sad when they grow up, you want to forever hold onto that 'baby' stage. Yet you do adjust, especially when they become more independant, so you don't need to keep a hawk-eye on them all the time. Thus is life. 😅🤣👍
An idea from someone who lives in Oporto, relatively nearby you. That structure with a little door right above your tank looks to me like something we can call a 'Mina.' A mina is a natural water spring where you can harvest water without the use of electricity! Check it out and tell me what you found! Best of luck, José.
Glad you're figuring out the pipes and water system on the farm. I know from my own family"s experience, that a water source can make or break the farm. We all could use some rain. Here in Michigan, US, we haven't had rain in weeks. Hoping the wildfires in Canada can be put out. It's been hazy down here for almost two weeks. The northern forests of Michigan are getting so dry (we border with Canada) making fires a real possibility.
You are one of the few families I follow where you know how to cut with a good knife! It increases how I relate to you - funny, huh? Just a mention on how I grow my basil; on the windowsill above my kitchen sick, no soil, water only. My own way of using hydroponics - see you next time!
That pool is a lifesaver! Just one (rather obvious) suggestion for next year -- pool cover! The best way to deal with work is to eliminate the need for it.
Just laughed so much when Crusoe was asked if he needed help, and he just lifted the wheelbarrow and spade, and ignored the question, such an independent little soul. The swimming pool is looking great, so pleased you were able to save the salamanders. I’ll be curious to know how the pickle turns out. Lucky you managed to keep some fruit for it with your boys around. Happy Sunday and take care xx
He is a very independent little one friend haha we will definitely let you know how the pickle turns out. Happy Sunday and Thanks so much for watching 🍑🌱😊❤️🇵🇹
When Crusoe struggled with the barrow and spade and suddenly lifted both up and carried them over the undulating ground.... what a clever moment, so impressive for such a tiny tot💞.
Thank you Moira, we were also really proud of him and how he problem solved that situation ❤️❤️❤️
I was cheering for him!
a big boy now......hugs.....
Great job all of you. Your garden is looking awesome.
I was very impressed with that, as well, lol!!!🎉👏🏼😊
That pool is gonna be next level in the summer 😍
We can't wait Theo & Bee! Going to be a life saver, you will have to come and try it out soon 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
I bet I will be I can’t wait to see you four enjoying 😊
You four have no idea how grateful I’m for your videos such of loving human beings 😊 i love seen Crusoe walking barefoot connecting to Gaia
I would say you picked the best area to homestead, not like two families in north italy. They have to dig out floors, sump pumps, heavy stone roof to repudding.
It was such fun watching u guys. The little ones become clever very quick on a farm. Enjoy it.

I totaly agree
Great job on cleaning the pool Tara and Crusoe. I see evenings in the pool with a glass something cool to drink after a hard days work. 🌸
Love watching John and crusoe solve problems. Tara you are doing so well with the veggies.🙂
Great Family project! Crusoe’s hair cut so cute; big boy potty trained and haircut😂❤
So much in just one year…new kitchen, tiny house finished, vegetables growing, fruit trees growing, a swimming pool, greenhouse, and chickens! Well done Newbys!
A lot has happened Lynn and we are so proud of what we have been able to accomplish 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡

Morning John and Tara, please make a cover for the pool.
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
I agree. Very dangerous for wildlife, chickens and children when open.
Hi there friends. Good point. Crusoe is not my only concern regarding the covering of the pool but the debris that will get into said pool.👍

I can hardly wait to see Sawyer in Crusoe's foot steps. Every week your Sweet Farm is becoming more and more amazing. Congrads on One Year!!! Always Donna USA
We are so happy to hear that Donna, thanks so much for all of your support. It means the world 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
🌞🌱💕Happy Sunday Newby family!
Happy Sunday Lamp Family. Thank you for sharing your day with us. We love finding beautiful creatures on our farm and taking care of them 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
How amazingly things grow so fast because weather and rain quickly change-you will soon a good strong garden 😊...and how cute and very inteligente is Crusoe and a hair cut just made start looking just like a little boy, no more a baby 👶...and his adorable brother looks just like him🤗
Thanks for the lovely comment Ilona, I couldn't agree more about Crusoe's haircut.
