Far Cry is one of my favorite Franchises. Far Cry 5 is definitely in my top 3 FC games. I think they should do Far Cry 6 set in Mexico around the drug cartel with deserts and snakes and shit.
The setting of the game was like getting your imagination of being that invincible tough cool soldier mixed with that cool realistic feel of the countryside and your home. I felt like a child again playing this game but at the same time I had so much fun with the characters and the story it was a perfect game in my opinion

Joe Blow since when did Mario get praised for that? Most people have been complaining about the NSMB games and how stale they're getting. With GTA, it doesn't really need a change, GTA 4 and the single player on 5 where really good.
normally i would agree with you. but this games story is more focusing on differing ideologies and not a specfic character story. you could have made the protagonist male female, angry happy, etc etc and it would not effect this games story. IMHO its more bad than good. 90% of the game is 8/10. but the last quarter of the story is almost as bad as ME3.
Ryan Struble still though, I liked how the villains had weird, personal connections to the protagonists. You can’t really have that with a silent protagonist
You get Blood Dragon kit in FC5, if you own Blood Dragon. I have been using a sniper rifle, decked out in Blood Dragon colours, that was free in game. (No need to grind to pay for it.) There's a (free) Blood Dragon coloured car too.
I can't wait for Far Cry New Dawn that comes out in February. It's like Blood Dragon, but instead of an 80's action movie feel, it has a crazy out of this world look. Check it out on steam .
I don't know when you'll see this but there is a DLC for the game that let's you fight a "blood dragon" which is a really nice nod towards the old game.
Marathoned it 17 hours solo during this current weekend event, game is GORGEOUS, OPTIMIZED, and FUN! Never played far cry games so this was a beautiful surprise. Really felt like i took out of town weekend trip.
Andrea Tilli primal is the WORST game in far cry series Far cry 4 has beutifull scenery but the main character "Ajay" sucks, basically in fc4 character immersion sucks big time otger wise it is pretty good set in beautiful mountains of Himalaya Fc3 had the best story line with the best characters but... Fc5 has a LOT more features and has a really HUGE map If you could afford one then buy fc 5 - it's the best Otherwise buy fc3- if you love story more than scenery ( fc4 though has a helicopter too and you can ride a elephant in fc4, which you can't in fc3)
This was my first Far Cry game and I love it. The gun play is awesome, the stealth is great, the story (saves for the endings) really got me invested, and pissed off, and the exploration was a treat. That being said, he endings are terrible and none are satisfactory, the decisions some of the characters make boggle my mind, and while having a silent protagonist was neat, them having a voice would’ve solved so many problems. Like warning Eli what Jacob is doing to us, or telling Kim that leaving HC and getting help is a sane idea. Or telling Whitehorse that letting Burke keep his gun is a dumb idea. Overall, 8/10
I'm developing a theory that the first Farcry you play will be your favorite or best game Many say 3 is the best, I started on 4 and think its the best, and you started on 5 and think it's good. Havent played 6 yet but I'm going to soon, doubt itll overtake 4 as my favorite though.
@@Trippsy05 I know this is an old comment, but I completely agree. From everyone that I've talked to, it seems that their first FC game is their favorite. I think it's because the gameplay is especially fun the first time you experience it, and it feels that Ubisoft does such a poor job at changing and reinventing features between games, that it leaves a lot of the FC games feeling really similar. Still love playing them though.
Still rocking a gtx970, and im surprised how good it looks and how smooth it is. Huge letdown that its not a completely redesigned game - it needs some new life injected into it - but Good old far cry mechanics are always fun.
I have a GTX 980 BUT with a older CPU (i7 960 OC to 3.8GHz) and its not running the best for me. I have most settings on medium and im seeing fps drop to the mid 30's :( Im monitoring my CPU and GPU usage and my CPU never hits 100% on any of the cores (overall total hits a avg of 60% usage) and when I get low fps dips my GPU usage drops to the 50-60% range. I dont really know whats happening like if its just my PC OR the game it self but from looking at other peoples benchmarks it seems to be optimized.
They did a great job at improving the overall gameplay once more. The takedowns for example feel extremely powerful and for someone that plays stealthy and uses them all the time it's really refreshing. The world almost never feels empty (the north region does because it"s filled with mountains and lakes which get boring fast) and this time it's been packed with more structures and outposts than in the last Far Crys. The game looks really beautiful and is nice to look at. The members of the Seed family are well written and very charismatic, Ubisoft just knows how to create great villains. But most importantly (I never thought I'd say that to a Far Cry game) the music is absolutely amazing. The main theme is beautiful, the propaganda songs build the atmosphere very well, the list of rock music they chose for the radio is great and the Arcade music gets you instantly pumped for the multiplayer. All in all as a big Far Cry fan I'm having a ball playing this game and I can recommend it to everyone who likes good open world shooters. (Did I seriously forget to mention fishing? It's really fun but sadly repetitive)
Hey, would you say the stealth is similar, or more refined than FC3's? I was a huge fan of becoming almost ninja like with upgrades, going in with a bow and taking outposts out unseen. I've seen some people say its not at all built around stealth like FC3, and I remember FC4 departing from that aspect too. I'm still on the fence about this one and could use a second opinion.
Jordan .Lacroix Yes and no. The AI is still really dumb and you can sneak by enemies easily and you have all the perks that help you to sneak faster, do the special takedowns etc.. On the other hand the outposts are way bigger than in Far Cry 3 and you can't drag corpes after performing a takedown which basically forces you to pick up bodies and drop them into high grass if you want to draw attention or go on a rampage. Out of all 30 outposts I've captured by now I finished 29 undetected. You really only have to adept to the bigger areas and you're good. Stealth in FC5 is still exciting and rewarding. ^-^
Controls are great on pc, it really flows. I disagree re visuals, it all looks much the same to me as the previous iterations but then I'm not American. I despise the kidnapping events. I'm a 67 year old female gamer, have played a lot of the big titles, but this is so full on I'm sometimes stuck and repeating frenzied sections, and capture really spoils the immersion, plus the endless yacking on. Just leave me alone to explore without pushing me on into stuff I didn't ask for.

