    The volume buttons are a pain, I’ve found the best way to use them is to click once which turns the volume symbol black on the screen then if you click the volume up or down one click at a time it seems to register ok. Don’t have an issue with the mirrors and reversing due to the quality of the cameras. I’ve had no issue with the projected charge on Google maps navigation, just done a 3 hour round trip and it was accurate to the exact starting percentage both there and back. The attention monitor is my biggest gripe, it doesn’t seem to appreciate that you have to look to the right in the UK when you’re approaching roundabouts. Other than a couple of minor gripes I think it’s the best car I’ve ever owned, super quiet, sooth and comfortable and the Harmon Kardon sound system is amazing.

      Had one of these for a day while my Volvo was having some work done. I found the Harmon Kardon logo on the sound bar reflects onto the windscreen if the suns out. I kept thinking it was a heads up display or that something was on the bonnet! I too missed some physical buttons. The car always told me off for not keeping my eyes on the road but it was because everything is in the tablet and takes ages to flick through to find what you want. However, that being said I agree, it’s a really nice car overall, super quiet, quirky interior and surprisingly quick off the mark.

    The explanation for buttons being removed is cost, of course, but there's no excuse for the irritating software. We were very keen on the EX30 but the lack of rear space means it's not a starter for us, and the frustrating software seals that. If and when we change our Polestar 2, it will probably be an XC40 Recharge, or - most likely - a Renault Scenic e-Tech, once it's been out a year or two so someone else can pay the depreciation! Thanks for the useful videos on the EX30 Kris, as everyone else is simply voting it the best EV in existence at the moment.

    This is a really useful set of information. I was looking at the EX30 to replace my 5 year old BMW i3. So pleased I saw this, because the i3 is a fantastic little EV and has none of these annoyances, and the chances of finding the infotainment quirks on a test drive are minimal. Mmm, think I will be keeping the i3 after all; which 5 years of ownership has cost me one set of 4 new tyres at 37k miles, some screen wash and car cleaning products!

    I changed my mirror when I picked up my EX30 from Volvo, but I have never changed them again. I don't find myself needing alter my mirrors to reverse - there's a camera?
    I'd prefer to have control over the volume rather than my passenger to be honest, but I do get the problems with volume control. But again, I don't change it that much for it to annoy me as much as you're annoyed.
    Personally, we've had no complaints from the few passengers we've had in the back of the car, and I've found there's more room than many taxis I've used in the UK! But we are a couple so bought a car to suit us with only the occasional passenger. We also wanted to get a smaller car because the UK is plagued by giant SUVs - so knew that we'd not have a cavernous interior. To us it's perfect.
    It's worth noting, the estimated distance on the car needs to learn your driving style and how it's used. Mine has become more accurate as its collected more data.
    So, having owned mine for over a month, I have absolutely no regrets and gladly don;' have any of the annoyance with mine you do.

      Also, I could be mistaken, but you can basically get access to whatever you want via voice control? Volume controls suck, but hey google. turn volume to 7. I've heard that the voice control can pretty much control, or get access to, the important things. IIRC, there is no Certified EPA on Mileage as of now.
      It seems like most cars where you just got to get used to it, but also know what you're buying.

    For people saying this is a cheap Chinese car and not a Volvo please stop it and do some research. Volvo has put out videos on the teams of people that were involved in creating this car and they are out of Sweden. Just because Volvo is in the Geely group doesn't mean Geely is cheapening Volvos or compromising them. In fact, if Geely was so terrible and forcing Volvo to put in such low quality materials as some of you claim, why is the Zeekr X built on the same platform full of premium materials? Why would Geely cheapen Volvo and not Zeekr? Did it ever occur to you that Volvo is into making sustainable materials and are using textured plastics and other recyclable materials to make the cars more sustainable? THey've said that. And as far as being so called 'minimal," Volvo has been Scandinavian understated for decades. Now they use screens but having a fairly austere interior is nothing new to Volvo.
    As for the platform, the SEA platform is a Geely platform. Geely hired an ex-Saab engineer, Kent Ove Bovellan, a Swede, to engineer this platform. So European know-how produced this platform. It's an excellent platform. The rest of the car is due to whatever Volvo chose in Gothenberg, Sweden. If it is cheap, it's Volvo Sweden that made it cheap, not Geely. And as for Geely, they like Swedish engineering. Their top designer is stationed in Sweden. Some of their engineers and tech guys are also positioned in a Swedish company they founded. It used to be called CEVT and now it is called Zeekr Technology Europe. Zeely is branching out to add more European know how in at least some of its brands. zeekrtech.eu

    • @HermanWillems
      @HermanWillems Месяц назад

      WRONG the platform, the electrical drivetrain is 100% fully Chinese made by GEELY. And that's also the reason why it's so SUPER INEFFICIENT. You agree right that the drivetrain is bad? Correct?