We are so proud of him Sheila. Thanks so much for watching friend 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
The chickens have really become part of the family Mary haha Thanks so much for your lovely comment friend 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Much love ❤
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Finally the swimming pool has come back to its formal glory, what an excellent job, Tara, John and Crusoe!! The leaves will be food for your food, very right again.
Carrying on with dayly projects is now a dayly success. So pleased to watch how you overcome new discoveries. And Crusoe following you wishing to help... reminding you the noughy bamboo.. thanks for sharing this with us ❤
Thank you so much for your lovely comment Luisa. We are loving our new discoveries and hopefully we have some more somewhere on the farm. 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Crusoe carrying the wheelbarrow...Iol!!! Absolutely too precious!!!
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Great idea Darrin, thanks so much for the suggestion 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
The veggie garden is getting better and bigger every time you upload a new vlog ,i love to see the patience Crusoe has when his wheelbarrow doesn't did what he wanted 😊so relaxed he carry'd it towards you Tara
Can't wait until i discover Portugal only 3 weeks until my holiday starts
Loveley family Newby see you wednesday ,have a nice week👋👍🙏
We are so proud of our veggie garden Adrienne, so excited about everything growing there. We know you are going to love Portugal friend. Thanks so much for watching and we will see you on Wednesday 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡

Thank you for putting out your Sunday vlogs, early. I’m heading out to my garden, but my ritual on Sundays is to watch your fun family first!
Thank you for always watching Hope 😊🙏🏼❤️🇵🇹
Do in swiming pool the drain hole in the lowest corner. You can keep it open all winter so that rainwater doesn't fill up
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
I cant get over how different Crusoe looks with his hair cut, makes him look more grown up and he is only two lol x
Thanks for the reminder Nancy 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Each time you find out where a pipe goes make a map for future reference. The garden looks great. Crusoe is making leaps and bounds on his helping ability and learning new skills daily. Tara is very protective of t😊he trees. Taking weight off of the down hill side of the trees takes pressure off of it falling over down hill.
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Doesn't Crusoe look so grown-up with his hair cut bless him..the chickens make me smile following you everywhere its so nice to be loved xx😊
His haircut definitely makes him look a lot older Pauline! ❤️❤️❤️
Love Crusoe’s haircut makes him look so grown up. He is such a happy lad helping you both out xx
😊🙏🏼❤️🇵🇹
I had no idea what a loquat was. Thank you for sharing your lives. I love your channel.
🍑🌱😊❤️🇵🇹
Amazing parents.
❤️❤️❤️
Your homestead reminds me that when my sister and myself stopped at my uncle's farm in our school holidays, memories never forgotten.
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Another week nearly gone, and we will see you again tomorrow, we loved being with you and are so impressed with everything you do as a family, xx❤🌞🤗
Hey there Newybys! Happy Sunday!🙏🏻 Crusoe has the best classroom ever ... the outdoors!❣️ Bring back the pool, put a light transparent canopy over it!😊
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
You can put quite a few basil cuttings in each jar! Looks amazing, great show.
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Dennis the Menace 😂 love it Conni. Thanks so much for watching friend, we always love hearing from you 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Love watching the progress on the farm..the boys are adorable!!
❤️❤️❤️
Chickens will go back to their breeding box to lay eggs, so make sure they have access. They usually lay in the morning….. that has been my experience. I let my girls out around 10:am and the late layers will go back to lay. Good luck!
Bamboo for a name! Or Bam and Boo
🐔🥚🏡❤️🇵🇹
Highly highly recommended for "food for our food" and "We can all go and have a look" including the audience in the event. It's such an awesome journey.
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Might I suggest, as a swimming pool owner for most of my life for you to get a leaf strainer with the long extension pole for pools. Daily, swipe out the leaves. Tree shade is great, but not at the expense of making your water-fouled and blue pool paint stained. Reshaping your oak tree as John suggests will help your plumb. You can put a shade sail over your pool area to provide shade for you and to keep your water debris free.