Do yourself a favor and play on HARD. Play many side quests to gain perks. Do not rush. This is the farcry i always wanted. The last one i played was farcry 3. But this is something TOO GOOD that i have to say... this is the best of the best. If you are looking for a shooter that suits your ninja + rambo + mad play style this is the game for you. A love letter for the FPS gamer.

Agreed. Played it with the high res texture pack recently and it still looks stunning. It had it's flaws but it was very ambitious for it's time and I ended up loving it after hating it when it first came out.
This is my first Far Cry game and I love it so far. I'd kill for scope with some actual zoom, and I have no idea why planes and helicopters top out at 30 MPH in a dive, or why every truck's speedometer shows double the actual speed... But everything else is pretty great.
The gold edition with the season pass and everything included is one of the best overall experiences/values in gaming. Easily my favorite game in the bunch, and start-to-finish, SIGNIFICANTLY more solid than all other entries. Still enjoying getting into it every once and a while and it most definitely holds up.

I got the game yesterday, beat it today. It’s my first time playing a Far Cry game and I absolutely loved it. I’m the kind if person who will painstakingly plow through a games story before doing anything else and I’ve gotta say I looooved the story. (I did play Blood Dragon but I don’t count that)
Got it for $9 - I love the environmental attention to detail. Gun play feels heavier than previous games. Writing is decent so far. Side quests and random scenarios feel like they’re building the world, which is fresh.
I think it's a great game (slightly overwhelming at first) but biggest issue with the game is save points are too far from each other. Some missions are long and chaotic so having to start over from the beginning really sucks. The second complaint is vehicle physics. It's hard to explain unless you've played it.
Tbh I love this Farcry. Just seemed like too many people were offended that this game wasn’t offensive in any fashion & called Ubisoft “scared” like wtf when I played Punisher as a kid on ps2, it wasn’t for the refreshing back story, it was because I could shove bad guys into caskets and smash their heads with windows. That’s what this game is about. Having a good time, no need for expectations on obtaining some “message”

