As a child born from an abusive relationship, watching Amouranth breakdown was hard to watch. She wasn’t just scared, she was ashamed, confused, vulnerable, everything an abuser makes the victim feel because they need control. And they can only get that from making others small. Pathetic. I grew up in a very violent household from 5-18 years old, and I can definitely see in her face that she's genuinely scared of him. The guy's tone is so cringe, too. Honestly the fact that she unmuted her stream for her husband’s nastiness to be heard and documented was the best thing she could have done… even moreso because of that bizarre question her assistant asked right before the stream cut off. I just find it strange and confusing that he would use donating some money to charity as a threat. (After all, donations to charity give the rich huge tax breaks.) Early in the video Charlie says she makes like $2million a week. What kind of threat is "I'm gonna burn less than half a week's profits on some charity for pigeons"? Why would that scare her? She would make it back with interest instantly. Why would $750k make them unable to make a downpayment if she's making so much every month? Some people even deny the fact that their partner is abusive, it gets to them that hard.
My father was that way sometimes I wouldn’t hear him or my mom wouldn’t and he would just EXPLODE. One time I remember him walking out and saying good morning to which I responded good morning. He didn’t hear me, and he dragged me up by my arm and screamed at me for, “not properly greeting him.” I feel sooo beyond bad for her. Living with someone like that is a nightmare every second of everyday. You get “in trouble” for something as simple as breathing wrong.
Something similar happened to me where me and my sister was playing with bubbles in the bathroom and we were laughing at our dad I forgot why but I was like 4-5 years old. When we got out so he can use the restroom we were in my grandmas room. Then when he left I went back to get the bubbles but on my way their he was near the entrance to downstairs so he looked at me and said “come here” then I did and he grabbed me and starting running towards my moms rooms and threw me on the bed and complained “they were laughing at me and I saw tiny bubbles in the bathroom.” Don’t remember everything but that’s basically the gist of it
My dad would scream at me for not responding to his texts immediately at school when it was against the rules at school to be on your phone at all. I got yelled at by my teachers so many times right after being SCREAMED at by my dad.
I just escaped my ex 7 months ago he was like that and I have two kids one of them was his son. But it got to a point where we were scared every moment of the day for almost a year straight. Now I’m in counseling and suffer from ptsd and depression and extreme anxiety. One time I was trying to leave him and he held me hostage in his room and when I tried to scream for anyone to call the cops he gagged me with a washcloth yeah & that was not even the worst of what he’s done to me. I’m convinced some ppl are truly evil without having a backstory that made them that way.

Saying "just leave" undermines what they've gone through, however, no matter what they do staying is never going to fix it either when it's that bad. Not with people like him, eventually they DO need to get out or continue living in hell... A lot of times staying ends up resulting in tragedy all the same.

What’s so frustrating about domestic abuse is, especially a large content creator like amouranth could literally raise an army in an hour but the mental and emotional grasp that an abuser has over their victim is so all encompassing that it leaves not only the victim so powerless but others around them as well. I feel for her so much I got out of a similar situation this year. I was lucky enough for him to leave me but i still stuggle with "missing him" at times. It sucks cause you hate that person and you know they are basically killing you but you just can't leave. Her airing this publicly is probably the best thing she could of done IMO. Abusers in my experience, thrive knowing that you are alone and have no support. Once you expose them they lose that. The fact that she made it public, she now has friends, family and a large community by her side. I've never been a fan of Amouranth, but I am supportive of her in this situation.

As someone who had an abusive father who I have cut off recently this was a terrible reminder of what I went through. I think a lot of people don't realize that abusers don't come out the gate swinging like this. When you first start dating them they're perfectly sweet and normal. Then very slowly, their dark side starts to appear. Maybe one day they get a little too upset at your waiter for taking too long, but you brush it off as them having a bad day. It's little things that by themselves are negligible. Then they start happening a bit more often. It happens so gradually that by the time you realize things aren't okay, it's often too late to simply walk away. It's the "boiling frog" syndrome.
In my experience people have every control over themselves and are capable of walking away. In a lot of cases with no kids, it’s extremely easy. The thing people like to forget is that a lot of people who are abused stay in the relationship because they love the person. And put themselves down so much to the point where they don’t want to walk away. The choice is always there and it’s always easy. People just make it harder than it is.

My father was that way sometimes I wouldn’t hear him or my mom wouldn’t and he would just EXPLODE. One time I remember him walking out and saying good morning to which I responded good morning. He didn’t hear me, and he dragged me up by my arm and screamed at me for, “not properly greeting him.” I feel sooo beyond bad for her. Living with someone like that is a nightmare every second of everyday. You get “in trouble” for something as simple as breathing wrong.
Something similar happened to me where me and my sister was playing with bubbles in the bathroom and we were laughing at our dad I forgot why but I was like 4-5 years old. When we got out so he can use the restroom we were in my grandmas room. Then when he left I went back to get the bubbles but on my way their he was near the entrance to downstairs so he looked at me and said “come here” then I did and he grabbed me and starting running towards my moms rooms and threw me on the bed and complained “they were laughing at me and I saw tiny bubbles in the bathroom.” Don’t remember everything but that’s basically the gist of it
My dad would scream at me for not responding to his texts immediately at school when it was against the rules at school to be on your phone at all. I got yelled at by my teachers so many times right after being SCREAMED at by my dad.
I just escaped my ex 7 months ago he was like that and I have two kids one of them was his son. But it got to a point where we were scared every moment of the day for almost a year straight. Now I’m in counseling and suffer from ptsd and depression and extreme anxiety. One time I was trying to leave him and he held me hostage in his room and when I tried to scream for anyone to call the cops he gagged me with a washcloth yeah & that was not even the worst of what he’s done to me. This is incredibly sad but so prevalent in the industry. Since the era of pimps, sex work has been women being verbally and mentally abused and taken advantage of by the people closest to them. OnlyFans was supposed to help these people reclaim their bodies and monitize it themself but turns out one of the most successful creators on that platform is going through the same exact thing as prostitutes from a century ago. Disheartening the little we've grown as a society.

As someone who had an abusive father who I have cut off recently this was a terrible reminder of what I went through. I had the same thing of threatening to kill my pets, blaming a mishearing on me, yelling over the smallest thing and being an all around narcissistic abuser. This is absolutely terrible situation that no one deserves to go through no matter who they are.

I think a lot of people don't realize that abusers don't come out the gate swinging like this. When you first start dating them they're perfectly sweet and normal. Then very slowly, their dark side starts to appear. Maybe one day they get a little too upset at your waiter for taking too long, but you brush it off as them having a bad day. It's little things that by themselves are negligible. Then they start happening a bit more often. It happens so gradually that by the time you realize things aren't okay, it's often too late to simply walk away. It's the "boiling frog" syndrome.
This is one of the many reasons why I'm so cautious about getting into relationships.