Thanks for the suggestion friend 💦👩🏼🌾🧹🏡❤️🇵🇹
Hello the Newby family, My wife and i have just managed to catch up to this episode. We have watched all your videos from the start of your farm purchase and build. We live in Scotland and i can assure you that you are doing a great job on all the tasks we have seen so far. Keep up the great work and do not give up on your ideal life, a lot of people would give their right arm to do what you are doing. Onwards and upwards, and keep making those great changes. Mike & Sheena Fletcher xx
Thank you so much Mike and Sheena. Your support means so much to us ❤️❤️
I love watching how Crusoe solves the problems navigating his wheelbarrow! Preparing nêsperas is such a messy job…I’ve only tried making chutney but can’t wait to see how your pickles turn out…such an easy recipe! You can never have too much basil! 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱
🍑🌱😊❤️🇵🇹
Good Day Tara! You have some algae malingering in your plunge pool. THe best way to clear that up is the addition of household bleach. Is household bleach available in Portugal? You likely can add one gallon of bleach distributed around the edge/sides/perimeter of the pool. Household bleach will eradicate the algae and be neutralized in the process. If one gallon does not completely, clear the greenish cast of the water, add another. There is so much organic material in the area it is unlikely you can overdo it. All the best! 😊
Hi Steve, thanks for the suggestion friend. I am sure bleach is available here, will have a look for it 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Hi Tara, I usually buy a small vase of basil in the supermarket and then I divide it in multiple plants and durinhg Summer I have a lot of basil. It is great!
Your hard work continues. Congratulations!
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Hi Newbys
We've been following your journey with glee, thank you for the real life content, no frills, no fake, just real.
I might have missed this so apologies if you've already shared...please share more about who did your closing jingle and animation.
Thanks a mil xox
Hi Sarah, we are so happy to hear that friend. We made use of a freelance artist to do the animation at the end 😊🙏🏼❤️🇵🇹
I’m always sad when your video ends. Just love your beautiful family and the life you are creating.
💦👩🏼🌾🧹🏡❤️🇵🇹
There are net that you could put up on your entrance door to stop mosquitoes and fly from Amazon.
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Water yea ! Love Crusoe’s haircut. The chickens running after you, checking what’s going on, is funny. Good luck on the water system.
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
All around your homestead, things are growing, blooming, thriving❤❤❤ Figuring out the hidden connections and making it all work for you is thrilling! Crusoe is so precious, as is baby Sawyer😍😍 I'm going to try the basil trick...we have lots of tomato plants which need companions🤩 And I LOVE the homestead map...puts it all in perspective🙌🙌🙌 Stay safe, be well and see ya next time👋👋👋👋
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Crusoe looks so grown up with his haircut , hope your having a lovely week .
He does doesn't he Yve! So grown up now ❤️❤️❤️
Oak trees are known to dropping there branches / Limbs known as Widow makers
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Crusoe est passé au stade de petit garçon avec sa coupe de cheveux. Je suis ravie de votre méthode d'éducation cela me rappelle mon enfance. 🤩❤️❤️❤️❤️🇫🇷
💦👩🏼🌾🧹🏡❤️🇵🇹
I 💜 your videos. I especially love the map drawn at the end, with the animation. How wonderful! Hearing the ideas of moving water using gates really reminded me of farms in Northern Japan because they have little channels and gates in order to control where the water goes.
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
I'm so happy your family is thriving in Portugal. I miss Portugal 🇵🇹 Born and raised there to the age of 6 before we immigrated in the 70s. Are you guys learning Portuguese? I know. It's not an easy language to learn, mostly because of the pronunciation, I think. So many Portuguese immigrated to GB (I think you guys are originally from there) that it fills me heart that you guys ventured out to Portugal 🇵🇹 and making it your own home as well.
We absolutely love it here Carlos. We are learning the language, slowly but surely getting there. Thanks so much for watching friend 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
We will definitely let you know how the loquat pickle turns out 🍑🌱😊❤️🇵🇹
I love Caruso's new hair cut, it makes him look even cuter. I also love how he takes his No.1 helper position so seriously.
❤️❤️❤️
Happy Sunday, Friends! 🌞
I bet you can't wait to make
a SPLASH in your pool! 💦
Pickled 🥒 loquats SOUNDS
scrumptious, YUM ME! 😋
See you on Wednesday! ✌️
Lots of hugs, Mikio 😊💚
glad to see the pool cleaned-you'll get so much use out of it this summer!