Farcry 5 is easily my favourite, I love the open world you get to explore, it’s been designed so beautifully, with detail and secrets everywhere… you know, secrets that you have to find naturally, not climbing a radio tower to get it marked on your minimap. The story surprised me, I actually liked the premise, the gun play is fine… love stealth (although I still wish we had the option to have bladed weapons) but only blunt weapons was an interesting change. I experienced no bugs at launch, very polished with some Ubisoft jank… This game is honestly incredible and I always see myself coming back to it when I run out of other games to play.
My biggest problem with it is how damn easy and fast the resistance meter fills up like it doesnt feel balanced very well to me ,they should all three be like 25k instead of 10 ,13,13
Personally FC5 is my favourite game ever, I have played it through 3 times solo and i'm on my second co-op play-through now. The landscape and the weapons is just great, this time around i'm avoiding sniper rifles and doing everything with arrows and silenced pistols and SMG's which is so rewarding, can't recommend this game enough.
If it’s your first Far Cry game (as it was for me), I would recommend buying it as soon as you can. I understand how veteran players may get bored if it’s the same concept in every game, but overall, it’s a really good game. There is a good amount of bugs in glitches you’ll see, but a lot of the game is really realistic. Graphics are amazing, they really did well with the vehicles in first person, and the side missions and activities keep the game interesting, so it’s not a grind the entire time.
To be honest, the story in this Far Cry 5 does make it really good. It depends if you willing to listen to what they say and their intentions. Plus exploring the notes and recording to connect the pieces of the story. They also added another biblical layer to the story. Sure, the main story is that you fighting a crazy cult. But it also tells a modern version of the story of the book of revelation. To me they downgraded the graphics and physics from FC4 but the details of the story is a great improvement. Oh and the music in this game is legit af. I mean legit af!!!
I couldn't finish FC 2 because the enemies keep shooting at you, keep respawning on the same outposts. Shame that some of the mechanics that i love in that game like the map, gun jams, gun breaks doesn't make a return in the next installments... The details in that game were awesome! But i had to uninstall it.
I feel they’re okay in difficulty, i just wish the spongy enemies looked like they could soak up more damage. For example the flame troopers are only wearing an extra face mask, yet they can still take a lot of fire.
Unidad are fucking ridiculously hard to fight in tier 1 mode. about 3-4 bullets down you and they are pretty hard to kill. Losing a unidad patrol is basically impossible on harder difficulties.

Enzo Cittadino well there’s alot of reasons, shooting feels better,the graphics look better, the weapons look better, the modern setting fits perfectly with the gameplay, better vehicles, you probably didn’t notice but the AI is definitely smarter in this game which adds a bit more challenge but also makes you take the enemies more seriously.
I was very critical about it being in USA, rather than a exotic location, but OMG this is thE best Far Cry since FC3 lol.. I am having a blast.. this is Far Cry lol

Been playing the game for a while now and just realized ... I haven't seen a single horse , they should've put rideable horses in the game. It would've fit perfectly.
It's 10/10 in my book, and the plot and characters are so enthralling. Great for playthroughs and wanting to experience it all over again. And best balance on infamous/ best gunplay, awesome feel. Literally keep it installed for excuses to play it again. Oh, and the PEG radio... never felt like collecting the records cuz it was too great.

one thing I didn't really get is the parts when you get kidnapped out of nowhere and it just cuts all of the flow and stuff. I just never see it coming and have no Idea what triggers it.
At resistance levels 1 and 2 of what ever area you are in you get "Marked" and get taken down with bliss bullets. I've tried to run from it but it gets me every time.
3:49 - you talk about random cultists popping up - somewhere in the beginning of the game you’re told that they’re watching you from above (probably air support) and that they’ll get dispatched to your position if you’re on an open road or caught slipping.
The big difference from fc4 and 3 is the health system. I don't know, in fc5 i think death is inevitable during chaotic missions. Since we can't regenerate health by healing nor creating medicine with herbs. Sometimes, stealth is the only choice. Meanwhile in previous games, i enjoyed attacking enemies without stealth so much.
Been playing the game for two days now and I've been absolutely loving it. I finished one of the islands but I don't remember the name of the guy, it's the bottom one with the female character to rescue. I very much agree with the villain screen time, all the cutscenes mixed with the beautiful graphics really immerse me in the game.

first Far Cry purchase. Seems fun so far. Bought it for the unique story line and the small town, outdoorsy feel of the design. Character dialogue is pretty funny. Look forward to playing the rest of the levels.

people complain about linear missions a lot, but to me they’re not that bad. in RDR2 i think of it as the story already happened and if i want to do random open-world stuff i can do it outside missions.

