Dear RaGa.. What a brilliant articulation of Raja's mastery. Probably the best I have seen.. The choice of words, the exuberance and evidently visible respect for him... It covers how a trained musician will approach him and how a laymen experiences him. We need more people from your fraternity to explain laymen like us to unveil the genius in Raja. While we all love him for the musical and emotional experience he gives.. the science & grammar behind is beyond us to fathom. When people like you unravel the thought process and audacity behind some experiments of his compositions it makes us understand atleast the complexity behind so called "simple songs". I wish someday to learn and train classical music just to unearth layers of Raja music..

This is for Illayaraja and/or RaGa fans! Music of a genius composer sung by genius singers! This is an event not to be missed if you are an Illayaraja and/or a RaGa fan. It was a very unique and exhilarating musical experience. We (two senior citizens) attended the concert in the DC metro area on April 22, 2023 after driving 300 miles on a rainy day and I want to try to go to the concert in Atlanta for experiencing it again.

Ilaiyaraja sir's music infused my teens and early adulthood. Every song evokes a strong sense of places, people and situations in my life to this day. it's the background score for many of my generations lives. I must say you together evoke a sense of the ladies of our generation, of our families.. so rich in tradition, yet erudite and modern, theirs and yours very presence communicates a sense of serenity and comfort. I haven't seen the concert, but I enjoyed your reminiscence immensely. Much gratitude !

The world has a wrong notion that classical music is only for the intellectual class and not for the common man. You both look like the God appointed ones to break this barrier. 7:00 exactly what me and my father discuss from time to time. It's hard to compose even 2 lines beautiful and memorable. But Raja sir's entire songs, BGMs, the playback between the charanams, everything from start to end is a masterpiece. We not only memorize the tune of pallavi and charanam, we also unknowingly get drawn towards playback music

Kunnakkudi sir did this same thing years ago. I used to go to his concerts only to listen to that part where he starts of drifting away from the classical mood into semiclassical or light music and I have seen people with staunch classical background slowly leaving the concert and then me and many of the "outsiders" like auto drivers, and the likes would come to the front and send requests to ask him play the peppy filmy numbers and he was like so generous in taking us into the world of popular semiclassical music. I have even heard some ppl murmuring that he is disrespecting his violin (sadly) I listen to both and love the way it is taken to the common man by these great artists..

Though many may have identified the strong influence of Classical music even in the folk and rural tunes of Ilaiyaraja, the exposition of the same in a bottom-of-the heart analysis from the two sisters,especially Gayatri, is simply amazing! Added to the content,is also the choice expression,style and delivery. I was initially sceptical watching this piece under a bias that it would be an account of flattery on Raja from the sisters. Thank god, it is a real artistes’ journey, purely thru artistes’ strides and nothing else! Congratulations! ! !

Hello, Ranjani-Gayatri Madams, we were at the concert on Apr 23 and it was simply amazing. Amazing. This is my first time at your concert. You have beautiful singing voices. ( Please do share your vocal warmup routine and give us some techniques and tips.) We enjoyed the different ways, perspectives you gave us with the classical introduction to Raaja Sir’s songs. We liked the format of most of these. The only feedback we had was to discuss more songs in this format instead of spending too much time on any one movie song (Aagaya Vennilave). Now that ma'm, You have had enough interactions with Raja sir. You might ask him to teach you western music or help you learn WM in any other ways.. You might present the music in unison ,in terms of aesthetics. I told Raja sir because ,I feel in a true sense ,he is the only musician in the world, who knows Indian and Western music in equal magnitude....Please give it a thought ..you will become eternal because that is something unheard of so far... this is my sincere request as your fan. There must be much obfuscation of Raja Sir's brilliance among non-carnatically trained listeners. Your research and exposition will surely connect Raja and RaGa sisters better and remove such nuanced veils, leaving the listeners in new realms of ecstasy.

I put a direct question to these ladies who shower encomium on Raja's music. They also said if there is even a slight variation in gamakam, he will frown and direct us to sing as per his notes. Fair enough. If that is his version, then why did he change the raga of famous Thyagaraja Composition in a film. Yes I refer to
Mari Mari ninne. Swamy Thiaga Raja composed this in Harikambhodhi . I think the guru of these sisters would have also taught them in Hari kambhodhi. But this Raja changed the raga of the original composer to
SARAMATHI. What right he has got to change it ? This man who speaks of Copy Right and intellectual property rights. It is a shame. I openly ask these musicians that whether they will sing this song in SARAMATHI in Thyagaraja Utsawam or in Concert platform. This man is a highly conceited man. Will the sisters answer this ? Incidentally, I love his music acumen.
Saint Tyagaraja was an 18th century composer! Maybe, if at all someone with the ability of IR can come and change any of his composition in the 22nd century, do you think IR would serve a LEGAL notice to him?! Even if the Trinity had been alive, they would have embraced IR for what you even mentioned "his music acumen"! HE DID IT BECAUSE HE COULD. What do you think could go wrong if Mari mari ninne is sung in Saramathi?! Would the world face an apocalypse, or would it ire Tyagaraja to curse mankind?!
Besides, Copyrights for film music came into effect in 1969 in South India (7 years BEFORE IR even debuted)! Do you think IP and copyrights are ignored by other music directors before and after IR? Do you think others give away their music in charity?! There is NOTHING "shameful" because the world is powered by money. And IR was only TOO LATE to start all this in 2015! Even that became indigestible to a majority of the population.
