    We love using cabbage this way. I cut around and save the core and put the bottom part in a little water. It's producing roots and I have 3 new cabbages sprouting!! Once the root system looks strong enough, I will plant it. Have you ever done that before? I hope it will produce. LOL ! wish me luck! I enjoyed your video.

      I worked with a lady about 40 years ago. She would cut them and lettuce into 4 and plant. She said they would regrow.

    I want a dehydrated vegetable mix for convenience in making homemade instant soups. the ones on amazon are very CARROT heavy and it makes things taste sweet. I decided to look into dehydrating the more savory veggies that I want like the cabbage and onion. Thanks for the simple boost. I knew it was done this way but it helps to see someone go through it to watch out for simple mistakes and nice tips.
    Cheers!

    All my cabbage turns a little brown when dehydrating and my long-term supplies vacuum-sealed in jars kept in a dark room are getting browner by the month. Another dehydrating RUclips said it needed to be blanched for long term storage. I just did 2 pounds blanched to see and it's almost as browned as non-blanched. Does anyone have problems with cabbage browning and then going MORE brown in storage?

    For dehydrated foods, is it best to store in glass or plastic jars? I have very few plastic ( mostly old pb jars ) but I have a food saver and oxygen absorbers. I dehydrated some sweet potatoes when I first started out and they looked really wrinkly lol so I threw them out.

    HI. What made you choose this specific dehydrator? I'm thinking about getting one but I mainly hear ppl talk about the Presto Brand.

    • @cathyann6835
      @cathyann6835 4 года назад +1

      This brand is very good but expensive. The Presto is good too but much more affordable. I have a Presto. If this will be your first dehydrator, go with the cheaper one to see how you'll do using it. Don't waste money if you don't do it routinely.

      You could use Mylar bags, or pop the oxygen absorbers right in the jar and screw the lid on real tight, it should seal right up! 😉