I've had 360-cameras in my cars since 2016, so I am not new to it. Volume is something that you adjust all the time, so having to press a button to get the controls up on the screen is a dumb solution. If you'd done close to 5000km in EX30s like I have, you probably would think it was dumb as well.
      I test EVs for a living dude, and have driven most of them extensively over several years here in the channel. My channel is dedicated to EVs, and I own a Taycan and have owned several EVs, and have others on order. So this has nothing to do with "hoping on the EV train", that is a strawman - and is a violation of commenting guidelines on my channel (see description).
      Having all functions on a touch screen, or buried in menus is dumb - and nobody is asking for it. Even your smart phone has physical buttons for volume. More and more new EVs are moving back to physical buttons and controls. Just look at the new Q6 E-Tron and Xioami SU7.

    • @KrisRifa
      @KrisRifa  Месяц назад

      @@rnijhuis71 It is as pointy as you original comment there matey. So that is very ironic.
      A simple Google search says this:
      "What is Clickbait - Definition and Examples - CoSchedule
      Clickbait typically refers to the practice of writing sensationalized or misleading headlines in order to attract clicks on a piece of content"
      Your suggestion of the titling this video "the worst car I've reviewed" would in fact be actual click bait, since it is far from that. Because as I say at the very start of the video, this is one of my favourite cars atm. This is simply a topical video about "9 things I hate about this car", which is a long running series on my channel. These videos are also accompanied by "things I love about this car", to make the whole concept balanced. So again, the irony is hard on this one.
      "Influencers are a particular kind of despicable people who pray on the work of others to make themselves more popular. In order to do that, they take a popular product and diss it in the harshest way possible, preferably using CAPITALS for extra attention, in order to garner clicks, views and followers. That is your end game. Hence click bait. Not consumer advice, not manufacturer feedback, just personal gain"
      If this was what my channel was about, sure I would have to agree with you. If this was my only video on this car, again I would have to agree with you. But that isn't the case, so again, you would look less ignorant if you actually knew what you were talking about.
      If you had done that, you's know that this is the 15th video I've done on the EX30, you'll find hours of content here with balanced reporting on just about every aspect of this car. You'll find multiple range tests, long trip tests, reviews, comparo-videos, driving impressions, interior and exterior tours, infotainment deep dives. I mean, you are barking down the wrong tree dude. I am probably as yourself would say "the influencer" with the most experience and most content on the EX30 on this platform.
      This comment is the funniest one though "Not consumer advice, not manufacturer feedback, just personal gain"
      I've done so many videos that are real world standardized test that not even those you call "real journalist do". I actually take these cars on hours, and sometimes days of real world consumption and travel tests, that only a handful of people in the world do on a regular basis. I am one of the few channels in the world that take EVs on big cross continental trips every year. I have close to 80 long trip tests that on average are 8 hours of travel each. Do you want to link to some "real" journalist who do that? Other than my friends Bjørn, Kyle or Chris - I don't think any of the "real" journalists actually do those types of tests.
      As I've talked about several times in my videos, I've spent several days with the team who made the EX30. I told Anna the engineer responsable for the UX what I didn't like and I found terrible, just like in this video. She and her team appreciated the feedback. But somehow, you don't? Curious.
      If you want more balance, watch my actual reviews of this car. If you want unopinionated reporting on how this car performs in the real world, watch my range and long trip tests. If you want simple reporting on the interior, watch my tour-videos. But don't watch my topical video that focuses on the negatives and and start calling me names. That makes you look ignorant.
      You have violated some of the commenting guidelines here on the channel (see description) and I would advice you to refrain from more violations. Further violation can get you banned and blocked.
