This is my most recent project purchase. I plan on fixing this truck up to serve as an all-around utility vehicle. Work truck, camper, mover, hauler, you name it.

I bought a 73 Olson/Grumman inline 250ci 6cyl, 4spd. 1ton step van, aluminum body, power brakes, MANUAL STEERING, totally f--ked, can bearly turn the steering wheel rolling, sitting still turning the steering wheel bends the steering extension shaft, so I spent 3 months going to the bone yard and auto parts store to finally get everything to make it POWER STEERING, I'm a welder so I made the brackets to hold the p/s pump to the engine, plus lots of trial and error, but now it turns with 1 FINGER. I guess the guys that drove these must sleep well a night. Parts -. p/s pump 70's gm. P/s gear box 3/4 or 1ton gmc. truck..pulley from the same car u get the pump from. Test alignment with a straight edge. Use a wide V belt so it won't slip. William

awesome. good tips. i put a wider belt on and it runs fine. its a laborious project for sure. its super cold here right now so ill continue working on it in the spring. the good news is she fires up in the 7'F weather.. sluggish but she fires up.

How is that treating you? Was just looking at one of these. Same year, but with 6.2 litre. Know of any problems associated with these. Also looked at an 87 but it had some rust and steering issues.

Seven Wanders sent me too, looking for a 292 myself, but for my K5 Blazer, my step van has a 6.5L diesel n it, she is 18ft though

So I think you said you put 235 85 16’s on. Do they rub together in the rear? I’m trying to get a straight answer from the internet as to required space between the two tires for safety. Thanks.

How did this go? Im looking at a 1984 chevy im guessing these didnt come with power steering. The truck has been sitting for over 20years idk what im getting myself into as far as to even get it to crank on me probably will need to flush everything for starters, new batteries, fresh gas lol for starters. Any tips would be great. Is the 4x4 crucial for these trucks as the one im looking at is not 4x4. Thanks for the help.

Sal Conigliaro, do you have a relative whom was a teacher in the Connecticut School system back in the 70's and maybe longer? I believe she was the cousin of the Red Sox players Billy and Tony though her last name was different.

C3llular Films thanks for watching! I did not buy a new motor. I pulled the Chevy 292 inline 6 out, sent it off to NAPA for a rebuild to .060 over and reinstalled it. She runs nice now.