We can't wait Melanie! Thanks so much for watching friend 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
He did such a great job at problem solving Sheila, we are so proud of him. Covering the pool would be a great idea, thanks for sharing 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Crusoe is loving working in the veggie garden 🪴 so beautiful 👋👋👋👋👋👋♥️
Thank you Helen, we are so proud of our little guy 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Hahahahaha!!! Crusoe I love you!!! AND I love your wellies!!! Grown ups of the happy family, you've got to make sturdy iron (that which is in 10x10 or something like that squares) covers for all your open water dumps. You just turn down the ends all around, you cover it with fine mesh and your pool, the rest of the small dumps are safe from falling leaves or falling children and salamanders.!!! Keep up the joy!!! See you on Wednesday!!#✌🌻🐝🌈
That is a great idea Meli, thanks so much for sharing. We will look into that! Thanks so much for watching friend 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Very well done JOHN sorting out the water pressure. 🤗
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Just love watching your journey on your land! It reminds so much of when my two boys were little and our family built a straw bale house by hand on our 30 acres here in Australia. We also grew most of our own food and had chickens and a peacock! I can totally relate to all the problem solving required on a farm and the frustrations that can come at times with lack of water or too much water etc. You have a gorgeous piece of land and buildings there. Wishing you all the very best for achieving all your goals. You have done amazingly well so far and your little ones are delightful. Enjoy every moment because time really does fly by.💖🌟😊
That sounds amazing Gopali! Thanks so much for watching friend 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
A good suggestion
-as I own a house and pool similar in France…
At the end of summer place a large plastic tarpaulin sheet on the bottom of the pool -then the following spring it is easy to gather up all four corners together and carry out the foliage
I know right Gracie, my heart can't take it! Thanks so much for watching friend ❤️❤️❤️
Get a rolling tarp on top of your swimming pool, for overwintering 😮
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
An idea from someone who lives in Oporto, relatively nearby you. That structure with a little door right above your tank looks to me like something we can call a 'Mina.' A mina is a natural water spring where you can harvest water without the use of electricity! Check it out and tell me what you found! Best of luck, José.
Loving Crusoe’s haircut and the garden looks great too.
❤️❤️❤️
Waaaaaaater🎉🎉🎉 so cool. And, Crusoe is talking clearly and what a great helping hand he is!!!
❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful job! Living a life of new discoveries every day without leaving . I hope you have rain soon.
Thanks so much Stacia, we love finding all these wonderful things on our farm 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Yup we had smoke from Canada here in Northern Minnesota!!
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
❤ love your video and to see how much your sons are growing. Pool looks great. Have fun ❤
Thank you so much Audrey 👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
You are one of the few families I follow where you know how to cut with a good knife! It increases how I relate to you - funny, huh? Just a mention on how I grow my basil; on the windowsill above my kitchen sick, no soil, water only. My own way of using hydroponics - see you next time!
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
You go Crusoe! Lift that wheelbarrow and shovel!! Yes, good thinking!!!
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Make a cover for the pool
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
That pool is a lifesaver! Just one (rather obvious) suggestion for next year -- pool cover! The best way to deal with work is to eliminate the need for it.
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Cruso is adorable. He will be the perfect gardener one day he allready has learnd way more than city children🤣
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
Just laughed so much when Crusoe was asked if he needed help, and he just lifted the wheelbarrow and spade, and ignored the question, such an independent little soul. The swimming pool is looking great, so pleased you were able to save the salamanders. I’ll be curious to know how the pickle turns out. Lucky you managed to keep some fruit for it with your boys around. Happy Sunday and take care xx
He is a very independent little one friend haha we will definitely let you know how the pickle turns out. Happy Sunday and Thanks so much for watching 🍑🌱😊❤️🇵🇹
It might help to figure out a way to cover the pool to keep the leaves and muck out of the pool.
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
I always love your vlogs you are so interesting and Crusoe is such a lovely little boy and is willing to do anything that his daddy does.❤️❤️❤️
💦👩🏼🌾🧹🏡❤️🇵🇹
Young willow leaves can be put in water and macerated. It is great for transplant shock and a tonic to new plants or those that nead some spunk.
👩🏼🌾💧🌱❤️🇵🇹🏡