I know people hated this game, but honestly it's one of my favourite games ever. In 4k it blows my mind and playing on infamous mode it gives a good challenge. The map is beautiful and massive that changes by region. The hunting and fishing is a good past time and the best way to make money. The guns work well and really make me think about what I want equipped with all the variety between an AR or a shovel canon. Would definitely recommend, especially with the reduced price And you can have a grizzly bear named Cheeseburger run around with you, so...
Completed the game and unlocked new game+ went back and tried to get the secret ending at the beginning of the game, dismissed the warning saying that it will override the last save thinking it’s just going to reset the story and keep new game+, proceeded to have all progress made completely erased. In a story game how can you only have one save. Other than that the game was really enjoyable the theming was great and the villains were eerie and disturbing, the true highlight of this game was how they managed to present the seed family in such a effective manor.
Not so happy either lmao, but yeah. Oh, at the beginning, yeah. It's really fulfilling and intriguing in every story element aside from le kidnapping but that's pure FC

Honestly, I love that your character is mute. Why is because no longer were you restricted to the characters thoughts. The rookie became an extension of yourself into the far cry universe and was controlled by your thoughts and actions.
I personally love the core gameplay of all the far cry games 4 and up, so to experience that gameplay with different settings and atmospheres is a big plus

This was my first Far Cry game and I love it. The gun play is awesome, the stealth is great, the story (saves for the endings) really got me invested, and pissed off, and the exploration was a treat. That being said, he endings are terrible and none are satisfactory, the decisions some of the characters make boggle my mind, and while having a silent protagonist was neat, them having a voice would’ve solved so many problems. Like warning Eli what Jacob is doing to us, or telling Kim that leaving HC and getting help is a sane idea. Or telling Whitehorse that letting Burke keep his gun is a dumb idea.
Overall, 8/10

I think it's because the gameplay is especially fun the first time you experience it, and it feels that Ubisoft does such a poor job at changing and reinventing features between games, that it leaves a lot of the FC games feeling really similar. Still love playing them though.

I have a GTX 980 BUT with a older CPU (i7 960 OC to 3.8GHz) and its not running the best for me. I have most settings on medium and im seeing fps drop to the mid 30's :(
Im monitoring my CPU and GPU usage and my CPU never hits 100% on any of the cores (overall total hits a avg of 60% usage) and when I get low fps dips my GPU usage drops to the 50-60% range. I dont really know whats happening like if its just my PC OR the game it self but from looking at other peoples benchmarks it seems to be optimized.

They did a great job at improving the overall gameplay once more. The takedowns for example feel extremely powerful and for someone that plays stealthy and uses them all the time it's really refreshing. The world almost never feels empty (the north region does because it"s filled with mountains and lakes which get boring fast) and this time it's been packed with more structures and outposts than in the last Far Crys. The game looks really beautiful and is nice to look at. The members of the Seed family are well written and very charismatic, Ubisoft just knows how to create great villains. But most importantly (I never thought I'd say that to a Far Cry game) the music is absolutely amazing. The main theme is beautiful, the propaganda songs build the atmosphere very well, the list of rock music they chose for the radio is great and the Arcade music gets you instantly pumped for the multiplayer. All in all as a big Far Cry fan I'm having a ball playing this game and I can recommend it to everyone who likes good open world shooters.
(Did I seriously forget to mention fishing? It's really fun but sadly repetitive)
Hey, would you say the stealth is similar, or more refined than FC3's? I was a huge fan of becoming almost ninja like with upgrades, going in with a bow and taking outposts out unseen. I've seen some people say its not at all built around stealth like FC3, and I remember FC4 departing from that aspect too.
I'm still on the fence about this one and could use a second opinion.

Jordan .Lacroix Yes and no. The AI is still really dumb and you can sneak by enemies easily and you have all the perks that help you to sneak faster, do the special takedowns etc.. On the other hand the outposts are way bigger than in Far Cry 3 and you can't drag corpes after performing a takedown which basically forces you to pick up bodies and drop them into high grass if you want to draw attention or go on a rampage. Out of all 30 outposts I've captured by now I finished 29 undetected. You really only have to adept to the bigger areas and you're good. Stealth in FC5 is still exciting and rewarding. ^-^
Controls are great on pc, it really flows. I disagree re visuals, it all looks much the same to me as the previous iterations but then I'm not American. I despise the kidnapping events. I'm a 67 year old female gamer, have played a lot of the big titles, but this is so full on I'm sometimes stuck and repeating frenzied sections, and capture really spoils the immersion, plus the endless yacking on. Just leave me alone to explore without pushing me on into stuff I didn't ask for.

Do yourself a favor and play on HARD. Play many side quests to gain perks. Do not rush. This is the farcry i always wanted. The last one i played was farcry 3. But this is something TOO GOOD that i have to say... this is the best of the best. If you are looking for a shooter that suits your ninja + rambo + mad play style this is the game for you. A love letter for the FPS gamer.

This is my first Far Cry game and I love it so far. I'd kill for scope with some actual zoom, and I have no idea why planes and helicopters top out at 30 MPH in a dive, or why every truck's speedometer shows double the actual speed... But everything else is pretty great.

Got it for $9 - I love the environmental attention to detail. Gun play feels heavier than previous games. Writing is decent so far. Side quests and random scenarios feel like they’re building the world, which is fresh.

I think it's a great game (slightly overwhelming at first) but biggest issue with the game is save points are too far from each other. Some missions are long and chaotic so having to start over from the beginning really sucks. The second complaint is vehicle physics. It's hard to explain unless you've played it.
Tbh I love this Farcry. Just seemed like too many people were offended that this game wasn’t offensive in any fashion & called Ubisoft “scared” like wtf when I played Punisher as a kid on ps2, it wasn’t for the refreshing back story, it was because I could shove bad guys into caskets and smash their heads with windows. That’s what this game is about. Having a good time, no need for expectations on obtaining some “message”

I personally loved the way joseph reacted after each of his siblings deaths. Each one affected him more and more and I enjoyed the way they acted.
Farcry 5 is easily my favourite, I love the open world you get to explore, it’s been designed so beautifully, with detail and secrets everywhere… you know, secrets that you have to find naturally, not climbing a radio tower to get it marked on your minimap. The story surprised me, I actually liked the premise, the gun play is fine… love stealth (although I still wish we had the option to have bladed weapons) but only blunt weapons was an interesting change. I experienced no bugs at launch, very polished with some Ubisoft jank… This game is honestly incredible and I always see myself coming back to it when I run out of other games to play.

Personally FC5 is my favourite game ever, I have played it through 3 times solo and i'm on my second co-op play-through now. The landscape and the weapons is just great, this time around i'm avoiding sniper rifles and doing everything with arrows and silenced pistols and SMG's which is so rewarding, can't recommend this game enough.
My favorite thing is just how fucking chaotic it is at all times

If it’s your first Far Cry game (as it was for me), I would recommend buying it as soon as you can. I understand how veteran players may get bored if it’s the same concept in every game, but overall, it’s a really good game. There is a good amount of bugs in glitches you’ll see, but a lot of the game is really realistic. Graphics are amazing, they really did well with the vehicles in first person, and the side missions and activities keep the game interesting, so it’s not a grind the entire time.
To be honest, the story in this Far Cry 5 does make it really good. It depends if you willing to listen to what they say and their intentions. Plus exploring the notes and recording to connect the pieces of the story. They also added another biblical layer to the story. Sure, the main story is that you fighting a crazy cult. But it also tells a modern version of the story of the book of revelation. To me they downgraded the graphics and physics from FC4 but the details of the story is a great improvement. Oh and the music in this game is legit af. I mean legit af!!!

I couldn't finish FC 2 because the enemies keep shooting at you, keep respawning on the same outposts. Shame that some of the mechanics that i love in that game like the map, gun jams, gun breaks doesn't make a return in the next installments... The details in that game were awesome! But i had to uninstall it.

I feel they’re okay in difficulty, i just wish the spongy enemies looked like they could soak up more damage. For example the flame troopers are only wearing an extra face mask, yet they can still take a lot of fire.
Unidad are fucking ridiculously hard to fight in tier 1 mode. about 3-4 bullets down you and they are pretty hard to kill. Losing a unidad patrol is basically impossible on harder difficulties.

Enzo Cittadino well there’s alot of reasons, shooting feels better,the graphics look better, the weapons look better, the modern setting fits perfectly with the gameplay, better vehicles, you probably didn’t notice but the AI is definitely smarter in this game which adds a bit more challenge but also makes you take the enemies more seriously.
The only thing in FC4 that really pisses me off is the stupid shangrilla quest. Besides that FC4 is a really good game.

Each time you do a quest your residence meter goes up. At each point you get a campaign section.
At resistance levels 1 and 2 of what ever area you are in you get "Marked" and get taken down with bliss bullets. I've tried to run from it but it gets me every time.

3:49 - you talk about random cultists popping up - somewhere in the beginning of the game you’re told that they’re watching you from above (probably air support) and that they’ll get dispatched to your position if you’re on an open road or caught slipping.
The big difference from fc4 and 3 is the health system. I don't know, in fc5 i think death is inevitable during chaotic missions. Since we can't regenerate health by healing nor creating medicine with herbs. Sometimes, stealth is the only choice. Meanwhile in previous games, i enjoyed attacking enemies without stealth so much.
Been playing the game for two days now and I've been absolutely loving it. I finished one of the islands but I don't remember the name of the guy, it's the bottom one with the female character to rescue. I very much agree with the villain screen time, all the cutscenes mixed with the beautiful graphics really immerse me in the game.

first Far Cry purchase. Seems fun so far. Bought it for the unique story line and the small town, outdoorsy feel of the design. Character dialogue is pretty funny. Look forward to playing the rest of the levels.
Martin Muecke it was the same thing for me I got it the first week it came out and enjoyed every hour of playing it and I didn’t play any of the previous games but I have bought them just haven’t gotten around the time to complete them
I do prefer ubisoft's open ended approach to missions over rockstar's linear missions
people complain about linear missions a lot, but to me they’re not that bad. in RDR2 i think of it as the story already happened and if i want to do random open-world stuff i can do it outside missions.

I know people hated this game, but honestly it's one of my favourite games ever. In 4k it blows my mind and playing on infamous mode it gives a good challenge. The map is beautiful and massive that changes by region. The hunting and fishing is a good past time and the best way to make money. The guns work well and really make me think about what I want equipped with all the variety between an AR or a shovel canon. Would definitely recommend, especially with the reduced price

Completed the game and unlocked new game+ went back and tried to get the secret ending at the beginning of the game, dismissed the warning saying that it will override the last save thinking it’s just going to reset the story and keep new game+, proceeded to have all progress made completely erased. In a story game how can you only have one save. Other than that the game was really enjoyable the theming was great and the villains were eerie and disturbing, the true highlight of this game was how they managed to present the seed family in such a effective manor.
There is a secret ending
when your cop buddy tells you to cuff the father, don't do it and wait for like 5 mins than you will just leave and it ends

I’m confused by the mute character as in every other FC our characters talk. I feel now just because we have ability to change our character’s appearance our character can’t have dialogue. I love the game but just not this change.
It completely ruined any chance this had of putting forth deep philosopical disscusion. Now the villains ramble to themselves while you stare back blankly.
It really makes it feel like an old fashioned game. The silent protagonist is a dead trope in gaming.

This is my first Farcry 5 experience, I’ve only just finished Dutches island, and I gotta say so far I’m loving it and very impressed by the experience and optimisation of this game.

I don't understand why you and others are a little disappointed in the game because it has a lot of the same stuff as other far cry games. It's far cry. That's what makes it good. Why make it a completely different game. Find a different game and stop criticising it even if it's just a little. They do not need to make the game something totally different

Honestly, I love that your character is mute. Why is because no longer were you restricted to the characters thoughts. The rookie became an extension of yourself into the far cry universe and was controlled by your thoughts and actions.
This is the only game on pc where the controls for flying planes aren't impossible
I personally love the core gameplay of all the far cry games 4 and up, so to experience that gameplay with different settings and atmospheres is a big plus
